Localization is hot garbage. Most mods that fixes things are in Chinese, you also have to teak setting on your computer just LAUNCH the game. All that said, I WAS gonna give it an okay review, but then i learned some history for the creator....holy one of the most anti-gamer corpo-vile human beings: The dude was just super…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To even be able to play the game YOU NEED TO DO THIS since the developers were to lazy to translate their code for the translation other than that haven't played the game yet apparently plays like kenshi though. looking forward to it ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1. Exit from Steam 2. Go to game folder \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\鬼谷八荒 (it is a folder with hieroglyphs) 3. Rename it to Tale of Immortal 4. Go to folder \SteamLibrary\steamapps…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its 2026 and the dev still can't fix the issue of starting the game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fix your files, its been so many years, the launch bug is still not fix.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is only one way to play this game: Chaos difficulty. Any other way is a grind fest that feels unpleasant. Sure, you only have one extra life until you can rebuild yourself at Golden Core, but the extra loot, the higher tier manuals to purchase, and being forced to learn the game mechanics (because any other difficulty you can pretty much ignore them) makes Chaos the best and only way to play this game. I played this obsessively (95 hours) for a week. The most fun I had was playing this in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before I started playing, I did a little research and learned that the game was originally made mainly for Chinese players, and the English version came later. The developers added the localization gradually. Most of it is translated now, but you still run into moments where some text shows up in Chinese. There are also community mods that help with translation, which says a lot about how dedicated the community is. I really enjoy cultivation style stories, so this game immediately clicked…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really tried liking this game, but I have to admit it: the developers tried equally hard to make their game unlikeable and they might have bested me. To begin with, this game (or at least its English version) will not even start without making adjustments to your system. After you go through the song and dance required, the game shows you rather average bullet hell-style gameplay complicated by the fact that the obstacles preventing your character from moving around become transparent when…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's bad when you have to fix the launching the game by yourself, maybe the dev should pay me instead
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game won't launch. Dev team puts the responsibility of fixing this bug on the customer instead of just fixing it themselves. Even after following the instructions on their steam forum post, this game does not launch. This has been a known issue since 2023, and funny enough when I bought this game back then, I did not have this issue. Good luck to anyone buying this game, dev aint gonna fix this literal failure to launch.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To better progress cultivation and protection I hit up 7 9/10 cuties. Then my 7 partners killed each other until the one with highest cultivation survived, so I kept no other side chicks. Two months later, my sworn brother killed my newly conferred main girl. I killed my sworn brother out of anger, then his master, also my sect master, tried to kill me. For revenge I married the sect master's daughter. Of course, being angry, the Sect master killed my wife/her daughter as well. Never…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As of Oct 2025, I would say perhaps 95% of the game is translated in english, including the five bloom DLC. The remaining 5% is on some minor dialogue and random sidequests, I think it's fine and I personally didn't miss out much on it, but your mileage may vary. Regarding the game itself, this is my favourite Xianxia or Cultivator game thus far, the combat and sense of progression is done really well. It's not just "numbers go up" ala borderlands style, rather, each increase in cultivation…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game that truly embodies the cultivation I read about in manhua; it's really good. Unfortunately, most of the mods are in Chinese. While the vanilla game is nice to play as is, it feels like a rough diamond—you’ll know what I mean if you play Skyrim and like modding it to perfect your gameplay. That’s why I hope a bunch of 'Heaven Chosen' English modders will suddenly spawn and help us fellow cultivators achieve game perfection.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a product, the game itself shows exceptional promise; however, its development team has, regrettably, failed to capitalize on that potential. Despite numerous player reports of bugs and other issues, no substantive updates or fixes have been communicated. The apparent absence of any response raises serious concerns about the team’s priorities and operational effectiveness.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, the game has a major launch issue that took me about 15 minutes to research and fix before I could even start playing. Second, the English localization is poor, with many translations feeling inaccurate or awkward. Lastly, after about an hour of gameplay, the game started to become noticeably laggy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You need to use this fix for the game to launch: (Win11) SETTINGS -> TIME & LANGUAGE -> LANGUAGE & REGION -> ADMINISTRATIVE LANGUAGE SETTINGS -> CHANGE SYSTEM LOCALE -> CHECKMARK: BETA: USE UNICODE UTF-8. If you delete the versions.dll (another fix I found but didn't use) you won't be able to use mods. This fix cleared it up for me immediately. That's really my only complaint about the game! After that, I've been having a baller time on this thing. No kidding, this game is great, and the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played this game for over 100hrs and to be honest this could have been a magnificent game, but it is just average. For the money it is an ok game. Here is an honest review Everyone said the playthroughs are not the same, except IS the same. Endless grind to transcendent and the grind is all the same. Cultivate, find items, breakthrough. There is maybe a dozen of random events that keep playing through for hours and hours on end and feels repetitive. This is not a sandbox - you just…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game I ended up with 500 enemies because I kept killing everyone coming my way. Killed someone for a sect mission and then their spouse came for revenge then their parent did to, and then their grandparents. I'm pretty sure I ended a whole family tree but at least I have 5 wives.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game, one of the best cultivation rpg out there, and there's a variaty of mods avaible, although most of them were not in English, I mean, it's understandable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has game breaking bugs that reveal themselves after possibly hours after triggering the initial reason for them. Extremely frustrating experience with small chance of the developers making any further updates on it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing this game once again reminded me of how more wuxia/xanxia games should get an English translation. There's a real hole in the Western market here. Anyway, game has its flaws but it's by far one of the best of its genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's addictive, it's scary... at first I doubt buying the game due to the translation/localization issue, and yeah, it has... even in the settings, it says English alpha. but the game itself is good. update: after finishing the story for the first time, here's my thought. the game is great but it still has rooms for improvements, for example I really hate managing sects. after conquer all the sects, it's annoying that we have to go individual branch to manage resources, if I leave them to the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You know those cultivation comics? where a random nobody learned this cultivation and that technique or whatever and become strong? well, this is pretty similar, spent about 6 hours to become literally the strongest in one "area", i'm talking one shotting sect leaders and stuff, then travel to the next and become a literal bottom feeder there, dont worry to become to strong, there will always be a random parents that is seeking revenge because you killed their child that will be twice as strong…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So I enjoyed this game quite a bit. I enjoy the wuxia/ murim genre though so may have a bias. It has a bunch of cool little systems. Took me about 125 hours to beat on nightmare so it has a great amount of content, and the story is well written. Will probably come back to play on chaos again in the future wish i had played on chaos to begin with. Some tips - Luck>insight>travel speed are the only stats that are fixed and you can't scale, travel speed matters the least out of the 3. Luck…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is systems within systems, absolute crack if you like numbers going up. I've played it 60 hours at this point and I'm still constantly finding entire new systems of the game. You can get insanely powerful and completely break the game turning into a god. Tons of build options, probably the most character cosmetic visualization I've ever seen in a 2D game. Why download portraits when you can craft them yourself in-game? Sect battles that play like mmo battlegrounds? Your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm such a huge fan of this game. Found it after reading "The Cradle" series and I find myself playing my character's stories out in that style. I love this game's style. I have multiple characters all doing "different" things. There may be a repetitive nature to this a bit, but I don't mind it. Focus too much and many of the skills are just reskins of other styles, but each seems to have it's own flavor that I enjoy. It's not a perfect game, but I love everything about it. (especially…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →you know what? for Chinese by race I dont speak Chinese ohh the curse of not born in the mainland, I think I onlky have Chinese name but most of the family stop speaking chinese like 3 generation ago. anyway great game just most mods is in chinese, the game also somewhat sound like machine translated, I understand Chinese market alone is big but.... Please invest in good English localization, you guys doing great for game like WUWA and Star rail why cant it be replicated here, I understand…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tale of Immortal is a game that stands out for its deep character customization. The core of the experience is the total freedom to build your own combat style: combining destiny upgrades with different elemental skills and martial skills allows you to create unique and visually spectacular builds. The progression is the best part: every rank breakthrough is a challenge that requires finding rare materials, but the satisfaction of seeing your character scale in power is constant. Moving from…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is probably the best Xianxia RPG out there. The translation is a bit wonky and/or awkward at times, as Chinese to English tends to be, but if you can look past this, the game has incredible depth to it. You have 10 "Levels" of cultivation. 5 Areas, so 2 levels per area, which are seperated through a story relevant barrier and monster infested areas. Every new area, you will want to look for new skills to grow stronger. You have your regular skill, LMB, to attack, you have a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you love the Xianxia fantasy world you'll love this game. I recently fell in love with this world reading books. After getting into this beautiful universe I started looking for games that same have that vibe and aesthetic. Everything in this game is exactly how I imagined the Xianxia universe to be. This game is SO FUN and captures everything perfectly. It would be really awesome if this dev team kept making amazing games like this one. IF YOU LOVE XIANXIA AND RPGs YOU'LL LOVE…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an amazing cultaivation game sare i say the best cultivation game, i just wish they polished the english.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best game if you love xianxia and a good game if you have grinding and the worst game if you want to wnjoy the game without liking the genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm very much enjoying the game. my only complaint is it seems to be a rush to gain cultivation levels but with rushing I'm nowhere near as strong as I should be. but if I focus on getting stronger in other ways than cultivation level then it will take years. I'm currently on a deadline of 50 years to reach the second highest cultivation level which is insane. I'm playing on normal difficultly and its insanely hard, I get beat up and killed often by cultivator who have insane skill sets. it's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is not balanced. Walk through every fight until you meet an enemy that one shots you over and over. End game fights are ridiculous. No where to hide and impossible to dodge attacks will kill you every time, especially at the higher difficulties. Too much time is spent simply traveling around the map trying to get to your location. Walking through the monster infested areas is painful. You will be attacked every few spaces and it becomes monotonous. The game is a grind fest. Grind,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After reading all those amazing series (Magic Emperor, Reverend Insanity, Fated Villain, Martial Peak, etc.) and watching donghuas, I honestly really needed a game like this. I finally found it, and I absolutely loved playing it. The English translation is pretty easy to understand, and the pacing of the game is genuinely great. Making every realm breakthrough feel different and unique was a super creative move—it never feels repetitive. My advice to you guys is to definitely play with Soul…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the coolest games imaginable. I don't even know how describe it beyond its a wuxia simulator. China is absolutely goated for game dev and its only going to improve. Highly recommend to any who thinks they might like it. Translation can be a touch odd in places, but that comes with the territory of mandarin to english in my experience. There is also a mobile port that is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ excellent and I've played easily double my steam playtime.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game and if you are into wuxia games this is one of the only out there unfortunately. However it is well made and it has a lot of care put into it. He is working on a number 2 as well
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game, it has everything you want and so much more. At first I thought man it is not a good looking game, but does have nice partical effect, but the 2d can make it hard to see rocks on the ground that you don't see, but there is so much to the game not just with character developement but friends and disiple system is very cool. Normally I don't make friends in games, but in this I spend hours develeoping a friendship and disiples, that you can teach your skills to. This is a master…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →im surprised by how good this game is, really is a nice cultivation game there is an odd button here and there that sometimes isnt translated but usually its pretty obvious what it is so they are a non-issue, none of the actual text had any problems for me and the quality of the translation is pretty good if you have trouble launching just enabled UTF-8 encoding on windows (its what i did) or change the launch folder name to not be in mandarin and it will work
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This cultivation game is kinda great and it was the hidden gem that I'm looking for. In this game, you can play as the sole cultivator whose goal is to become immortal and a god. While journeying, you meet people along the journey and you decide either you befriend with them, or fight against them. The best part in this game is the romance then marriage. This is the reason why this game in my opinion is one of the best cultivation games I've ever played in my first three hours of playthrough at…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super like this game, probably my favorite game in the cultivation genre
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7.5/10 Good cultivation game and there is none like it. Have been playing on and off over the years. Definitely worth the money. The game could have been better if breaking through the realms were slower and more meaningful. And character interactions, joining/leaving sects were more meaningful and impactful.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →theres quite a lot of bugs and translation issue, but other than that it is the greatest xian xia game i have ever played
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bad thing: 1. the game may not launch at first but there's a easy fix, you only do it once and good to go. Good thing: 1. I didnt know I'd enjoy it, 550 hours in the 1st month. 2. Having fun with mod, mostly in CN so you may need to use google translate to find what you want. There's also ENG mod, minority but some of them are GOAT. Wuxia and bullet hell is something I wouldnt dreamt playing such a nice combination that may not for everyone. The price was ok just 10 bucks ( Main game +…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No recommend, there is little guide to help you around. The world is very dangerous, you'll die quiet a bit early. Nothing is clear to where to get the stuff you need to advance. Most NPCs are OP to you even same level. You're best avoid any random fights at all, but you still can't avoid people who's got a grudge on you. There is no progression zone, fights feels likes you are open to enemy or ht enemies are OP to you. I put it down and picked it up again few times but the game is not fun…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a very good and addicting game..
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay: Really good, although its gets monotone after a while, since there aren't many manuals with different attack animations. For example, basic attacks have 3 different attack animations for each weapon/spiritual root. Specials have more of a variety compared to that at 7-8. Sticking with one style for a whole save really gets boring during to that, unless you somehow find manuals that allow a different build that also work with your breakthrough destiny. Balance: Some battles the NPC…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Man its a tough world, Yeah really tough if your ULGY get the right looks and everyone wants you as a friend or a lover.. dual cultivator, and gift OMG stuff from monster i have no chance beat (for now) its Great, as long as your Charisma is HIGH. Dam beautiful people.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cultivation games have a weird curse where the devs feel like they must include everything it's possible to put into a video game, so every cultivation game is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of inscrutable systems that demands you optimize a hundred different unintuitive things with only awkwardly translated tooltips to guide you, or your cultivator will end up a fat chud with watery jing. tale of immortal also has the curse, is also full of complicated systems, is also awkwardly translated, but it's all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I also had the issue as many players mentioned, that it has a launching issue. Which is very odd that it hasn't been fixed yet. Like it is one of the most basic thing. Just follow the guide and delete a file, I don't remember. There is a file you need to delete, in order to be able to play, just follow the guidelines. This game is amazing for people that love cultivation. If you are a cultivation fan, then you are going to love this game 100%. I would say if you don't have cultivation…
