Puzzle Kingdoms is a puzzle video game developed by Infinite Interactive for PC, Nintendo DS, and Wii. The PC version is available to download online through services such as IGN's Direct2Drive and Steam. Like Infinite Interactive's previous game Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords, Puzzle Kingdom relies on a core combat mechanic similar to Bejeweled, though this offering incorporates turn-based strategy… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

Developed by Infinite Interactive and published by Strategy First, Puzzle Kingdoms is yet another terrific title from their wonderful puzzle series of games. If you're a fan of match three, puzzle, roleplaying or any combination of the three then you'll be pleasantly surprised by Puzzle Kingdoms. The game is very fun, can quickly become quite addictive and provide you with hours of intense gameplay. From what I've read on various forums, many people who enjoyed the first title, Puzzle Quest:…

When I bought Puzzle Kingdoms, it was on a 90% Steam sale and costed me a buck and a half. Unfortunately, money isn't the biggest concern when it comes to a game's actual worth, the real valuable resource we truly pay when playing games is time. Puzzle Kingdoms is a Bejeweled-like puzzle game with some strategy RPG elements thrown in. Now if you're not farmiliar with those match the shapes kind of games that's been flooding the web for the past several years, you're not missing much. The…

Just - NO. Move on, and leave it to rest in peace. It was somewhat like the touchstone for the Infinite Interactive, a new beggining after the very successful Puzzle Quest. Sadly, it was not made as sweet and refined. Now, after years passed and we have newer games from the same developer, it is just a filler, an irrelevant and bothering stuff you don't really need. Especially when you have to pay for it. Well, on the bright side, there is a somewhat interesting fantasy story... and music. On…

I'd probably play the crap out of this on my phone or something but it's pretty basic and gets old fast. Puzzle Quest and Puzzle Quest 2 are way better, since they've touted this game as being "from the creators of Puzzle Quest." I guess if you're looking for a fairly mindless game to blow time on it's okay but wait for a super cheap deal.

A fun matching puzzle game with a twist of RPG thrown in. It actually turned out pretty well and you can unlock a variety of heroes, battle units, and relics to support you in your quest as you fight your way through the different kingdoms. Your heroes level up through battles to learn new spells to support you. If you ever wondered what a matching game like Bejeweled would be like with fantasy elements and more of a story/goal to it then here it is.

I bought this game on the premise "from makers of puzzle quest". But it is worse that pq galactrix. In puzzle quest you play to match 3. Here you must play so that your opponent dont match it. And even so it is completly random because of the tiles that comes from the borders.

A review from heart, for all those who need to decide if they want that game or not. I am really supprised that this game has "Mixed" reviews. I don't understand why people can possibly give any negative feedback about this game. Yes! I do know it's old. Yes! I know graphics aren't the best, but back then nobody cared about graphics. What an addictive game! I wasn't expecting much, to be honest, but I installed it, played a bit, and here we are, 25 hours later. Yes, 25 hours for a single playthrough. Okay, yeah, I started over a few times early on, but once I got the hang of it I just kept going. The primary gameplay is match 3, with a slider rather than a swap mechanism. Each kingdom you conquer opens up a tavern and a ruin where you can find new relics, spells and items, and recruit new troops. To do this, you use some of…

Puzzle Kingdoms is a game that tries to fool you into thinking it can do more than you think. Reading about about it or looking at screenshots might make you think it's a game of conquest, of gathering artifacts, of strategy and magic. I am here to tell you, don't be fooled. Puzzle Kingdoms is a fairly poor Bejeweled clone with a metagame tacked on. You do "conquer" new lands but it's really just series of Bejeweled games. You do find new items and artifacts but it requires you to play through…

Puzzles. Kingdoms. Heroes. Battles. Pure Win. I've never been a fan of puzzle games, so when I saw this one's premise I thought that maybe this was a puzzle game for me: think of Bejeweled meets Heroes of Might and Magic and you'll be close of what this is. You're a hero, and have hero stuff to do. In order to kick some ass, you'll need to build an army. To do it, you'll engage on mighty battle against various villains, taking turns on a bewejeled-like game made to simulate battle... And…

Too much randomness, too little skill, and frequent stalemates where the best move is to deny your opponent play. Boring except when it's frustrating. Get the original Puzzle Quest, or Gyromancer, but not this.

You can think of this as a casual game with a tactical twist, or a tactical game with a casual twist. Either way, the game has a fair amount of depth to it. You build armies, level-up heroes, choose spells and artifacts to equip, and battle across the land all through match-3 style puzzles where you play against the computer AI. The match-3 puzzles play a little differently from the standard "move one color tile to create a row of 3 or more" style found in most match-3 titles. In this game…

Quick summary because I don't want to waste even more time on this game: No strategic AI nor strategic multiplayer, which renders the strategic map useless. Brain-dead AI that will continue matching gems even when it can deliver a crippling blow or save for a powerful spell. The puzzle challenges are entirely random. The story is bad and cares so little that the game will call you a "he" regardless of what character you pick. And on, and on, and on. Avoid at all costs!

NOTE: I paid 90p for this game during a 90% sale a few years back, and my review is based on a price around that region. £10.99 is too steep, but 75% off or above is reasonable. Puzzle Kingdoms takes a familiar match-three base and adds a little spin on it to make it feel fresh. Basic gameplay involves pushing tiles onto a grid of blocks, making the rest of the row or coloumn move along by one tile and hopefully making a line of 3. The spin comes from the player-built armies you take into each…

I want to like this game, but it seems unbalanced and unfinished. The story is forgettable but that's no big deal. The battles are far too easy for the most part. I find the time-based puzzles (to unlock troops) frustrating. There are elements in the game (some of the kingdom stuff) that don't really do anything leading me to wonder if it was released undone. Grab it while on sale! Very good game. Most people compare it to another one to judge it, which is pretty unfair. Game mechanics: You play Match 3 against an AI opponent by pulling on one row or column each turn. Once done, your opponent plays, and so on. If you match 3, you get the point, and your opponent doesn't. You also have unlimited time to think your move. Contrary to most Match 3 where the speed is crucial, here it's all about careful playing and clever moves. You have soldiers…

A Major Dissappointment Puzzle Kingdoms is a setback from the other titles of the genre. The outdated graphics leave nothing much to be desired and whatever enjoyment I obtained from the game does not warrant the time I have invested in it, and that is saying much, considered that I have tried various puzzle games available on steam and have so far do not found any as disappointing as this one. Strategy, rpg and match 3 all in one? Sounds like a great combo, until you actually play the game and realize Lord Antharg is not just an antagonist but the actual designer of this game. I feel like this game in incomplete. It seems like it was designed to bring puzzle quest match 3 game play to a strategy game, but they got to the limit of their budget before they programmed the AI. So you just go through the map like in puzzle quest but with fewer RPG elements. The space puzzle quest is the best, I think. But they all overstay their welcome.

This is a turn-based match 3 puzzle game with some RPG elements thrown in because why not. The game board seems to always be in favor of your opponent. You always seem to never have a match, allowing your opponent to make one after you waste your turn. The single biggest issue in the game by far is that once you lose a battle, you're screwed. You don't get your troops back. You're given the option to "lose half your gold and continue", but then you can't buy any new troops, so it's useless.…

Match-3 games by themselves always have an element of randomness, but even then it feels overtuned for this title. You can go for many rounds without matching a single set that you need and you need 2-3 matches of that color to attack in the first place. Not that it really matters since the AI hardly, if ever, attacks you. Combined with the bland story and this boils down to being a slog.
