None of this is from the book; he’s directly pulling from Coppola’s 1992 film, which was cribbing from DARK SHADOWS (and maybe THE MUMMY), as was FRIGHT NIGHT 🤣

unlabelledView post →Been a long time since I watched Fright Night, such a good movie. Roddy McDowall's best role by far.

unlabelledView post →The sax player is a lesser god of the 80s. Even I know that. I just think the essential 80s vampire movie is Fright Night.

unlabelledView post →For the 3rd #Halloween26 movie, it's Fright Night from 1985, my all time favorite horror movie. This has everything: it's definitely scary, with a villain who's both sexy and horrific, it borrows generously from others, and there's gay subtext for days.
unlabelledView post →Fun news! I joined my girl Katie Afraidy to introduce her to my favorite movie of all time, FRIGHT NIGHT (1985). This was such a delight and I will never pass up the chance to wax poetic about my king Jerry Dandridge. youtu.be/nxqELm90jWk?...

unlabelledView post →And a tie between #Jaws50 and my beloved favorite horror film, #FrightNight (1985)! The girl who first cries "Shark!" is, in fact, Dorothy Fielding, who, ten years later would play Charley Brewster's mother Judy in Fright Night! #MutantFam
unlabelledView post →"Lost Boys is the campiest 80s vampire movie." Man, Fright Night is right there. Vampire's Kiss. Once Bitten. C'mon.
unlabelledView post →Books to Films 📚=🎞️ The Beast Within (1981) by Edward Levy was adapted to film in 1982. The screenplay is by by Tom Holland of Fright Night fame. The Southern Gothic tale examines how someone becomes a "monster" whereas the film takes the monster motif literally as a were. 👹🩸👩 #filmsky #booksky
unlabelledView post →Picking a random film from my collection to show off for no real reason! Year 2, Day #209 "Fright Night" (Tom Holland/1985) One of my favorite vampire comedy/horror films of all time. You know, out of the handful of vampire comedy/horror films that exist. Go fucking watch it right now!

unlabelledView post →Rewatched Fright Night (1985) tonight. I’ve seen it many times, I just felt like a familiar film tonight. I like all the scared faces that Roddy McDowall makes in this. 😦😧
unlabelledView post →🎬 37 years ago (May 19, 1989) "Fright Night Part 2" (1988) premiered in American theatres! Directed by Tommy Lee Wallace and featuring special makeup effects designed by Norman Cabrera, the film stars Roddy McDowall, William Ragsdale, Traci Lind, Julie Carmen and Jon Gries, to name a few. #Horror
unlabelledView post →In addition to FRIGHT NIGHT having so much textual queerness, I can't help but love a movie where a horror host becomes part of an actual horror story. To me, this is a definitive vampire film of the moment: Undeniably 80s, while being wildly reverential to fright cinema history that came before.
unlabelledView post →Tomorrow morning we have an interview with Steven C. Miller about this complete blast of a film. And he brought with him Fright Night.

unlabelledView post →2025 watch #21: Fright Night (1985). In 35mm! On my birthday! Forever here for Chris Sarandon’s cunty lil’ 80s vampire. My favorite horror movie since childhood, a tone-perfect balance of humor, horror and winking self-awareness.

unlabelledView post →Going to do a horror film poster I love a day until Halloween, or until I get tired/forget to do it. First up: Fright Night. I think it might be my favourite horror poster ever, tbh. It’s the one window with the light on that seals it.

unlabelledView post →Tonight's movie is Fright Night (1985) 🍿
unlabelledView post →A midnight monster movie retelling of a classic setup. A subversion *and* celebration of vampire tropes and traditions. A movie about high school insecurity boiling over with subtext. A haunted hayride of ghoulish imagery. I mean it when I call FRIGHT NIGHT one of the best horror movies ever made.
