60 of 108 · most liked firstThis was actually a surprisingly good adventure game. Not great, but good enough to recommend for fans of Myst style adventure games. This review covers both parts in the series, because although the first game is nowhere near as good as the second, I feel that they are still probably best played one after the other for the story if nothing else. Firstly, a point of warning - the second game had all sorts of graphical glitches on my GeForce Go 7900 GS making it unplayable. I ended up streaming…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Help!! in this game Michael Jackson and his pet monkey have run out of Diprivan and Benzodiazopines and need your help getting more (ala "Breaking Bad") or play the other side and help the State of Connecticut add Diprivan to its list of controlled substances and keep MJ from OD'ing. Either way save Never Never land in this mad cap adventure that pits you against substance abuse, animal rights issues, the DEA and law suits.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Make third one dam'it!! The music, the breath taking vievs and sightseing, the ambiance, the frustration over puzzles and the punch of the game with all the emotional feelings and spot on vioce cast... ther is more to say but il end it with: Higly suggested for people who wants a fun calm time!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Annoying, illogical and repetitive. Everybody is hungry but they all say "I already had this"... It's not a game of find the most logical solution, because logical thinking isn't rewarded it becomes a tedious game of just try everything and hope to find another random solution that doesn't get you anywhere. The first title had these situations too but it wasn't as frequent that it became to tedious to finish. I actually wasn't the greatest fan of part one either but in a lot of cases a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What I loved about RtMI 2 is that it brings back something from the olden days that point-and-click adventure games seem to have somehow lost along the way. It has puzzles that aren't just about mashing buttons and randomly clicking everything you see on-screen, they actually make sense and you have to put some real thought into solving them. I like how it gives you multiple possibilities in terms of combining the items in your inventory not just the classic "nothing else will fit" approach.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed the first game of this series, but this one is just a bit too unforgiving. So many chemical cocktails you MUST get just right. So many slight movements (like the swamp) that you have to get JUST right. Oy! I really like many of the puzzles, but the intensity is just too much to have fun. And even when falling back on MULTIPLE walkthroughs, videos, hints, I found that you can find yourself in an impossible situation, where you have used the 2 and only 2 objects to get you past a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first game is WONDERFUL. Refreshing, great puzzles (although you might need a walkthrough for all the combinations), great cutscenes and graphics and a great ending, maybe a fitting ending to the game and not to leave room for a sequel. The second one, this one, is like the first - except someone decided to take the first and sh** all over it. First of all, the voice acting. This woman is ideal as Kate Walker from the Syberia series, but in this one, it's like a hotline for doctors; "now I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is kinda hard, actually. I didn't expect it to be that a challange. But in the end it pretty much good. Though it would be best if you bought "Return to Mysterious Island" before you bought "Return to Mysterious Island 2". But in the end you deside. I Would definitely rate this game. 7-10. Because i had some.. Some trouble understanding what i was going to do. xD
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WARNING: This is not a game where you walk around an island and find things. This is a point and click. Graphics are ok, but when Mina talks, she just moves hermouth at IMPOSSIBLE speeds. So animatons SUCK. You also can't go freely, you must stay on a linear path. 1/10 for ok graphics.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first game is fun but this is a truly awful experience. The first big problem is that there are huge frame rate issues; the game is ancient and my card isn't, but I'm lucky to get 10fps in RtMI2. The second big problem is the gameplay itself. Some of it is fine, much of it is terrible. This is labeled as a puzzle game, but most of the gameplay is in fact not puzzle-based, its mostly tedious minigames which more often than not require split second reaction clicking. The developers seem to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What could have been a good game is ruined by fun-sapping mini-games. The good Graphics are an improvement over the original Same with the music The bad Everything else, specifics: The mini-games. They are horrid and destroy what fun this game may have had Illogical item combos Easy to get stuck
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent Game! 9.5/10 Picks up right where the first game leaves off. If you haven't played it, you have to - this 2 game set is an amazing experience. The puzzles range from easy to very difficult. This game adds a few new mechanics to the series. I won't spoil them for you, but know that if you played the first game (and even some of the other games in this company's library, like Journey to the Moon) Then you'll enjoy the ending parts of this one. One small issue I've noticed that some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished! I really liked the first game in the series, but this one is much more difficult and closer to a MYST-type game. Too many obscure clues/puzzles and too many situations where you have no idea what to do next ^^; I took a break about 3/4 through, though the story picks up a little later. There are two endings...make sure to see both!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A decent game overall. Multiple solutions for each puzzle, some pixel hunting but not as much to cause any real discomfort, BUT there's ONE thing that KILLS that game completely. To enter the cave ALMOST IN THE END OF THE GAME you need to befriend 3 of 5 monkeys. Shame on me because I only befriended 2 which resulted in me being STUCK and game becoming completely incompletable nullifying all 4 hours I wasted on it and keeping me from seeing the ending. And I will repeat myself, it happens NEAR…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They improved the graphics and the interaction a lot, and added various minigames. I also really liked revisiting the previous game's scenes. Sadly after 3 hours I ran into a game-breaking bug, and I can't proceed further. (See the details here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/277270/discussions/0/618457398964740101/ ) Tried to contact Support for a month now without any reply, so I'm giving up on it :/
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a return to the same island as the first game, with updated graphics. There is continuity involved between both the story and the objects from the first game. The second game's storyline does take a turn for the weird, but it was still fun. At first, it feels like you are stuck in the same small area of exploration on the island that was available in game 1, but it opens up as the story progresses. A few of the puzzles will feel familiar from game one, others are trial and error and few…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are graphical artifacts with this one on windows 10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A truly well thought out game produced by its Developers. I like to play good role playing games and the character role is smart. The continuous hunt to find objectives are endless - not just a few, but you have 6 tabs to organize your inventory. An added plus, you don't use your objects just one time, in other words multiple - complex uses. You combine objects to make a vast number of things that are endless. The storyline is ingenuous and captivating and the graphics are superior than most…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't work on windos 10! Strange puzzles, bad continued story, apple advertising?!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is not without its merits. It looks nice, especially for a 3D indie game. It has some interesting aspects, like the morale system. And it is fairly unique - in what other game do you catch ants as a monkey? However, the implementation leaves much to be desired. The inventory menu is clumsy. Interacting with things is fussy. There is often no indication that you can pick something up, so you basically have to click on everthing. Where the game lost me is the ants thing. You have to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was probably one of the best adventure games I've ever played. I loved the story and the majority of things about that game. I would totally recommend it for sensitive people who love exploring, puzzles and the wild. The only thing that seemed quite unrealistic was the modern technologies appearance from 1860, but that's debatable and it doesn't take a great part in the game. I would rate it 9/10.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game aswell as Return to Mysterious Island 1 is a point and click game, i first played no.1 however only lasted about half a minute before it crashes on me everytime, therefore can not write a review on this game, i bought both games in the bundle pack so thought id give this a try and so far, it has not crashed at all, i wouldnt recommend getting the bundle pack or no.1 on its own however no.2 is a good puzzle game that makes you think. I probly wont be playing this much however purely…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recommend it for the gameplay because I enjoyed the puzzle mechanics, but I do not recommend it for the story. Also I fixed the frame rate issues by rebooting my computer? I'm not sure why that fixed it. Spoilers ahead for why I did not enjoy the story. There was no "return" to the Island, you never even left! And for some reason, there's aliens?? I enjoyed the story so long as it seemed rooted in reality (beyond the fact that your monkey friend is really good at helping you solve…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good sequel worth playing. Nice variety and complexity of puzzles.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a fan of the first Return to Mysterious Island and was hoping for another great classic adventure game. Unfortunately, despite some good moments, the sequel is a disappointment for me. It still looks good and plays in the same way, but the puzzles are often annoying, and playing as Jep, the little monkey, while cute and novel at first, quickly becomes tiresome. There are some good adventure moments in there, but they are obscured with too many frustrating and illogical puzzles to truly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first game was nice, but this one left me somewhat disappointed. There were some nice puzzles, but a large portion of the game was doing the same thing over and over or trying to figure out where some random stuff happened, so that you can advance, which was very annoying. In my opinion the addition of minigames is super lame and I feel the only reason those were added is so that they could be played on the iPhone... In general this is a mediocre game and you won't miss much if you don't…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →P.U. I couldn't even enable Jep to eat the nuts. No matter what I did and even using the walkthroughs and the cheats, I couldn't accomplish his eating. This game s_cks.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty bad sequel, a lot of illogical item combinations.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Liked the 1st one really good. But not this one
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's longuer than the first one, but i still preffer the first. In this one, the story is a bit strange, with E.T., so it's not really the Jules Verne universe. And mini games are a bit boring. But it's a correct game if you like exploration and puzzles.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Captivating game, provided you're a fan of Jules Verne. The Mysterious Island is one of my favorite books from JV, and I loved both games. They take place after the book story. Count around 10 hours for each game if you're not looking at the solution, more if you explore everything. The craft and exploration are also real fun, because it's all linked to the book story & lore. +++
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A satisfying finish. Yes, this is a sequel and you really need to start with the first one, as this continues where it left off. It is also a bit harder than the first one, and you may need to resort to a guide occasionally. The story is good, better than the first one, and it is longer as well. Overall, the two games create one satisfying point and click experience that is well worth your time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →7. King's Bounty: The Legend; think I got this in a giveaway. I don't remember. 8. Return To Mysterious Island 2; bought this one because I had (and enjoyed) the first one. Why I haven't played this one is a mystery.

unlabelledView post →Continue your journey on the Lincoln Island in the second instalment of the ''Return to Mysterious Island ''. After unfortunate failure to leave an island you and your monkey friend Jep have to find the alternatives to escape... or maybe this Island in not a bad place to stay for a little bit longer? The choice is yours...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: You get to play as the monkey, which adds a few more interesting puzzles Cons: The story is less compelling and the puzzles are even more obtuse than the first game. Also, it's possible to still make several hours of progress AFTER unknowingly putting the game in an unwinnable state. It's actually pretty easy to softlock - I found quite a few people complaining about it when I went looking for solutions. UPDATE: I hex-edited my save so that I could get past the softlock. The endings…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a game with a lot of nostalgic value for me, and I was pleasantly surprised to find it as good as I remember! It's definitely worth getting this one and the first; most of the puzzles are easy enough to be fun but challenging enough to feel rewarding. Definitely recommend!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I paid a dollar for this game so I don't feel robbed. This game, while compared to Myst, is no Myst. The graphics lack the immersive experience of Myst and are cartoony. Not a problem if the game story was engaging, but it's really not. Maybe better for young kids and might even assist in reading practice. I like usually Desponia and Myst style games. Mostly because they are clever or funny. I played it long enough that I did not feel this game was either of those things. If you like…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Update 2020 03 15 I will leave the original review below. I have completed the game at this point. I do not wish to make a full review currently. I strongly do not recommend this game. The ending, which I was hoping would make up some for the terrible game play and mini games, was as horrible as the rest of the game. A truly pathetic ending, in my opinion. I will try and write more of a review at a later time. Original review I may try and finish playing this game but there is a lot of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved the game. Playtime wayyyyyyyy over what I actually played (benefits of turning monitor off, not the computer) but played to full completion. An excellent puzzle game with very similar vibes to myst, definitely recommend checking out the first game though. Some puzzles can prove a little challenging, but the overall inventory crafting system and puzzles in general are super satisfying to figure out. The story of the game is definitely a highlight.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What can I say, I don't like it. It far from the normal HO game. I had more fun uninstalling then I had playing. The up side, at least it worked, the first MI never got past the Microids screen before it crashed. Real bummer of a game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you don't count a couple annoyingly time-wasting puzzles, it's a pretty decent adventure with a nice story. Nothing more nothing less from what we expected fron Cry... I meant Kheops 😜
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of our old-school classic puzzle and adventure games. Very well done for the era. You should play the first game in the series first, though this will stand on it's own. Based on Jules Verne, "The Mysterious Island" this game has great imagination and should be fun for any casual adventurer. No super-math puzzles!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Second part of Return to Mystery Island When finally rescue arrives, your luck turns again, and you end up again on the Island. This time you need to find a way to stop the total destruction of the Island, with the help of Jep (your Monkey). In this part you can switch from Minna and Jep depending on the task at hand. Again, like the first part I had to use a walkthrough more then once to find out what to do next, or to find items needed to progress. I love puzzle games, but this survival game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A halfway decent point and click puzzler. Get when it's under $5 or when 1 & 2 are under $8.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first game was great. I like to pretend the sequel doesn't exist.

unlabelledView post →After playing this game all the way through, I kept thinking things were going to get interesting or have that mysterious quality that the first game did, but then the story just went in a weird direction that I just did not like. The puzzles were few and far in between, playing as Jep for some of the story was weirdly irritating, and having a full-fledged scene play (which was un-skippable btw) every time Jep wanted to climb back on Mina's shoulder was taxing. I fully recommend playing this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this as a kid and loved it, still just as it was when I was a kid, but nice to play again
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For Windows 10 a computer restart was needed to get the game to stop lagging. It's not the reason for the thumbs down. (More like a neutral) I loved the first one and ECHO when little. They still hold up and the puzzles have some logic past click everything together. This game has three issues that make it become a slog to finish. 1. The puzzle design is not so much something to think through. Pretty often it is simply pick up item, walk to other side of map, interact once, walk back and put…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First game, Return to Mysterious Island, was really good. But not the sequel. More linear, weaker story and just outdated (while first game is okay).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I voted No for this game, and I do like it better than the first, but I don't plan on finishing it, at least not without a guide. I think this is a game with a lot of cool ideas and potential, but it's age, slowness of changing from Jeb to Mina, and the puzzles themselves fall a little flat. I think having the monkey, Jeb, as a separate companion is a cool idea. It's the same island as the previous game, but with some areas changed and expanded upon. Is there any reason to buy this game? Yes,…
