Uses the Modiphius D6 system (as in Mutant Year Zero) adapted well to the setting. A really solid-feeling game.

unlabelledView post →Some old background art I made for my RPG livestream. The game was Mutant Year Zero, a post-apocalyptic setup where mutants try to survive. The first one was for an expansion of the game called Genlab Alpha and has a more wild nature theme. #ttrpg #rpg #photomanipulation #photoshop #art #BrArt
unlabelledView post →Also out today (also in early access) is Every Day We Fight. A story-heavy tactics game (think XCom + Mutant Year Zero but with Valkyria Chronicles-style manual aiming) and some time-looping roguey stuff going on. Got sent an early key but I'm barely past the tutorial thanks to an enormous backlog.

unlabelledView post →I ran a season of Free League games on #TheRaspyRaven I'm not doing it again 😁 but it was a lot of fun. We covered all the releases. I was surprised how much I enjoyed running Mutant Year Zero but the highlight was @paulbaldowski.bsky.social running Symbaroum, well creepy. The game, not Paul 😉

unlabelledView post →Champions 4th Edition, then GURPS 3e Revised. I very much liked the FFG Star Wars game with the custom dice, but none of my players did, so... Most recently, I've dabbled with Forged in the Dark games and Mutant Year Zero.
unlabelledView post →In other RPG news, I'm going through old bundles and Mutant Year Zero is pretty good, isn't it? Like, boo to custom dice and cards, but I like the focus on community building. I think I'd previously dismissed it in a fit of hipster pique because too many people said it was a good game.

unlabelledView post →I did the layout for Mutant: Year Zero, based on the Swedish version of the game. And I got to ride on Free League’s coat-tails until they had so much work for me that I could quit my day job and layout TTRPGs full time. I am most grateful for that – and this game will always be special to me. 2/2
unlabelledView post →Maybe not a hot take, but... People need to talk about the AA games that aim high and stumble more. I will absolutely sing the praises of a AA game that has spirit behind it over mass-market slop. I'm talking cult classics like Mutant Year Zero, Alpha Protocol, or the Little Tail Bronx series.
unlabelledView post →The system is quite involved, built on the same core familiar from Mutant: Year Zero but with a lot of detail for tactical gameplay. The combat is some of the most complex I've seen in any modern roleplaying game, almost on the level of some of the more complicated 80's games.

unlabelledView post →Some games fail at certain tables because it doesn’t click with the preferences and experience of the players. Mutant Year Zero is a great game but, as a GM, I find exploration of areas uninteresting. I stopped having fun with it. It’d be useful if there was an easy way for players/GMs to know

unlabelledView post →For the past 25 years, my oldest friends and I meet at a house in the woods for 4 days of RPGs. This year I’m running Mutant: Year Zero. If it goes to plan it may end with a PvP session of the associated MY0: Zone Wars miniatures game. Played a practice game this morning to pin down the rules.

unlabelledView post →This is scarily true. First experience playing a TTRPG was "The Dark Eye" (a very crunchy, German game) in the 90s and it was basically a big "Yike". Would never recommend to start with! I'd probably suggest "Into the Odd", pbta or Mutant Year Zero engine games (Dragonbane f.e) as recommendation.

unlabelledView post →Depends on the vibe of the game, for me. OSR/zine game? Sure, give me just 5 bullet points! Other games though? Nah. For instance the half dozen pages of metaplot in Mutant Year Zero are great, basically a “campaign seed”. Or a 250 pages campaign! I like all kinds of things!

I was trying the new game from the Mutant Year Zero team recently & after playing the same small map 4X because of the timeloop, I realized it was no different than reloading a save. repeat activity x number of times till the solution appears-
unlabelledView post →Sorry, Year Zero Engine. It’s the system that Free League developed, beginning with Mutant Year Zero. It’s used in a lot of their games. It’s a D6 dice pool system (with a stepped dice variant they used for Blade Runner). Vaesen is my favourite game but all their games are excellent.
unlabelledView post →Mutant Year Zero is the most modern of all of these system. I really like the Year Zero engine. Free League uses in their other game lines like Alien, Tales from the Loop, and Coriolis. I've played Alien and love it. I can't speak for the setting, but MYZ might be best option of the bunch.
unlabelledView post →No idea if you know this game, but brings nice thoughts of Mutant Year Zero.
unlabelledView post →I liked Mutant Year Zero. I am also enjoying playing Fallout though the GM has deviated so far from RAW that I might just be enjoying their additions rather than the actual game. The combat is pretty much as written though and that's fun. Not really played anything really gonzo like Gamma World.
unlabelledView post →I think this is the part of the game where we start exclusively fighting massive mutant hordes and turbo death robots. It's fine. Mutant: Year Zero! twitch.tv/tentacle_panther

unlabelledView post →Been running some friends through a game of Mutant Year Zero. It's an interesting game. Rules are "easy" but there are a lot of bits and bobs to keep track of. Low prep which is nice for me, but at the same time, a lot of the rules to keep track of makes it challenging. Friends seem to be having fun
unlabelledView post →I’ve been a huge fan of the year zero engine since I first bought Mutant Year Zero about 9 years ago. I have all the MYZ books, Blade Runner and Forbidden Lands (a game I would have played if Dragonbane hadn’t come out 😂)
unlabelledView post →One Ring 2E. If I can’t find a game I’ll run one. Black Star and Mutant Year Zero are also in my play/run list for 2025.
unlabelledView post →A game I'm dying to get to the table is Mutant Year Zero. I picked GenLab Alpha because of the cute mutant animals, but I'd love to run or play in any of the MYZ games.
unlabelledView post →Need more game recs like XCOM, Shadow Gambit, Mario + Rabbids, Mutant Year Zero etc... Real-time or turn-based tactics stuff basically. I am eating this genre up and need new things to play!
unlabelledView post →@Mycomancer I've started a bi-weekly #Ironsworn game that plays online at work. I'm really looking forward to introducing it to a group of players completely new to the system who have never played a #PbtA style game. I can't wait to get back to my home group's #MutantYearZero #GenLabAlpha game. I'm currently learning #SwordsOfTheSerpentine and hope to run a couple of games over the summer. I'd also like to run #MonsterOfTheWeek for my daughters.
unlabelledView post →I keep saying this and I'll say it again. Everyone should at least once in their TTRPG life experience Mutant Year Zero. ESPECIALLY GMs I think it's a beautiful example of just letting a game happen organically, with minimal rule interference and no railroading. The game just happens, it flows
