35 of 35 · most liked firstAt first, I would like to applaud the setting, which is unique and interesting. The rise of ironclads is a turning point of naval history and a great background for a naval simulation. And every new naval sim is a good thing. Frankly I'm surprised that the game did not notice the portals and blogs as Wargamer or SimHQ. I found this game by accident. I bought a tablet PC and began looking for games suitable for the technical requirements, and my interests. In turned-based mode this game is a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well with some new games you start it all seems quite instinitive and everything seems to fall into place even with quite complicated games..Unfortuneatly for me at least Ironclads2 American civil war isn't one that does.No tutorial doesn't help either and even after reading the manual its all rather difficult and frankly a bit of an odd setup. But it looks good and I think the concept of naval operations during this period is worth having a bit of a fiddle. The ships look good, but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What can I say about the game. From first look not easy to understand what to do. You don't have any instructions about what ship or infantry to buy, or do you need this structure now or later and other similar things. You don't even have much of interface on strategic map, as on a tactical map too, actually. So what can you do? First you get the idea that the game looks like tabletop game and you need to interact with units on map like with figures on the tabletop. All statistics you get from…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ironclads 2 has been available on the developers website since August. Clear rules and only a few minutes to understand the game mechanism. But I recommend reading the manual before starting the game. The mechanics well suit the style of naval weapons employed during the American Civil War. Good game with a combination of cat and mouse blockade simulation.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →90% people found positive reviews helpful. 22% people found negative reviews helpful. I agree with the opinion of the absolute majority. This is an unusual game. This is a good wargame. The game has a lot of potential. I prefer board games. This game is similar to them. I played a little bit, but enjoyed.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is an enigma. It has some nice aspects to it, mostly that it allows you to experience a watershed moment in naval warfare. Yet it is very limited and certainly not worth the 19.99 dollars that I read was the original price. Lucky for me I paid a trifle for it. Basically the game is a battle simulator for up to eight warships on both sides and those are limited to two columns. This feature is at the heart of the game and the most developed. However for any experienced naval gamer the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a game though this is a very good one, one that anyone interested in naval warfare should look at. If you are even remotely interested in naval warfare from the great age of the gun then this is a very good game to check out. The game isn’t perfect, the interface can be frustrating to newbies but the game is fun, and engrossing. The game is not a fast paced game. Yes, you can speed up the time in the game, in fact, you will have to if you want to play the game at all, but even so this is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is pretty disappointing..... would not recommend in the slightest. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=549934604
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →okay first I was mugged in 2004 suffering a head tramua that gives problems in SP and grammar so excuse this still smart just messed up writing . I only played about 6 hours but enough to know /learn few things. the game is simple once you learn what to do. I went to Youtube viewed a video someone posted as their is no Tutorial. I see is made by small Russian group. not a big fancy company so do not expect bunch bells and whistles. You need to pay attention to the ship types and dates .…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a major problem which none of the other reviews are addressing and I feel it is of the upmost importance that you are aware of this before you purchase any Ironclad title: This is NOT a conventional video game, it's closer to a digital table top game. I would argue it is a digital Board game. Adjust your expectations accordingly. From the bare bones combat controles to the lack of user interface, the games reliance on RN-Jesus and the lack of general audio visual feedback Ironclad…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If there was ever a game that deserved the “buy it if you like the genre” rating, this is it. Seriously, you should buy Ironclads if you like the genre, and people who are only slightly interested in the game should probably look elsewhere. Ironclads is a very realistic approach to naval combat in the middle 19th century, a time period that has gotten almost no coverage. Ironclads definitely does not serve as an introduction to naval combat strategy simulations. Instead, it’s one of the best…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love Civil War games, but not this one. There is no tutorial and the game play is not intuitive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The only problem of this game is lack of training. In the first hour of a game nothing is clear. It is interesting to play on the strategic map. To operate battles of the warships long and boringly. However I do not regret that I bought this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh man. This is a tough one. Shogun 2's Boshin War DLC was alright. There was a naval strategy game I played that was themed on the Boshin War called Ironclads 2, which *tried,* but never quite got there, because of a clunky UI. I haven't played it yet but Like a Dragon: Ishin probably does well.
unlabelledView post →Thanks to the developers for a fun, fun game. There is lots of depth to be found under the initial apparent simplicity of this game - don't run off because some have spent little time on it, then trashed it. Buy it! Ironclads 2 is very easily moddable. All files are in plain text .xml. I've done a lot of game modding and 3rd party software for games over the years. This one is built on the same chassis as Pacific Storm + Pacific Storm Allies. You can change ANYTHING, including the game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are so much information about this period of American history, but it's still not enough games about naval civil war. The game has a simple graphics and single click controlling without any additional menu or tune. However, it can not guaranty an easy winning. Because the computer opponent don't let you make a mistake twice. It seems like an old school game and I like it. The modern approach when you sure the AI just trying to lose not so clear is useless. Only understanding a blockade…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+The game is a major improvement over the average IRONCLAD game and dlc. +The game turned into an actural strategy game rather than just tactical, you have to plan stuff several turns ahead now. +The game puts a lot of focus on manouvers in line formations, which is a great improvement over the original. +/-The game does a partly good job with the new and improved Damage Control System. But it is lacking in some aspects. See details below. +/-The game is oddly catchy... I want to play more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are into this era, definitely get this! It is a bit complex at first as there is no in-game tutorial, however the game does have a nice manual and there are plenty of helpful players on the forum that would be more happy to help you out. It is a bit basic in its functions, however it is a big step up over their other games. Ships, while simple in graphics are still beautifully modeled and in all delivers a great Civil War naval experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I Want My Money Back i thought i was buying a simulator set in an alternative history where the battles may have been won by the south or regular history by the north, the battles are nothing like the trailer showed them to be, i got all the ironclad 2 games on sale because they were dirt cheap.......... now i know why. there is no tutorial. no real training. prices for ship are outrageous. you start with little to no money. i uninstalled the game today because i just cant play DO NOT BUY…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love alternative history. In this scenario serious work with historical documents is visible. It was pleasant to me that developers invented nothing. Game very needs the mode of training or the training video. I do not like to read manuals. Surprisingly in a game very simple interface in the strategic mode. To occupy the enemy city it is necessary to drag the infantry there. Movements happen simply. We choose any unit and we click where to move it. If on the way of unit there are no…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to buy game right after publication. I wanted and didn't buy. I read in reviews that the strategic part in game turned out very successful. I also read that guys from Totem team seriously improved this part of game later. But I didn't buy again. I was guarded by comments on another part of game, more important for me. I mean battles of the warships in real time. What I read also what I saw on screenshots was too simple and boring. And then there was a new updating in which promised new…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good game, good game speed, entertaining, interface is better than ironclads 1 but still need some improvements. not a bad game at all
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game is for thoes whu love oldschol stategy batlle ship type of games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Первое впечатление самое хорошее.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →unhistorical. difficult to understand strategic level quirky interface. unrealistic combat.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is no online tutorial for this game. The game play is virtually non-existant. The music is irritating (to be polite). Wish I could get my money back, Steam should be ashamed for allowing such tripe on their servers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →dont waste ur time and money boring and difficult to play and understand how to use

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bit old school. Deals with the American Civil War in the Gulf. Tricky to learn. Probably should get in the bundle.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Where do I get a manual for the games associated with this download? I didn't see a manual download button on the sales page, and every time I tried to search for and download the manual from the web browser, I was told that there was a malware risk associated with downloading it. Thanks.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My mother told me that if I can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. 1/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →interesting game but lacks rebinding and tutorial, very complicated to understand without those, also faster game speed, on the good side theres a manual , also i hope the devs instead of making thousand of games out of the same title they make these other titles DLCs for the main game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ironclads 2: American Civil War is a historical naval warfare strategy game developed by Totem Games and published by Strategy First. Built around maritime conflict during one of America’s most significant historical periods, the game combines large-scale military planning with tactical ship-to-ship combat to create an experience centered on naval command and operational strategy. Rather than simplifying warfare into fast-paced arcade battles, it embraces a more deliberate simulation-driven…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have purchased all of totem games. they are truly unique in subject matter that no one else has dared to tackle. I enjoyed dynamics and gameplay mode as they have set it up.! The graphics are the best available for this era. If you enjoy modding your ship, that is, to a limited degree, possible too. You can add to the models, or deletetoo, but the texturing must be to the same model texture. Also, textures can be modded very easily. If you enjoy nautical and accurate games, This is a good…
