Bad game. Almost zero gameplay and it's repetitive as hell, repetitive music that gets on your nerves, poorly optimized (i guess this is cryengine). Double jump is crazy and buggy and can be exploited. This is not a game, it's a technical demo with human input.

‘Beautiful but infuriating’ … Review done. Oh how I wish it was that easy. Honestly though, this game looks absolutely amazing graphically but just doesnt hit the mark with actual gameplay. Its not that the levels are ridiculously hard or anything, theres just so many issues with responsiveness and mechanics that it really (and I mean REALLY REALLY) gets on your nerves.

Rolling Sun is a platformer game made on CryEngine. The gameplay could be boring or even annoying... but its ok if your purpose is to relax rather to have fun. The collectibles are made to guide player rather than challenge. I've found only 3 of them pretended to be hidden. Double-jump ability is a cheating: when you get it after 2nd level, you mainly forget about deaths and restarts. Music is decent, but it could be better. Good question is why devs didn't make more places where you should…

I have no clue which bundle I got this game from, but friends trust me as a former console peasant I declare that the control is bad, not just simply bad, but really bad. What you will see might be beautiful, but what you have to do will make the game unpalatable.

As others have stated, the controls are a bit unresponsive; although the game responds to movement inputs very well, it seems to fail to respond to jumps quite a lot. In any other game this would be gamebreaking - here it is a mild annoyance. This game is very unchallenging - it strikes me that the developer built this game with careful people in mind, while not noticing that many "difficult" segments involving thin rods that you have to maneuver past can be merely jumped through. Moreover,…

This game kills itself in a couple ways for me, namely that while set like a 2D platformer with a camera locked from a sidescrolling perspective, the game is 3D and is incredibly frustrating because depth and invisible walls kill any kind of third axis movement. The music is okay, and the scenery is gorgeous, but there are a number of sound artifacts that kill it for me. On top of that, the ball has a absolute ton of momentum. It is hard to control, and the game requires very fine movements,…

Feels more like a tech demo to demonstrate the physics and lighting than a game. The game itself reminds me of Super Monkey Ball crossed with a 2.5D side scrolling platformer. Level 3 was mired with graphical bugs. Plays decently on Steam Deck. Took less than an hour to complete.

You start the game. It runs in low resolution. You change the resolution and it works, but those setting will never be saved - so next time you run the game, it's again in low res. And of course you can only use xbox controller. Well, I tried with xc360ce, but it didn't work for this... "game". At this point I've lost the interest, even without playing the actual game. Some of those indie devs, they don't even care for the most basic stuff. Or they lack skills. Probably both.

There are games like Marble Blast Ultra and Super Monkey Ball, which in essence are the same basic concept (rolling a ball around collecting things). The thing is, those games are fun. This one is not. It is painful to even play and I had to force myself to complete the first level just to give it a chance. Games like this need puzzle elements and absolutely should not be side scrolling. That is the fatal mistake here. It just means you roll to the right and jump continuously whilst getting…

I liked the first level and I would have written a positive review had I not played any further. The graphics are nice (although it requires way to powerful hardware for such a "primitive" game), I don't mind the repetitive music that much and in the first level, the difficulty of the jumps was balanced well against the slowly responding controlls (you are playing a heavy stone ball - it can't change its movement-state that fast). At the start of the second level however, there is a sequence…

It is beautiful! But it is hard, which is great. But the worst, absolute worst thing they could have done?! It DOES NOT SAVE YOUR PROGRESS Now let me tell you how this could make a person want to cry at 3 a.m. playing a game rolling a ball around. When you're stuck in one spot for 30 minutes because you…

Rolling Sun is a My First Indie Game-quality platformer where you control a rolling ball with physics, instead of a normal character, and attempt to reach the end of each level while picking up all the glowing energy balls on the way. It's a bit frustrating at first, when all you have is awkward movement (it was often hard for me to tell if I was too close to or far from the camera to land on a platform) and a single jump, but over the course of the six levels, you gain a double jump, an air…

I like the graphics and the concept of physics gameplay. I hate the laggy result which makes it almost impossible to control the ball and of course makes you lose most of the time. If you lose, it auto-loads from a previous spot, but it's not a standard spot so you might have to pass the same difficult spots again and again.. I played this game for about an hour, and it only made me angry and write this review. If these issues get fixed, it might be an amusing game. Until then, no.

This game will satisfy you if you just want to roll and jump around a beautiful environment. Otherwise if you want an actual fun and challenging platformer for a few dollars more wait for Snake Pass to go on sale, since it is similar but outclasses Rolling Sun in every way. That is mostly because Rolling Sun seems to just be a tech demo for the engine, and while it is visually impressive there just isn't enough actual game here. i'll recommend this but ONLY because the price is quite reasonable for the product you get. this game looks really good thanks to the cryengine. however that's the best thing about this game already. the game is very basic with casual difficulty. for a "rolling ball" game this one is shockingly slow to play. where other games give you a forward facing camera you get a weird side view in this one. you can't see what's ahead so you need to go slow at all times. there are no secrets or hidden…

This is basically a platformer where you control a ball (which, strangely, can jump). What do you need for a great platformer? Good camera, tight controls and solid performance. But this game totally lacks any of that, making even the first level painful and frustrating. I got this one in a Humble Bundle, but you should avoid buying this at all costs. Feels more like an unoptimized tech demo (wtih fps drops out of a blue) instead of a commercial product.

I'm very glad that I received this game as part of a Humble Bundle. Would have definitely requested a refund had I purchased it on Steam. This game feels more like a tech demo for the Cryengine than an actual game, and a poor demo at that. I have seen better ball rolling physics in non-ball rolling games like Trials Evolution. The tech demo feeling is compounded by the fact that you get the Cryengine logo and name on each loading screen, the dev not having taken the time to design one…

This is not so much a game as an exercise in frustration. While extremely beautiful, it feels half-baked and plays that way as well. You are a rock inhabited by a sun god and roll your way to the temple of the moon god following a meandering path through six different landscapes. The physics are 'creative' and the controls spongy and not precise enough for what is essentially a light 3-D platforming experience. The camera's perspective often forces you to deal with angles that do not translate…

This is a game of potential for casual fun that becomes a frustrating slog numerous times over throughout the course of the game. As a general rule, the ball feels cumbersome to control. I can understand this to a certain degree; it adds a sense of weight to the ball. However, it is overdone. You will find yourself frequently in a position where you are stationary and need to progress up an incline but are unable to do so at all. Rating 3/10 Nice graphics to look at that is it. Interesting concept, but there are a few things missing in this game. Basically you move with a rock on a platform with puzzles and things. You don’t get a sense of achieving anything but just to pass the time. In my opinion it’s low in price if you wait for sale if you want something just to play for fun, but not worth it at all really.

Rolling Sun I bought this game as a joke, having bought something similar last year. Rolling Sun However gets a thumbs up for delivering what promised. It is absolutely beautiful but not only that the game play is fun and the physics work for a rolling rock. I do wish the camera was not static and could rotate around, collecting all orbs is a bit of a drag. over all it deliveries a good experience for a low price.

Cheap games doesn't have to be cheap at the core. But here it is clearly emptiness that is inside the glossy chest. This is a techincal demo, with a vivid idea : force the player to play side view with jumps that requires the Z depht to land on the platform : brillant ! Mix that with an irritating music and obstacles that you see at the last moment, and you've got a winner !

Too buggy to enjoy, backgrounds disappear or textures don't appear - horrible level design issues - there's platforms on water, but because there's no reset, if you move them, they don't reset. So you can basically make levels impossible just by falling into the water. Not only that, but this is the only game where even on the lowest graphics, there are still framerate and lag issues. Avoid if possible.

This game plays like a pre-alpha build. It has missing textures, inconsistent deathboxes that take you back an unpredictible ammount, and reused assets that are treated differently each time they show up. For a momentum-based game, the level design seems oddly intent on locking you into a very slow playstyle. Various bugs, levels are not challenging since you are not timed or required to collect the collectable things. One bug is that you can increase your speed if you (using a controller) hold right on the analogue stick, also holding right on the d-pad, then you can go faster again by holding D. Using this, you can get out the map by spamming jump against invisible barriers and completely bypass the whole level. During level 3, the performance tanked then I was getting only 30fps, no idea why.…
