39 of 39 · most liked firstMine is the fourth review for this game. It's a walking simulator, so basically the only game play present is walking. I don't understand the negative reviews for the lack of game play, buy another game right? Graphics that do not disappoint and the sound is also good, what is left out too much is the story which unfortunately in a game of this type should be decidedly engaging. All in all I recommend it if you find it on sale. 6/10 my rating also taking into consideration the very short…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is another walking sim from Tonguç Bodur, however, as opposed to his previous games here we can get a taste of city areas, too. Mostly, the game still focuses on us making strolls in nature while there's narration and a story unfolds. Interestingly, this is not in present time but in 1951. The game has the usual relaxing approach while giving us the possibility to make screenshots. Overall, there are 4 chapters and the majority end with an easy puzzle. I remember Tonguç using the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright. Purpose 1951 is done and dusted. This is the latest release by Tonguç Bodur, and a return to the more straightforward style of walking simulator he is well known for. I feel like each time I play one of Tonguç's games, I find myself thinking it's his best so far, and this is no different. Which is a testimony to his ability to continue refining and evolving his skills as a writer and developer. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3230004639 In this game, the…

Welcome to PURPOSE 1951. PURPOSE 1951 is a Walking Simulator. You are following the Story of a Doctor in 1951. While you are walking through wonderfull Landscapes a Voice is telling his Story. The Scenes are well conected to the Storytelling. For example when it goes bad for the Doctor, you are walking through a windy and rainy Landscape.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a big fan of Tonguç Bodur's games.. His atmosphere, scenery and stories are always so very interesting and intriguing.. I always wait awhile and then enjoy a re-play...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game play was extremely short with little interactivity, and the story ended right around the time it got somewhat compelling. The ending felt slopped together and rushed - maybe they got bored with this project and wanted to get it over with? If so, they shouldn't be seeking a profit for it. I liked the concept, the story had potential. It is visually appealing, but I can see a lot of corners were cut. The voice actor was monotone, absolutely no emotion. The writing felt unnatural to me.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Purpose 1951 is a short and linear walking simulator narrated by a medical practitioner who reminisces about the hardships of being a surgeon during the post-World War II period. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3243101544 Set in the United States in the 1950s, when medical equipment was scarce and the possibilities of performing thorough medical check-ups were very limited, the surgeon faces a life crisis after a failed surgery on a patient with strong political ties.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An especially short and eminently mediocre walking sim from Tonguç Bodur. It's nice to see a bit more variation in the level design than in Tonguç's usual output. Graphics are pretty enough (Unreal Engine with an assortment of 3rd-party assets), though be warned that the palette is dripping with saturation. Let's call it an "artistic choice". Also nice that the default walking speed is not the usual snail's pace. There's even a section in which you ride a bicycle. Wow, an actual genre-breaking…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played almost all of this developer's previous games and like most of them. Unfortunately, I can't say that for this. While it looked nice as always, the story is not interesting. If I need to describe this game with one word, that would be "uninspired". It is very much the same style as most of the earlier ones, but I was getting bored around half way through. I only finished the game to get the last achievements.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was hoping this would be like a really good experience visually and audio. The audio is good. The visuals are good from distance, they are good until you take a look closer and you can see that they didn't put too much of an effort in this game. The game let me to glitch, you have a nice feature in graphics called "effects" that makes the game broken. I think its an asset flip, and a really bad one. Story? you would think with that cinematic would be like a really nice story, at the end his…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a pointless game. Somewhat modelled on "Dear Esther" but with cheaper graphics, ruminating and cliche monologues by a voice actor who sounds way too young to give his sermon any gravitas. Neither the "story", nor the sound design (you cannot call that music) or the movement via keyboard is sophisticated. The depiction of nature, weather, colours, distances, animals, etc., is not worked out decently. All and all, it looks and feels like a mediocre design study from art class. I don't…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would lie if id say its plain bad but there is one thing that every walking sim need: A good story with a good voice or way of telling or a good ambience that takes you away into the world of the story. This game is lacking both. Especially the hospital scene was very annoying because you walk 1 meter in a minute. All in one sadly not really good. I cant recommend it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Steer clear of this student work garbage. - The visuals range from "okay" to "beautiful" - the level design is terrible, loveless and oftentimes nonsense - the voice acting is about the worst thing i have ever witnessed and kills the whole game - the story must have been written as homework by a student, its absolutely terrible. Every sentence is the same simplistic structure, repetitive and juvenile. - the whole experience felt artificial and shallow, from level design to story - its called…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A solid walkin' simulator right here. It even features voice acting. That's what I'm talkin about. Didn't encounter any game breakin bugs. The game ran solid enough for me. We play as a doctor whom reminices on his time int he healthcare field. Give it a go. Gameplay Impressions: https://youtu.be/ikMLTLXz5NE
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love walking simulators. Narrative adventure games. I really do. It is probably my favorite genre of video game because you can do so much, make the player feel such a wide range of emotions, without needing to have the player point a gun at everything or save the world from some grave danger. You can tell as large or as small of a story as you like in this genre. Walking Sims have come a long way. Dear Esther was arguably the first back in 2012 and people derided it for being barely a video…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would recommend not buying Purpose 1951. This is the first time I say something like that in a review, non the least as first sentence. It is not the quality or the content. It is the fact that in the interlude of the second chapter (“2 years ago…”) there is a massive graphic glitch with some PCs. The city at night lights up in all different colors without pattern, very bright with a bit a lot of movement of said lights. I do not have a problem with Epilepsia or other things and I am not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its a short but stunning walking simulator. Beautiful environments, calming music, and reflective narration make it perfect for a contemplative hour, if you love atmospheric stories and exploring gorgeous scenery like me then this is absolutely worth giving a try!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Graphics: ★★★☆☆ - There's some real beauty in the city graphics and the lightning during the hospital scene. But overall the game feels very muddy and not as eye catching as the screenshots present. Audio/Music: ★★★☆☆ - Some of the music is very well made, some great piano loops. The environmental sounds do come off somewhat harsh though. Storyline/Writing: ★★☆☆☆ - While some of the ideas throw you for a small loop, the general census of the writing feels very stark. Game value: ★★★☆☆ - Just…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Purpose 1951 Positives: + Ok story + Some nice scenery and landscapes + Some good graphics + Good sound and music + Nice voiceover + FOV adjuster + Wildlife + Auto-walk feature Negatives: - Not enough variation - Story starts slow - Some low resolution textures (especially rocks and mountains) - Quite soft looking and almost blurry graphics (even on ultra settings) - High FPS demands a great computer - Some of the filters does not look great - Stiff animations - All over in about one hour If…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy walking simulators, and this one was a really nice experience. The visuals are beautiful, the music fits perfectly, and the atmosphere is exactly what I look for in games like this .. calm, emotional, and reflective. My only issue was with the voice acting, it felt a little flat at times, but honestly, everything else more than makes up for it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3225706925 Beautiful visuals and music, I personally didn't like the story and the voice acting that in my opinion was emotionless. I'm just happy with exploring, finding notes and no voice acting at all. I'm sorry for saying this, but the voice put me off and I'm honestly not putting a thumb down by respect for Tonguç Bodur's work.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Purpose 1951 is a story-focused exploration game developed and published by Tonguç Bodur that builds its experience around atmosphere, introspection, and emotional storytelling rather than conventional gameplay systems. Set during the early 1950s in America, the game presents a deeply personal journey centered on a retired doctor whose life has reached a painful crossroads. Instead of relying on combat encounters, difficult mechanics, or fast-paced action, Purpose 1951 delivers a slower and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A decent walking sim by Tonguk Bodur. As usual, you walk along various paths, with the occasional puzzle and collect a story via narrative. If you've played his games before this is not unfamiliar to you. The visuals and music are really good as usual. The story wasn't bad, just not very inspired. i wasn't thrilled with the narrator either. He sounds like he's reading from a script. (OK, OK, I know he WAS reading from a script, but still ...) The one thing I didn't get the purpose of, was…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another walking sim by Tonguç Bodur with some beautiful sceneries and great music. Not a fan of the story or writing on this one. Not their best work, but it's alright.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Okish adventure/story-focused walking sim. Ending is a bit meh though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Purpose 1951 resembles Dear Esther but without the emotional gravity that game offers. The game’s narrator feels flat and unmoved by the traumas of his life. Then at the game’s completion, the narrator’s resolve feels cheap and insignificant. Even if you are fan of walking simulators, I wouldn’t recommend Purpose 1951.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't want to be that guy, but why didn't he just move away? That's the biggest question I have after finishing this. I have very mixed feelings about Purpose 1951. It's a walking sim by Tonguç Bodur that delights in most of the ways Tonguç Bodur is known for. The environments are a highly detailed sight to behold. The sound is excellent! The music appropriately accentuates the tone and mood of the narrative. The narrative itself is rather lacking compared to Tonguç's previous works. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a short but beautiful Walking Simulator game with good graphics and touching heart music.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you have some kind of sensitive light problem (Photophobia), don't play this game. the environnement light changes in different lights to give mood and puzzle are blurred of pixels in withe and light color. Let's complain a bit because of how this is making the game unpleasant to play, that I have a high possibly to rise the brightness I must lower it and not too much but otherwise the game becomes pitch black. Those puzzles to change chapters are horrible.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played a couple or three Tonguc Bodur games in my day, but Purpose 1951 is more annoying than most. Am I eligible to get a degree in Tonguc Bodur Studies? Anyway, Purpose 1951 is a walking simulator. What I will give the game is that you do walk in it. What I won't give the game is much else. The foliage and animals in the environments aren't very naturalistic. There are caverns lit by torchlight (for those who don't know, Americans invented electric lights, and by 1951 there were plenty…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished the game this morning. Very short game. finished it in 52 munutes. The reason my playtime ays 86 minutes is because I had to start again. Finished the game with 100 percent achievements. Its a great walking simulaotr game. No collectibles as you as you walk around, its just looking at the views. As you walk you get voiceover dialogue about a doctor's life and downfall, as he went from a top docotr to the bottom rung of society. Its a decent game if you like peaceful walking sims. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A reminiscence of ones tragic life taken to the epicenter of the pinnacle moment which will change everything for better or worse.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →voice acting is giving burger king foot lettuce guy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is definitely short, but overall not bad. Recommend getting it on sale if you can. The story is impactful even if it is a bit on the darker or more depressing side. Easy to earn all the achievements with the guide that is available. Overall would recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A brief walking simulator/first-person game that is priced accordingly. Tonguç Bodur is a master of "trying different approaches" with all his games. Different storylines, sometimes preachy but often deep in scope. And, as always, beautiful graphics and pleasant background music. The game was well-optimized with visual settings maxed out, even on my 5 year old desktop PC. As stated, it's very short: four chapters (give or take an interlude) that only take about five minutes or so each to…
