35 of 35 · most liked firstI loved the concept of the game – a turn based battle, M3 quest adventure, but the implementation and lack of a couple of features turned it into a more frustrating than enjoyable experience. If they fixed some of the following, I would change this to a positive review. I thought this would be more like cave quest 2 - mostly obvious where battles are and could choose to do them but the battles are 99% of the time hidden. While you can skip most of them (click on sneakers on bottom right) when…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's aspects of this game I really wanted to like. The art is fun, the idea of the game is fine, the battle system is fairly well done (though I realize it's not everyone's cup of tea, from the other reviews I've read.) There's just so much that feels missing. The movement is slow. There's only 4 NPCs you talk with regularly, they are basically shops/inns, and they have only one dialog tree outside of events. There's no record or rewards for what you catch, so collecting beasts isn't a…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like this game, but unfortunately there were too many factors preventing me from giving this a thumbs up. Thank goodness I purchased this at one-third the price at a key shop. Beasties is a mash up of Pokémon and Puzzle Quest. It does a poor job of copying both. The positives are the graphics, which are top-notch and the music, but it does have a short loop. The cons are many... First off, each Beastie is assigned a strength and weakness. So, fighting enemies with certain beasties…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy creature collectors and match 3 games, but unfortunately, this game poorly executed both. The match 3 battles are only a few seconds long so you never even end up using your beastie abilities unless you happen to be facing many opponents at once. It's also a super short game. My recommendation is to wait for a bundle or at least a 60% off sale. They force you bounce around the map back and fourth to town to repair your tools, otherwise it would be even shorter. If this was an…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly I could see myself really getting into this game with just a few minor tweaks. The Match 3 battle system is interesting but can be completely broken and unbalanced depending on what gems spawn next. So an easy fight could end in you dying without having an attacking turn. Also as you need to match 3 target symbols to attack, if there aren't any and you get a combo of say 5 different matched gems (Say 2 blue, 1 red, 1 purple and 1 green) within a single move all you get is an extra turn…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was originally a backer for this on kickstarter. I was so excited about it that when the kcikstarter was canceled and it went on itch.io in beta, I bought it right away. I wish I hadn't... For one, the movement speed is so slow that I get aggravated around town, let alone the forest. Second, it's just meh. Like I was expecting something new. This is kinda like a very basic gems of war with a one-time purchase. I honestly doubt I'll ever finish this game which is extremely disappointing…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is a solid 5/10 pokemon-like game, with some Match3 mechanics. But the regional pricing that the publisher has set on this game is so egregious that it's insane. Also, the game hasn't received a single update since it launched (over 330days) which means that despite the fact that the game has issues, the devs just don't care to fix them or to make the game better... and if the devs don't care, then why should you?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a game, it's pretty fun. However, it seems only part of a bigger project. Especially since the blacksmith charges repairs for free---useful but seems like something should have happened for him to start charging (but never does when you become a 'master'). Would love to see what the game would have been if complete but, unfortunately, that's it. There isn't much for post-game either besides the side quests you skipped over, trying to catch Rank IV Beasties (honestly, I thought Rank III was…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute game, but very short. The description at the bottom of the store page does tell you what you're getting into. It starts a lil difficult/clunky until you start grabbing more monster elements, and I absolutely used a batterat through the final boss because it's ability was so good. Is this game worth 15$? probably not, but I just wanted to stream a game today that wouldn't be too intensive and make me worry about finishing it later. I honestly also felt a bit mentally better at the end.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →sad times, the game is great. but only max 4 hours of gameplay. about 40% of those hours are reading the story, so there is not must gameplay left. developers put all the effort in the visuals which looks great, but what does it matter if you can only enjoy 4 hours of it? replayability is nearly 0% except for capturing all monsters, or restart the game with using other monsters. but i dont find fun in that, because you cant massure your teamcomp against better fighters.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FULL GAMEPLAY WALKTHROUGH + ENDING - https://youtu.be/oZtkijNs6e0 Here is a Beastiepedia website for you to see all the beasties available in game - https://www.rokaplay.com/beasties/beastiepedia I really enjoyed my time with Beasties , its not your typical monster taming game where you just press a button to attack the opposite monster . You have to play a game like Candy Crush to Fill a meter for your beastie . Each beastie is associated with a colour so when you pop the gems of that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beasties – Monster Trainer Puzzle RPG, developed and published by rokaplay, is a colorful indie title that merges creature collecting with turn-based puzzle mechanics in a way that feels both nostalgic and refreshingly distinct. At first glance, it evokes the familiar structure of classic monster trainer games: you travel across a vibrant world, encounter fantastical creatures, build a team, and challenge other trainers. However, rather than replicating traditional turn-based combat systems,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Puzzle Quest, but with store brand Pokemons (and short... and basic... also poorly optimized) ts;wm If you're a fan of not so crowded sub-genre of match-3 RPG battlers, you might extract some joy out of 4-5 hours, required to finish this game, but it's very barebones in content, and the player avatar (I'm struggling to even call it a character - you just control a player card on a plastic stand) is hopping around very slowly - not an insignificant issue that can be partially ameliorated by…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After seeing some comments and reviews suggesting how this game seems to abruptly end, I thought I would go rummaging through the game's files. There is a Chapter 1 folder, which I could only speculate that additional chapters would've been included in the game at some point... probably as DLC. Then there is mention of a "shovel" that, for some reason, was never implemented. Because of these things and nothing new has been added or mentioned by the developers in more than 3 years, I am left…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love it and more funny, but the story is very short.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bro seriously? Every Random Encounter wipes out my whole team? Even Gems of War was more balanced than this game. And that's a free-to-play mobile/pc game. I had hopes for this game and now my wallet is filled with a regretful purchase.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: Nice music casual match 3 game, with some rpg elements. can play with 1 hand. Cons: Very short game. apparently I beat it in 4 hours so if that sounds so if that sounds worth it to you, go for it. no post game content. I would've liked random battles vs equally strong opponents, or like a tourney system could be cool. But there's nothing. Blowdart beastie has a bug where he sits on ur screen when he uses the ability. story doesn't really affect gameplay. They say feeding beasties makes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is fun. Has some things that could be added but definitely fun. Unless I missed something a home town teleport would be awesome. Would recommend if you're looking for a chill monster trainer / match 3 game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played it before and it was bad because I didn't understand how to fight and how to kill the monsters. Don't buy this game until the mechanics improve and they explain better how to fight the monsters, and if not, it's really bad.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beasties - Monster Trainer Puzzle RPG is a very weird game. It's not fun in any way, avoid. Not recommended
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its very slow paced and kind of clunky.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels unfinished and clunky. Not even all quest givers are on the map, keyboard stops working when starting the game, match 3 mechanic makes not much sense. Its just a bad game - im sorry.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →[url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/43083373/]Clever games curator review: 8/10 Short and fairly casual Match-3 RPG with strong Pokemon vibes. The majority of the game is spent in battles, where your matches decide whether or not you collect mana or attack using physical skills. Unless you can do a 4-in-a-row match you only get one turn and then the AI opponent makes a match on the same board. Thus, it’s important that your matches don’t set up your opponent for an even better turn…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow this game sucks! It lacks a proper tutorial so you're left guessing which I hate. The fights aren't entertaing but rather frustrating. If you're looking for fun, you won't find it here.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Veeeeeeeeryyyyy sloooooow mooooveeeemeeeeeent.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is great, if you know what you want. I was sick of 40+h games and find this one fresh experience. You can grab your Steam Deck, have fun for 20 min. and back to your duties ;)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is pokemon and candy crush made love its such a fun game I enjoyed it massively and I have it on steam and nintendo switch you should try it I had a blast :) https://store.steampowered.com/app/1592600/Beasties__Monster_Trainer_Puzzle_RPG/#
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy match 3 puzzles mixed with rpg elements, such as Hero Emblems 2 or Match Land, but this one is quite underwhelming. Thankfully I didn't spend much since it was in a bundle but after about a third of it, it feels very repetitive. I would much rather just play bejewelled for a more polished match 3 which is unfortunate since I had such high hopes for this game. I suppose my biggest complaint in this game is how it encourages you to not go for combos by going for a 3 match of a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cool game but very short. had potential to be a great game but devs didnt made any more updates since last year
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beasties is a match-3 puzzler, monster catching RPG-lite. Think Bejeweled, Puzzle Quest, and a bit of Pokémon. It’s a frustrating game in that its clear its had a lot of care put into its world, art and monster designs, yet whiffs the basics with really unsatisfying battle mechanics that pale in comparison to what Puzzle Quest or Gyromancer were doing a decade ago. A Bejewled style match-3 is a Bejeweled style match-3, but Puzzle Quest made things more interesting by giving you abilities that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so i tryed this game, went my first battle and lost. i never played it again
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Were you crazy about Pokémon? Feeling old now and prefer to play a casual game? Then play this game and catch them all!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →loved this game was so cute and the story was so gd :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly this needed a battle tutorial. I got into my first battle and got a big combo. Turn and found out enemies must have unlimited mp because now I can't attack. Got for my mother who watch one battle said to return. So I did.
