60 of 188 · most liked firstThe Steam version of this collection of games is currently broken as the emulator that DotEmu is using to run the games in can not run 54fps games properly so the game run faster than normal meaning that the games stutter a lot and are completely unplayable. Weirdly enough the non-Steam versions do not have this issue and are fine. (at least for me on my computer) Avoid this product till DotEmu fixes these issues! EDIT: Game runs at 54fps normaly not 57fps like I stated in the review before.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Horrendous stuttering, the games are unplayable in this state. Music plays much faster than it should, is incredibly annoying. The devs don't care at all. No hope of any of the problems being fixed. Avoid buying this game and avoid anything involving DotEmu. Pick up Raiden IV instead, that is a great port and one of the best games in the Raiden series.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THE ISSUES REGARDING STUTTERING APPEAR TO BE FIXED i encountered none of the issues listed in previous reviews, so i can only assume that the problems the game had upon its release have been fixed, seeing as my computer is pretty much average in terms of specs with that out of the way, these games are fantastic, if hard as hell, and to me are a steal for the summer sale price of $2.49 (even for $10 i think it would still be worth it honestly)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →How to piss me off in a minute or less: autofire means the game fires for you slowly without pressing any buttons, and trying to press the button to fire faster in conjunction with autofire on can jam the firing if you hold the button down too long. This is a lazy port of the mobile release of Raiden Legacy. Do not buy, forget the hackjob nuts that ported this crap.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love Raiden and I love the Raiden Fighters series. These games are among my favorite classic vertical shooters. This is, however, probably the worst version of them that exists. DotEmu has already released one small patch, so hopefully there will be more. They are needed. If things get fixed I'll edit this review to reflect it. The Good: - Four awesome shooters for ten bucks. This includes Raiden, Raiden Fighters, Raiden Fighters 2, and Raiden Fighters Jet. These games rock and this is one…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The announcement of Raiden Fighters Remix collection (not coming to steam as of now) made me come back to rant about this abortion. It is truly unbelievable what dotemu has been allowed to do with this collection. Where to start... This game was released on android devices like the ouya console in 2012. It sold for $3.99. This is a port of that exact game. I believe the extra 6 bucks got us a rapid fire button, worse emulator, and a scanline option. Inexplicably, it ran better on android.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great shooter with solid gameplay. Music is pretty much good but might feel kinda muffled because it's old arcade game. Interface leaves much to be desired. I did not encounter any problems when using gamepad except some minor skipping in the settings. Overall decent collection of shooters from arcades.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just saying, but I do have a curator page. If like my remarks about games, you can find more of them here: https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44130985-TDP%27s-Gaming-Escapades Let me tell you a story. Back when Streets of Rage 4 was first announced, I thought it would fail to be a good game and refused to be excited for it, with the reason being DotEmu's involvement. A lot of my friends didn't get why I was so mad and I think that's because they never had any experience in having their…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- So before I start my review - make sure that you check out my guide with a FIX for the horrible framerate that this version has: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1413309775 The Fix restores the original wrapper/launcher that DotEmu used for the Gog/smartphone versions, and while it eliminates the FPS issues, the drawback is that you lose online multiplayer and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Four exhilarating fantastic Raiden vertical shooters. The original Raiden looks something out of the 90's though the others look good and all play great. The musical score is top notch, though the score and the sound fidelity unfortunately seem somewhat muted. The overall presentation is more than sufficient. There are complaints in the forum and in many reviews concerning the allowance of only 3 continues. First; each game has 3 modes; Arcade, Mission and Training. Training serves up…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The music just randomly drops out at certain points. This collection simply does not look, sound, or play anywhere near as good as the Raiden Fighters Aces collection and it doesn't have nearly as many options or even start you off with the same number of ships in Raiden Fighters. The existence of this game on Steam just makes Aces, a superior game, less likely to show up. How disappointing. And no, I have not actually logged over 400 hours with this game--I just couldn't get it to work at…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I read the reviews before buying and they're all over the place. I can say, for me, as of 2022, this game is unplayable. It's a flickery, botched frame rate mess. For the people who seem to be working, please share with us what you did.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, greetings to all Raiden Lovers, who spent almost there whole childhood on this game. Those were the times :D Now..to this game (Raiden 1 in the collection) pretty much looks and sounds like an exact port of the arcade version. It blows the console versions out of the water. The SNES version is a joke (the graphics look cartoony, imo). The Genesis version is pretty good. But... Here's what Raiden Legacy (Raiden 1) has that the Genesis version (Raiden Trad) does not... Enemy planes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →With the new Raiden Fighters Remix collection out today for the Switch and PS4/5 and skipping the PC, presumably because this collection is still for sale, I decided to go back and have a deeper look into a collection I only played briefly years ago while I usually play these games on MAME. So, yeah, it's not great. The Raiden Fighters series of games originally played at 54fps in the arcades and are 57 here. While that sounds like nitpicking, it does make a difference. Because even in a genre…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An awesome collection of RAIDEN games, all the games run perfect :D. A must have for fans of shoot `em ups.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Raiden Legacy is the perfect gift for the fans of the series and the Shoot 'em up genre. It includes four great games full of action and plenty Bullet Hell moments. The overall playing time of the package exceeds 15 hours and with so many crafts to chose from is certain that you will never ever get bored. In Raiden Legacy, the spin offs of the franchise are presented in their perfect form, distributing the content in many different mods. In arcade mode is sufficient the choice of a craft…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unlike the arcade original, the sound here is of low quality. Good shmups have good sound; bad shmups have bad sound. Refunded.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →People should update their reviews on this game. Too much old noise about frame issues still persist giving people the idea that this is 'broken'. it is not. Is it perfect then? Probably not but i can't really confirm nor bother to really dig into this. Even after patching this is 'probably not 1:1 to what it was in the arcades'. I only remember very vaguely how original Raiden worked in the 90's when i played this in the arcade. Do i really need to worry so much about this that i need to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I purchased this game for probably less than $0.50 and I still feel ripped off. The controls for this game do not work. I try wired/wireless, XBOX 360, XB1, PS4. Nothing works. I'm usually pretty lenient on shoot'em ups not being arcade perfect. But this goes beyond just missing some slowdown here or there. The speed of the game is completely wrong. There's actual performance and controller issues with every title in this collection. There's an insane amount of stuttering. Buttons and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Warning!!! Avoid steam version AnDDDD Juuust stick to GoG version without heavy stutteringgggggggggggggggggg
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →ポートは完全に台無しだ!雷電はもっと良く扱われるべきだった!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why nobody fixes this game after so many years? Seems like it's a lost case. There is a nice menu, which includes leaderboards, training mode, some graphic options, but it has issues. A lot of them! Big input lag, screen stuttering, sound problems, so you can't enjoy the amazing tracks in every stage. It's a great collection, but also don't understand, why Raiden 2 wasn't included. Doesn't makes any sense. I wanted to play after a while and turning this off in only a few minutes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You seriously only get 3 Credits for these games and then you have to start over from the beginning. It is insane. I managed to beat Raiden Fighter Jets, but my god, look at the global stats for achievements and you will see that only 2% of owners even beat one of these Raiden games. Utterly, dismal. ::Edit:: The credit-feeding issue seems to be a severe trigger for some people who play shoot'em ups. This is just a bad port, okay. It lacks effort. It looks like trash. It has bad…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wish the game played better. The stutter from lag makes the game difficult to play with any accuracy. Too bad I had such high hopes.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome! No bugs, the game runs perfectly. Fans of these game type will be delighted. I recommend. Thanks DotEmu! :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →horrible ports, ♥♥♥♥ dotemu
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought either my bluetooth connection or my DS4 was acting up. Every 5 or so seconds, I would lose control of the analog stick or d-pad defaulting back to center mid movement. I tried resetting the BT connection, and also going wired via usb. Either option resulted in the same loss of control. So I tried various other games and shmups, and it seems Raiden Legacy is the only game that has this problem. All 4 games in this collection have this same problem. Add to the fact that the sound in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My only complaint about this compilation is that the music in the original Raiden is strangely quiet. But other than that, it's not a bad compilation really. I'm honestly not a big fan of DotEmu's emulation works, as DotEmu doesn't believe in quality. I'm being very honest here. You're better off getting this game on mobile smartphones, or playing these games on MAME. Aside from that, I had a great time with this compilation, to be honest.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is extremely bare bones and I would not buy it. Things it lacks: It lacks the ability to look at the attract modes of the various games. If you game over, it boots you back to the menu. It will only occasionally save your high score. It won't save your initials, and on the occasion that it does decide to save your high score it only saves your very highest one. There are no save states. So you cannot adequately practice. It has 3 different game modes. "Arcade", "Training", and,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It seems to be a lottery whether this will run properly or not on the customer's computer; I turned out to be one of the unfortunate ones, I even tried Vulkan wrappers to see if it would fix the unacceptable performance issues I was facing but it did not help: the framerate is inconsistent, suffering frameskipping while enemy bullets are accelerated to be faster than Psikyo's. 'Tis pity because the games are great and there's a training mode that allows to select stages, but that is rendered…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →broken garbage port avoid it... edit: ok, it's awful but at least playable if you lock the frame rate to 54fps for the Raiden Fighters games, but ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ these games deserve a much better re-release than being stuck on Dotemu's back catalogue of broken emulated ports.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still doesn't work 8 years on, but they're still allowed to take our money while on the run in Mexico.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What can I say? This another quality Dotemu monstrosity. There's a reason Dotemu has a bad reputation when it comes to ports. It's because they suck at them and this is no exception. The lag is horrendous and there are spots in the various games where the music starts playing on the opening of a stage and then it just vanishes into the background at like.. 5% volume. This collection is an abomination I got in a $2 bundle years ago and anyone who would legitimately pay $10 for this is an…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Poor low effort port of the classic Raiden games by Dotemu. Frequent frame drops on these games where precision is necessary just serves to frustrate. Also, there is a glitch with Raiden Fighters 2 where sometimes you start the game it switches to Raiden Fighters 1 instead, with the sound no longer working. If you are into achievements, good luck trying to complete any of these games with the 3 coin/credit limit because even if I had 10 credits, I still can't do it. The frequent frame drops…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Works great now. This is my second purchase of the game, bought it when it was broken on Windows 8/10, got a refund from Steam, but now it seems fixed. 2 things, first set the resolution to 1920x1080, second turn the filter off (video settings both) and you get the best experience. Glad this finally works! This is the only way to play Raiden Fighters series if you're not an Xbox owner (me).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →achievements (some) doesn`t seem to work (unlock). so no, this game is too hard to give it positive review knowing this
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →absolute garbage port of great games
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is too difficult to play unless you are a professional or veteran to bullet hell type games. Dotemu, if you want to make future emulated game learn from Hamster Corporation's Arcade Archives. Their games run better and have more customization including lower difficulties for new or casual players.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As much as I love the Raiden series, this is way too bad compared to the emulators. No game introduction and only 3 credits to complete the entire game, without the ability to add any more... Coin up machines were based on adding coins!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Used to not work but that issue seems to have been fixed. With a good joystick this collection is both fun and hard as nails. AMAZING soundtracks to get destroyed to.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When you buy this game you think... is everyone really right? could it possibly be that bad? Well the answer is absolutely yes. I bought it. I know. Mame is better BUT it's on sale so I guess buy it if you want to be "pseudo legal" owner of the games... Put in Raiden Fighters, and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, microstuttering like crazy. BTW I'm running a 1070 GTX so if you think its a computer horsepower thing, it isnt. its just the port. I believe this is probably because they are trying to run the original…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just picked this up thankfully i can report that most of the problems that plagued this game at launch are fixed. the frame rate was about right and i found no lag issues. Pros good frame rate and no lag that i could feel most of the 2-D retro Raiden and Fighters series is present (so there is a lot of great games to play) Cons: Biggest issue why no Raiden 2????? HD Music option does not work, it starts ok and then goes real low to the point were i thought the music glitched out (turn this…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a pretty good collection, but why is Raiden II missing? That's probably the most famous one of all!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i really like raiden, but this port is really bad, my xbox one controller freezes every now and then so i cannot play
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best bullet hell games I have played. Using a game pad works without an issue. Game can run on low end hardware, I play it on a hp g7 laptop with a amd 3500 with 8 gb of ram.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Haven't had any of the issues described in older reviews... Game runs well. Good collection of classic SHMUPs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Every game has a stutter that makes it impossible to dodge oncoming enemies and bullets. If they could fix that, this would be an easy game to recommend, but as it stands, it's totally unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nice arcade game with a lot of fun! the game is challenging thank a lot !!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Look how they massacred my boy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The port is as bad as they say. Big random lag spikes, inconsistent frame rate and the music sounds worse than arcade emulation. People who say this is the perfect arcade version aren't exactly right bc the intro is missing and you can't switch planes when you die. I really just bought this for coop remote play and there's also online coop so it's not all bad but at the end of the day until this port gets fixed (probably never will) I'll mostly just emulate these games
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Games lags something awful. Framerate is all over the place and the resolution resets every time I start it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hate Raiden Legacy Steam Edition because it keeps lag and crash always.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Emulation sucks, It's missing all of the features Raiden Fighters Ace on 360 had, do not recommend
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A release of great games that was poorly executed and non-supported by the developer. Maybe someone else at some point will do these justice.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Raiden is awesome. This release is not. Whole game stutters constantly. It's stuck around 55-57fps and just feels atrocious to play. The in-game audio levels are much lower than the menu menu audio levels too. It's all very jarring and there seems to be no reason for it other than being a shoddily made collection. Stay away, even if you want to support the Raiden series.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After all the negative reviews complaining about the fps, stutters and the sound being too low. I was a little bit hesitant to buy this collection. But I must say, being new to Shoot 'em up titles and this one in particular. These issues haven't occured to me at all. Except for the sound being a little bit too low especially in the first game ; Raiden 1. These games look and play great, everyone should try them. If you're not sure yet, just wishlist this collection and buy when discounted.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice Games, but bad emulation. The scrolling is stuttering all the time, the music volume turns up and down from alone, the intro sequences from the original Arcade Games were cut and it jumps right in the Game, no credit insertion possible. No response from Dotemu since 2015.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bad port. The menu has framerate issues and the game gives you only 2 credits, meaning only 2 continues. You cant add credits as far as I know, so you are forced to play it perfectly or you lose and have to start over again from the beginning.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am aware that many users seem to have technical issues with this game that can not be ignored. So i wanted to give a heads up: I did not encounter any problem at all. I am running this game on Windows 10 with a pretty good gaming PC. MAYBE this game is running a tiny fraction too fast or too slow, but i am not able to identify that problem. Everything feels right to me. I might be the exception with a lucky system configuration that just works, or there might be issues i just am not able to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dunno why there are so many bad reviews. If its on sale buy it if your a Raiden Fan! Don't pay full price. The game plays great with controller, and the frame rate is fine on my PC,. I dont get what the fuss is about, and all the negitive reviews. Great games and deal, Classic. Worth just for Raiden.
