43 of 43 · most liked firstWOW!!! This is the most incredible surprise I’ve had in recent gaming memory. I am blown away. Notmads caught my eye when I was combing through upcoming releases. “The Beast” creature in the game stood out as one of the most wondrous animal designs I’ve ever seen (and he reminds me of our Mister Shaggy, who crossed the Rainbow Bridge in 2021). I started digging into the game’s discussion boards and the dev’s YouTube channel and was so impressed by this solo dev’s ambition and KINDNESS.…

Ran into a few graphical issues more comical than bad. I will keep the game in the hopes it improves the combat but for now it's a thumbs down. 5.5/10

It’s been great to see how much it has evolved, even compared to the demo I tried during Next Fest. I especially love how large the world feels, it’s easy to lose yourself exploring alongside your pet. I also really enjoy the visual style, and I’d like to give a special mention to the soundtrack. The background music creates a very pleasant atmosphere throughout the experience. One of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly incredible for a solo dev project. Notmads has a killer concept: you're a spellcaster building a base directly on the back of a giant, cute, fluffy (and killer) creature that walks around with you. It’s in Early Access, so it obviously needs some polish, but the sheer amount of features the solo developer has already packed into this is awesome. The Good stuff: Fun RPG loop: You find a variety of spell tomes that change your playstyle, and they actually level up and get stronger…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Purchased within an hour of release. I've played for 4 hours and still can't build a base with animals. I've played for 4 hours and haven't done any crafting yet. Where am I supposed to go and what am I supposed to do? There's no information at all. It may seem like freedom, but it feels restrictive. The road to getting to the selling points of a game developer is far too long. If you're someone who doesn't mind waiting 5 hours after ordering food because you're hungry, then this is a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Me and my girlfriend started playing it yesterday and had some fun with it. We encountered some bugs but it was still enjoyable. I think the game has some potential esspecially with the combat being easy. The skillprogression looks promising as well but tlets see where it goes. I hope its gonna be possible casting some crazy spells later on. Some feedback: 1. It got a bit frustrating when multiple quests seemed to have the same goal but quest markers where not properly showing where we had to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A whole lot of fun, a couple friends and I got it while we were at work, then opened it up and streamed it to twitch. Had a lot of fun playing and learning the game. Before we realized it, 8 hours passed and we all passed out shortly there after. Wishing I didnt have over commitments so I could play more! Also all hail the vigor bonk mode!

unlabelledView post →We ended up playing for 7 hours straight on our very first session because the game constantly pushes you into doing “just one more thing.” Honestly, Notmads has a TON of potential. It starts a bit slow, but once it picks up, it builds momentum naturally and never really feels boring. The gameplay loop is ridiculously addictive. You’re constantly running around harvesting materials with this magical beam tool, leveling up your character, your creature, and upgrading the beam itself. There’s…

unlabelledView post →This game is rough around the edges. Definitely needs some work on the combat it's not very good. But overall a good experience so far.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I honestly didn’t expect to get hooked this quickly, but Notmads ended up being one of the best new games I’ve played in a long time. The game does a really good job teaching you its mechanics without feeling hand-holdy. The combat and the controls are easy to pick up, and the challenges stay fun instead of becoming frustrating. Every time we figured something out or finally beat a difficult section, it felt genuinely rewarding. I also played it with friends, and that made the experience even…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun and entertaining game, with a very eye-catching premise: building your base on top of a creature that you have to take care of and will level up. The game offers a fairly wide amount of freedom, where you can steal and interact with the town NPCs. With the time I've played, I can say I haven't found any major bugs or anything that breaks the game, just a few visual ones that don't affect gameplay at all. Plus, I played it with friends in co-op and it worked great, no stutters or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's really wonderful! For me the best way to play it is online-coop with friendly fire, it adds a little bit of complexity. It's really fun to play with friends and it also includes a sandbox mode ready to make your buildings and raid everywhere you want! I love the loot when killing enemies, I've been playing a couple of new games and every game feels diferent depending on what the enemies drop to you, making you to adopt diferent roles and playing modes. The narrative is quite…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, well, well... what an absolute hidden gem I’ve discovered here! Is it perfect? Not quite yet, but let me be completely clear: it's an Alpha (please read the tags before buying!), and it is already a wonderfully developed and fantastic experience. I’ve played a lot of games over the years—Pre-releases, Alphas, Betas, Community Tests, you name it. But this one has something truly special. It might not be the massive AAA game you're looking for, but what it delivers is phenomenal. First…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game won't let me claim empty plot so that's cool. the screen shaking when the beast walks needs to go.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mobile base is fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly a great game heaps of potential, the only things I have really found frustrating is the pathfinding of the beast when you give it directions on the map the poor thing can't work out it's lefts and rights sometimes and that in build mode it doesn't link to your storage chests nor can you access your stroage chests while in build mode, having to swap back if I run out of a resource just to go into a chest grab one thing then swap back into build mode for someone that enjoys building and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this kind of game and the reviews made me buy it ,but in my opinion theres a lot wrong. its all stuff that can be fixed in upgrades i hope but its not what i expected Maybe i will try again but for now, for me its not worth the money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A brilliant concept with incredible dev support! I had the chance to play it in early alpha and now in EA. What instantly hooked me about Notmads is the unique twist it brings to the rpg and building genre: instead of setting up a static shelter, you build your entire base right on the back of a massive, wandering beast. This "living, mobile base" dynamic completely changes how you approach the game and feels incredibly fresh. For an Early Access title, it runs smoothly and functions…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really original game. I honestly don’t understand some of the complaints in other reviews about “not being able to build on the beast” because if you actually play 1-2h, you get there pretty naturally.. The game even pushes you toward that point during the first few hours. I also saw the developer quickly updated the game and added a sandbox mode where you can just build freely. Not really my type of mode personally, but I can see why people who only want to build on the creature without the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →amazing game, fun and in depth combat, a fascinating build system, an amazing perk tree, and best of all is your own little buddy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's a long way for Notmads to become a great game. It a little janky, but the solo developer of the game is working really hard to make this game a better experience. I had a lot of fun playing it in its current state and I can't wait to see how this game will change over the next few months! You can play it solo or with friends, which is a nice option. If you like big, furry beasts and you enjoy indie games, you can totally check it out!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Add a targeting system for spells? Or make hit box bigger. It feels terrible to cast magic. Still had a lot of fun playing so far, and plan to play more soon.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →love it so much
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After 2 hours: Great game so far. Controls are a little "Fast". Feels like I'm always running. Needed to turn down mouse sensitivity. Combat feels like elder scrolls combat. You kind of need to pick up every healing potion you come across, as soon as you find a group of baddies, they're all on you almost immediately, the health bar goes down fast, hotbar those potions right away. The beast is super cute. The house building is neat. The hole in the floor is annoying I can't wait to be allowed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good game, has a a lot of potential
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have not played much, looks promising so far. Felt a bit clunky, here and there, but that is to be expected for an EA title, nevermind a two man team. So I can look past that easily. What sold me was the devs responsiveness to reviews, positive and negative. The effort and love going into the game is what shines for me at the moment. Can feel the devs are making a game they want to play themselves. Keep it up guys :) Always find it funny that people who are not devs want to tell people who…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just finished the current content, was fun to play, excited to see this games progress.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great performance. Settings automatically configured according to hardware properly, with motion blur disabled by default. The game is engaging and fun. Multiplayer mode is hilarious!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do not normally leave reviews, but I enjoyed a lot playing with friends, the co-op is a big win. I think it has a lot of potential. Really looking forward to the next updates.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lots of potential
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The makings of greatness are there, but it is indeed early access.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We were honestly surprised and had a lot of fun! Looking forward to the developement. Was a unique gaming experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game that really brings back the feeling of old rpg games. It is early access so there's limited area and things so do. The latest patch reset out game removing the beast, our house, and magical beam. Will love to come back once it's out of early access and fleshed out with more intricacies. Would love to see being able to rest, cook more stuff, and more spells.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →like it so far ... its very buggy thou but loves the concept :) keep it up!! cant wait for the full release
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolute fever dream of a game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're looking for an adventure experience with a magic-based combat system, building, and exploration, Notmads offers just that. And let's not forget its mobile home system, which brings a fresh twist to the genre. However, it's true that gameplay systems like combat, the passive skill tree, and progression need refinement. Despite being in Early Access, the game receives updates almost daily, polishing and adjusting its content based on community feedback.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game for what they give you. You can tell they've spent a long time creating this and hopefully this game goes viral so more people experience it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recently got Notmads and I'm loving it. Zapping enemies with my mage is something that really doesn't get old. It's also great to have the Beast helping the party out and I look forward to customising my moving fortress. Highly recommended game, especially if you love playing coop.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I dove into the game not knowing what to expect with it, but I was pleasantly surprised. The game has some creative concepts that are a lot of fun. That said, there are a few issues the developer absolutely needs to hammer out to make Early Access more viable to everyone. 1: There are parts of the game where the tutorial aspects are not clear and don't really tell you what to do. One example is when you use the harvesting beam for the first time. 2: If you upgrade your core too much…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yes, this might be unusual. -so-so graphics -the combat is like something out of the 2000s BUT I felt like I was immersed in a good old dungeon crawler. Pleasant music, a funny story, dialogues, quests. Just clearing a dungeon with a friend was amazing! And new mechanics too! Price is a bit high, perhaps. But definitely a thumbs up.
