52 of 52 · most liked first2026 edit: 12 new levels 6 years later with story, voiced cutscenes and gallery entries. doesn't run on win7 anymore though. mystic pillars takes you on a journey to india, where villages are suffering from drought. pillars of the mystic variety appeared out of the blue and are blocking the rivers. as a traveler you come across the first of these villages and decide to help. there's more to the story, won't spoil any of it, but it's very nicely presented, as is the entire game, and while the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's... ok? Not nearly as bad as many of the regurgitated garbage puzzle games on Steam, but still not good enough to recommend. I wish I could give it a 'neutral'. I got to the third world before I realized they weren't going to introduce any new mechanics. The puzzles up to that point feel mostly the same. None of them were very difficult. So, if you really like puzzle games, give it a try. Otherwise, there are too many better games to play.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mystic Pillars is a puzzle game with a presentation and story taking inspiration from Ancient India. A traveler arrives at a land blighted by magical pillars that have stopped the flow of water through it. As the traveler destroys these pillars they gradually restore water and life to the land and along the way learn about the history of the kingdom that once stood among the villages long ago. One nice feature to the game is that the story's voice narration can be in Kannada for a more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As much as I'd like to recommend this game, what with being an Indian Game Developer and all, I don't recommend the game on steam. I have not played it on mobile devices, but I do not believe that the game is yet polished enough to be released on steam. I mean considering that the game is very simplistic, it's really necessary to have other parts of the game in a better state. (Warning, some technical terms from game development used :P ) 1. As for why the game is so big in file size, is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its an ok puzzle game with Indian story and context, can get repetitive or slow, but had a good time of solving them in the office meetings. get only if you like such games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like the art and the colorful style of this game. Most of the puzzles weren't difficult, but there were a few where I had to repeat a bunch of times, or stop and play another day to get a fresh point of view. A nice, relaxing puzzle game to play to chill for a bit.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Follow our curator for similar games https://store.steampowered.com/curator/35180752-3-point-play/ Indie puzzle + ancient India theme + cool cutscenes = 100 levels of puzzles to solve by distributing coins on each pillar within the move limit. The further away the pillar, the more coins are moved.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm quite disappointed in this game since it is claimed to be "original blend of intriguing puzzles and an immersive storyline set" and I bought it because of that, of this immersive storyline but in fact it's writing is very bad :( Such a shame because I would really like to play some story game in the ancient India setting. So, pros: - Levels art - Takes couple hours to get 100% completion Cons: - Writing - Gameplay (while it is not bad at all it is very monotonous; there is only one…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mostly on the easy side with some quite tricky puzzles scattered throughout. There is no real increase in difficulty, aside from some near the middle. I spent a lot of time stuck on a few levels while some others took barely a minute or a few. Good clear tutorial at the beginning. Not a huge variety in the puzzles but since it is only a mid-size game this is ok. Encourages you to think a bit counter-intuitively in some spots, which is good. The arrows on the one-way links can be a little…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like simple and elegant puzzles then this game is for you. There is an interesting story and great art that will keep you engaged in between the puzzle solving. There is a nice gradation of levels and there are some levels that might throw you off, but overall the game is great if you like puzzle games like me!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Though the aesthetic is basically a glorified flash game, the puzzles were still interesting enough.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very enjoyable puzzle game. Level difficulty progress is slow. The game is relaxing. Not for hardcore puzzlers!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The good, the bad and the Weird The Good: Nice story Nice graphics, just the colorful experience you would expect from an Indian tale Nice music Great voiceover So cool that they came up with this (at least to me) new concept for a logic puzzle. Music stops playing when window is unfocused, as every game should be. The Bad: Game cannot be unfocused by just moving the mouse outside of the window, mouse is caught in the window. You have to actually use ALT+TAB. The Weird: (a.k.a. something…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice story. The puzzles are adding and subtracting. Gets a little repetitive. A few may stump you for a bit.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →-as a puzzle game that tries to have a story and add a meaning to the thing you are doing, they did a pretty good job. -the soundtrack is fine and it matches the environment. -the art style is good but it could be more detailed. -I wish there was an undo button. it could have saved so much time. -most of the puzzles are fairly easy. there are some that you might stuck (mostly at the middle part of the game) -they explored their puzzle idea completely. (I think 100 puzzles is enough) -the whole…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →found this game during one of the myriad of gaming showcases that took place in September of 2020. gorgeous artwork, soothing music that hasn't annoyed me yet, and easy to understand gameplay is making me very pleased with my purchase. if you enjoy playing zen-like puzzle games then this is a good one to add to your collection.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Flawed but refreshingly different puzzle adventure. I realise that this review doesn't sound enthusiastic, so I want to stress that I went from rather weirded out to actually enjoying the game quite a lot during the second half. I don't know if something got lost in translation or if the narrative just isn't that good, but it took me some time to get used to. Though I mean, still better than the same old "white American dude saves the world" trope. There are skippable 2D cut scenes with…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Edit: I nominated them for a Steam Award so I'm updating my review to reflect this (for a badge). Amazingly well done little indie puzzle game. 4/5 Gameplay: 4/5 It took me a minute to get used to the game play because you move more gems the further you go, and I'm used to games like Mandela that have you lose a gem each space you move. If you try to make 2 moves back to back too quickly you might not be able to tell if you started the next move. Graphics 5/5 The game is amazingly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple mechanics combine to form puzzles that are tough as hell - I haven't finished the game yet but am slowly making my way there (granted I'm pretty bad with puzzles!) Its art style ranges from cute to stunning, and has a ton of designs and patterns that I've never really seen in another game. Also: (optional) original language narration! Translation into a LOT of regional languages (including a bunch of Indian ones!) Lots of research to represent different communities from the region! This…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mystic Pillars X Kantara from Holy Cow Productions is a puzzle-driven experience that blends logic challenges with a strong sense of cultural storytelling, creating something that feels both grounded and quietly distinctive. Rather than relying on complex mechanics or high-intensity gameplay, it focuses on clarity, structure, and atmosphere, placing players in a drought-stricken kingdom where solving puzzles directly contributes to restoring balance to the land. This framing gives the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mystic Pillars is, all in all, a good game. I want to start off with stating that, because while playing I couldn't shake a feeling of slight disappointment. Now, disappointment can be a bit misleading, since expectations do set the stage for that particular diva to walz into one's head. However, I think it's undeniable that this game is a bit rough in places, even if the core of it is solid enough. To start off, the English writing is... well, it's pretty bad. This game was developed in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An interesting and unique puzzle game - I've never seen puzzles quite like this! The story was fine, but I could take or leave it. I found the difficulty to be rather inconsistent, but that is not so surprising for puzzles of this type - what may be an obvious solution to someone may be less so to someone else. My one complaint: I really wish there was an undo button. Forcing the player to reset the puzzle after making a mistake artificially increases the difficulty (by requiring the player…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a really great puzzle game; good for small-serving fun, when you just need a few minutes for a break. I love the simple dynamics, and the artwork is gorgeous.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mystic Pillars is a puzzle game strung together by a story which has a Visual Novel -ish exposition. The Kannada narration and the art works very well together, and the puzzles are deceptively simple. The aren't so convoluted that it feels like a chore, but usually not so short that you can get away with them without actually trying. There isn't also a very obvious difficulty curve and so there is a general satisfaction when you solve the puzzles even after you are more than halfway through the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At 0,45€, i.e., 0,0045€ per 1 out of its 100 puzzles, it's hard to not recommend this, but good luck not growing tired of it before reaching 50. Still, interesting puzzle-mechanic as such, and also... well... Indian kitsch. I recommend the puzzles.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a simple and engaging mechanic, with a fine story to support it. This was the perfect casual game experience for me and I appreciated the exploration of Indian culture and mythology. Achievements are straightforward to earn. Highly recommend with kudos to development team.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good puzzle game with a "refreshing" indian background, definitely recommended. A shame it did not attract much attention, as it's still in the "profile features limited" state (meaning its achievements won't be counted by Steam until more people buy and play this game).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good Puzzle Game. Would love to get this on mobile platform. It shows there is good developers hidden in Indian Gaming Community. Would love to see more games like this. As I bought this game and hour ago because my brother liked it but i ended up unlocking 35 lvls straight.. going to finish this game soon, Highly recommended if u looking for change in your gaming routines or getting bored by playing same games back to back 24x7 in these quarantine days of COVID 19 - Stay safe and play these…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my first time playing a puzzle game in PC. To be honest, i think this game would be better suited for a mobile. I liked the art style. I liked the touch of Indian myth mixed with some of its lore. This is quite innovative and i expect more of these Indian indie developers to come forth with their ventures. The puzzles were decent , easy at the beginning and changing the pace as the levels increase. If u are into puzzle based games, give this a try.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great puzzle game with an interesting plot. It also has good visuals and sound design. Gets really challenging at the later levels. It's the Dark Souls of puzzle games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The mathematical idea at the core of these puzzles didn't seem like there was much to it, at first, but the developers do ultimately find a number of inventive way to use it, and the levels never got stale or repetitive. There's a surprising diversity of challenges, include some that are quite fiendish. The frame story that's told alongside the puzzles is also interesting and solidly illustrated, but it feels somewhat disconnected from the puzzles themselves, unfortunately. Definitely worth…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The artstyle of this game is especially worth studying for artists that want to portray characters of southwest asian descent. Its not just about "make character brown". Very well done! And an interesting take on puzzle games I've not seen before. If you're a fan of puzzle games it might not be hard, but certainly worth playing, especially to support indie Indian devs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Has some fun and challenging puzzles and relaxing music
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →too slow paced over compicated minimalistic puzzle
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a decent puzzle game, although a bit too easy, art is nice, music is good, story is forgettable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ancient Indian Inspired Puzzle Game. A puzzle game that draws inspiration from Ancient India with voice narration in Kannada adding a unique flavor and overall experience. The puzzles revolve around magical pillars, which you must strategically move orbs to clear the levels. While they generally have only one method to solve, they are still engaging and offer a decent challenge with a simple presentation and a relaxing atmosphere. The game's simple presentation and relaxing atmosphere make it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game tries to mix an in-depth story with a puzzle game. Unfortunately, it fails because it's pretty obvious who you are talking to when they start telling the story making the supposed reveal lame. Next time, blackout their body. The puzzles are fun but don't get harder as you progress. There are a few challenging levels sprinkled in, and the 80s levels are some of the easiest. They add new puzzle mechanics, but not enough, and they aren't compelling. If you really enjoy puzzle games,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an interesting little puzzle game that I cannot wholeheartedly recommend, but neither can I in good conscience give it a thumbs-down. I'm settling on giving it a thumbs-up, because I mostly had fun and it made my brain work, but be aware that it really has issues. Essentially your job is to manipulated gem/coins from pillar to pillar, attempting to create the right number of gems on each pillar. The catch of course is that your number of moves is limited, and you can only move your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I could feel my lungs releasing more carbon dioxide which is not environmentally friendly.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is, by far, one of the most elegant, culturally unique puzzle games I have played in years. I picked this up on sale for a mere $2 and just couldn't believe the value I got out of that $2. Highly recommended to anyone who likes puzzles and experiencing a story that wouldn't come from any American or European gaming company!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is wonderful. Good art, engaging story, and extremely satisfying puzzles. Some levels have slight difficulty spikes, but nothing that can't be overcome. I really enjoyed what I have played so far.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The UI is not very pretty (I'm not a fan of the dialog boxes), but the concept is quite unique and the artwork and the story are pretty cool.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is an awesome strategy/puzzle game. It is worth trying!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clever & fresh take on the casual puzzle game genre with unique design and visuals.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this game! Very challenging puzzles and cool story. I really like the art as well. You will definitely get your moneys worth out of this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun series of little number puzzles where you move gems around. It's entertaining and colorful, and just about the right length. I was stumped on some levels for a bit, just enough to get that nice sense of accomplishment when the pillars finally went down.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As advertised, puzzle based story game. Enjoyable puzzles.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a lovely puzzle game with some really beautiful artwork. The Kannada voice over and language options make it feel right at home. The gameplay is simple but the puzzles can be real brainteasers. Overall 10/10 puzzle game. Wishing for more levels.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mystic Pillars is an interesting puzzle experience. The core idea behind the game is to move gems from one tower to another to create the winning pattern. The way you move the gems is restricted by how the towers are connected, the distance between them, and the number of gems transferred. The game as excellent level design, it starts out slow teaching each technique slowly and builds on that. I do not understand Kannada(and didn't realise that you can changed the voice language too) so I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice puzzle game, well designed and with a good background story. Only downside: in 100 levels, only one new mechanic is introduced, so the game becomes repetitive after a while. Still, it's worth its price, if you like logic puzzles.
