Operation Thunderstorm
Developer City Interactive S.A.
The year is 1942. The British government decides to launch one of the most risky operations of World War II. The targets are the most important figures of the Third Reich. After several months of research, MI6 chose three people: the chances of eliminating them are slim to nothing. From the Steam store page

It kept me playing for an entire day. No alt-tabbing. No checking my phone. Just me, glued to the screen. And I actually beat it. Which is saying something, because I own thousands of games and rarely finish any of them. But this one? I couldn’t stop. Not because it’s polished. Not because it’s some hidden masterpiece. But because it’s the…

unlabelledView post →I attempted to play the game and immediately liked the old-school feel of older war games in the WW2 setting. However, it appears that CI Games has turned off the 'saving' function. I noticed that when dying in-game on the first mission, I had to restart the mission because saving the game did not work. I also experienced this saving issue in CI Games' 'Royal Marine Commandos', where I could not also save and ultimately uninstalled the game after three play-through's. I have uninstalled the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If FEARs Alma is too scary and the battalions of AI soldiers too difficult for you, give Operation Thunderstorm a try. Cut from the same cloth as the aforementioned FEAR, both are using the LithTech Jupiter Ex Engine, which makes for some satisfying shooting excursions. However, that's everything these two titles have in common. OT was born in a time when people were already fed up with WW2 shooters and just before City Interactive started their re-branding, both in name and products, to move…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice mod for F.E.A.R. It's so amusing to see nazi behave and interact exactly like Paxton Fettel's replica soldiers It's a pity slow-mo wasn't included in this game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4.0/10 - Like shooting fish in a barrel For an old game, Operation Thunderstorm runs surprisingly poorly on a modern computer setup. Luckily, there are quite a lot of settings to play with, which allows you to minimize performance issues. The game contains many cool ideas that are poorly executed. Though it might appeal to some FPS connoisseurs who know what they are getting into, I cannot recommend it at the current full price of $4.50 (I would suggest waiting for a discount of at least…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Operation sh!tstorm! War themed FPS where you kill nazis. No reason to play stealthly - AI is bad enough to catch enemies easily by leaning half ass behind the cover. Levels are very narrow almost claustrophobic like and with no FOV to adjust it's a disaster. Environment destruction is marginal, most of the stuff doesn't break. Can't tell why but game have no gore so it's playable by kids pretty much. In one place everything explodes after shooting some guy, can't tell why. While playing main…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rather potato quality but if you want some old-school WW2 stealthy action get it for like 1 dollar/euro.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game takes F.E.A.R. (or at least the engine), removes bullet-time, removes good level design, and puts it in WW2. Playtime is under 2 hours, and in that time you murder Goebbels, Himmler, and Göring. The levels are copy-pasty, but distinct between the ~6 environments. Level design is good enough to keep you on track at a brisk pace, but not good enough to facilitate actually fun combat encounters. The enemies consist of about 3 different normal skins, and 3 bosses. Everyone goes down in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A short and fun game, that remind the first Call of Duty and Medal of Honor games. The story is weak, but the oldschool gameplay is still enjoyable. I'd still advise you to pick it up when it's on the $1 discount, as it's still a very short game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another so bad it's good game. Operation Thunderstorm is a simple fps game in the long list of budget games from developer City Interactive. It runs on the Jupiter EX engine also known from the FEAR games, meaning the combat is actually fun in this game because the shooting mechanics are similar to that of FEAR. You can finish the game within 2 hours so it's very short. In the guide section you can find an uncensored patch bringing back blood effects and certain symbols used during WWII.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice experience, reminds me of a dream that I had. While it wasn't all that good, I must say that the shooting is pretty good, the best engines for shooting games in my opinion are always the F.E.A.R engine and Source, seeing a singleplayer game on the F.E.A.R engine set in WW2 was already enough reason for me to try this game. The shooting is good, the ragdolls are amazing, the story and level design are average, this feels like either a passion project or one of those old shovelware movie…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished it under 4 hours, Satisfying firefights, straight to the point maps, no rewarding exploration whatsoever... It was fun. Old School fun. You know? Pew pew fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Operation Thunderstorm is a budget ww2 FPS that might not be for everyone. If you like ww2 shooters even if they are lacking in some parts, Thunderstorm might be for you. Thunderstorm is cheap and short - it took me about 2.1h to complete the game. Unless you are using the Russian or Polish language, the game will be cut and neither have blood nor nazi iconography. However, there is an uncut patch to make the game uncut for every language. pros + gunplay + propaganda posters + boss fights…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Operation Thunderstorm is a short, shallow but charming and relatively fun corridor-shooter that will leave MUCH to be desired. It's okay, but just okay for a couple hours of mindless entertainment peppering krauts through streets, bunkers and catacombs (which is about how long its going to take you to complete the entire game anyway.) It's got its fair share of jank considering its age, only enhancing the flavor of your off-brand dollar general WW2 FPS experience. Your roster of weapons is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was recommended by Steam randomly, and it was on sale for less than a dollar so I bought it for ♥♥♥♥♥ and giggles. The campaign was only 70-80 minutes long and there's really no notable moments or mechanics. The positive is this game uses the same engine as the original FEAR. So the guns feel punchy and the particle effects look great. The shader, gritty textures and soundtracks make the game feels atmospheric more than it is. The main character is insufferable though. One of the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Operation Thunderstorm fast game with modern day graphics with easy controls that moves from location A to B to C and so on, good amount of action and special effects, good game. Personal Suggested Purchase Price: $0.99 Or Less During Sale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its just F.E.A.R WW2
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tiembla Call of Duty
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the nazi iconograchy is censored this is the only reason i will refound this game because its censored
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is weak, but the gameplay slaps. It’s fun, a little janky on modern systems, and that roughness gives it a certain charm. Surprisingly, this is the 4th game in the series (known in Poland as Mortyr 4: Operation Thunderstorm), which introduced me to earlier titles I never knew about. It’s short, around 3 hours, but worth it if you’ve got a bit of spare time and cash.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mediocre all around clone of older Call of Duty/Medal of Honor games coming in package with dead multiplayer and two and a half hours long campaign. I would not recommend it if it was just that, but the fact that it's made on the same engine as F.E.A.R. actually makes combat somewhat hilarious: with ragdolls flying everywhere and guns feeling pretty good. It also goes on sale for a dollar. Which is arguably the best thing about this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For 99 cents you could do a lot worse
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game goes on sale for $0.99. It's 2 hours of nazi killing fun as you hunt down Gerbils, Heimlich, and Voring. It's from 2008 so it plays like a mediocre CoD or MoH clone but all it took to get running was running the setup file, setting the right resolution and turning v-sync on. It's fun and absolutely worth $1.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically, this is F.E.A.R. on World War II. If you liked F.E.A.R. and its engine you'll feel right at home. Comes with all benefits that title at the time, such as advanced AI for its day. Can't go wrong!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is pretty fun. i am glad it is now on steam, it takes me back to the days when fps games were decent. 7/10 Get in on sale Not bad, the stealth could be better .
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very short, not too difficult, oldschool WW2 shooter. Not bad, just unremarkable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another slightly janky but functional low-budget WW2 shooter from City Interactive. Don't go in to this expecting anything amazing or groundbreaking, but if you do like WW2 FPS games then this is another one worth checking out if you just want something short to kill off a couple of hours. Link to my Youtube play-through for anyone wanting to see a sample of gameplay before buying: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOm6s9fP0Eg&list=PL05Yc3_TEBpN9Ai8PmDG8eOfB504nCUow
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a short and sweet single player WW2 game similar to Medal of Honor, but it runs on the same engine as F.E.A.R. so the gameplay feels very close to F.E.A.R. The playtime I have on it is literally how long it took me to beat the game, so when I say it's short, it's short. I recommend it on a sale, because it's a cool novelty to play F.E.A.R. but WW2, and it's just a neat part of gaming history.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a budget WWII FPS, this was a solid game that honestly took me by surprise. Even for it's year the graphics are pretty dated, even compared to Call of Duty 3 which came out two years prior, but it has heart. Giving an authentic old-school shooter experience similar to that of the early Medal of Honor titles. Campaign mode is short, clocking in at just around the three hour mark. So if you find yourself with some free time after work, school, or on the weekend, this is a perfect…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very simple hallway shooter, some funk here and there. I paid 89¢ good simple fun. Works great on Steamdeck
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely Fantastic game it was a blast to play and I recommend it to anyone who loves shooting nazis for a past time
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So Pros: First off its got some weirdly amazing enemy animations like enemies running away while behind them firing at you, enemies knocking over objects to hid behind for cover, enemies rushing you for melee if you are close to them, enemies rolling out of cover and shooting at you. - The Kar98 has some of the best bolt cycling that I've ever seen in games. - The StG44 is amazing best gun in the game. - The use of and to look from cover is amazing. - I got is on sale for under $1 USD.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Every now and then I get a hankering for some Eurojank and this hit all the right spots. Operation Thunderstorm is a goofy, but endearing little game that in true Eurojank fashion has more ambition than it does budget, but it's heart is in the right place and it makes for a nice short weekend game. I've seen a lot of comparisons to F.E.A.R. presumably because of the engine (which uses Monolith's JupiterEX) and the fact that you can lean, but really the focus on a single Allied soldier deep…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game lasts 2 hours, it's extremely B-grade, has hideous voice acting, and the game is old. If this were to be rated by IGN even back in 2011 (which I guess is the year it released based on the Steam page), this would've gotten a 4/10. So you must be wondering why the **** anybody would buy this game. Well, I enjoyed what I played for a dollar I paid. Now if you're even looking at this game, and even had a remote interest to even read my review about it, you probably are interested in a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok, so cards on the table when I say that I'm a fan of old, cheesy FPS games and I'm basing my review on this niche predilection. And boy does this feel old and cheesy. Graphics (made using the Lithtech Jupiter EX engine which the far superior F.E.A.R. also used) and sound are 'functional' to good, for a game of its age, in so much as you can tell whats going on and what they are meant to represent but don't expect Doom here. Even on its release it was really just a budget, low quality time…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good old school WW2 shooter, very linear and short, 3-4 hours. It's definitely worth a play through if you enjoyed some of the old WW2 shooters. This reminds me of the old PS1 MOH games. Nothing fancy just kill Nazi's. You can snag it for a $1 on sale too. No tweaks necessary but I did adjust the FOV using the instructions from PCGAMINGWIKI
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4/10, this game is kinda boring and janky, but it has it's moments. I wish steam had mixed reviews... The story is uninteresting, the voice acting is lacking and the gameplay is very unpolished. This game has a lot of dull corridors and lame enemies. You have 2 variants of enemies, the MP40 one and the Kar one, THAT'S IT (they sometimes throw grenades at you to spice up the combat). Also, it has small glitches everywhere, from ragdolls not working, to clipping of the map while climbing a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →at least two reviews liken this to fear and i think they might have brain damage but it was a pretty good 2/5 game, now if you'll excuse me, its time for me to get back to being a single loser
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if u want to play this game for the nostalgia go for it, its probably gonna make u remember the good old times. but if u just seen this game and thinking about buying it then i would not recommend it, heres why: -gun play sucks, theres only like 6 guns -u have to lock ur fps or its unplayable -really short (finished the whole game in 100mins) -really easy every enemy dies in 1-2 shots (atleast on normal difficulty) -u can easily see outside the map without even doing anything unintended -bland…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an alright game still better than the past COD releases...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An old and cheaply made FPS from over a decade ago. Story is weak, main character is pretty lame, not a lot of weapon variety, however they're using the game engine from the original FEAR so in spite of the jank the gunplay is pretty compelling. Combine that with the fact that I got the game on sale for a dollar makes this just barely a positive recommendation for me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprisingly good but very short WW2 shooter. It uses the same engine as the original F.E.A.R so the shooting is pretty enjoyable with blood sprays, particle effects and smoke filling the screen during gunfights. I even recognised the German soldiers use some of the exact same animations as the enemies in F.E.A.R like flipping over tables to make cover or running away while shooting at me. I finished the game on medium difficulty in 2 hours so it's really short but it only cost me £0.85p which…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is from 2009... and even in 2009 it wasnt the 3xA game it was like the action B type of game. After Plaing this in 2023, its playable. Max difficulty game me about 2 hours of gameplay. Every enemy can die by 1 or 2 bullets chest up. The game still works. Story is "not good" Weapons feel OK Somehow i got a lot of motion sickness (headbob off) All max settings.(144hz cap) no gameplay problems with high FPS. I had some lvl of fun. Would not recomend to anyone who looking for OG CoD…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short game, but for like 1.99, i'll take it. The game is jank in several ways and stealth is busted. Even though they give you weapons for stealth at the start of the every level, stealth is not much of an option because you'll shortly be going loud throughout the entire game anyway. The cut-scenes were eh and don't really give you much information other than what you're gonna be doing in that level. The weapons are very little variety and allows you to hold 4 at a time with a 10 max steil-hand…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is actually how World War 2 happened. 10/10 great prequel to F.E.A.R
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Typical Century Old Scool WW2 FPS. Decent story Single Player. Very playable, with Old School GFX. If you like games of the 2K era (COD, MOHAA) then OK. I have bought a few Century Games now, which I do enjoy playing. They are cheap and cheerful, and the way to spend a few hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A bit of mindless badguy shooting in a WW2 setting. Mow them down with a supressed Sten SMG,MP-40,STG44,scoped and unscoped Kar-98k. The knife is practically useless because the moment the first enemy dies, everyone will be aware of you,so don't bother with stealth. Thankfully the gunplay is pretty decent,so that shouldn't be a problem. You also get a Luger which is hillariously OP,it's got a 15(!) round mag compared to the 8 that the IRL version has,and close to mid range it usually oneshots…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game isn't much at all. world feels empty, aiming is not accurate (don't bother to aim), mission just so so. but it's good just to kill time. it's even less than 3 hour and i've finished. only 4 main mission (with some level in each mission). too bad there's no achievement. don't bother to buy it, even when it's on sale, get it from bundles instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good fun for an older game. The map layouts are good considering the age, and the short campaign has great ragdoll physics and gun mechanics. Worth a playthrough if you grew up with medal of honor and old school CoD, the sounds alone are a nostalgia trip
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Operation Thunderstorm is another older WW2 game that I actually enjoyed more than I expected. The game is old and you can obviously see that from the graphics and animations, but honestly I don't really mind these things. It runs really smooth and for me the gameplay was simple but fun. The story takes place in 1942 and you play as an MI6 secret agent sent into enemy territory. Your main targets are some of the most important people of the Third Reich like Goebbels, Himmler and Göring. You…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would say this game feels like Return To Castle Wolfenstein, but with better visual and graphic. It's a pretty decent game I would say, though controls and character movement are a bit junky, but still pretty much an alright classic game.
