Multiplayer is pure fun and very challenging. The HUD isn't the best, but also not the worst. Just buy the cheap bundle and try it out! If you are playing on windows 7, THERE WILL BE game crashing bugs. BUT there is a solution! Download Hgm_Soundfix here: http://www.moddb.com/downloads/haegemonia-legions-of-iron-sound-system-fix -> Go to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't buy this in it's current state. Sound errors and no widescreen support. I thought this deserves a new thread. The game's sound issues haven't been fixed and I get this problem continously on Win 7 x64 (about 4 or 5 missions in, when you first get access to wormholes). Play for a few minutes and bam, crash to the desktop. There's no widescreen support, so enjoy playing at 1024x768 or 1280x960. I'd also like to add that I bought this game when it came out on disc back in 2002 or whenever…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. I have loved it ever since it came out in 2002. Yes it's an older game. Yes it has bugs. But these can be worked around with a simple amount of research (like the sound error that some people get). And no it does not have widescreen support. You'll have to enjoy the game with either the black borders or a stretched image, depending on your computer's settings. Is it inconvenient? Yes. Is it game breaking? not in the slightest. For a 2002 game, the game play is great, and the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a terrible game but there are just many better alternatives for space strategy; I'd suggest something like Homeworld or Star Wolves instead. +Graphics are decent for the time +Voiced dialogue +Excellent range of zoom from up close and personal to star map level -Poor UI, often lacking in helpful information -Controls are poorly explained and can be awkward -Game is likely to crash due to 'sound system error' without manual fix/download:…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Firstly, this is one of my favorite games of all time. It was just as fun as when i originally bought it on disk, and that was almost ten years ago. This is definitely one of the more refined games out there, and for not even being an RTS player, I found this very enjoyable. Also, the graphics for this game were, at the time of its release, were ahead of curve. Space is absolutely beautiful and the planets are very detailed. I highly recommend this game to just about anyone, but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game does not run correctly on Windows 7. Don't waste your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This may have been a good game when released but time has not been kind. The limited resolutions and lack of aspect ratio settings conspire to stretch the planets and everything looks fuzzy. Seondary objectives are vague and the strategic view is not much help. Intecepting a suspicious ship requires you to look at every ship in the system until a tooltip indicates which one you can attack. They all look alike. Command, who has scanned and tried to communicate with the suspect, will not provide…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One you apply the sound fix to this game it's a great space game used to play it years ago and having played through the single player campaign again on the steam version it was well worth playing again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really tried, it seemed like it had a lot going for it. The controls and the interface are just so damn obtuse though that I can not enjoy it. If the menus provided better information and if the controls were actually customizable beyond only the barest options I'd give it another shot.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →absolute rubbish dont even bother
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Haegemonia: Legions of Iron is an old 3D space RTS similar to Homeworld. You control a small fleet of ships and you fight off your enemies and progress through the game storyline. This is a game I regret not playing when it was first released. The game has aged badly and the developers have done nothing to fix the problems. No widescreen support, audio bugs and stability issues under modern Windows versions render the game just too much hassle to play. This should be removed from…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used my write in reward for a "Deserves a Remake" reward. This game is one of the most under rated space strategy games ever. To this day it has the best and most realistic explosion in any game ever made. I would love to see a remastered version of it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is underated.... But seriously this is an amazing Sci fi RTS similar to Homeworld with its 3D movements and really good graphics for its age, its a shame the multiplayer fonctionality isn't there anymore i'd love to see a sequel.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An interesting space exploration RTS style game, but with the WORST controls I've ever seen, you can't even change them. 2/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a Master Piece of game thats every body must play!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Where is the original hungarian language ???? Come on... This is a HUNGARIAN gamae!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seems ok for a oldie space strategy game. Visually looks still kind of cool, but the camera angles are are pain in the butt.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dated now and the lack of widescreen is a huge negative.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before I write my review here's a link to the "Sound error" fix : mediafire com/file/16787mmlm1l4u92/Hgm.exe (Fill in the blanks) Go offline on Steam then replace the original Hgm.exe in the game folder, then right-click it > troubleshoot compatibility > Windows XP (Service Pack 3). Don't go online until you've tested it. Edit : This worked for me,but for one of my friends it didn't. It caused "Missing CD" error. I don't know any other way to fix it. I have 13mins on the game here, but I've…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game simply does not launch for me anymore, after playing for about 15 minutes i wasn't too thrill about what the game has to offer either but mainly leaving a bad review since you might not even be able to play this game. the game is a fairly normal RTS game set in space but the camera angles are quite wonky and the sensitive camera adjustment with your right mouse button does not help either, and it is quite easy to lose track of ships or objective as it can be quite unclear at times…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this many years ago and I remember it being a good game (although maybe only nostalgia goggles now), but it doesn't work at all well on modern OS. Tried GOG version and it has the same issues. Crash, crash, crash.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow, absurd how good this runs on Steam Deck. Well impressed.. Smooth and all commands work well out of the box..
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ah Haegemonia... I have a very well used disc for this in my desk and just had to buy it when I saw it on steam. Short version: It's easily worth double the current £4 price. There is a good story, music and generally a very enjoyable game here with at least 10+ hours of gameplay. You play a commander either for Earth or Mars, who has to bring a system wide civil war to a close, then the majority of the game is about advancing humanity into deep space. The exploration and research feels rich…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Poorly done tutorial, poorly mapped controls. 'nuff said.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Haegemonia: Legions of Iron, developed by Digital Reality and published by Microids, is an ambitious hybrid of real-time strategy and space empire management that reflects both the creativity and the rough edges of early 2000s PC strategy design. It sets out to combine the immediacy of RTS combat with the long-term planning of 4X-style systems, placing players in control of humanity’s expansion beyond Earth and into a wider interstellar conflict. What results is a game that feels expansive and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the most atmospheric and compelling space RTS' ever made, by the team who made the superlative Imperium Galactica series. I'm reading comments that it has technical hitches on Windows...well it plays like a dream on Linux. Stable, solid, gorgeous and it has one of the best soundtracks ever written!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really unique RTS experience marred by some technical glitches. Its a hard recommendation due to some of the flaws, but there is a gem of a game here to explore if you are interested in RTS space sims.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great little space-based RTS. Absolutely no issues running it on Proton. The graphics are really amazing for an older game, amazing even for a newer game. UI does take a while to get used to, but not that bad. Bought this game and Haegemonia: The Solon Heritage for less than $1 a couple days ago.. can't believe they were so inexpensive. Maybe due to issues running on other OS's? I'm really enjoying it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The earth is 4.6 billion years old and we managed to exist at the same time as this masterpiece.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love playing this game but way too many crashes. Never know if its going to a hour or 5 minutes. Extremely disappointed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Review - Haegemonia: Legions of Iron (WARNING!) Sry for my bad englando. :> I know this game since many many years and i have a lot of game experience. I like this game and i think it has a huge potential, so i don´t want to give a bad rating. But there are two things which pis_*s*_es me off!!!!! 1. This game crashes far too often with a stupid sound error. Sometimes you can play nearly one hour without crashes. Othertimes you can´t play for 5 minutes without a crash --> Why is this not…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed playing this game, if you can fix the issues it have (lot of instructions here on steam)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Highly underrated game. I'd love to see Haegemonia 2! If anyone would like to play it sometimes, just message me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tags: 4X - Empire Management Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Dated 3D RTS in the same vein as Homeworld. Suffers from crashes and the resolution is fuzzy. Progression is sometimes unclear. 3D ships on top of 2D backgrounds.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sound Problem ....
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very good space strategy game in its time, although its neck was broken with errors, crashes and bugs. But this game's mechanisms are unique and above time. The game has given me so much fun and the graphics engine is still very good looking.(played on 1920x1080 - I changed it manually in the folder settings, and my play time didnt count).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the main gimmick of a space 4x game I loved growing up, "Haegemonia: Legions of Iron", where to justify humans going from Mars colony to interstellar wars in a year or so, they simply said that there are a lot of naturally occuring fixed wormholes between star systems.
unlabelledView post →I think Haegemonia Legions of Iron was a game made by some minor Hungarian studio, which did Homeworld better than Homeworld, while also doing the classic Earth vs Mars sci-fi civil war. It really did look good for its time and represented space well.
unlabelledView post →So bad It is so bad, and that's not a "because it is old" comment, it just is, movement impossible, visibility non existent. just all round not enjoyable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played it on Linux after picking it up in a $1 bundle. In short, this is a classic "Eurojunk" game from Hungary. The developer of this game now works in a CGI company or AAA studio (the lead developer worked on Crysis) and you can tell by the quality of the effects, the cinematography and the soundtrack. The main problem is that everything else is not so good: there are a lot of great ideas, but the controls and the UI seem so incomplete, as if the whole game was rushed after having done the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game sux balls.. they should have made imperium galactica III such a waste of a great game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was there space before Stellaris?.. Yep, there was. And it's Haegemonia series, which consist of only two games, this original one and its stand-alone expansion pack, The Solon Heritage. The games were pretty good for its time. I played Haegemonia in the early 2000s and for some reason I missed Homeworld series all together. And I must say that before release of Sins of Solar Empire in 2008 there wasn't any other space RTS with similar gameplay formula.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Epic strategy. Played through it multiple times back in the day. Not the brightest star of Digital Reality, but almost as good as IG.
