Great collection of NES Namco ports. The only negative I have so far is the "Museum" branding seems to be a misnomer on these new collections (no concept art, history videos, or interesting facts).

I like Galaga and Gaplus. I lost the arcade game version of Gaplus when my Wii died and Nintendo no longer supported the Wii, plus tied all my digital games to the system and not an account like Steam. It was a bit expensive to get the bunde, particularly when it was primarily for 2 games. Still it was worth it for me. Yes they're NES (Nintendo Entertainment system games) NOT ARCADE GAMES, but I'm a glass half full guy and like having something over nothing. I paid around $5 for Galaga on my…

This is the second of two collections of Namco NES games from the 1980s, most of which appeared in arcades first but this collection also has 2 NES only games they distributed-an action/RPG called Legacy of the Wizard and an odd puzzle-action game called Mendel Palace, most notable for being from Game Freak before they ruined society as we know it with a 90s Game Boy title you may have heard of called Pokemon. This collection also features an NES-style version of the arcade-only title Gaplus…

High time to bring out some old classics and you can do that with the new Namco Museum Archives Volume 1 & 2. In total you get 22 games, spread over two packages, Vol 2 mainly contains sequels to the games of Vol 1, but also others. Some of these games were never even released in the West. One thing is for sure, you can expect pixelated nostalgia. Check out the gameplay of the games in Vol 2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZYR2OHKfY8 The controls of every game in the collection work very…

Similar to Namco Museum Archives Volume 1, Volume 2 brings back several NES games from Namco's library, and while the quality is overall better than this collection, it's still not worth a purchase for the bungled rewind and lack of extras. The game quality this around is superb. Battle City, Dig Dug II, Galaga, Mappy-Land, Mendel Palace, Legacy of the Wizard, and Rolling Thunder are all fantastic games that provide classic retro action. The demake of Galpus is also much more interesting than…

When I was a kid I loved playing Battle City with my mom or dad. We would play that game together for hours and have a lot of fun together. So when I saw this collection of games on sale I added it to my wishlist and recently decided on buying it. I really wanted to relive the experience from my childhood and play with my girlfriend, but when I get to the title screen of Battle City, there doesn't seem to be a way to pick the ''2 players'' option. I can only press start and play alone. I have…

I wish there was a neutral voting option to be honest. In case it isn't clear, these two collections are exclusively NES ports of Namco games, that is, these are basically NES roms being emulated. The Namco Museum name made me think these were a new version of the old Namco Museum series, which sought to port the arcade games more faithfully. These collections are fine for the games that never got English releases and are fine for people who don't already have ways of playing these games in…

i sadly have to not recommend this collection. All the games ARE excellent, I like them all. The problem is the emulation quality is relatively poor. I don't just mean modern emulation conveniences since this collection does provide save states and rewind which are nice features. Compare to the SNK collection which has virtually flawless emulation, it's like night and day.

Has some great classics, and while some of them were obviously made to steal peoples money at certain stages they're not bad for their age. Only problem I have is the ports are terrible both graphically and with the gameplay. The controller interface is very clunky and honestly makes some of the games frustrating to play.

The emulation quality is very poor. Unresponsive laggy controls. Playing dig dug 2 is atrocious in this collection. Any which way direction you wish to go, you first most forward almost a full block before turning. Not a good way to play these games.

But when Namco released "Namco Museum" through different platforms I felt there were repeats of games that I was just not interested in as I "Played these" Well, the Namco Museum Archives fixes this issue and breathes new life to the Namco Museum genre and gives us fun Famicom and NES games that we grew up with in our childhood. If you're old like me you probably recognize at least 1 title. Galaga and galpus are space shooters. Legacy of the wizard is an open world aarpg. I probably spent most of my time on this title. Finally some classic collection with "rewind" function, unlike all those Konami "anniversary" compilations. Here you can revisit some NES games without being a tryhard... Also, the control mappings are better than I've seen in most of the other similar products. All the buttons already in the right place in the official controller configuration, on my 8bitdo gamepad that isn't mainstream these days.

Only played a couple hours so far but really enjoying this collection. Is it worth buying at full price? I'd say 'no' as these are NES/Famicom ports with the added bonus of an NES 'de-make' of Gaplus. That's not to completely devalue what is here, as unlike Vol 1 a lot of these never received arcade versions and this particular collection has a smattering of unusual games. The menu's are a little bare-bones and their are sadly no archival scans of boxes or historical context for the games…

Mappy-Land is one of the cutest and most charming games of all time, on top of being extremely fun. Simple, but challenging and extremely addictive. Bring back Mappy! Mappy games rule. Legacy of the Wizard seems to be a love-it-or-hate-it type of game, but if you're one of the people who DO like it, then you will love it to death (as you can probably tell by looking at just how many of the photos and posts on the Community Hub for this collection are from LotW). I can see why some of these titles aren't big hits. Some games have awkward controls or are kind of dull compared to the original arcade titles they're based off of. However, a couple of games that are styled like early The Legend of Zelda titles may actually be hidden gems. I'm recommending it because it's not a bad collection overall, and there are probably a couple of games in this pack that are good enough to spend some time playing, but it's definitely not a replacement from NAMCO's…

You would think NAMCO MUSEUM ARCHIVES are arcade games collections, but actually they all are easily available Famicom games. And it's not only me, i saw other people complain about it after the purchase too. Well, having a good arcade emulation would be very good. But it's unfair to criticize this too much for what it is not, instead of for what it is. This is not the worst emulator but one of the most insane in the membrane. Same issues as the first game. Still good but rewind desperately needs fixing. Also maybe clarify these are the NES versions and not the superior Arcade versions (Dig Dug 2 feels janky AF compared to Arcade) because some people are being misled. Best part of this collection imo? Very much the brand-new Gaplus NES conversion that's here. It's absolutely stellar.

This is proof that I'm getting too old for this. I bought this--I liked all these games, when I was younger. I played them for half an hour and I was so bored, I could hardly keep my eyes open. So, I got it refunded. I'm getting too old for this now. I cannot say whether the compilation is good or bad--but I didn't like it. to quote Lethal Weapon: "I'm too old for this $hit."

Similar to my Vol 1 review, it's more of the same here. However, this collection has more games that were exclusive to the NES/Famicom, so the selection is more unique to this aspect. Surprisingly, there's even a game from Game Freak in the mix. As a fan of Gaplus, it's cool to see a "demake" as well. Still wish the museum extras weren't removed from this US release. Once again, if you're into these kind of games, there'll definitely be something to play here, otherwise wait for a sale.

Namco is back, with another "museum" that doesn't museum, and a collection of NES/Famicom games, many of which very much could be offered in better (original arcade) versions but just isn't. Namco Museum Archives Volume 2 is a mostly fantastic addition to Volume 1. Setting the table for this review, I've only played Gaplus (Arcade), Galaga (NES) and Mappy-Land (NES) when originally released. The rest are all new to me. Of the 11 games included, 3 are duds: Pac-Land, Super Xevious, and Battle City. Battle City fails as a Tower Defense-type of game. Like Volume 1, NAMCO MUSEUM ARCHIVES Vol 2 are NES ports of Namco games. Though, this collection of games weren't as popular in the Arcades where applicable. Which I think actually works a bit in the favor of it. Galaga is probably the most famous of Volume 2. The NES version isn't bad, though; I feel like maybe it plays a little slower than the arcade making it easier. Battle City is probably my personal favorite. It's a single screen top down tank game. This is a solid collection of Famicom titles and a convenient way to play them legally without a subscription or original hardware. Its demake of Gaplus does, in fact, have the Hypership from the arcade original obtainable in the same way, although the timing to crash into the King to do so is trickier than in the arcade version in my experience. That said, it's overall just as fun and frantic as the arcade version, so it's a good way to experience the game if you haven't already or want to…

As I said with Volume 1 - This is a great collection of classics. These are 8-bit NES versions of the games and not the arcade originals, just so people know before diving in. While I find this volume to be weaker than the first, it is still full of enjoyable titles that are worth owning if you're a collector of games with historical significance. There's a lot of bang for your buck here (especially if grabbed during a sale).

NAMCO MUSEUM ARCHIVES Vol 2 is a retro compilation developed by M2 Co., LTD and published by BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment that celebrates the publisher’s 8-bit legacy by bringing a curated lineup of classic Famicom-era titles to modern platforms. Rather than acting as a simple nostalgia package, the collection functions as a preservation effort, presenting a range of games that reflect Namco’s early experimentation across genres during the 1980s and early 1990s. Are you talking about Namco Museum Archives Vol. 2? The whole point of it is that it's a collection of Namco's NES/Famicom games, both arcade ports and original games, released under "Namcot" So it does make sense that it's not the arcade version, even if it's disappointing if you lack that context.
