Sum-Up In Scrapnaut players take the role of a stranded survivor crashed on an unknown, bleak planet populated by murderous machines. After meeting an unlikely ally, the protagonist will engage in a series of dangerous quests; building, scavenging and fighting his way through the wasteland, with leaving the planet as final objective. 🟩 Pros 🟥 Cons - Enjoyable base defense / building aspects. - Exploration and progression are cleverly combined. - Survival mechanics are fair,…

There's probably a great game in here, but I cannot get past the UI and control scheme. Camera rotation defaults to Q and E with no way to rebind it to a more intuitive right click and drag. On controller, it's d-pad left and right instead of the right stick. You can rebind this in the steam controller configuration, but then you have to figure out how to get the build menu to work because you can only navigate it with the right stick. Even if you persist long enough to get through that, the…

It's a technically sound game, but very quickly runs out of interest. There's too little to do, too few things you can make, and after about an hour you've been able to build near enough everything worth building. There's a massive map to explore, but considering you can only build in the 1 or 2 pre-designated building sites... there's very little reason to do anything. This isn't a bad game to be clear... but it's absolutely the kind of game that the second I put it down I lose all interest…

4/10, at best. Wanted to like this game. Like Scrap Mechanic meets Force of Nature. The aesthetics were nice. The music is nice. The entire rest of the game falls completely flat. Very early on, you can get a drill that lets you automatically harvest all the materials you'll need for the endgame. No work involved, it just provides you with everything. You can literally skip ALL the intermediate armor, and just go to the end, if you've gotten enough skill books. Which you can easily do.…

Will this game have a ROADMAP or something? Because that 1-minute video has already showed the whole gameplay. 希望游戏出一个未来更新路线图,游戏可玩性已经在那个1分钟视频里全部体现出来了。 The main problem is that ... most of the places you can explore on the map are just to increase your Crafting Skills level. That's it...Whether it’s Shelters, Camps, Stonehenge, Temples... Maybe you can set some traps or let players meet more different type of enemies or just more tasks to make this game more challenging. Because to those…

This game has a lot of potential but the control scheme is BAD. The controls are non-intuitive and often i end up cancelling out of menus or just bouncing items from my quick bar to my inventory while trying to move them to a chest. Any fun to be had in the game is just instantly sunken under the clunky base building, especially anything relating to power management/batteries/power lines. Placing items gives you no clear indicator if it'll pass power or not and you can't move things, just…

This game gets more frustrating (instead of challenging) as it progresses. I failed to finish the game due to a bug, and out of prior frustration I will not seek further support. I'm done. In the early game, you would be introduced to a pretty good and streamlined onboarding/tutorial sequence. I didn't mind much about the repetitiveness of the game (which is pretty much common and unavoidable in Open World Survival Craft games like this anyway), but it started getting to me the moment I got…

Basically a short game to kill a bit of time once. Is it nice? So-so. Will you play it for long? Nope. Will you ever want to replay it? Nope. It's mediocre at most in almost any game aspect (mechanics): - poor survival: hunger become not a problem quickly with a small farm and there are so much food, laying as a loot around; - poor combat: only melee, switching to melee stance/back is not working reliably, fight is all about starting hitting enemy from behind/waiting for boss to stop moving; -…

It seems like this developer hasn't learned from any of the mistakes of previous survival games. The combat is boring and repetitive, once you hit your first enemy that's exactly what the combat is the entire game, no long ranged weapons or different effects from other melee weapons, just a slight bump in damage for each tier. I really want to like this game but I don't want to sit in the first area farming materials for 10 hours just so I can get to the next zone, even the smelting of ores…

And I have spent like 7h in the game xD until we fought the final boss, so you can imagine there is no game there.

Scrapnaut is a game I enjoy, but as far as trying to recommend this to anyone else is where this game starts to struggle. As far as the survival / crafting mechanics and combat mechanics go, it is as basic as it comes. Farm for food that also heals oneself, and harvest resources to upgrade gear, that is it. However, if one is looking for a more laid back turn your brain off experience then this is perfect. Though, if one wants an in-depth survival crafting game this is not it. Thus, Scrapnaut…

I played through the entire game alongside a friend. It’s clear that this is the work of a smaller studio, and whether or not you enjoy the unique setting will depend on personal taste—but I found the overall spirit of the game refreshing. That said, there were several aspects that became frustrating. The constant back-and-forth walking, often just to deliver small and relatively unimportant resources, quickly felt repetitive and slowed down the experience. In addition, there were many moments…

Based on my experience, I recommend playing this game with friends; otherwise, you may get bored rapidly. The game is a fairly simple survival game with basic survival elements and a mediocre story. However, when playing with friends, the game is not bad. In fact, it becomes fun due to the interesting exploration element it contains. My friends and I gave it a score of 5/10, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. If the story had been more developed, we would have given it a higher score.

I finally scagged Scrapnaut today at a 50% discount cause I've been wanting to play it for some time but I wasn't sure it'd be worth it. The crafting/survival/exploration community in Steam is large and this game had far too few reviews to suggest it was spectacular. After a couple hours however, I gotta say I'm unimpressed. Despite what some other reviews suggest I found the graphics perfectly fine for a survival game and in-fact I rarely care about graphics in this sort of game. In a lot of…

To get a thumbs-up experience, play this with at least one friend, and get it heavily discounted. Otherwise, seriously, don't bother. Somebody attacked my profile because I tried to half-thumbs-up a game. It was weird. And unfortunate, because this is barely-a-thumbs-up, with a list of caveats, and yeah, I'm gonna get into it all. What you've got is your typical craft-and-survive sort of game. Farm foods, dig metals, smack enemies (in the form of weird, ungainly robot-blobs). It's a…

This game Wasted its potential. You don't even have to build something to survive. No need to sleep, no need to build house... There is no gender selection in character creation. Most of the craftable stuff is unnecessary... Exploring is unnecessary... Controls with controller are just bad and no remapping option. sad :(

Runs very poorly; a very tedious and hamfisted story; and all the movement, animations, placement, crafting etc feels super ridged. The concept is neat, but the execution looks and plays like it was made by a overly ambitious and directionless team of indie devs. For this costing more than Don't Starve, which is better in pretty much every way, this game is beyond terrible- it feels like a scam. I'm not sure where all these positive comments come from. Of course the game has a quite interesting mechanic and nearly all it needs is already there (just lacks some additional content). However: - All the best items and gear can be obtained within the first hours of the game. - The best resources are available nearly right from the start. - The skillbooks are abundant (same as resources) and easy to obtain - There's no need to build a solid base, really, as you just move on to the next…

I completed the game in approximately 8 hours with a friend, and overall, it was a great co-op experience. The game features survival, crafting, and some combat mechanics. While enjoyable, it does have some areas that could be improved. The map can be a bit confusing, and there are minor bugs, but nothing that significantly affects gameplay. Towards the end, the game becomes a little repetitive, but for just $2, it's a great deal. If you're looking for a budget-friendly co-op game to play…

The game is stable and fluid, but not as fun as I expected it to be. The fight system is boring and very crappy and the base building consists of only farming (like 5 types of crops, and 5 dishes) and what is necessary to build your tools and weapons and some defense towers. To call it base building simulation is correct but improper because it is way too basic. The story is not better.

Edit September 15, 2021: The developers did a great job fixing this game and it's now pretty fun to play. Making better bases actually makes sense now in the new areas. Combat is better than it was but I still think it has issues that don't make sense (a shield you can't upgrade that only blocks 1 in 5 hits, no dodge mechanic, and no ranged weapons). This game has some potential, but at the moment, it feels terribly uninspired. The end goal is pretty clear from the start, but there's no world building. I got as far as the 3rd zone and I didn't care about anything I was seeing. Like, okay, there's pollution. Why though? On the topic of pollution, calling it a threat is VERY generous. It's the first thing you do in the zones to fix that thing that builds any kind of tension. There's food needs, but you can pretty easily overcome that with…

Oh god...... I want to like this so bad. But it just ends up eating your time mid-late game to just extend playtime I think. - Drills basically make mining useless in the second zone. Just get a bunch. - The is only one boss type, though they do change the model once. - The "puzzles" constantly involve you running back to base to build something. Pro-tip just carry 20 of each chip and crystal on you. I think if this game ended in half the time I'd give it a thumbs up as about that's when…

An entertaining and well made little game with simple yet well implemented mechanics that offer enough diversity in gameplay to help it remain interesting and entertaining despite the rather stark amount of information in the tooltips and the somewhat repetitive survival and combat loop. Certainly a solid 7/10, perhaps even a 8/10 in those circumstances where you're craving a survival game without the intense amount of grind to get to the "survival" aspect.

Scrapnaut is a distinctive entry in the survival-sandbox genre, a game that trades the gritty realism of most survival experiences for a whimsical yet industrial steampunk world seen from an isometric perspective. Developed by SpiffyBit and published by RockGame S.A., it invites players into a world of brass gears, mechanical ruins, and wide-open wilderness where ingenuity and adaptation determine how long you last. Rather than focusing on constant combat or fast-paced survival tension,…

There's just no automation to make gathering and refining less time consuming. And the robots attack EVERYTHING, so making kill boxes to funnel them into turrets is worthless.
