Remember games like Super Meat Boy? Those fancy games with simple yet reliable game mechanic that immerse you into great gameplay, this is Super Magbot. You can't jump. Your only weapon are magnets which you utilize to push or pull yourself across the platforms. It's one of those easy to play but hard to master type of games. Story is simple and easy to swallow. Visual side while pixelated holds a really nice art style. Music and sounds are good. Strong recommendation.

Super Magbot is a fiendishly difficult game that builds upon its simple premise with layers upon layers of new variables to manage and timings to master. It relies on your becoming flustered and messing up, rather than making the levels all that difficult. It never asks you to do anything more than time your button presses and use the correct magnet, but that never stops it from breaking you. It's a delight, but it's also not going to be for anyone who's not interested in taking a break every…

A great platformer without a jump button. All of your 'jumps' are repels with magnets (red / blue). Good level design, great OST and all around a lovely game.

A precision platformer where the difficulty is in overcoming the controls. Yes, its one of those kinds of precision platformers, where every level is a little slippery and basic function have a startup delay. Most of the times I succeeded, it felt like I did so despite the controls. If you enjoy that kind of challenge its worth taking a look, but its a hard miss for me, unfortunately.

ℂ𝕠𝕞𝕖 𝕠𝕟, 𝕄𝕒𝕘𝕓𝕠𝕥! 𝕃𝕖𝕥'𝕤 𝕤𝕒𝕧𝕖 𝕥𝕙𝕖 𝕦𝕟𝕚𝕧𝕖𝕣𝕤𝕖 Be warned, first and foremost, that this game will test your sanity and mettle unlike any other platformer game. It's a clever twist on the classic 2D platformer formula, minus the jumping. That's the gist of it, really, your protagonist cannot jump, but has to use a laser beam to latch unto walls and make it out of a level with his ONE-TOUCH death trifling ass... ahem, behind! It's smart, but having to either attract or repel, and two different buttons does need a specific part of the brain to work that I believe doesn't function for me lol. It unfortunately then becomes more frustrating than fun.

To avoid seeming completely petty in this review, let me first start by saying that Super Magbot is a decently made game that boasts terrific pixel art and sound design. However, I do not recommend the buying Super Magbot unless you can purchase it for $2-3 USD max. The game has an interesting gimmick but that gimmick isn't enough to support an entire game. Before purchasing Super Magbot, I had played through another 'precision platformer' game called Celeste and I can't help but shake the…

Brutal deflection/attraction-based puzzle platforming that demands more than most masocore offerings A friend passed this key to me, as pretty as you please -- as casually as if he were handing me a bag of peanuts. And it looks so cute and friendly, like something you'd peanut-pass. But oh, how looks can deceive! I got this game recommended by steam, I tried the demo and loved it. Then I bought the full game, and loved it as well. I was already quite satisfied with the initial magnet mechanics, which feel very rewarding when you manage to remember which polarity you need to use at each obstacle. The best part is that when you use the wrong one, you get flung in the opposite direction as if the game was personally telling you that you messed up. With vibrant art and soundtrack that keeps you wanting to…

If you are interested in the game and it's before January 3th, 2023, consider picking up the game as part of the current monthly bundle. Magnetized platforming. I enjoyed the first of the 4 worlds, then they decided to make the second world almost 30 unskippable ice levels where the formerly tight controls turn to ♥♥♥♥ as you slide all over the place. I'm sure worlds 3 and 4 will be enjoyable again, but this game is no way good enough to justify the frustration I'd have to endure to get there.

I played through the entirety of Celeste using a controller and never had drifting issues. I now tried this for about half an hour and had to stop playing the game because the character just kept going in a certain direction even after I stopped moving the stick. If you add the option to change the dead zone on controllers instead of the dumb implementation of sensitivity for controllers that doesn't make any sense I will give it another try.

Quick score: 5/5 Notes: Takes a bit to wrap your brain around the pulling/pushing mechanic and keeping track of what you need to do in real time, but once you get the hang of it, it's not bad. In this game you have 2 actions: attract and repel. But instead of i dunno having one button to attract and one to repel, which you know would MAKE SENSE. there is a button that attracts red and repels blue and one that attracts blue and repels red. that might not sound that bad. But when you are mid air it's just an extra headache to think of what is now the right button for the right action. It feels like the controls change all the time for no reason.

a cool platformer with a unique twist ! the story is very much secondary , and that shows but the visuals are cheery and the mechanics are well designed if you are interested in a somewhat challenging platformer with no jumping , this might be for you i maybe would wait for a sale , but you do you the final boss is a bit underwhelming , but there is still content after it so it isn't that big of a letdown

Certainly well made, good graphics and music, well polished. Unfortunately the design of the game feels at odds with itself - the game clearly wants you to go fast, but the level design doesn't allow for on-the-fly plays - later levels will require Red and Blue jumps in a specific order, spaced out to an extent where it's very difficult to understand what buttons you need to press without stopping and analyzing the screen, which slows down the game. It is, I suppose, the thinking man's Celeste

Just played 20 minutes of this, it's really cool. You don't have a jump button so the bumpers control what type of surface you can jump off. Red bumper attracts to blue walls, and repels off red walls. The game is tightly designed, and once I enabled Steam Input's deadzone, felt real nice. It's definitely inspired by Super Meat Boy in terms of level and world design. I'd say check it out!

AMAZING game. If you like Celeste or other precision platformers, you'll enjoy this game. Really good level progression, really crisp mechanics- very original take on the platformer genre. Watching this game really doesn't do it justice. When you try it for the first time, it feels like your brain is breaking. It's really unlike any other platformer. Huge sense of accomplishment when you get the star fragments too. 10/10 highly recommend.

I found this precision platformer to be fun, even if i constantly forgot the difference between red and blue. biggest gripe was the last level/boss being a time sink. most levels are only 10-20 seconds. the last boss takes 3 minutes and if you blue when you should have red you have to start all over. unless you turn on level checkpoints

I'm sure the delay before the colour shots activate plays an important role in balancing the game later. It made me get fed up with the game in the first dozen of levels. YMMV, I don't see myself picking this one up again - "fast-paced precision platforming" and "weird intentional input delays" aren't a good mix in my book. I honestly don't see the need for the delay, the shots are already limited to two per colour and if there's a need for them to be paced some time apart, why can't it just…

This badly done console (Switch) port is a precision puzzle platformer from Team 17, who really should know better to be pushing pixel shovelware. How the mighty have fallen. Anyway. I was in a spin for the first a few levels, too many things to do at the same time: move my character(left hand), spin the stick (right hand), thinking should I use blue or red magnet, which hand holds blue or red magnet, when to jump, control my landing...Especially Super Magbot is a fast game, though I can…

The idea for this game is great, it's the reason i bought it. But with this type of gameplay it doesn't really feel like a platformer. When I die it's because i pressed the wrong button not because i mis-calculated or mis-timed a jump. It sort of plays more like a rhythm game than a platformer. Super Magbot is one of the finest platformers I've played going all the way back to my introduction to the genre with Super Mario Bros. at five years old. There's no jumping. You aim your magnet with your right thumb, to propel or repel, and control Magbot's movement with your left. Twin stick platformer is an apt description. You get two red charges and two blues charges that are only recharged after landing on the ground. These limited charges add an element of problem solving to a game…

Super Magbot's a decent precision platformer that seems to have flown completely under the radar? With Magbot being unable to jump, this game plays in a completely differnet way compared to most other platformers, with aiming your mouse taking the place of the spacebar as your primary means of navigating your environment. Magbot's main tool is his magnetic power that allows him to attract himself to or repel himself from different magnetic blocks, which grow in variety as you play through the…

Another "wish we had a neutral review" games. The game is competent and there are fun levels (quite a few of them), but as you continue in the game it more and more isn't about finding the right strategies and pressing the right buttons, but at angling the directional thing just right + WAY too much controlled falling (that not even Celeste managed right all the time). This game is probably one of the most imaginative platformers I have ever played. The lack of a jump button takes some getting used to, but I love the fact that you can play it with just your mouse and keyboard. I'm halfway through the game, but I can already say the time I spent *not* playing it, I spent missing out big time. It's an incredibly polished platformer with a twist where instead of jumping you have two magnets that you can use to either attract to certain objects or get repelled from them. This simple concept gets explored throughout the game, and the level design, clean graphics, and fun music all create a thoroughly joyful experience.

The concept is great, but the execution ends up being painfully frustrating to play. Most of my deaths seemed to be from pushing the wrong button rather than messing up timing. What's the point of having a red and a blue magnet? It just makes things confusing. It should be a button for pull and a button for repel instead.

The whole game is just attracting or repelling based on the colors. It works well enough and starts off with good and fair difficulty. The main problems are in the mechanics.
