Technical stuff like no mouse sensitivity is just not ok. Especially when MYZ had it. Games buggy in general. Like when you wanna reposition one character, but when you leave cover, everyone just teleports to you? So you have to reposition everyone. The story is cliché to the point it's mostly just cringe-fest levels.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First of all, huge thanks to my friend 💖Scummy Christ💖 for gifting me this game. Otherwise, I probably wouldn't have gone out of my way to play such a relatively niche title. To my surprise, Miasma Chronicles ended up being a genuinely enjoyable experience, and I think that's largely because of how well it balances real-time stealth with turn-based combat. In many tactical RPGs, combat begins the moment you enter an enemy's detection range. Here, however, you're free to scout ahead and plan…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was looking for something similar to Mutant Year Zero, and this seemed to be exactly what I wanted. Miasma Chronicles is really close to MYZ, but much, much bigger. I'd say the world is three times bigger, give or take. I really enjoyed it, but in many ways it takes some annoying parts from MYZ and builds upon them, making the game quite frustrating. While it keeps similar gameplay mechanics that are neither overly complex nor too simplistic, it also retains the same high-risk combat…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is going to seem like a really odd critique; but I absolutely hate the main character. Seems like they were trying to go for that 'Starlord' type vibe, which I think is just annoying. The story is also just uninteresting, which is wild, because this honestly should be a slam dunk. The issue is, I just couldn't convince myself to care about the story or the characters. The game functions well, and I never saw any bugs, so at least it appears to be competently built. 6/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review is quite difficult. The game has the basic standard tactical strategy print with % to hit and squared maps during combat, otherwise free to roam. The mechanics are similar to the previous game of these develpoers (Mutant Year Zero), that I enjoyed so much that I was enthusiast to finally play their newer game, so why the negative review? Because the script, the story, the characters and the voice acting are simply painful. Beware, the lore of the game is intriguing, I was actively…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4.5/10 the difficulty of this game is all over the place flip flopping from 1 hitting goons to needing all 3 people to take down one in two turns. + story + voice acting + tiny micro story bits people yell out as you pass that add to the ambience. - other parts of the story - ambush system in place kills this game for me cause you cant win combat unless you widdle down the forces first soo your gonna be reloading and saving a lot every time you trigger combat by mistake - oooh i need ot sneak…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR: Compared to their earlier game, Mutant Year Zero: Road to Eden (MYZ:RtE), it's bigger, prettier, and WAY WORSE in terms of gameplay and balance. MYZ:RtE was one of the best and most interesting tactical games I've ever played. By keeping a small squad size, adding large groups of enemies but also suppressed weapons & ambush mechanics (not overwatch), character skills with turn-based cooldowns, and guaranteed shots when flanking, MYZ:RtE balance relied on paying attention to the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The controls and UI for this game is clunky and the NPC dialog is insufferable. It would probably be an ok game if it weren't for that.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I saw this game covered on a YT channel about tactical games many may have missed. It looked interesting and was on sale. I was pleasantly surprised by this game. Though the campaign is short and the story predictable, the universe it created was beautiful to play in and the dialogue was not bad at all. In terms of gameplay, the tactics reward movement and you are limited to a squad of three. When I got new companions to switch out, none of them really felt like ones I wanted to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Did I bounce off of "Miasma" after a little while? Yes. Do I think you should try it? Also yes. Some really nifty worldbuilding got done on this one, especially in the realm of "What would the mythology of America about itself be in a post-apocalyptic setting?" It's a different take on that in relationship to, say, "Fallout." I also really liked the idea of a realtime stealth component that layers over the entry to turn-based engagements. What made me put the game down was the economy.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An incredible crash simulator! Thousands of ways to crash, all different, all fascinating. Will the game crash due to an Unreal Engine error? Or will you have to force it to shut down because a character is stuck? And the best part is that this game is honestly interesting despite its flaws, making you want to persevere through the barrage of bugs that hit the player head-on. I tried to stick with it, but I can't take it anymore. Fifth time I start the same encounter. Avoid at all costs.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I quite enjoyed this. It looks good, the story while simple was sufficient (though the bit towards the end is silly), there could be more gear/loot/skills, but the gameplay loop was fun enough for the experience. The voice actors for two of your companions makes me want to smash my head in. The robot in particular and you can't swap him out for someone else. So annoying. There also is a really frustrating bug (or really bad game feature) when setting up ambushes. It is absurd and obnoxious.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a masterpiece in my opinion. It features an interesting and timely story, very good combat mechanics, progression, and balanced abilities... I hope the creators will produce many more games like this!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been sitting on the fence for a long time, thinking whether to give a positive or negative review to Miasma Chronicles. Having installed and uninstalled the game many times over the past couple of years, I find that Miasma has some positive traits, however they don't redeem the bad to warrant me to recommend this title. First of all, world of the game is iteresting. The whole titular Miasma force, the post-apocalyptic theme and an interesting, albeit somewhat limited assortment of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Miasma Chronicles is a perfectly serviceable game with a lengthy campaign that reasonably supports its modestly high asking price. Unfortunately, that campaign often feels far longer than it should, largely because its narrative and dialogue fail to build a meaningful connection between the player and the characters. This is a significant shortcoming for a game that presents itself as an RPG. Strong voice performances occasionally threaten to lift the storytelling, but never quite succeed in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked this game a lot! ... Until near the end where suddenly the balance, writing and difficulty jumped around like a ping pong ball in a paint mixer. I haven't had such a case of enjoyment turn around since the ending of Mass Effect 3. I assume they ran out of money but man I can't recommend the game just for the ending arc. I assume they ran out of money? Its pretty polished though I have no idea.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty much a copy of the previous game of the same devs, but in different settings. The game is good, especially for fans of tactical games with RPG elements. It has nice atmosphere and an interesting story, but lacks certain elements. Exploration is rather symbolic, weapons variety limited, and you can fight with only three members of your squad at once, which was a dealbreaker for me. Your characters' skills are often not very useful and you can't master them to dominate a battlefield. There…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game is ok, like 6/10, so why thumb down? Devs had here a nice base for a game, they could do everything, and they decide to f*ck it up. Its subjective, starting what i really disliked. Main character voice makes me want to cut myself, really, so whining character, and not only its attitude, but voice. Terrible decision with that one, every other voiced character is way better than that one, yet you will hear protagonist way more often. Mama that that Elvis was looking for is dumb as... you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worth a play if you like turn based tactics games. Not amazing, but solid. I only got about a third thru.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to love this game, but the more I played the more I grown to... cringe from it's existence. At the very beginning, I was like "how could a game this polished have completely flown under the radar?" The graphics are good, the story is engaging at first, the mechanics are seem to be well made. But the deeper you get in the game, the more rot comes to the surface and you realise, that they were probably either running out of time or funds as they progressed deeper in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you have played Mutant: Year Zero Road to Eden/Seed of Evil and you like them, then this game will be fantastic for you. It is basically the same gameplay with better graphics and story/plot as well as an interactive hub town. If you have not played Mutant Year Zero, you will feel lost in the beginning and might charge enemies head on which will make the game a nightmare and will cause immense frustration. I had to increase the difficulty to extreme in my first playthrough because of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are here for gameplay - that's a buy. If you are looking forward to enjoy the story - run away. If i could, I would put this game into "mid" category. I loved its gameplay and if you are a turn-based tactics enjoyer - you'd love it too. But the dialogues, the plot, the setting. Jesus Christ. I don't even want to describe it. Long story short, there are no likable or charismatic characters except for probably Jade. Each descision feels terribly far-fetched, each line is a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally finished up an X-COM like game (Miasma Chronicles, PS5) that kept crashing during the final boss fight. In case anyone else had the same issue: the crash is caused if you press d-pad left (at all), d-pad right four times quickly, or hovered on miasma action for Jade.
unlabelledView post →it starts as a good interesting game and becomes a mess at the end. + Good graphics + OK battles if you have correct skills - Not rewarding weapons - Not rewarding level ups (actually it's a first time I see a game that allows to change skills anyway you want because... there are no good skills. Each enemy type needs other skills and you need to change your skills often to win the fights) - I don't know what magic skills do here. Most of them are costly and useless - Story is a mess with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I felt like the combat was serviceable and I kind of liked the dialogue and voice acting. However, the overall story was very boring. Moving around the map also felt very clunky and not fun. The whole experience just ended up feeling a bit bland.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I'm still waiting and hoping for Mutant Year Zero sequel I had to scratch an itch and I tried this game, since it's from the same developers and plays similarly. The story is quite good, the characters are OK. Gameplay is, as I said, very similar to MYZ and that is what i was looking for, so no complaints there. The graphics are good, nothing mind-blowing, but it gets the job done. The world is nicely crafted. I enjoyed it. The game is also longer and larger in comparison…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a brilliant atmosphere, the turn based combat is fun and challenging. The characters are rememberable and voice acting is quite good. Story is good but nothing really special.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was pleasantly surprised by this game. After seeing it several times in passing, but not quite sure, I got a great deal on it, so I picked it up. After you put in some hours and many levels, you finally get to a point where you can utilize stealth and weigh your options with different weapons and powers/abilities. There are many many levels, all beautifully designed. After the beginning, you typically control 3 characters at once, with some switch out options later. Pro tip: the entire…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have been unreasonably patient with this game. Miasma Chronicles looks good, and the turn-based combat is quite enjoyable. BUT: The game crashes often - on average, every ten or fifteen minutes. I tried several workarounds but nothing helped. Toward the end, the crashes became so frequent that I gave up on finishing the game altogether. The writing suffers on a fundamental level. While Miasma Chronicles is framed as post-apocalyptic sci-fi, it feels like it was originally written for a…

Like Mutant Year Zero, the world is in a terrible state due to this unknown disaster known as "The Miasma" where it not only destroys and rots things, but it also re-creates entirely new life-forms which you learn shortly after the beginning when you run…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It looks quite nice, the atmosphere and storytelling start off well, but a turn-based, tactical game with an utterly - and deliberately - broken combat system? Pathetic. The whole system is the Devs' declaration of bankruptcy, basically saying - hey, we are unable to come up with an Enemy AI that works, so we need to have them blatantly cheat and become ridiculous bullet-sponges, too. The tutorial lies to you. Cover does absolutely *nothing* for the player characters. Enemies hit almost…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good atmosphere - Fallout meets XCOM. It has XCOM style tactical combat, but within a linear RPG story similar to Fallout. It was done very well and I enjoyed it. 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Me jumping back into Miasma Chronicles after a while away: this game has no business being this good!
unlabelledView post →Fredo's Game-Os: Miasma Chronicles So I had never heard of this before getting it in humble choice this month, and I was kind of surprised to learn it was a spiritual successor to Mutant: Year Zero. It has the same sort of interesting "real time exploration with xcom style battles"
unlabelledView post →Don't buy at full price not worth it. Story was lacking in several ways characters were bland no depth to them mostly surface level info on them. Npc's were bland too basically only guest givers only or just enemies that had very little to them. Graphics were good game play was boring and repetitive nothing really stuck out. Skill tree was very limited and gave very little in improvement or new ways to combat that somebody else didn't have already. Powers were neat but the amount of energy…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mechanics are aggravating, and its a bit short. Not terrible otherwise.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →5/10, which is as good as a thumbs down for me. The graphics want to look good, but are far too spotty; screen tears everywhere. However, the artwork is good, the story just doesn't shine as much. It's a typical story, stolen and reused countless times by a near infinite number of "writers" these days. Also, there's a ton of "tutorial" type missions at the beginning, while the game isn't really that complicated. You can edit your gear and skills at any time with zero cost to you, which I find…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is bad, really really bad, it's shallow with twists yo usee coming from a mile away... The combat is the same all the time, sneak around and kill as many enemies as possible before going into combat with the rest. As soon as you figure out how comnbat work the game is realxing in difficulty, But still I enjoyed the game, but it has so many flaws... And be aware that the message about no return is really easy to miss (as it's such a slogg by that time you don't really pay…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another culprit of the "I wish there was a mid rating" game. Miasma Chronicles was about 2 patches away from being a true hidden gem, but unfortunately due to a few "not quite game-breaking but certainly game disrupting" bugs and some questionable design and balance choices a game that should have been a solid 8/10 is unfortunately brought low to a devastating "fine." What do I mean? Well, lets give you two big examples from each school of disfunction. One particular annoyance in the bug…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like their previous game, Mutant Year Zero, this is a good looking game, with a variety of environments, and it's a fun, turn-based strategy shooter along the lines of x-com. There's the depth of strategy you'd expect, plenty of unique guns, mods for them and different options for spending your leveling points, etc. I was a bit disappointed when I realized I was gearing up for the final fight -- the whole game (with all side quests) was only about 30 hours (it took me 32.4 hours, according to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game. it's kind of an intro game to a possible series, that I hope they make as it was getting good. It has some bugs and I had to replay a few battles due to this, but it does auto saves, so no big deal really apart from where there is multiple battles. The story is good, much improved from their other games. Its a little slow going due to the need to search a lot and use stealth. There is a variety of enemies that get tougher, which I like. I'm kind of missing the duck though,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Chief, this game is not worth your time. 1. Game breaking bugs. The game soft locked on the final battle. Audio streams cut out for no reason. 2. The story is the most nonsensical and cringe-worthy hero's journey. 3. This game has severe stutters and FPS drops on high end hardware.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved Mutant Year Zero, mainly because of the characters in that x-com like game. So I was looking forward to playing Miasma Chronicles. At first it was okay. The main character, Elvis, was a bit annoying to hard to like. The story was meh until you get past the wall. Then it was pretty good. But once I got towards the final few sections the story really shined and the characters and their flaws and strengths complimented each other. Still the weak point at the end was still Elvis.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is amazing, you obviously have to like the genre turn-based. Personally i'd say it's on similar level with mutant year zero(for me miasma was a little better) and definitely better than showgunners. hope this studio gives us a sequel, the story can be developed more!

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Miasma Chronicles is a hidden gem for turn-based tactics fans. While it never received the attention it deserved, it delivers satisfying tactical combat, meaningful character progression, and rewarding exploration. The mix of real-time stealth before battles and challenging turn-based encounters keeps every fight engaging. The story and dialogue aren't perfect, but the post-apocalyptic world and strategic gameplay more than make up for it. If you enjoyed XCOM or Mutant Year Zero, Miasma…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a great and sadly underrated gem! Its amazing how good world building and character development works together with good stealth and combat mechanics. Its not perfect, but almost bug free(at least when I played it in 2026) and works pretty well. It feels new and fresh compared to usual post-apocalyptic games. I really enjoyed it, as well as Mutan Zero. I really hope there will be more games from this developer because I am a big fan of games like this. If you like post-apocalyptic…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This had been sitting on my wishlist for a while, but it was well worth the purchase. Definitely doesn't hold your hand after the first few levels, but also isn't impossibly difficult. A fun challenge, with a neat story.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ridiculous characters, cringe dialogue, crappy story but the gameplay is great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved the game! I love all the Bearded Ladies games (except for Corruption 2029, but that one didn't really have an engaging story. I think they know that themselves). They simply have everything I love; gameplay-wise, story-wise, and graphically, I find them truly unique. I played "Mutant Year Zero" back then and it really impressed me. Then I recently checked to see if they had a new game and the answer is "Yes", haha. Miasma is a few years old now, though. I don't really follow them that…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun game. The game play is the core of the experience and that made me want to seek out all the enemies to fight. The world building is fairly good and the story is hit an miss. Parts of the core story rely on the main character not having a clue how genetics work. The DEI casting can be seen in the game but it is not the worst example I have seen. 7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the game do I think it is way too short at this point. I hope that MC2 will have a much longer story and more weapons and diversity in terms of dialog. The combat is good for the lovers of the turn base genre I highly recommend it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Miasma Chronicles was a pleasant surprise. I picked it up on sale, and it was absolutely worth the price. I really enjoyed the game’s aesthetic and atmosphere. The stealth mechanics can become a bit repetitive once you figure out the “formula” for dealing with enemies, but the combat and tactical gameplay are genuinely fun. The game is also quite forgiving, allowing you to save almost anytime, which makes it easy to experiment with different tactics. 8/10 — great fun, especially at the…
