57 of 57 · most liked firstI've only played the first two acts (out of five), but here's what I thought of it so far: * Everything that touches you kills you instantly, which adds to the challenge. * On the other hand, enemies also die with one shot (except for bosses). * There are checkpoints every now and then. They look pretty awesome and are quite useful. * It seems the level designs is inspired by Sonic levels, i.e. you have multiple paths, which is good. There are timerun challenges and collection challenges.…

With a little more polish, it could probably be a truly incredible game, and I look forward to trying it again in a few months to see if any of its issues have been improved on. Until then, it really isn't that great of a platformer game outside of its somewhat-unique gliding / wind mechanic. --- Full review :: The level design for the first two…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Talewind is a beautiful trial and error platformer that heavily encourages precision speed running that I can for some reason just not really get behind. There are so many things that work well with this game, but I feel there are more things that do not work well. I got this title on sale for under 2 dollars so I will keep it around to try it out more, but I would not recommend this game at full price. Pros +Amazing art that is visually pleasing with rich and vibrant colors +Tight and…

I have a program that allows me to assign keyboard controls to mouse movements. I play your game. It's very good. I like it. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really gorgeous looking in fact its probably prettier than Rayman Origins in a lot of places. Unfortunately it has pretty poor performance for a 2d platformer. My rig can run pretty much every 2d game I try on it including Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends but it really stuttered here which kindof ruined things for me. Controls are a little wierd too. 6/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a beautiful, fun game that i don't recommend because of all the artificial challenge and basic gameplay. this plays like an snes-era game. one hit kills, restart from beginning, no additional character skills or progression. while the first few levels are fun, the game quickly gets frustrating and not worth playing, especially in the 2-d platformer genre.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like wind... then the wind mechanics will blow you away.... enjoyable...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looks great from the screenshots but that's about as far as my appreciation for Talewind goes. If you were hoping for a video game the quality of the anime "Nausicaa", this isn't it. Talewind is just not that fun to play. Animations are so-so. The story isn't compelling at all (some guy just tells you the wind is going away and off you go to the right of the screen). The sound effects and music are, to be honest, pretty terrible. There's no voiced dialogue that I encountered, and while…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: - Game looks pretty. Cons: - No story to speak of. - Awful dialogue (including grammatical errors). - Repetitive music. - Bland platforming. - Artificial challenge. Overall, I don't think this game is worth your time. unlabelledView post →Talewind has pretty graphics, cute main character and cliche' story. The problem I have with the game is if you die you lose everything you collected. Check points are only good for progression, any feather that you've collected is gone. It's an asinine game mechanic, along with flaky, finicky controls that are supposed to make the game a "hard core platformer". Meh the difficulty in the game is artificial created by the crappy controls and mechanics. Not recommended.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Highly recommended game. Graphics: Beautiful, just amazingly beautiful. It's one of the most atmospheric games i've ever played. Music & Sound: Music is really good and fits perfect to the levels and scenarios. Could need eventually a few more soundeffects here and there. Gameplay: Controls are perfect and i never felt like i would lose control over the character when it wasn't my own fault. Difficulty of the game isn't too hard, in case you just want to complete the game. You have no…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very pretty sonic like platformer. Nice atmosphere and runs well on my machine. Unfortunately it's pretty frustrating for me and my girlfriend. It's very easy to die and have to restart from the beginning. Personally I'd rather just play an old platformer on my Genesis or SNES. It's not like shovel knight in that it actually brings new twists to an old formula - it's just a slightly less fun version of an old formula.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been waiting for the release of Talewind for months and I can say it was worth the wait. The trailers didn't show that much besides the art (which is amazing) and basic mechanics, but the game is much more than that. It's also very challenging after the 1st world. I recommend it to anyone.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After beating the game, I can't say I recommend it as it has some flaws that make it not fun at times. The level design wants to be a "Hardcore Precision Platformer" with one hit kill mechanics, but the controls and level obstacles not precise enough to support it. Movement Levels are large, but the player character is quite slow. Increasing walk speed and reducing the delay on starting, stopping, and changing directions would greatly improve the feel of the game. Music The track loops are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The checkpoints are useless because you lose all your gathered feathers upon death.. and you will die a lot in this game. The art is beutiful, thats is right.. but that is not enough for me to recommend it, sorry.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good : Art Style is really well done Music is okay but a little bit too repetitive and easily forgotten Level design is big with a lot of possible paths. Kinda like Sonic. Bad : Feel like a Bad SNES game. One hit death, no health system, unfair platforming with unfair enemies to accompany that. The bosses take a lot of time to get started. The last boss has a 15 second restart time everytime you die. And you will probably die a lot. Annoying. The game is 10 levels with 5 bosses.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Talewind has a very beautiful animation that unfortunately hides a very mediocre platformer. I don't mind casual difficulty but the gameplay here begs to have more mechanics. There are literally only 3 moves which are jump, glide, and shoot. So basically Super Mario was a more complex game because it had power-ups. Talewind has no way of mitigating damage which makes every beginner trap significantly more annoying. Overall difficulty is easy enough until maybe act 4-5 when it becomes slightly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For any of you who are questioning yourselves on whether or not you should buy this game, let me give my short opinion, since I am a man of few words: This game is not a refined game, and it is graphically demanding and there may still be a few problems that need fixing. HOWEVER, be mindful that the game is enjoyable, all of the mechanics are there and work really well. There is more content than what meets the eye, there are side quests AND, most of all, there's replay value. This is a game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is the hard proof that having an artistic mind is not enough. What a shame to see that such a beautiful world and cute characters can be ruined by poor game design and controls. Handling the character is way too stiff for the challenges that game design gives us ! After beating a boss you may just not be able to move for a few seconds without any explanation. The level selection is not easy to get. If you quit the game once and come back to it later, you might think you can start…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Every single game engine capable of 2D has (or, seems to have) a platformer tutorial. Talewind looks like what happens when a competent artist gets a hold of Unreal, completes a tutorial, and decides to immediately begin working on a commercial product. Is there anything new here? No. You've got an inoffensive protagonist who can glide and use a wind attack, basic enemies that'll kill you in 1 hit, and a looping and horribly annoying soundtrack. If you've played any free browser-based…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is one of those platformers where you can't avoid many deaths at first, it forces you to fail, and to progress you need to remember exactly what to do each time instead of getting better at the game and avoiding danger by skill. The controls are not perfect, there are a few bugs, only buy this game if you are a hardcore platformer fan and have nothing else to play. It's cute though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish I could give this game a good review. The art is amazing and I really enjoyed the simplicity of the controls. Unfortunately the game too frustrating to enjoy for very long. The level design borders on cruel with how the hazards are often set up with little opportunity to avoid them unless you have their locations memorized. This is primarily due to how close the FOV is to the character and I found myself quickly wishing there was a way to see these hazards coming. Perhaps this was…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am sad to say I will no continue to play this game. the main (or lone) designer is clearly an amazing artist and animator. Among the most gorgeous hand made and hand animated 2D I've seen since Jotun. However the level and game design is lacking a lot to make is great. I really hope the next project will get the second part of the game design right because the first half of it is pure gold.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have not finished the game yet. I played through the first 3 acts so far (9 levels). But here are my thoughts from what I have played: Pros: Talewind is a lot of fun to play, epecially with a controller. The gameplay is very smooth. The graphics are very beautiful. The world really feels alive and fluid. The levels are very well designed, with many alternate paths to take. Great music as well. Very challenging - It can take many tries to complete a level and many more to master it. Lot of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're looking for a challenging platformer, with awesome scenarios and beautiful sound track, this is a game for you. The game might look easy at the beginning but the difficulty increase from world to world. Some casual players will be frustrated with it, more hardcore players will not have that much work but at the slightest mistake you can die. Some stuff can still be improved and I think it's important for the devs to know your opinion. From what I see they are trying to build a small…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A bit boring and without much flair. Visuals are nice but gameplay feels basic. Jump, glide and attack. Levels are boring to be honest and you want to finally finish them. Background scenery is changing between a few stages and that's ok. Checkpoints are scarce and character can take only one hit, so lots of repeating. If you're looking for simple platformer it might be ok.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hardcore Platformer ! It's pretty not my kind of games usually because it's tough but I'm kinda enjoying this independant game so I recommand ! ;-)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The art style is defintely S level. Another thing I also like is the animation, which gets a B+ but could easily be A with some more polish. However, whoever made the rest, so the gameplay experience, really really lacks talent. You die the moment you touch an enemy, the hitboxes sometimes feel unfair, the flying mechanic is a good idea but implemented mediocorely, and that's just some examples. As for level design, while pretty, this game obviously puts "Challenging" wayy before "Fun". It…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It makes me sad having to say that I don't recommend this game. I want to start saying that the character and background design are BEAUTIFUL, it's eye candy, although some enemies seem drawn(or painted) in a different style than the rest of the game, and that feels a little odd. The sad thing is that the game design is awful, the levels are uninteresting. Most of the time, I felt that the game was a series of traps, only to be seen when they were already unavoidable. The hitboxes are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A 2D platformer that feels like a direct throwback to 90s platformer classics but with a "HD" coat of paint. The game's visuals are really good and artistic and the level design is heavily influenced by Sonic the Hedgehog (a end boss in the game even looks like a strange version of Sonic). The game's mechanics are more on the simplistic side but this is not necessarily a bad thing. Likewise, the difficulty is not too high but there is still a challenge for those who want to do perfect runs…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Talewind was one of the most satisfyingly challenging games I’ve played in a very long time. This was a difficult platformer, with absolutely incredible level-design and tight controls that made it’s reflex- and timing-based puzzles a matter of skill instead of luck every time. Despite the rather punishing 1HKO mechanism, I thought there were just enough checkpoints to keep things moving along, and despite dying an embarrassing amount of times (especially in the fourth and fifth worlds) I never…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first thing I want to note is that my reccomendation here comes with a huge * *Warning this game is a decent game only if you really like Sonic style platformers or if you are a hardcore completionest who loves speed/collecting challenges. I also had some issues with this game that I would definitely consider before buying. The major one was the one hit death system. It was more frustrating then challenging as the game kept killing me with enemies I couldn't see until they were almost…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →15 minutes is all it took for the music and sounds to make me uninstall. Mechanics are eh, 1 touch death feels a bit much and wouldn't be bad if checkpoints are better spaced. I say pass unless you get it really cheap!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is the proof that a good concept art alone can't make a videogame. Few animations and badly made. Artificial difficulty does make the game frustrating. The gameplay doesn't match with the game contents: the secret final boss is a run n' gun boss but you are stucked by the platform mechanics. Stay away.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Talewind is a beautiful 2D platformer inspired by the likes of Mario and Sonic, if you enjoy that type of game you'll enjoy this, it has amazing 2D sprites and enjoyable music.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →EDIT: Shortly after I wrote my review, the devs released an update that took away the Lives system, making half of my criticism obsolete. Im now forced to change my recommendation to a positive one, and you can skip the second half of my review. Platforming has been a quintessential genre in videogames ever since we figured out that making something jump over a pit successfully was immensely fun, and there hasn’t been a better time to indulge in that feeling than the indie videogame age we…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent game, its obvious the dev put a lot of time into it. The music is very relaxing, the artwork is fantastic. It has some elements from favorite platformer games of the past, which is a treat to see. Very cool game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has a nice visual appeal but the gameplay is too simple. They should at least have added some more movements and tougher enemies. Sometimes the lineart of the enemies detracts from the general feel of the environments; I think it shouldn't be there (I'm looking at you, Yetis.) A little bit of backstory or purpose would also be good. I'll give a thumbs down because the gameplay is too slow and monotonous.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Talewind, developed and published by WindLimit Studios, is a beautifully crafted 2D platformer that merges old-school challenge with a unique elemental twist built around the power of wind. The game opens in a peaceful little village resting at the foot of a towering mountain, a place once blessed by endless gusts of air that kept life flowing. When those winds begin to falter, the tranquil world faces decline, and a young boy sets off on a journey to climb the mountain and restore balance.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very nice game. Very simple
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I pressed select and the game restarted the level from the beginning without any notice, losing all the progress. I can't believe it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have mixed feelings about this game, yet I can't in good heart leave a negative review. While the cutesy artstyle can trick people into thinking that this is a casual platformer the game makes it very clear from the very beginning that it is aimed towards more experienced players. Yes, as many reviews already pointed out, the controls are really janky and the hitboxes are inaccurate, I even managed to get stuck between platforms at some points. The enemies can range from mild annoyance to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →despite the nice art and the fact that i have found the game for less than 1 cash , i have the bitter feeling that this was a quick cash grab attempt way more than a labour of love , you can feel it from the gameplay and so i came to the conclusion that this is a bad game period. Go play OWLBOY if the wind themed game is what intrigues you https://store.steampowered.com/app/115800/Owlboy/
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →SSoooo...fun, cute, and the story is told as you play. pros: -colorful -easy controls -cute story -challenging -levels have multiple pathways cons- - 1 hit death (not the worse thing but annoying) -Checkpoints are few and weirdly place (and can be missed with all the possible pathways that can be taken) - each level has a goal of how many feathers to collect, when you die you lose ALL THE FEATHERS you have collected INCLUDING those you got before you hit the checkpoint. Overall, if you…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →El arte es muuuy bueno!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has 5 acts that consist of 2 stages each and 1 boss per act. Takes only few hours to finish. Along side from the main story, you can also do challenges like speedruning and feather collecting While the stages design look very pretty , the gameplay is not particularly fun because they were not designed for any complex mobility tools. All of the boss fights were very easy once you figured out the pattern. grab it when its on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice little game. It was a really nice journey playing this game. If you die a lot (like me -.-) the music will start pissing you off. But tbh, it does not deserve an 8.99e price.. ? maybe 4,99 or less.
