One of the best titles on Steam, despite languishing in almost complete obscurity, 7.62 High Caliber is a Russian-made real-time/pauseable squad tactics game with a stupid name and an absurd attention to detail that permeates nearly every aspect of its design. Yes, I do mean *absurd.* Take the magazine out of a gun, and its in-game model will reflect…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to love this game. I love turn/semi-turn based tactical shooters/RPG's. (and have been playing them since ones like Xcom and MOM, or even the 'Gold Box' series for the C-64 were originally released). It's a great concept/start. And while the same ~9 male or female faces, and running around to various cities asking tons of people the same questions does get tiring - I am more than willing to forgive those little things. You REALLY need to add the community mods (Blue Sun Mods,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the three Apeiron games, famous with its game engine, made exactly for squad-based tactical wargames simulations. Recently it was updated with Hard Life community mod, which optimized some of the game's features and edged to maximum its strong and weak sides. In short, I can suggest and propose that game only to quite a small cohort of true fans of tactical squad-based games a-la "Jagged Alliance". In fact, community-upgraded versions of 7.62 and Brigade E5, another Apeiron game, are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I honestly don't know how to feel about this game. On one hand it's a game that's just overflowing with massive flaws. The graphics are ♥♥♥♥, a ♥♥♥♥ ton of buildings are copied and pasted (seriously, every town has the same damn hospital and bar), the UI is pretty unintuitive, and the game is buggy as ♥♥♥♥ and prone to crashes. Still though, it's a game that's just bursting with ideas. The inventory is complex and rather interesting. You want to be able to do more than just sling a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good Tactical-Shooter game. This game has every details of how-tactical-game-should-be and realistic combat system. Cons of this game including bugs, poor graphics and having none subtitles.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7.62 High Calibre is a Strategy Game developed by Apeiron and is the sequel to the game Brigade E5. It almost feels like a spirtual successor to the old Jagged Alliance games, which have influenced many games in their time. This game does not fail to impress, and emulate all the key elements of Jagged Alliance which made it such a good series, while bringing new features to the table. Based in the fictional nation of Algeira, a country just north of Brigade E5's previous warzone, you are a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A brutal, unforgiving tactical game with semi-realistic guns and gun mechanics. The real-time with pause gameplay adds real diversity to the value of various weapons: a faster-drawing, lighter gun gets lead on target earlier than a larger, heavier-hitting one. Sometimes you'll want a pistol, other times a SMG or carbine, and others a full-size rifle, sniper rifle, or machinegun. It depends on the situation you find yourself in and how much time you have to prepare. It's a great change from…

This is the game for you. Enjoy chilling with your band of merry men and women on scenic <totally not Venesuelan> beaches, blackmail trans prostitutes or put a .45 in a chaser for not showing a lady proper respect. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If only this game get a remake with better graphics and UI. Don't get me wrong, this is a good tactical shooter.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept of this game is what tactical shooters should be. This game fails on the basics of a good game though. Few good points: The amount of guns, the different brands of ammo (Brown Bear or WPA), inventory system is what should be in every game. This game also adds the mechanic of having magazines for guns. So you don't reload the gun (unless its an internal magazine) you reload the magainzes and load those into the gun, this allows for a lot more realism that is missing from other…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(note: i prefer the 'hard life' version of this game, despite the fact that iteration suffers from humorous translation problems. being able to customize how easy or hard 7.62 is a big plus for me in hard life) This is easily the greatest X-COM/Jagged Alliance alike you've never played. I am going to tell you why, with a bit history on the side. Long before Aperion was founded and way back in the 90s, Vladimir Ufnarovskiy finished his college degree and proceeded to make his first computer…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is what every squad based tactical shooter game should be like. Only Thing this game was missing is better graphics and less bugs which graphics is never a big a deal to me on games. I found this game similar to my very first tactical shooter game which was called "Cold Zero". This game has every weapon i could think of during its time period including attachments and equipments. Combat was kinda clunky at times.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is such a hard review to make as its really mixed. First of all if you wish to play it, ensure you're running BSM mod. I run it alongside Mercapocalypse that adds new mercs and guns and I see that as the "definitive" 7,62 experience, that is without making it "hardcore" like 7,62 Hard Life. With all that being said I can't in good faith recommend what is still a fundamentally broken experience. It's strengths fundamentally lie in its gun porn and that's partly why I keep coming back to…

You have an extensive campaign with skills and experience, similar to a typical RPG. You also have combat that happens in real-time, but can be paused to give orders to your party, similar to games like Pillars of Eternity. Then you have the in-depth combat system that models individual bullets with dozens of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(Played with the dev endorced Blue Sun and Mercapocalypse mod) Brilliant simulation of an anarcho capitalist utopia: zillions of guns and explosives accessible to everyone who can pay for them, just about everyone open-carries everywhere (schools and hospitals included), you can execute communists in broad daylight in front of cops and they won't do ♥♥♥♥, you can own slaves that will fight for you to the death or just regular old sex slaves, you can set your own tax rates, dialogue that is so…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's clunky and broken as ♥♥♥♥ but at the same time once you learn how to play it, it's very fun. Mercin around with an East German AK, PKM, and scoped Mosin Nagant in the jungle, hunting down rebels is good fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →you can divide my time in this game as so: 30% playing the game -- acting out quests, shooting the bad guys, trekking the maps, etc. 30% selecting what guns to use -- there are so many freakin guns. i spend an equal amount of time looting and reorganizing as i do killing folk. 15% reloading saves because i did not like the outcome of the particular firefight, you can't always do good but you can always do better. 10% searching the interweb for help on quests, usually only finding it in russian…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As an American I am inclined to approve of guns and by extention bullets. Also as an American I am naturally mistrustful of "re" instead of "er". Cautious recommendation.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →See my play time? That was me trying to get this game to just work right. Never did happen and even at best i could barely read anything cause the font was to fuzzy but making the font unfuzzy ment no store or picking things up. Game seems great with detail but I don't want to fight a game this hard just to tackle a learning cliff on how to play when i finally get it working right.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tired of enemies walking through walls and my mercenaries getting stuck in walls. Even with Blue Sun Mod this is a very buggy game. The tactics aspect is quite interesting, but the bugs make it a quite aggravating and the game descends into save scumming because of these bugs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From nearly 1000 games that I own, this one has to be in my top 5 without any doubt! This has depth, variety and even at the easiest setting, is challenging! A huge variety of weapons to buy and mod, mercs to hire, missions to complete and a pretty good visual setup considering its age. This comes as much gameplay focused as it is pleasing to the eye and has a good attention to details. Save often because something is always around that corner that you had'nt ex[ected! Buy it today!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This country is a cesspool of emotional bandits who can't handle someone having a different opinion than them. As soon as they hear something different than they believe they start yelling every derogatory remake and insult their little minds can remember. All of them being from some talking point indoctrination they saw on their phone recently. When you point out facts to back up what you say they start screeching, whining, and yelling like a toddler having a temper tantrum. It is hilarious…

You are a mercenary tasked to find a russian who stole from colleagues who hired you. There's some RPG elements inside. You will need to find clues, upgrade yourself, hire other mercenaries, equip them, find your target. You know who he is, you don't know what he has. You'll find him, and when you do, you'll know what he has and you need to…

I eventually located the Mayor and swiftly punched him to death before being hunted down by the police officers who shot me mercilessly even after I laid on the ground wounded. I had to restart the game and the alcohol was still banned after midnight.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this game, very enjoyable. Just SO many bugs, even with the MOD on. Crashes to desktop every 8th or 9th time I go to the map, many times your units become stuck on boxes while looting or in walls while running around or fighting, the MOD adds much content, but I have noticed some of the MERCS you get become bugged when you try to heal them at a hospital and simply just vanish and never come back, many missions seem buggy and dont appear to work as they should. Just so many crashes make me…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. Hundreds of guns, many attachments and equipments, countless ways to win the battles and a huge, open-world environment. What else do you need for a game like this?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have you ever wanted to be ambushed in a tight forest path by seventeen black men? Now this game lets you experience that sensation and satisfactory.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this game because everybody praised it for it's realism, got in the game, I drop my gun accidentally next to an NPC because I didn't know the controls because there is no tutorial btw, and the hitbox for the NPC is so wide I can't pick my gun back up, I can only interact with the NPC... Is that the realism you all are talking about ?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Jagged Alliance 2 1.13 and Silent Storm, you'll love this. Wish a good studio would pick up the property and polish it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really good game. Quite buggy and it takes some time to get used to the controls, though. Lots of guns, really good combat and ballistics. Played it with the BSM mod which fixes several bugs and adds tons of weapons and quests.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good game, but the Hard Life mod is much better. Play that instead of Vanilla.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First and foremost, this game is a buggy mess even with the fan patch so dont confuse this game for something so fun and complex you want to replay it Your options is either deal with the fan patch + mods and the rather infamous quality of writing of Blue Sun Mod, or just buy it for the hardlife addon + mods, i can say that just the game with patch and mods is hard and puts you in a situation of swim or drown due to no tutorial nor anything approaching to it in game, so youre left stumbling…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another typical Russian game with bugs, bad translation and clunky game mechanics. Save your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wanted to try this game out, but it crashes way too much. I have a ton of games to bother dealing with trying to solve this. However, it appears that there is no real solution if you're using Win10. People say you have to save game and exit and keep doing that throughout playing. No thanks. My time is way too valuable to keep doing such a thing. I cannot recommend this game for free or for pay if you're using Windows 10. Some people say it's worth it, but it's up to you to decide what you'd…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A buggy but great real time strategy game, just look on the fourms to fix some bugs and maybe install Blue Sun mod on a second playthrough which you can do via steam beta, so you'll have a version with alot more guns (over 300) and a lot less bugs, only real complaint is memory leak crashses, but the crashes quickly boot you to desktop so you can quickly get back in the game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a big fan of turn based games liek X Com and Jagged Alliance 2. So I tried this. It is an abysmal, buggy mess. The gameplay is tedious and clunky, devolving into a mind numbing string of endless attack or defend missions that are all the same. I got so fed up I just planted explosives at the very obvious spawn points before teh enemy got there and blew them up themoment they arrived, just to get it over with. Has a huge variety of weapons using teh BSM mod included, and the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am not a huge fan of Strategy/Simulator games, but I can see the highlights of 7,62 High Calibre which makes it a classic. Since the game was released on 2007, don’t expect it to be top notch with the graphics, effects or the audio like the games released today. The features listed on the Store page remains true to its word and if there was one thing I liked most were the variety of guns and character’s to choose from. When you first start, you will be given the option to select your…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →overview: has lots to love if you want to put the time and effort into it, but for something to jump in and just start having fun, look elsewhere. This game definately has a following, sadly I cannot say I am part of it. It has huge amounts of customizability between the weapons, stats, and approaches but I couldnt get into this game like I could other tactical games. The camera is odd to control at best, and initially getting into the game can be a hurdle.
