Although this game can't quite decide what it wants to be - it's closer to modern casual room escape puzzles than it is to traditional point-and-click games, and yet there are still too many "randomly combine things until they work" moments - it has a very distinct feel; the music is especially atmospheric, the voice acting is OK and the graphics are pretty. The pseudo-3d approach is a bit annoying at times, with some puzzles reliant entirely too much on finding the exact angle needed to locate…

A case study in wasted potential. This could have been a good game, but instead we get: * Weak and predictable story * Terrible game design * Many parts of the game feel extremely player-unfriendly - and not in the term of puzzle difficulty (which tends to be crud) but by lack of any meaningful feedback if there's something missing (the boolean key puzzle will drive you nuts, and there's a more complex version of it waiting later on) * Item puzzles with NO indication as to the goal (good luck…

I am a big fan of the Syberia games made by the same company, so I found Subject 13 to be somewhat disappointing. The graphics and music are okay, some of the puzzles are good but there are too many sliding tile puzzles, so it becomes a little repetitive and not very original. The worst part of the game is the controls though. The different cursor views confused me for a while and having to hold down the mouse button and press two different things just to do one action... pretty frustrating.…

Nonsensical puzzles and a lousy story make for a crappy adventure game. I mean, any time you have an adventure game that doesn't let you combine item 1 and 2, but does let you combine item 2 and 1 it is fundamentally broken. Glad I kickstarted it if only to give the Flashback dude another shot, but he really blew it in my opinion. Don't bother with it. 3/10.

One thumb up. Not two. Game is not overly difficult at all. Pixel hunting and cursor control seem to be the most challenging part. Many of the puzzles are based upon ideas that have been used before. Mayan math and the dreaded minesweeper are two of the most prominent. Played most of it in previous games over the years. The graphics are just as old as most off the puzzles. Not a bad game but not a game where you say " WOW" . Probably a good challenging game for newbies to the genre. Hardcore…

Subject 13 * 6/10 I obtained this game in a free public mass giveaway organized from microids itself An anonymous beginning for an interesting story. Tis is an "Almost" classic point & click game, with riddles and exploration. More of the first and less of the second. INTRO & GAMEPLAY. What is Subject 13 about & how does it work? A game with as many flaws as it has puzzles! Interface issues and the mouse not being recognised, which prevent you from progressing through the game... It’s absolutely ridiculous to have games where the issues haven’t been fixed – thumbs down, lads...

an excellent adventure game. Alot like myst. puzzles not hard nor easy - just right. story excellent told gradually and captivating . you gradually get around the island or where ever you are- not quite sure yet - dont want to say anyway for fear of spoiling. Its not one of those games that you "get lost" and dont know what to do next. You always no what to do mainly to get further. applicable music for the atmosphere. It pains me to say that for a Microids game but this is a real mess.... Puzzle machanics that seem like they are designed for touch screens. Clunky movement. Performance is horrid. The puzzles were extremely simplistic. And the last straw: The last puzzle is designed horribly as far as clarity is concerned. It's really simple, but it's almost impossible to see what is happening. Not recommended.

The minesweeper killed it. I've enjoyed the game so far despite perfectible interactions and overall "already seen" atmosphere but the last puzzle is a pain in the a**. Seriously I don't know if it's a trick to stretch out game's life or a not tested puzzle but it's freakishly too long to solve, no directions whatsoever on how interactions work and bugs that made me start over 3 times.

An adequate puzzle game, nestled in disappointing packaging. The puzzle types are standard (some inventory-based, some sliders, etc), though a few do stand out as novel twists on the formula. Unfortunately, the lack of a save system means that you will have to play through the entire game again to revisit those gems. (Achievement Hunters beware: one achievement is granted for completing a certain puzzle quickly, so take longer than the threshold and prepare for your full replay) The game…

Amazing game with great graphics and a good story line. The puzzles are hard, you might even need to look into the items you just picked up for clues or modify them. Just randomly clicking and unlocking something wont work in this game, you really have to think it out.

I really wanted to like this Subject 13 because I'm generally a fan of puzzle-solving games, but I feel like there are too many rough edges here to ever settle in and enjoy it fully. I got off to a rough start because the controls are not intuitive. The game's launcher has an option to customize controls, which is misleading because it's mouse-only. As a result, I spent the first several minutes mashing buttons on my keyboard and becoming frustrated because nothing seemed to be working.…

Not the game I expected from Paul Cuisset. (Future Wars, Cruise for a Corpse, Flashback...) The atmosphere, soundtrack and scenario are intringuing at first, and make you want to know more. It feels like a mix between Lost and Portal, who can dislike this ? The problem is overall the game feels like a failed soufflé when you finish it. Some puzzles are fairly okay, but some others are disconnected from the story and are only here to artificially inflate the game length. Tight budget yes, but…

The game is alright and I would recommend it if you are into point & click puzzle games, but it's not a 10/10. The visuals and music are okay, and the puzzles are fine if not a bit confusing/frustrating to solve sometimes. The game is fully voiced, which is always good. It is a bit on the short side though, I finished a full playthrough in 4-5 hours, listening to all audio logs and solving every puzzle without skipping.

Subject 13 isn't a bad game, I more or less enjoyed it, and I don't regret buying or playing it, BUT I don't think it is one that I would recommend to the average player. If you're a puzzle fiend, however, and particularly fond of MYST-like games, hidden object-style games, or the Room Escape series, this might still be a decent addition to your library if you pick it up on sale. The game is composed of four short chapters and should take roughly 5-7 hours to complete; each chapter gives you…

I wanted to like this game, because I'm a fan of Portal and puzzle-solving games, and the premise seemed interesting. Sadly, I found this game quite boring to play. The biggest issue for me was the severe limitation of movement. It is basically a pixel-hunting point-and-click adventure, reminiscent of the "Escape"-style games. Each chapter is basically a room you have to escape from. The voice acting is terrible, and the journal entries you find along the way did little to make me care…

I really wanted to like this game, it had such potential. The first couple of chapters were so much fun to explore but that fell apart quickly. As other reviewers have noted some of the puzzles are just....impossible to figure out on your own. The game was initially fun, but as the game progressed, some of the puzzles ruined the game for me. I don't want to give away the game, but certain parts of the game were so bad, I feel I need to say something. The game lacked imagination and there was a lot of potential to do something creative which was then ruined by bad design. SPOILER: Don't read if you don't want to know. This game started off well: The puzzles were logically consistent, and the "failed science" plot seemed promising. However, the puzzles soon became repetitive, and the environments you could explore were very limited. While the story was fleshed out, there wasn't really any character development, and oh, could there have been! However, two things killed it for me: 1) I couldn't save, and the "checkpoints" I would start back at if I closed the game were not clearly marked. I had to keep…

This is a frustrating mechanic, and I'd rather play something else. The very first puzzle for me was bugged, and gave no feedback at all. I had to restart the game to zoom out with the mouse wheel.
