unlabelledView post →Has been a while, but finally went to the local board game store in my town and played some games. Highlight of the day was Mystic Vale, a literal deck building game where you get to craft your own cards #boardgames
unlabelledView post →New game played! Ruins from @allplay.bsky.social games. Designed by John D. Clair, the amazing designer of Mystic Vale. Had a fun time with this one. A fairly simple card shedding game but the cards can be upgraded to improve your hand ultimately helping you to score more points. #boardgames

They measure 68mm x 120mm in size and have a 3mm radius corner, which is exactly the same as cards used in games like Mystic Vale. Details: www.thegamecrafter.com/make/product...
unlabelledView post →Played our first game of Dead Reckoning, one of the card crafting games from AEG. We are big fans of Mystic Vale but we didn't like Edge of Darkness. This one could be a bit mean if you attack each other but we both avoided that - there are also merchant ships you can attack. I liked it.
unlabelledView post →I just finished my first game of John D. Clair's Unstoppable (a one- or two-player deckbuilding game). It's fantastic, and a worthy addition to his portfolio (Mystic Vale, Edge of Darkness, Dead Reckoning, and more). It so happens there's a DCC edition coming alongside a TTRPG.

This game mirrors my own world—nurturing seeds into flourishing forests without it Misfit Heroes would not have card crafting. www.kickstarter.com/projects/ald...

unlabelledView post →FINALLY picked up two expansions for Mystic Vale, the John D Clair card crafting game. Forgot that I had to remove the plastic protectors from every card, and I also didn’t realize I’d never done it with my base game. That was two hours of tedious peeling.
unlabelledView post →If you're like me, you like the idea of Magic: The Gathering, but don't want to end up selling your kidneys to line the addiction peddler's profiteering pockets. Mystic Vale is a card battle game where you craft your own cards by sleeving unique aspects. Great crunchy nerdy fun.

I'm glad to see it there so many times, because it's a sign to me that it's a hobby game with mainstream appeal. I would've bought Mystic Vale. But I have a hard limit on how much I spend there. They listed it for $16!
unlabelledView post →Why do the games that have the badges I want the most on my Steam profile have to have such EXPENSIVE FOILS?! Final Fantasy 1, Cuisineer and Mystic Vale all have foil badges I desperately want but cost the price of a full game to complete! T_T T_T T_T

unlabelledView post →82 of my top 100 #boardgames: Mystic Vale! I LOVE the card-crafting system; it keeps every play unique and offers a ton of strategy options. The major drawback is that it can be time consuming to choose from the cards available to purchase - the game is a table hog and there is a lot of text.
unlabelledView post →Mystic Vale: Essential Edition (Base Game) — push-your-luck deckbuilder where you upgrade your deck by layering transparent cards into sleeves. we've played this game a bunch with different expansions, but even without the bells & whistles, this is still the best deckbuilder ever made.
unlabelledView post →I play a ton of board game apps and Mystic Vale has become my absolute favorite. I am sure the physical game is so beautiful! But I fear the amount of tear-down would keep me from getting it to the table frequently. In the app, it’s all automatic 💕

unlabelledView post →There are a handful of games where it feels the base game was stripped of it's first expansion to make a better product out of the base game. Mystic Vale comes to mind.

Our first game with John was Mystic Vale and this game is the evolution of that game and card crafting in every way. unlabelledView post →Then my other friend arrived & we ended up connecting with a lovely group of folks who I’m sure I’ll be playing with more moving forward! Now with 4 we played Mystic Vale. It’s a John Clair game. We played it with 2 expansions. I dug it quite a bit even though I lost terribly on my first game.

It's a cross-over strategy videogame of boardgame partners' IP like Paizo's Pathfinder, Stonemaier, AEG's Mystic Vale, Druid City, Grey Fox Champions of Midgard, North Star, and more partners coming soon.
unlabelledView post →That is the wonderful game that brought us and John D. Clair together. This design came before Mystic Vale but we published Mystic first because it explained how card crafting worked. Edge is expert level crafting for sure.
unlabelledView post →Mystic Vale was my second John D. Clair game (first Edge of Darkness) he showed it to me in a coffeeshop on a tiny table and absolutely crushed me I never stood a chance, but the card crafting magic was undeniable. Still one of the most innovative designs I’ve seen #DingDing

Have you played all of www.direwolfdigital.com/games/ ? They’re the best company in this business (but they didn’t do Mystic Vale, the best iOS card game.)
