60 of 158 · most liked first8/10 – World War II, but With More Micromanagement Sudden Strike 4 drops you into large-scale World War II battles and asks you to win using strategy, positioning, and patience. You don’t build bases. You don’t spam units. You work with what you have and try not to get everyone killed. Every mission feels like a puzzle made of tanks, infantry, and questionable terrain choices. Flanking matters. Recon matters. Smoke matters. Everything matters. Combat is slower and more deliberate than most…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Back in the late 90's and early 00's you used to be able to buy a gaming magazine that would come with a disk. On that disk would be demo's of various upcoming games. Before the release of the original Sudden Strike game, I had TWO demo's of it and I replayed them many times. The original was fantastic. Its biggest and most obvious flaw to me was that the AI seemed to not suffer fog of war, and so you'd often get shot up before you could see the enemy. But it was still an awesome game. Then…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The original sudden strike games were iconic. You controlled thousands of units in epic massive battles that were realistic. In this one you basically control a small squad, and your infantry will heal back to full health no matter that they just took 5 tank shells to the head.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't really understand how you can use the words 'tactical' and 'realistic' in a historical RTS, then have a single infantry unit able to survive 3 direct hits with 75mm HE tank rounds. Couple that with vehicles running on a simple HP bar system and you just have a mess that simply doesn't feel good to anyone looking for something vaguely 'tactical' and 'realistic'
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seriously addictive! You can sink hours into just one mission within a campaign just to trying to preserve as many of your troops/tanks etc as possible! Mechanics/controls are easy enough to get on with and the graphics aren't too bad either. Well worth a buy if your into these kind of strategy games similar to AoE!! I'm no historian so I shan't comment on the accuracy of it from that perspective, but I doubt many of the battles played out how mine have!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels like Company of Heroes but with less variety and even more arcade-y. Definitely not for people who are into more intricate and realistic RTS games. The fog of war mechanic can be a bit extreme and just about every unit feels too tanky or too spongy for what it its. TL;DR if you don't like having to shoot infantry with a Stug III 6 times to kill them, don't play this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →本来觉得本作有诸多缺点一直不舍得给好评,直到开发团队端上来了‘突袭5’我才发现曾经有那么好的游戏我怎么就一直没给它一个好评呢。 I had played SuddenStrike4 for several years but I was still hesitated to give it a 'thumb up' due to some annoying game experiences. Until I taste the SuddenStrike5...Of course SuddenStrike4 you are deserve a 'thumb up'. 1. SS5 compressed with il2cpp that you CANNOT custom any data via UnityAssetBundlesExractor(UABE), SS4 win; 2. SS5 doesn't has any official map editor or something else, despite the official editor SS4 also…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not enough strategy for the hardcore players and to much strategy, clunkiness for normal players. Who was this game designed for? Also this game is just boring. My rating 5/10, not recommended.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sudden Strike 4 was my first contact with the Sudden Strike franchise. Before playing it, my experience with World War II RTS games mostly came from titles like Men of War and Company of Heroes, so I was curious to see what made this series so popular. After finishing the campaigns and DLCs, I think I found the answer: the original Sudden Strike probably earned its reputation years ago. Sudden Strike 4, however, feels like a franchise that stopped evolving. The game is not bad, but it…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically CoH 2 campaigns. Graphics are decent for such an old game. Dialogue is canned but not terrible. Original languages for soldiers. AI is kind of dumb for tanks and will let you down. Infantry AI is better. All in all, a good purchase for 3 euros. 100% recommending. Waiting for SS5.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a shell of the previous games. Completely lacking in everything that made the older games great. Even the poor voice actors sounded like they didn't want to be here, that or they used some weird AI generated voicing but either way the voice acting was appalling to say the least. The graphics are straight up nightmare fuel and somehow appears worse than the much older titles. Campaigns are unengaging, Tedious, frustrating and boring to the point of brain rotting. AI is completely…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sudden Strike 4 is a real-time tactics game set during World War II, and it attempts to revive the spirit of classic strategy games while updating them for modern audiences. Developed by Kite Games and published by Kalypso Media, the game brings large-scale, historical battles to life with a strong focus on positioning, tactical execution, and authentic wartime atmosphere. Rather than relying on resource gathering or base building like traditional real-time strategy games, Sudden Strike 4…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its just kind of ass.... the special doctrine stuff doesnt really matter because no matter if i pick infantry armored or support its virtually the same units(besides perks but even those overlap a bunch and generally from what ive experienced not that good or make or break. there is no cover so your guys die in like 4 seconds because for some reason enemies can see you before you can see them. there is no way of getting new units besides the scripted reinforcements but thats not much, normally…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lot of fun. No base building, If you do well you can get re-enforcement units.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game is the best.ive played the 1st sudden strike when it was first released and its only got better over the years. Please bring another 1 out,This game is the bomb #
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have play this game for 300 hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is really a quite enjoyable, fun and historical experience. You can play on easy and run through the campaigns without much fuss or play on normal and have a more tactical experience. I've really had a fun time completing the challenges on each mission which limit your forces in various ways such as no air support or the inability to steal enemy equipment, it is like solving a puzzle at times when determining how to attack a fortified enemy position. I can't speak much to how this game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game claims to be tactical, with individual infantry and small scale units engagements, but in reality it plays more like a Blitzkrieg game while giving you little to play around with. Wonky, slow, unresponsive. Infantry feels like it exists to be just little more than expendable spotter, with limited presense on the battlefield. The overdone shaders and bright graphics make it so lot of units that arent vehicles just melt with the background, making the already vast sea of small…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mhem. It's okay. Overly cartoony unrealistic depiction of ww2 RTS with disjointed campaigns. I played 4 missions and got bored.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It has numerous bugs. The number of missions you can't finish because the game is full of holes is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ astonishing. The Falaise Pocket mission is a perfect example. It literally won't end if there's even a single vehicle left behind, even if it's completely empty. Another example is the Fourth Battle of Kharkov. If you play the mission your own way and eliminate the enemies using your own strategy, you won't be able to progress because the game expects you to follow a specific…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Personally, I have enjoyed Sudden Strike 4 quite a lot. Yes, it might feel a bit arcade-y & simple compared to previous entries in the series, but it's still fun & has quite a lot tactical depths to it, specially in higher difficulties. Punishing as usual when you make mistakes. Can't wait for Sudden Strike 5!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Multiplayer is probably the most botched thing that could have ever been done to such a glorious IP. Where is the meticulous frontline setting? The guessing of where the enemy officers, snipers or general is? The long attrition war to guess if you have an opening for assaulting a zeppelin? The team play to create coordinated assaults? Nah… this is nonsense I frankly never saw such a poor implementation of multiplayer. Just select tanks, and units. Assault on a zeppelin. Wait for next wave.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →still a great game in 2025, rediscovered it recently. The way the stars are awarded could be more transparent.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even though it’s outdated now, it’s still a beautiful, well-made game with a great arcade feel. It’s a shame that the achievements involve such repetitive tasks (completing a mission with this doctrine, then that doctrine, and a third with this one, and so on...) The DLCs are short—too short. Especially when you love this kind of game. Still, they made the effort to introduce a few playable nations, even if, I know, there aren’t many missions—but still! Offering strategy without getting too…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is great, very hardcore in terms of RTS. Campaigns are amazing and can be quite difficult as well; Forcing you to make do with what forces the mission gives you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game...keep going back to it...looking forward to number 5...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's ok if on discount and you REALLY enjoy ww2 RTS games. But there are too many other better ones.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has the potential of being a fun game, and it is on Single-player for a few days. Then you feel the need to play Multiplayer, but 'Kalypso' game studio or whatever their name is refuses to acknowledge the broken Multiplayer lobby problem that plagues a great game. Apparently there are massive game connection issues, and the way Kalypso responded to this was telling players to get a reference from 'GOG' to jump through hoops on their internet settings to fix the issue. In reality,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pro's 1. Superb design. 2. Works in ultra wide screen (5120*1440) flawlessly (no lag) 3. Pacific DLC is especially worth it. Especially if you select scenari with a naval commander so that you play a naval battle using aircrafts on you carrier to destroy opponent's fleet. Con's 1. Battle of Kursk DLC is just a map in skirmish so forget about it. All other DLC's are fine if obtained at discounted rate. 2. Game philosophy : like a commando game you have units, rarely reinforcements and no…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great purchase (game plus all DLC) for under $15 when on sale. Lots of fun, infantry creeping up to toss grenades is really satisfying. My first Sudden Strike game, I'm happy with this buy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Low budget company of heroes. A little bit slow, but is a very chillaxed game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: Slow pacing, frustrating controls, bad unit AI. Moving around is slow and boring. The AI spots you way before you ever see it, and fights sometimes end with you wondering what happened. Enemies just seem to spawn behind you so managing multiple teams is difficult. The best strategy seems to make one huge group and roll around the map murdering everything. There is constant annoying chatter whenever you move or select units. The unit AI is terrible. They will just stand there and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's great. I was waiting for years to play it due to negative reviews but I am happy with the game. It is not and cannot be a ground breaking game like first one 27 years ago and that is why the hate it but I think it is very solid anyway.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best of the best
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →$30 game $78 DLC
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gas getting simulator. Gameplay is 80 percent driving all over the damn map searching for fuel for your vehicles. The other 20 percent is actually fighting the enemy I don't mind the fuel mechanic but here I find it's overdone and annoying. It should not get in the way of actually playing the game! Matches take too long because of the fuel mechanic and are mostly boring. Multiplayer is dead. I do not recommend
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best save & load game around. every 5 min you have to quick save and load but beware never ever accidentally hit save instead of quick load button or vice versa.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bring back multiplayer!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best RTS games out there. I wish they would come out with a new one or new campaigns
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A delightful game where everything is enjoyable. This is especially true if you're looking for a strategy game where you don't just throw in as many soldiers as possible and hope for the best, because this game is unforgiving. You have to focus on each soldier individually, or your forces will crumble like Lego bricks, and you hear Master Yoda scream.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →hidden gem, underated even in discount and standard edition offer more hours. there are some difficult mission and the game want you to be resourcefull or lure the enemy to your own traps. overall love and hate this game is gem. there's a solo bonus mission where you play as ragtag to steal or sneak in enemy teritory kinda like commando rts does but only 3. reccomend all dlc but pacific war and desert afrikan campaign is really good. I play mostly on igpu which have power of z2 cpu…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game's really fun and I really like playing missions for the first time. For replayability, you can head over to multiplayer, but I don't really play multiplayer. I'd advise you to play it, because even though it's a strategy game, it doesn't require too much brainpower compared to other games like HOI4.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just got Sudden Strike 4 and have played for 32 hours of which I've enjoyed 32 hours! It was exactly what I was looking for! Its a great RTS game along the lines of age of empires or StarCraft, but is based on WW2. The units are accurate to history and the battles are challenging, requiring a variety of strategies.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game! Should remaster with better graphics!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best strategy that I ever played.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. Good fun. Briefing voices & accents are off-putting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great game. played all day long when i was young from ss1 to ss2. not bad ss4. waiting for SS5.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nostalgic sudden strike 2, good rts strategy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →BEST WW2 Strategy game out there! Looking forward to SS5! If you see a flare, expect a QRF.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its alright, decent game but it not perfect and is flawed. For an arcade rts ww2 game its a reasonable price at 20$, but the dlcs are only worth whole if they are on sale. The modding support sucks for this game so there will not be a lot of modding options to improve the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game improvement graphic and a lot of thing equipment, and there is a bomb resistance with heavy tank too like realistic good job
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best WW2 RTS game for me, been enjoying sudden strike since early 2000s. Sudden Strike 4 is more forgiving compared to the previous ones, really enjoyed all the single player campaigns and DLCs. Can't wait for for Sudden Strike 5, keep up the good work guys!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so many bugs on mac os dont buy its a trap......
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Been in my library and had never gotten around to it. I play Steel Division, COH, GOH, MOW, WARNO, Broken Arrow etc. and never realized I had this gem. Very good, I actually prefer to it the new Sudden Strike 5, although Sudden Strike 5 is still good. This game takes a bit to get used to, but once things, "click" it is very fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't recommend it unfortunately. Too much of a slog to be fun, and there's no real tactical depth
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Slop. Full stop. As soon as you start the game, you'll notice the game's presentation that would feel right at home on a Pay-2-Win Android game app. The camera doesn't really let you zoom in or out much, so you'll be playing the entire game at the "zoom-level" you see in the screenshots. This game functionally serves as one-sided WW2 propaganda and doesn't preserve any shades of historical accuracy from the conflict. It's goes for the big and dumb "Saving Private Ryan" approach. I'd argue…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bear in mind Sudden Strike 4 was released in 2017, so it's nearly 10 years old as I write this review. I prefer Company Of Heroes 3 to Sudden Strike 4 - but that's not to say Sudden Strike 4 is terrible. A big difference between the games is how your tanks and vehicles in SS4 need to be refueled and re-armed mid battle. So logistics are quite important. Some of the missions are strange in that if you do what you are originally asked to do you will lose - say take a bridge - because as soon…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Огрызок без DLC, всего 28 миссий.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is good,, and i like it because it reminds me a lot of "AFRICA KORPS" vs "DESERT RATS", and the "D-Day" games, but on "STEROIDS", with better aesthetics, gameplay and everything else, from the "Monte Cristo" publisher, but "COULD THE DEVS FURTHER INCREASE THE ZOOM IN AND OUT? SPECIALLY THE ZOOM IN," "A LOT", I'm saying this because it does make the game experience "WAY LOT BETTER", better aesthetics, easier management, specially when handling with "INFANTRY", when you're playing a…
