60 of 170 · most liked firstReally Big Sky is a game I received from a giveaway way back in the old days of 2014. I don't exactly remember where I got it from - IndieGala, HumbleBundle, somewhere else - point is, I got it for free from a giveaway. I went into the game at the time with really low expectations. No, really - there was a reason this game was being given out for free, surely? With those low expectations, I was legitimately blown away. RBS is genuinely amazing. The game itself is fairly simple - you are a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really big mess of a shmup. Don't bother unless you like to shoot and drill through random colored sludge.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has a few interesting ideas for the bullet-hell/twin-stick shooter genre-hybrid, but it lacks focus and struggles to follow it's own rules resulting in a highly unsatisfying experience. Here was my experience. First thing that struck me was the obnoxiously flashy menu screen. I mean, the bloom rendered the menus unreadable! But perhaps it is my monitor that isn't perfectly calibrated that is causing the issue. I can try to look past that. So let me change the resolution so I can…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely put this up when it goes on sale. Simple fun shoot em up.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better than No Mans Sky.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the Big Sky. The name comes from the actual size of the sky. As for this game, the apt title is, "Really Gross Game"
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okay, first off, this is more of a standard horizontal shooter than a "twinstick shooter". Sure, you do fire with the right stick, but "twinstick" implies movement on a 2D plane while shooting at 360° around you is a large component of gameplay. Here, there's forced horizontal scrolling, and barring a few sneak attacks from the top or bottom, enemies appear from the right, so it's just a variation on Gradius rather than Geometry Wars. (I'm sure someone, someone who's an insufferable pedant on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game with a good price tag. Will remind you of the glory era of side and top scrolling scifi flash games, and that's a good thing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really big, bigger than that other Sky game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a ton of tech problems. The controls do not appear to work, I couldn't make it past the tutorial because they were unresponsive. A real killer for a game of this type. The game also doesn't close, it just crashes. Fiddling with the options was a real disaster. Uninstalling and not looking back.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Two Really Big problems for this game: - The game itself is not hard, you just get killed by things you can't see, or if you can see them, you've literally never encountered it before and there is no indication that it will kill you. It's more frustrating than skill intensive. - The design seems to contradict itself. On one hand, the game wants you to play it over and over, to have the satisfaction of upgrading your ship. On the other hand, the game builds up each session painfully slowly,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Visually cluttered post processed particle effect overload where pickups, your shots, enemy shots, and enemies all look the same. Avoid obstacles while flying through a cloud. Why is the screen shaking?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the reasons i come back to this game is: 1)The soundtrack 2) Chaos. one of the best "bullet hell" genres out there with PERFECT soundtrack. you will never know wtf is going on and you will still enjoy it because it's a really big sky, and who doesn't love star(bit)s? It's also a great time killer. you start playing once or twice then you can't stop and when you look at the clock, 3 hours has passed already. Overall, this is a low-priced masterpiece. so don't just ignore it when you can get it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the perfect game for those who do drugs or those who want to do drugs. Really fun, crazy at times.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →lame af i got it for free becuase some website gave out free codes without dowload so the only reson i have 1 hour of gamplay is becuase i just leav it on and do somwthing else just to get free cards
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an amazing game. Played it a while back, maybe +10 years ago. In an attempt to re-visit this game with my daughter, I'm unable to play it, as it seems to launch, but only get a black screen. Would recommend in 2025 if this game would launch and was playable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to like it, but now when I run it, if I choose full screen, it just gives a black screen. Somehow I moved the controller and couldn't undo it. Even reinstalling the game left it in fullscreen (blank screen) mode. That makes it unplayable. Frustrating.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a pretty mediocre twin stick shooter with very little staying power. Definitely not a game you need to play, even if you like the genre and aesthetic present in Really Big Sky.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the colors, but do an update already.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really Big Sky is a fantastic twin-stick shooter. As most games from the arcade era, it doesn't have much of a plot. You simply have your spaceship, and must fly through space killing aliens who want to take your planets. And there's tons of them. It doesn't really have a story mode, you don't get to "win" the game; it's all about surpassing your best score. And I must say this game is great at it. You'll find yourself playing again and again, improving not only your skills, but also your ship…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun and challenging arcade shooter with vibrant visuals, addictive gameplay, and increasing difficulty that keeps players engaged for hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really cool, it has really cool music aswell, it doesnt run very well when there is a lot of stuff in the screen but overall i love it!, it hasn't received a patch for a very, VERY long time so do not expect anything added but man this game is good to burn time. I can just wish there is a patch or something to fix some performance issues but this game is so old already that its probably going to stay like this. I love it Did i say that I love this game already?

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really Big Sky (2012) A super-fast, twin analogue shooter for the modern age - You fly your spaceship and shoot enemy ships and other stuff coming your way. There are 12 different modes to play and in classic mode you can upgrade your ship. The game has full controller support which is always nice for this type of game. There is local co-op for up to 2 people. Flying around in space looks beautiful and the game is a lot of fun to play. Just keep your eyes open and try not to crash into…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a twin stick shooter with some nice particle effects but it's just not much fun. I drilled through a few planets, beat a couple bosses and that's it for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6hs of "wtf?" and "don't get it"...too many particles and effects.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not sure how you got here, but hear what I say, this game is a gem buried deep down between thousands of ♥♥♥♥♥♥ indies. At first I got this game on a giveaway and didn't even bothered playing it, until my internet was down, so I decided to give it a try and, oh man, so glad I did that. My play time is definetly more than 10 hours (now that I'm writing this review) because the internet thing and not being able to record the hours, but let's move on to the game. First thing that got my attention…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is bugged it doesn't even allow me to set FullHD in fullscreen, additionally changing screen resolutions / modes is a gigantic pain in the a.r.s.e.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Could be worse. But then again you could just take LSD instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The hype is not real. After being killed by something you can't see over and over and having to listen to the god awful voice over for about 5 minutes i've had enough. Got this game on sale and wasted my money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. There is not much to say about it. It may not be a multiplayer game, but it's a reliable game whenever your wifi doesn't work or when you're just trying to relax by yourself. Had tons of fun with the game, and if I hadn't gotten it for free from a former friend of mine, I probably still would have bought it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice retro arcade game with beautiful visuals. Atmospheric. Things that let this game down: The game crashes when I try to make it fullscreen + One other game crash within 10 minutes of playing. The beautiful visuals can make it hard to see what is going on. No proper tutorial or explanations. In the beginning you are running blind and doing things via trial and error Takes too long to retry/restart a stage. Overall a thumbs down.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really Big Sky, developed by Boss Baddie and published by Ripstone, is an intense and visually explosive twin-stick shooter that embraces the raw energy of classic arcade design while weaving in a layer of modern procedural chaos. It drops players into a frenetic space battlefield where reflexes, adaptability, and a touch of madness become essential to survival. Rather than relying on a fixed level structure or predictable enemy waves, the game constantly evolves around the player’s…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is hard to enjoy. Too many lights and events where not only is really hard to see, you don't even know what is happening. Game has zero learning curve where you start slow and easy and it gets gradually more challenging. After a short tutorial, you are thrown to the lions where it is hard as hell to learn the game when you don't know what's going on or how to face things and you are lucky if you survive more than 1 minute straight. Gave it a try because it had potential but gets…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really Big Sky offers a visually striking and fast-paced shoot 'em up experience, blending vibrant visuals with intense arcade action. With its procedurally generated levels and dynamic gameplay, it provides endless replayability and excitement. The game's variety of power-ups and upgrades allow for customization and strategic depth, enhancing the player's experience. Despite its challenging difficulty and lack of narrative depth, its addictive gameplay and stunning visuals keep players…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do not recommend
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really Big Sky is certainly not the world's best (arcade) SHMUP but it can be fun! The game drastically overuses particle and light effects. However, this is part of the fun and makes you go "Whoa, what's going on here" time and again. The number of enemies and bosses is limited, it still takes some time to master them. I think I had seen all after 5 hours but kept playing to grind more achievements and to have some fun. Technically, you cannot beat this game, you can only get a better high…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is rather fun and good-looking.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fails the most basic test of good game design by making the player fail constantly through no fault of their own. It is remarkably easy to accidentally skip past the tutorial since they failed to put an input block on the first instant the popup comes up, so if you're trying out different buttons, GOOD LUCK SCRUB, now you have no idea how to survive the planet constantly appearing on the level and demolishing you. Look it up, I guess. Once you're two minutes or so into the game, there's a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It can be fun, but there is simply too many effects on screen at a given time, making it really difficult to make out what is going on.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i've seen bigger
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What garbage. Fullscreen mode doesn't work. Way too much "WTF just happened?" Got this for free and I think I paid too much.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is no structure to the game and I enjoy that. Music and visuals are cool too. Nice casual shooter.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It fails to stand out in its genre. 6/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Never quite got the hang of it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very visually appealing and catchy twin stick shooter, has a lighthearted tone but it still presents itself as a challenge. Easily worth 5 euros.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cheap bullet hell with fps drops
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tags: Shootemup & BulletHell Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Menus unresponsive and slow, games are short and I die quick so I spent way more time waiting between games than actually playing which makes it very poor entertainment Arcade-Style SHMUP with *great* audiovisuals, and some interesting mini-features, such as the necessity to switch to planet drilling on the fly to survive or the stronger beam weapon if you resume shooting after taking a break from…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Significant bugs in this shooter prevent it from running on 4K monitors if DPI settings (which are almost always set) are used. The display is overscanned and large amounts of the interface aren't visible. A simple thing to test but the developers have either not noticed this, or just not bothered to fix it. If you have a modern PC, this game probably won't run.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →just could not get in to playing this game
