"*ACE COMBAT ZERO: THE BELKAN WAR is a standalone application separate from the ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE full game." I just copy pasted this text from the steam page. It is a BLATANT LIE. It is NOT separate. You need to install 140gb of data to play a 3gb 20 years old game. And why do console have achievements and not PC? EDIT: THEY CHANGED THE STEAM PAGE TEXT. It now says: "*ACE COMBAT ZERO: THE BELKAN WAR (Steam Version) is available as a DLC executable launched separately from the…

Really Loving the campaign so far, it's really fun. Not having much trouble running either on my distro HOWEVER on top of the insult that is Denuvo the Game has the first ever kernal level anit-cheat from bandai (Not even Tekken has it). And that means no multiplayer for linux users at all. Real shame. It's a choice to lock out linux users as well not a necessity. Don't expect them to make it compatible with steam deck or machine in the future. BTW just checked and their is already a cheating…

TL;DR: Ace Combat Zero isn't a separate game entry in your Steam library. It's just there as a DLC for AC 8. The game requires you to install AC 8 just to play it, and this has more repercussions. Consoles don't have this issue. Choose wisely if your pre-order is mostly based off of being able to get AC Zero. I will post my thoughts regarding the main game later, but I want highlight something regarding Ace Combat Zero (the pre-order bonus), which might affect some people's decision on…

AC8 seems to have a massive memory leak problem. From what I can gather on my end, it eats up anything that's available RAM wise. The more RAM I cleared up on my laptop, the more AC8 would take it, until there was nothing left except a few 100 mb left. Obviously this caused problems, everything became very "sluggish", including the game itself. Framerate was hovering around 30 FPS or so as well, at Ultra (see below for specs), from the very first cutscene of the game (Intro). Sometimes…

F to those who aren't here with us to witness the next chapter, may you all fly high in the Blue Skies.... o7 This is what happens when you overdo it on the Belkan Witchcraft Summoning after years of no new Ace Combat games. Before Ace Combat 7 came out, most fans thought this series was going to be shelved for good. Look where we are now. We got live action episodes and we also got AC Infinity 2.0 with these PvE & PvP multiplayer modes in AC8. All that AC7 revenue went so far and beyond. 7…

This game is A+. 90% of dislikes are people that paid 90 to only play multiplayer and missing out on what the game is truely about and what the game is truely made for. Bandai, we can't play online on SteamOS. We can access the lobby, interact with other players, but as soon as we try to start a mission we get "Error ST-3200003", which seems to be related to the devs forgetting to click the "Enable Linux Support" button on EAC. Plenty of other games use the same EAC AC8 is using (Dead by Daylight, Elden Ring, Elden Ring Nightreign and The Outlast Trials), and they all support SteamOS without problems. I'll gladly revert this rating and give the game a…

Again, the only HOTAS this game supports is the AC8 licensed one that works with the console version. WHY THE ♥♥♥♥ DO THEY NOT LEARN?! Online sucks for Aussie/OCE players as we never get host or servers anywhere near us, meaning 300 ping resulting in no ability to dodge other player's missile or every kill in PVE getting snaked by someone without low ping.

The multiplayer monetization method is just fully unacceptable, they are acting like its a free to play model in a fully priced game. To top it off the Ace pass is time limited? Get the ♥♥♥♥ out of here, scummy beyond reason. Death to all forms of fomo. Stand against it while it means something or live your life sitting a pay piggy slave.

Ace Combat 8 — 10/10 game, 0/10 business model. Single player: 10/10. And I mean it. The campaign is fantastic. Great missions, great characters, incredible music and beautiful graphics. The squadron AI is much better than in previous games, enemy AI works great, and performance on my system has been flawless. If this was just the single-player experience, I would have no problem recommending it. Unfortunately, I paid full price for the Deluxe Edition and apparently that wasn’t enough.…

Mainly just want to leave this review to show that it's possible to run this game on below-minimum specs if you leave all the graphics settings on low. It's pretty smooth, even, albeit a bit ugly. So if you don't have a graphics card with hardware ray tracing, there's still a chance you can play this game. As for the actual game itself, I think the best way to describe it is that it's just such a nice feeling to play it. There's nothing quite like a flight shooting game when it comes to good…

But this is still a flying planes game and with all the available sticks and throttles on the market, not to mention the HORI stick made especially for this game, you would think they would let us BIND controls to our own sticks. Best orchestra album in years, especially the tribal chanting part and songs. Mind-blowing stuff. The game that is attached to it is equallly brilliant too. But jokes aside... I mean, listen. Ace Combat 8 is absolutely ridiculous 90% of it's runtime. But the sheer sincerity of it made it work. This is what makes Ace Combat series so special in our challenging times. Positives: • Gameplay is very good, with a lot of features from previous AC games, and you can carry multiple special weapons, like Project Wingman. • The campaign is very good, with 30 missions which is 10 more than AC7 • 10/10 Soundtrack per usual • FOR me personally, I had no performance issues, but other people are having issues, so…

I'd say dont buy into the hype wait a few more patches before getting, I se alot of complain about ACZ not being a complete separate game, that is annoying but it's not why I'm here for. Pretty sure a handful of us got into the hype and not see the "pretty high" spec requirement even at minimum, mainly I'd blame it on the newer Unreal engine being a pretty unoptimized mess and so is the game itself too being a solid 150GB, here's a few annoying thing, forced "frame gen" and forced ray…

This is a great game. The story is awesome. However, and I hope the developers view these reviews, linux users are unable to play online due to EAC configuration. Bandai-Namco can easily fix this with a patch. But.. for now I cannot recommend this game. Furthermore, Unreal Engine 5 really takes a toll on machines, and there really was no reason to use this terrible unoptimized game engine. Once they push the patch I'll change my tune.

One of the best Ace Combat games ever made! PROS + Spectacular campaign with engaging characters and an exceptional story; + Amazing graphics; + The best gameplay in the series; + The multiplayer mode is also quite fun; + Varied missions. The problem with Ace Combat is just convincing people to try it. A lot of people look at it and just see plane military game, and expect something vaguely CoD/BF flavored, but in jets. It couldn't be further from the truth. Ace Combat is more like Macross or Gundam than it is CoD. Sure, there's military jargon, battlefield chatter, you're using licensed planes, blah blah blah. And being a Japanese game, it has a lot of corny dialogue and incredibly obvious story writing but the story is really just a vehicle to create incredibly ridiculous set pieces to satisfy every dogfighting and shonen trope there is. I think Ace Combat 8 is going to be a divisive game because it’s darker and more intense than any previous entry but in doing so makes the bold choice to be genuinely unpleasant at times. This makes it more successful in sending a “war is bad” message, but it *is* unpleasant when it choses to be.

I've never written a proper review for a game before this, but since I love Ace Combat as a series since I was a little kid, I thought I want to write a review for this game right after finishing the 1st run of the campaign. I wrote this review after just completing the campaign on Elite difficulty, so I won't really touch on Multiplayer etc. And I'm just writing what comes up on my mind so yeah, sorry if the review is a bit messy. So, yeah this game is close to perfect Ace Combat game…

Online does NOT work on Linux. As soon as you join a game Lobby it kicks you out. But the Campaign is amazing. The Story is good. I hope the Multiplayer is Successful.
