neutral · AI labelView post →So, my wife and 4.75-year-old daughter (who has never seen a full-length movie in a theater before) are going to see MOANA 2 with her two older cousins and aunt and uncle. I have been granted the freedom to either: a) join them b) see GLADIATOR 2, alone, at the same time What should I do
neutral · AI labelView post →Took our 4yo to her first movie in the theatre today (Moana 2) and my girl crushed it — delighted by everything, ate a truly massive amount of popcorn, introduced her to the concept of "the icee." A successful day of cinephile indoctrination!
neutral · AI labelView post →I see this is STILL up. MOANA was the most streamed movie anywhere over the last five years. MOANA 2 broke weekend opening records on its way to $1 billion+. It was the third-highest grossing film of 2024. What's he TALKING about?
neutral · AI labelView post →Took my daughter to see Moana 2 It's good but quite safe, a few too many things directly from the first movie Not sure it's really anything more than fun - emotional pull isn't particularly deep either
neutral · AI labelView post →There was a trailer before Moana 2 for a Zachary Levi Jesus movie about the devastating inspiring overcoming-of-insurmountable-odds of *checks notes* having a neurodivergent child. Everyone involved needs to calm the fuck down.
neutral · AI labelView post →Moana 2 was animated in Vancouver as an episodic tv show for Disney+, but they decided to retool it into a movie. It was outsourced for a fraction of the price of a normal Disney film, and will still make a bajillion dollars, but none of the Vancouver animators will likely see a dime of residuals.
neutral · AI labelView post →not watching the oscars for the first time in years because we had another baby and the only new movie I’ve watched since then is Moana 2. also I saw that one “penis to vagina” clip from Emilia Pérez and I think I actually died right then and everything since has been an extended death dream

negative · AI labelView post →It was possible to be kind of contrarian about him until Moana 2, in his absence, revealed that he was the main reason the first movie was good

neutral · AI labelView post →My dad famously stood for the entire 2 hour 38 minute runtime of Tár and most recently did the same for Moana 2, a movie he had "no interest" in watching yet was wholly locked in.
neutral · AI labelView post →Moana 2 advertisement in Hibiya Winter Square. At the risk of sounding negative, is anyone actually excited about this film?
neutral · AI labelView post →Taking the kiddo to see Moana 2 and they’re playing Attitude Era WWE clips before the movie 🤣
neutral · AI labelView post →I enjoyed Moana 2, other than spending the entire movie thinking “that character sounds just like Rose Matafeo!” Reader, it WAS Rose Matafeo - and she’s great in it 👍
positive · AI labelView post →Took our kid to her very first movie theater and she loved it so much that when the movie (Moana 2) finished she started doing gymnastics in front of the screen
neutral · AI labelView post →Now we’re at a drive in movie theater in South Carolina to watch Moana 2 (and get the ridiculous wave shaped popcorn bucket) The screen next to ours was of course showing the Sonic 3 trailer. And the concession stand has a cute cat
neutral · AI labelView post →Asked for popcorn, to watch Moana 2, and ended up getting the #OverlordTheSacredKingdom movie bucket. This is amazing.
neutral · AI labelView post →Just watched #Moana2 and it was a decent enough sequel, but it didn’t seem needed in the grand scheme of things. The songs were not nearly as memorable as the first movie though, but I think that tends to happen when you have a sequel by comparison to the first film. The Disney CGI was breathtaking.
neutral · AI labelView post →Just watched Moana 2 and I’ve come to the conclusion that Moana 3 should just be an MMORPG instead of a movie
neutral · AI labelView post →Moana? more like this movie makes Moana die! * *this is a joke and not a real comment on the quality of Moana and Moana 2
neutral · AI labelView post →Moana (2016) Nielsen streaming movie ranks: 2020 - 2nd (1st of non-new movies) 2021 - 2nd (1st of non-new movies) 2022 - 4th (1st of non-new movies) 2023 - 1st 2024 - 1st 2025 H1 - 4th (1st of non-new movies, Moana 2 is 1st overall) This is not a nostalgia play. This is what kids are watching NOW.
neutral · AI labelView post →I'm sorry, Moana came out in 2016 and Moana 2 came out in 2024. Why are we ALREADY doing a live action remake of a movie that's barely a decade old?
neutral · AI labelView post →The fact that people aren’t covering the songs for Moana 2, a Disney musical. Says a lot about that movie.
neutral · AI labelView post →Walt Disney Animation Studios planned to release an original film that was focused on a Persian princess in 2024, according to The Wrap. The film was quietly pulled off the schedule and was replaced with ‘Moana 2.’
neutral · AI labelView post →From what I've heard, Moana 2 is pretty mid. So my prediction is that it'll naturally get a nomination for Best Animated Film at the Oscars while Transformers One doesn't get shit.
neutral · AI labelView post →What I would say, as an adult who watches children's movies with children, is that Moana is a superior kids' film. (We don't talk about Moana 2.) I don't understand why I would pick a longer, live action version over 'now I will take my or a friend's kid who loves Moana to the cinema again'.
negative · AI labelView post →I would not go that far but after watching Moana 2 I will gladly admit Lin Manuel Miranda is talented and they should never have made a second movie without him

positive · AI labelView post →Grossing $221 million across North America since its Wednesday release, 'Moana 2' has shattered box office records with the biggest five-day opening of all time — including the biggest Thanksgiving debut ever.
neutral · AI labelView post →Moana 2 is somehow far, far more nothing of a movie than the first one. Genuinely impressed.

neutral · AI labelView post →Was watching Vaiana 2 (or Moana 2 outside of Europe) and the statement by Loto, the engineer character in the movie, is such good advice for early career researchers! 'Perfection's a myth. There is only failing, then learning, then death'.

neutral · AI labelView post →But after they first done so at the end of the 2010s with Ralph Breaks the Internet and Frozen II, they went back into sequel period with Moana 2 and Zootopia 2, especially with the former that was originally a Disney+ show before turning into a film in less than a year due to these circumstances.
neutral · AI labelView post →I still cannot believe Disney took a TV series in the middle of production, edited it down into a film, and called it Moana 2.

neutral · AI labelView post →Moana and Maui are back in a brand new adventure which itself had a strange adventure going from a Disney+ series into a film. It's does have its moments, but it's an odd one. Anyway, here's my review of Moana 2.
neutral · AI labelView post →I'm not seeing Moana 2. I've heard it was mediocre and I'd rather not give disney money for a movie they rushed into production and probably didn't treat the animators well on
negative · AI labelView post →Yes and no. Correlation is not causation. Movies cost so much that consumers have to be picky. As a cost/benefit are you more likely to get your money's worth from the Odyssey or Moana 2? If Moana 2 had more practical effects would it be a better movie? A theater trip for a family of 4 can be ~$100. It is for my family where we live. That's 1/3 the cost of a 55 inch TV, or a 65 inch TV at Black Friday, plus a big box of microwave popcorn. If you want people to see the poorly written,…
