I did like Polimines, but I think Polimines 2 lacks what made the first game fun - the mixture of simplicity and intuitiveness. The levels in Polimines 2 quickly get very big, making them an absolute chore to solve - couple that with the achievement to get every level perfect without mistakes and it quickly leads to frustration. What personally bothered me was that many levels, especially after 30, only seemed to be solvable by finding out what you can't do rather than finding a move you can…

Fantastic puzzler, and much more difficult than its predecessor. Don't let the achievement stats fool you: until a guide was published, less than 0.5% of players even had the achievement for solving 30 of the 60 puzzles in the game. I do recommend solving the puzzles on your own though, even if, as me, you'll end up stumped for hours on some of the puzzles. It will make finishing the game that much more rewarding.

Simply an astounding puzzle game. Polimines 2 is a work of puzzle art. I recommend savoring it properly. Don't guess, avoid rushed errors. Take breaks and prolong the joy of solving these lovingly crafted, elegant wonders. Other reviews mention how these puzzles flow. They reveal their cleverly hidden secrets only and just when it's needed, right when you thought you were stuck. It's brilliant!

The first game was pleasant if a bit on the short side. This sequel ups the difficulty tremendously to the point of totally unreasonable tedium. It's all well and good to have handcrafted puzzles that can be solved without guessing, but the path one can follow is at time just too narrow in puzzles just too large. And walking this path implies comparing multiple assumptions that sometimes go extremely deep without being falsified, all of this with a notation tool that is extremely rudimentary...…

I have several problems with this game that severely makes it unenjoyable for me: 1. "Relaxing and Minimalist": Relaxing my ass, there is a no mistake requirement for every level, and you NEED to no-mistake all of them for one of the achievements. None of the other similar games is this punishing (even in Hexcells you're allowed to make at most 1 mistake per level). It is not relaxing to play these levels at all, it's stressful because whenever you make a mistake you'll have to screencap to…

It has good mechanics, but it lacks quality-of-life features that should go with this level of difficulty. Like an indication that a number has been completed (horizontally, vertically, or both) or a way to do the 1st order bruteforcing work automatically (like in 14 Minesweeper Variants). Or when a question mark ¿? applies both ways, it should be revealed once you complete one side. You can make drawings but only using black and white (whose mouse bindings are the reverse of the mine/nonmine…

I enjoyed the first Polimines a lot, but this one is superior in every way. The way it consistently ramps up the challenge and introduces new mechanics is superbly done. Highly recommended for fans of Picross/nonogram games, or anyone who enjoys challenging, thoughtful puzzling!

Great sequel to the original game. This time it's much, much longer and harder (~22h vs ~3h). This is basically minesweeper meets sudoku. Chances are you're already a fan of the Hexcells trilogy who came here looking for more and you'll get exactly what you want. There are a couple unique mechanics to twist up the Hexcells formula here, too. After this game, check out: Globesweeper Hex Puzzler, Puzlogic, and Hexologic. All amazing games of the similar genre.

This game does everything right. The puzzles are well-crafted and challenging, and it gives you the tools to solve them without any random guessing. The UI is customizable, so you can adjust most features to appear the way you want them. There is no timer to rush you or keep you superficially glued to the game. It is pure, unadulterated, deduction-based puzzling. The only downside is that there's no computer-generated "infinite mode," but the hand-crafting is also its strength.

Puzzles can only be solved through trial and error, which doesn't really feel like solving a puzzle at all. There's often no way (at least to me) to combine factors to logic out answers. Harder does not always equal better with puzzle games.

Good part: It's a massive step-up compared to the previous game, on puzzle variety, difficulty, and QoL. Things I don't like: It's not relaxing at all. One of the most stressful games I've played. Requires a lot of patience combing through all the parts of the puzzles trying to find a breakthrough. And noticing patterns is quite hard, at least for me, when the puzzles become huge. Things I hate: Mistake count and the inclusion of an achievement that requires it to be 0 for all puzzles. It…

Simple premise, but excellent game for those who love solving logic puzzles. And you can tell all the puzzles are hand-designed - they all have a good flow and a good progression between them. They do ramp up and get pretty challenging to solve, but that just makes each breakthrough that much more satisfying.

Too hard. The first game was perfect. If the first game extended the 30 puzzles to the first 20 of game 2, to make one game with 50 puzzles. Also perfect. But omg this is just hard for the sake of it. It's just not fun anymore. I understand everything was perfectly crafted to always be able to make progress, but spending the better part of an hour figuring out that piece of information after so many wrong guesses is just work at that point. It's probably a skill issue, but I also flew through…

The perfect refinement of the original concept. The first game almost like a tutorial to this one. The new mechanics adding some extra complexity in a good way. Lots of fun trying to unravel those sort of "locked boxes" by pushing around where parts can move, bit by bit. Making use of your logical thinking to its reasonable utmost, there will never be a moment where you can't solve it with some clear steps and reasoning, figuring out the possible and the impossible to progress. Can only repeat what other wrote in here. Take your time and really, REALLY try to solve those puzzles on your own. Solving a level (preferably without a mistake) and hearing the churchbell in the background after finishing is quite satisfying, even more if you struggled at a point or two in the level for a certain time. If you are somebody who is easily frustrated, this game might not be suited for you. (Still try the demo or the first few levels though!)

It doesn't feel like a puzzle for me. It feels just random with the mines and you hardly get a clue from the numbers on the side. Most of it become question marker and it feels more like a chore. I ended up clicking all the boxes to get through it. I'm so sorry, but it isn't for me. Maybe I'm too dumb ^^

I don't have a lot to say for this one except that it's the hardest minesweeper variant I've ever completed. There is no guessing needed in any puzzle (despite what you might think or feel) so if you usually breeze through this type of game and are looking for a challenge, Polimines and Polimines 2 are good bets (but this one is much more challenging than the first game, be warned). On first inspection this seems like another step and repeat in the vein of Hexcells or Tametsi (both excellent in their own right), but the use of contiguous block counts, along with a couple of 'special tile' mechanisms makes the solving logic significantly different. The escalating difficulty level is well judged, and the gradual introduction of some additional rule mechanics keeps the novelty of these puzzles fresh. Some people won't like the 'misclick pain' on the larger levels, but…

Greatly expands on the original. There are more levels, the levels are more difficult, and new rules are introduced to spice things up. There are also quality of life improvements, most important of which is the ability to draw, which in turn allows you to try some things out without actually committing to it or somehow imagining it in your mind. It reintroduces the rules from the first game, so you can easily pick this up without having played the first Polymines (but why would you, that game…

Brilliant! The puzzles get challenging and engaging very quickly. Each level presents one or two new ideas, some of which are completely original and not seen in Minesweeper or Nonograms, and the added mechanics get explored to their full potential. No part of the gameplay experience feels systematic the way solving an easy Minesweeper board does. One complaint I do have - which is hardly a complaint, because I have no idea how to solve it myself - is the "perfect solution" achievement. It…

While it may not have groundbreaking gameplay, there will be some brain-wracking moments. As one who loves Minesweeper and Nonograms, this does a disservice to both. I bought this because of the glowing reviews and realized what a mistake that was one I got into it. There is no logic here. Just reveal all the squares until you're done. Someone else even said they used an auto clicker to get through it. Mistakes mean nothing. There aren't enough numbers to even venture a guess. What a disappointment.

Very good logic puzzle game, much better than the first one. Some of the later levels are almost on the level of Tametsi, although I didn't need to use the "pencil" function as often as in Tametsi. The logic rules are pretty strong when I remember them, but I would have loved a quick rules summary when I come back to the game after time away instead of having to try to find the level where the rule was first introduced to refresh my memory. Most of my errors were due to mixing up left-click and…

This game was fantastic...until Level 24. Once they introduce the chainlink mechanic, this game becomes too obtuse for it's own good. I play a lot of logic puzzle games, do variant sudoku regularly, etc. I'm not thrown off easily by new rules. But the chainlink is such a lazy "it's around here somewhere" clue to force players to be reliant on, it immediately took me out of the zone and into a place of frustration. This is a great logic puzzler. The mechanics are explained clearly but concisely when they are introduced. There are 60 puzzles, which may seem few, but they increase in difficulty. If you make a mistake, which is likely after the first few puzzles, start again, there is no penalty, and you will not be locked out of an achievement for making mistakes. Runs well on both PCs and Macs. Worth the purchase price.

If the game has ended at its first 20 levels, I would blindly recommend it to anyone who likes interesting minesweeper variants, but there's an elephant in the room that we have to mention. The introduced mechanics are clear(-ish) and fun when you get to understand their gimmicks and gameplay value, but as each one of them is introduced, there's always a quick dufficulty ramp to a point where the game suddenly stops being a nonogram-minesweeper on steroids, and becomes something closer to an…

Sequel to one of the most interesting logic puzzle games of recent times. At first I was sceptical at the newly introduced tiles, but once I got used to them, they really enabled even more complex puzzles that seem impossible at first. It gets quite challenging at times and doesn't always fully balance the nonogram/minesweeper mix, but that hardly matters when it fully delivers on pure logic puzzle gameplay.
