positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wish Steam had something other than thumbs up and thumbs down, as I have mostly enjoyed Magical Drop VI, but I have to give it a thumbs down because it has major flaws that will ultimately make me walk away from the game. First off, this entry is MUCH better than Magical Drop V. Graphically and musically, it is more in line with Magical Drop III, which is, by far, the best of the Magical Drop series. In fact, it *almost* looks like it could be a remake of MD3, but alas it is not.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly, this Magical Drop really errs on the side of being bloated and padded out with things that shamelessly, flagrantly waste the player's time. If you play Magical Drop 3 you'll see that Live 2D or whatever is being used to trim the cost of animations for characters does not compare to the actual effort of actually animating the characters in a way that is worth a damn. The major things that Magical Drop 6 does are just strive to have a lot of unlock conditions that are clearly made to…

unlabelledView post →As a huge fan of magical drop, I was expecting this game a lot. I was afraid after de fiasco that was 5, but the first trailers give me hope. The Core gameplay has the same frenetic gameplay, but the way you unlock characters is tedious as hell, and the characters I like are planned as future dlc. Added to that some lame flash animations for the characters and the audio bugs that are realmente annoying ( the battles in path of destiny overlaps the audio from the battle with the world theme) i…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From a casual Magical Drop II/III player perspective this is a really well done continuation of the series after that AWFUL disaster of Magical Drop V. The game feels super responsive, there is a lot of content, and the music is super nice. My biggest issues with the game are how awkward some of the animations are that makes this game look "cheap", that is a shame because the 2D art is quite good, and how you have to unlock every single character (Apparently the devs patched the game so you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the game people buy because they like Magical Drop III. What you should be doing instead is playing Magical Drop III. End of story. There is no substitute and this is a poor imitation. It's slightly better than the now-deceased and banned from Steam Magical Drop V but the reality of the situation is it does nothing really that would otherwise have been done with the now-defunct Data East title. So, you're not really giving them your money, you're giving money to someone generating…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tentative thumbs up, this is actually a middle of the road review for me but Steam doesn't allow for "Maybe" Magical Drop 3 is one of my favorite games ever made, and being an owner of MD5, I was thrilled to hear that MD6 was in development. And I don't dislike this game, but it's hard to say "Yeah, get this game!" while MD3 is still running strong on Fightcade Pros +Game feels good to play +Netcode is good +Devs seem responsive to feedback +Art is good Cons -Character unlocking is going…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game. I was so excited to get it because I love Magical Drop 3, but the negative reviews are right, it's a grindfest to unlock characters and the story mode is just bad. It's not particularly long, I got to the end of my first run in 35 minutes, but then lost twice to the boss and boom, you have to restart from the beginning. If that sounds fun you'll probably like it, but I'm at the point where I just wanted to be able to play this with my friends casually and…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Big fan of Magic Drop 3 on Fightcade, couldnt imagine them somehow making something better, the graphics are so much cleaner, theres a tricky way to rebind controls that helps if you are using a fightstick, and also the aesthetic is true to the series just upgraded and after watching the livestream debut on frosty fight club immediatly went and got it, so far i havnt unlocked Death (my fav character) because you gotta go do a buncha stuff in story mode but have gotten addicted to the Survival…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Multiplayer is dead, characters unlock by clearing modes from Normal to Hard, levels of skill that a beginner will hardly reach since a lot of hours are required. Actually I played Magical Drop III and prequels for some years now and I still strive to beat the CPU sometimes, I can't immagine someone who's just here to "jump into" the series: litterally anti-beginner. The fact that every mode you play force you to restart from the beginning if you lose is frustrating and a huge deal-breaker for…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, this is Magical Drop, and it has online multiplayer. I couldn't be happier. The game does have a few issues, although none of them should be a problem for fans of the series looking to play online. However, those looking for a chill, solo puzzle game may want to know that : - Characters need to be unlocked separately for each game mode, some unlock conditions are really tedious and/or unreasonably hard, and the game doesn't tell you about them. With a guide and decent skill, you should…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The combat game play is solid. The graphics are good. However, there is a limited number of starting characters and is way too many characters to be unlocked without a definitive way to know how. I assume it is through the Path of Destiny, but it is way too random to be enjoyable. Add in the fact that there are a bunch of pointless battles in that mode dragging the game out way too much, it is the weakest part of the game and is not enjoyable. The single player campaign feels too short and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played quite a bit of Magical Drop III at a reasonably high level and feel like this game does have the potential to be the new competitive standard. The netcode is fantastic and the controls are extremely responsive (much more so than previous entries in the series). There is definitely still some jank, especially in some of the single-player modes, but the developers have been very keen on taking community feedback, so I am optimistic that it will be resolved at some point in the near…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game but not worth $40 CDN in any universe. Bought it on sale (i think for like $7 CDN) to play with a friend, and while it's enjoyable enough as a mindless puzzle-bobble-candycrush-bejeweled-type match-3 game, the story mode is a chore and path of destiny is a miserable slog I only endured to unlock my favourite character in multiplayer. I could only recommend MD6 if it's on sale AND you have someone to play it with, otherwise i'd suggest emulating one of the previous titles instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →pros: - way better than md5 - the graphic is cute - the game is fun - a lot of single player modes - the multiplayer online is solid, and has little to no lag cons: - the "path of destiny" mode is pure hell - the way you unlock characters is painful - you have to add the lines manually, making the gameplay slower and not hectic like the others magical drop - the "story mode" is just a bunch of fights with some dialogues, the trailer really hyped it 7.5/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a fan of Magical Drop III from playing the NeoGeo emulation of it on Nintendo Switch, I am absolutely loving this new iteration of the series. The post-release patch also helped things greatly, including reworking the Easy mode, so now I have a much better time playing against AI.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I Recommend This Game ( Gameplay: https://youtu.be/mXCregd8FQk )
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →you've got to be joking i fail a level and it sends me back to the start of the game???
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Magical Drop 6's board game mode is actually better than Magical Drop 3's board game mode. That's not saying much. Everyone who accidentally selected the latter just had to accept they wasted their quarters though. This game is a worthy successor to Magical Drop 3 from a casual fan's perspective. I cannot speak for the guys who still play versus MD3 competitively to this day, but the vs. AI, marathon, puzzle, and even caravan modes are all great for solo play (I cannot speak for the online…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After MDV there's good and bad here, but I feel this entry goes a long way to make up for the problems of the past. First and foremost...it's actually finished to a good playable way out of the box. The story is cute, simple and quick, unlocking characters is a nice touch to make you play additional modes of the game and the music is classic. The gameplay is the exact same frantic match 3 that the series is known for and there are no major surprises. Now as for the bad, I'm not the biggest…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Magical Drop VI is a revival of a classic arcade puzzle formula that embraces speed, pressure, and personality while attempting to reintroduce the franchise to a modern audience. Developed collaboratively by Highball Games, Storm Trident S.A., Forever Entertainment S. A., and TA Publishing, and published by Forever Entertainment S. A., the game represents the most ambitious attempt in years to bring the Magical Drop series back into relevance. It stays rooted in the franchise’s arcade heritage…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Recommended 8/10* Gorgeous looking visuals, all art its high res, also love how the character voices sound, and the gameplay its the classic magical drop formula from the arcades, grab some balls from one color and drop them with other balls of the same color so they all blow, if it works, why fix it?, and im glad its the same as always, some times one just want to play some magical drop and chill out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I used to play Magical Drop 3 in an arcade several decades ago and this version is pretty much that. I paid $3 for this, so it's a good deal. It runs well and thankfully it allows mapping keyboard controls, because these middle-aged fingers couldn't win with the joypad. Two minor quibbles: 1. I wish there were an option to automatically skip dialog since the game requires you to hit a skip button and then another to confirm it each and every time. 2. The board game mode (whose name escapes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →From the get go it's already infinitely better than Magical Drop V. I am disappointed I have to unlock my favourite characters, however. And while I appreciate the roadmap with a bunch of free DLC it's incredibly odd they would release without some of the most popular characters from 3. Judgment, High Priestess & Star being late 2023 to early 2024 is a damn shame. The music is the quality I've come to expect from Magical Drop titles and the new story mode is great. I really enjoy the new…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The good: The art is nice. They do a great job with the segmented 2D character models and the "card flip" animation reminds me of the Saturn version of III, which is always a plus. The music is entirely on point. If I never played it, like, solid 9/10. The bad: While the basic gameplay response is okay, the actual mechanics are really poor: 1. The well doesn't auto-replenish to 3 lines, which results in a much stronger need to manually lower new blocks in. 2. There's no point to chaining more…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I saw the publisher, I got very worried. Then I saw the devs, and I got extremely worried. In the end, even with expectations THAT low, I still got dissappointed. What were they thinking? ...Besides the obligatory "oh at least it won't be as bad as MD 5 haha" Anyways, avoid this one
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay, the music, everything it's just fine. Except the animation of the characters it's really painful to watch, some of their body parts it's really weird too, it looks like the artist got really short deadline (i can't stand to see the moon's hips really small when she sitting on the cresent moon). I don't mind flash animation, but you have to be really expert with that. And where the animation of they getting down because of the space getting full of drops like the previous ones?!…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just kinda ran the hits today with a couple exceptions since it was a *big* Smash event. Tip: Do not run Magical Drop VI default. 3/5 rounds 2/3 games will take forever in Mystery. Do one 3/5 round game.
unlabelledView post →I've been playing this game since the MAME 32 games, Magical Drop III was my favorite game of all. I'm so glad to see the games still going.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nostalgic, and fun to pass the time mindlessly ♥ Better with a controller
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →On the most divisive topic: I like the old school feeling of grinding to unlock characters. The DLC is also free, so I don't have many complaints. If you love Magical Drop this will do the trick.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Erm.. Stumbled into this, thought it was Puzzle Bobble / Bust a Move ISH. I was wrong. It's more of a challenge, subtle difference. A swine! Going to enjoy it ;)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A worthy successor of Magical Drop 3(unlike 5, but let's just forget that this thing exists). Plenty of single player content, with some free dlcs planned for this year and next year, good graphics, good music: all in all a really good game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game with all of my heart, I am rating it up because of the sales butttt there are few things that need changing: - We cannot remap the keys inside the game - when you lose in story mode you cannot retry you have to restart all over - I cannot find anyone online to play with i waited for long and I didn't find anyone :( The good things are it is more polished, I wish the devs would give us an option to have the MD3 design of characters it is smooth, would be much better with MORE…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have a neo-geo cabinet at my work so i often play md3, and bc i have no life, i only play the survival modes. That being said, I think this did a really good job with recreating the fun the originals did so well capturing. plus i get to play the fool in the comfort of my own home so yay!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought it had better graphics, with all the core mechanics still intact but seems like Magical Drop VI shifts the focus compared to Magical Drop III. In MD3, the gameplay is all about rushing to clear balls as fast as possible, while in MD6 the emphasis is more on chaining combos and managing matches strategically rather than pure speed. So bad that MD III is not on steam
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PEAK MAGICAL DROP
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why do you lose all your progress when you lose? Why do the opponents never overflow and every battle is a race to quota? This game could have been good if it was more like the old games, but it insists on being really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ for NO REASON!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →All the negative reviews are from people who have never touched an arcade quarter muncher before, this game is just magical drop being magical drop.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simply put, it's not Magical Drop 3. Graphics look nice, until you come to play it and realised there's no real animations... and I'm really not a fan of how they made Star look. Gameplay also doesn't feel quite right either.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An episode worthy of the series, and very enjoyable to play on the Steam Deck too!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →30 minutes playtime... 27 minutes waiting for a match to begin.... The match never did begin. I'm now very sad. I was expecting a lot from the revival of Magical Drop one of the best versus puzzle ever made.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hey there fellow gamers, I wanted to share my thoughts on Magical Drop 6! Overall, I think this game is a total blast. There is so much content to dive into, and the multiplayer online mode is super solid. One thing that immediately caught my attention were the graphics. They are seriously gorgeous! And can we talk about The World character? I am in love with this little guy! The attention to detail on all the characters is really impressive. Now, I have to be honest - the game can be pretty…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, controls are responsive and online play is good! It has plenty of content, good music, and a wide variety of characters to choose from. Also, there are more on the way via DLC! It feels like a more polished MD3 with official online play, but there are no teleporting CPU opponents. My biggest gripes are the lack of difficulty with the CPU opponents and the animations. I'm not comparing MDV to this game, it deserves more respect than that. Great job, Forever Entertainment, Storm…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better than V, not that it takes much to be better than V. That said, feels like Magical Drop 3, gameplay wise, that's a good thing. Haven't tried online yet, can't comment. Actual single player modes though? A welcome thing considering how barebones V was.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(Knock like 6 hours off my play time, I left it idling for a while) The base game is decent. It's blisteringly fast and easy to pick up, though it has some balance issues that become apparent. What brings it down are all the game modes and the ways they tie together. It's probably easiest to just explain what's wrong with each mode. Story: Extremely slow and a bad place to learn the game (which is what story modes are for). Dialogue is slow and you'll have to complete the same few puzzle…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved this game. Other game.............pay to get more playable characters. This game.........play to get more playable characters. This game should be a role model of the others. CHEER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easily the second best game in the series, just below 3 Main downside is that you still can't play as any of the evil characters outside in singleplayer outside of story mode and match mode
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A cute puzzle game with a bevy of brightly colored modes, characters, and upbeat music, that should keep you moderately entertained for a few hours while you learn to master its fast-chaining, color-matching, drops. Magical Drop is an arcade series by Data East that's been around for a while, the mid 90's to be exact. And its one that's cultivated a lush history of fast-moving puzzle games where you-the player-take control of character representations of Tarot cards and use their skills to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you wanna play Magical Drop, this is honestly a really good way to do so. Gameplay is as fun and tight as ever, and there is a good amount of content here to keep things fresh. Sale price of $3 is also hard to argue with, at that point it's a no-brainer pickup. As a big fan of Magical Drop 2 in particular, this scratches my itch for fast-paced marble-matching just fine.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun and solid Magical Drop game that pretty much had everything I wanted. If you've played Magical Drop before, you'll most likely enjoy it, and if you haven't and it interests you, I say give it a shot. I understand some people feel like this versions lacks having the amount of content it COULD have, and I sort of agree. I think they have potential to make a grander Magical Drop game with more modes and more adventure. Trust me, there are many hours of gameplay to be had here, but it's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really liked the game but there are some problems with it that really made me consider if it really was worthy the price, first of all the story mode is kanda boring, every time you want a different ending or unlock a character you have to restart everything, this happens too if you lose, this is a decision that is kinda weird if you ask me but anyways, this isn´t the biggest problem, the 2 biggest problems of this game are the way you unlock the characters and the path of destiny, the way…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fans of competitive puzzle games, rejoice! Magical Drop VI - Sale ends March 10th! This is one of my favorite puzzle games to play against other people on Fightcade / Neo Geo.
unlabelledView post →I remembered playing the arcade game when I was little.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely fun yet extremely hard! I wish story mode had a checkpoint system instead of kicking me out to the menu when i lose.. thats my biggest gripe with this game. I also wish for an easier mode (or baby mode as some people say) so i can actually play the game without getting horribly frustrated.
