The games are great and im happy that people can enjoy this overlooked series on Steam now, but why sell it for 30€? The "new" features the museum, a music player, a save/load and rewind feature and a boss rush mode doesnt justify the price tag. Wait for atleast 50% discount if you really wanna have it on steam or play it on an literal emulator. Because this is not much more and you get it (depending on your emulator)…

unlabelledView post →6 Raw ROMs--3 JP, 3 US, are in the game's folder, load them in an emulator of your choice. However the Japanese RKA 1 ROM has completely broken controls in other emulators, though it works fine with the built-in emu. Not sure why; maybe emu dependent? Rest seem to be fine. Also, the manual scans/artwork/museum content are raw pngs you can access freely as well, which is genuinely cool, as it has stuff like Japanese ads/flyers. Because of that, recommended.

unlabelledView post →Initially, I had to refund this as there were many glaring emulation issues, esp with audio/video sync, it was broken on PC and causing microstutters. MVG of Limited Run Games himself addressed the issue and was able to fix all performance issues on PC/Steam Deck. At the time of writing, 60 fps is locked, no audio crackling, and looks glorious on an OLED display :D

The collection would be worth it for the first game alone, but you also get the other two 16 bit games, making this a well rounded experience. Even if the other two don't live up to the original there are still things to like about them. If you've never had the chance to play any of these games you owe it to yourself to try out these classic titles from a golden age when Konami used to actually make games.

The music is slamming, the sprites are detailed, the boss battles are epic, the game has a humorous style, and it is challenging enough for multiple play-throughs. I can easily see myself being wrapped up in them the same way he was if I had the chance to play them as a kid, because these are all great games that deserve their recognition.
