60 of 152 · most liked firstThis is one of those games where you probably just want to wait for a full release The obvious connection here is "oh this looks like Slay the Spire but on a grid" and, yeah. It lifts a ton of stuff from STS, down to numerical values of cards, which is kind of funny and kind of lame. There are plenty of games that manage to do enough differently with the formula and create new gimmicks (Monster Train, Chrono Ark), but this game just copies too many things 1:1. You'll immediately recognize tons…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept for this game is great. Tactical deckbuilder with emergent gameplay through card combinations. However, I feel myself resonating with other reviewers complaints. I find it confines itself too closely to its inspirations like Slay the Spire without leaning enough into the RPG realm. Here are some things I'd like to see: - More opportunities to increase MP/AP. Right now they feel extremely limiting and too hardcore. I think increasing the ap base to around 5 but also increasing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Slay the Tactics. What you see is what you get, story is a bit iffy but the gameplay is GOLD. I can totally see myself dumping a TON of hours into this game. Edit: I have now finished the game with both of the characters that are currently available, and I truly believe this game was a great investment (my estimate is I'll play it for at least 40-ish hours, which is an insane amount of playtime for such a game), I'll probably try to get all achievements next. This is truly a fantastic game,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's Slay the Spire on an Into the Breach grid with nice pixel graphics and six different skill sets to switch between. No complaints!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a FFT:A fan I am extremely disappointed. The gameplay is literally just Slay the Spire. The addition of movement doesn't add anything to the gameplay because you only control a single character. There is no strategizing or team synergies. Just gradual random deck building and deciding what you do with your hand every turn. You discard your hand every turn so you can't think about what your next turn or two turns will be. Each individual battle is quite easy because you are meant to lose by…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →slay the spire with a final fantasy tactics skin
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game feels too barebones and simple, which is a real shame, as it has a good base and visuals. There's just not enough here to sink your teeth into, unless you're fine with mindless turn-based combat. The whole gameplay doesn't feel well thought-out, as if the development was going well, but they just decided to stop halfway through. There's no real scaling as you're going through the map, which means you're basically on the same level you start with, and when fighting the boss. You do…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have mixed feelings. It took me about 5 hours to beat the game on my first playthrough, and it wasn't very challenging. The first time you play, you are allowed either easy mode or normal mode, and I chose normal mode which was the hardest I had available. It was a kind of cute and amusing game- I wouldn't necessarily say its not a good game for the price, I just feel like I kinda coulda done without it. I don't really feel the need to spend anymore time in this game if its not going to be…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For people new to the genre(s?), it's alright. The game has a pretty clear explanation, making a game mixed of 2 complex genres rather more approachable. Not recommended, especially for my fellow rogue-like and tactical games gamers with 300+ hrs in the genre. (Yes, I've won at least a run with each class and each sub-class before writing this review.) ___________________ Gave it an overall thumb down despite wanting to like it because my experience with the game is rather mid. If there is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The concept is great, definitely feels like STS draw with a grid based combat, but still a deck builder since it's one character and not a party. I really enjoyed the first 10-15 hours, somewhat enjoyed the next 10. The concept is beautiful its just missing some depth or something. Like there are enough different characters that its cool, but runs still seem to get repetitive pretty quick somehow. You turn down most new cards and focus on a specific strategy using a couple particular cards…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Take a tactics RPG, then shrink it down into a room by room roguelite format with cards. The art style on it is great, and it runs near perfect on the steam deck. The only thing I really wish to see is some controller support so it can be played with d-pad and face buttons.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice mechanics and progression, great visuals and gameplay. But , short, content seems small, and the game feels like it could be more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was waiting for the 1.0 to leave a review, so now that it's here: The English localization is absolutely atrocious. I know the dev isn't a native speaker, but come on, man. You can ask people on the internet for input at least, it's like they weren't even trying. The cards are... Very uninspired and bland, and so are the enemies for the most part. There was a lot of potential, but it ended up just being Slay The Spire on a grid with worse-designed cards and cringe-worthy dialogue…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Slay the Spire meets Into The Breach, without the polish of either {{EA Review - will update on release}} Slay the spire offered an incredibly balanced gameplay, in both cards, characters, enemies. Into the Breach took grid tactics to a new place by making positioning and environmental control paramount (including the intentions to destroy buildings etc.). What Lost in Fantaland (the orange soda) does is take some elements of both, and do neither particularly smoothly. But there's still…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's definitely something that requires you to go through many runs to learn/improve on the cards to use and to learn about the the enemy move sets. Things I appreciate or find helpful: - the icons above the enemies and right-clicking gives a detailed description about its moves - clean interface; art and music is great - a good variety of enemies and skillsets, interactive items/effects on board - being tile-based adds in to the layer of strategy with the deckbuilding mechanic I don't know…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely grateful I was gifted a key to play Lost in Fantaland, a roguelike tactics game that recently came to PS and Switch. Listen to the Indie Impressions here: open.spotify.com/episode/4S9J...
unlabelledView post →Lost in Fantaland plays very similarly your usual deck-builder rogue-like games such as Slay the Spire. What it does uniquely is that battles are conducted on a grid and your character can move around and use the terrain to your advantage. This adds an additional strategic element that really is quite interesting to play around. Depending on your point of view, however, this can be good or bad as it adds a significant element of limiting the effect on RNG at the highest difficulty. Even the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This pulled me in for the obvious Final Fantasy Tactics art style inspiration during early access. Despite the rough translation and pretty basic turn based grid gameplay... the roguelite elements have kept me coming back every now and then for a while when I'm craving a mix of deckbuilding with a lil FFTactics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very hard to know how the cards would work, even when reading the descriptions in chinese (the native language for the game). The fights are not very strategic because there can be many enemies that joins the fight after the fight starts, which negates the strategic positioning from the start. The bosses are way to strong and the shops are too expensive. The cards also takes a lot of be good and the relics feels underpowered. I like the art which reminds me of FFT but that's about it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not even close to finished. Most of the 'upgrade' cards you get as a reward for winning a battle are downgrades. The only way to actually beat the bosses is to pass on the majority of the rewards you get from finishing a battle. Last boss is poorly designed and has too much health (and turns invincible to heal... twice). There are only two classes rn and they both suck. Entire game is bad. I kept playing hoping that I could unlock something that made the game more fun but all I 'unlocked'…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the english comment you're looking for :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are so many bad cards in each of the classes that you don't EVER want, that sometimes you cannot build a good deck. When this happens you just have to suffer and waste your time and it becomes not fun. The same thing happens with the artifacts (Items you gain that give you passive special effects to your abilities or game mechanics) that you are forced to take that sometimes do NOTHING for you. Really sucks at the end of the game when you use a large chunk of the Artifact currency to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid little game - feels similar to "Into The Breech"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lost in Fantaland, developed by Supernature Studio and published by NPC Entertainment, is a thoughtful and surprisingly intricate fusion of roguelite deck-building and tactical grid-based strategy. What initially looks like a charming pixel-art adventure quickly reveals itself as a layered, deeply strategic experience designed for players who enjoy constant decision-making, experimentation, and adapting on the fly. Each run unfolds like a hybrid between a tabletop skirmish game and a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ive been looking for another slay the spire style game and nothing has scratched that itch more than this game. AAA+
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great combination of lite Final Fantasy Tactics and Slay the Spire. Well balanced, great art, nice interface. Highly recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was looking for a cool card based story game. The art style 10/10 and was hoping for great things but sadly it's very shallow gameplay and a horrible isekai plot complete with never ending bad 4th wall jokes. If you want a fun little mindless card battling game go for it, but don't expect much more than that. For what it is it did very well, just feeling very dissatisfied by it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't buy at full price. Just what you think it is. Minimal content
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm not a fan. It's very bare bones - no settings to speak of - and it's just very, very budget. It feels like a mobile game, but I daresay even they're a bit well tuned. An example; attack indicators over an enemies head. It shows this turn, this enemy will hit me for 12 damage. Fine. But the enemy is too far away, so despite the indicator telling me I'm going to be attacked for 12 damage, I'm not attacked at all because the enemy is too far away. It's something so slight, but it very…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Card Battle turn based strategy. 3 hours in and i am very into fantaland reminds me of the days of ff tactics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought the game at 25% off and it's worth the value, with lots of replayability and passion visibly poured into this little game. It's sort of an ''Into the breach'' meets ''FF Tactics Advance''. The classes are fun to play at first but the RNG is very punishing. Some of the mechanics are not well signaled and the classes you can use are not balanced. Buy on discount.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The English translations on some cards can be confusing but the game is overall pretty enjoyable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would really recommend this game, for me it scratched the same itch that Alina of the Arena did but this game feels like it allows for more overpowered builds. I found it challenging and I think it's often hard to tell whether an enemy will be able to hit you in the next turn (especially bosses). As others have pointed out, the English translation does need some work - I'd be happy to post screenshots and offer corrections to the dev if they have a discord somewhere for it. It's at the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lost in Fantaland is a Fantastic game. It's genuinely one of the best deckbuilders I've played and should be way more popular. You already know how roguelike deckbuilders work, so here's a few things that stand out about this game: - You can use multiple cards at once to combine their effects. You have a card that hits 3 enemies but does only 5 damage and a card that hits one enemy for 20 damage? Use them together and now you're hitting 3 enemies for 25 damage each - There's a big emphasis…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far it's a no. Not well balanced at all. Enemies move too many spaces. Vague card interactions. Card bloat leaves you feeling like you're not building a good engine at any point in the game. Hopefully it gets some serious polish.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My only complaint is there isn't more for me to binge. More classes to play with, more acts to run through, more game modes to enjoy. I'm not sure if it's a translation error or not, but the ending feels so... indefinite. Like there could be more. If you like tactic based RPG's or deck builders, it's an easy get. I hope this doesn't stop getting updates, but even if it did it was a fun time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if this game was the same but without the trickster it would be a 6/10 but the trickster is damn fun to play its a 9/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another card game where I need to build a deck out of crap cards, (and can't "deck build" unless I have cash on hand (80 gold just to drop a card? WTF?)) but the enemies can feel free to do whatever they want because they don't have to follow the same rules I do. Hmmm, I'd like to try easy mode. Oh, I can't because then it's absolutely worthless for progression. Can I try another class? Not until I've ground 100 thankless missions with classes I hate playing. Seriously, why does anyone like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very short fun little deckbuilder roguelite with really engaging gridplay. The cards are designed well and the art is very nice. Not a whole lot of content to be explored. (7/10)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is basically a mix of Slay The Spire and Into The Breach. You get to enjoy elements of a rogue-lite deck building rpg in addition of tactical positioning and use of traps to your advantage. Art wise it seems like it's highly influenced by Final Fantasy Tactics (They both don't have nose!). This game is fun, I wish there's more. Yes it does have replayability if you wanna aim for 100% achievements and full ascension but, contents wise still feels somewhat lacking. However the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For an early access, there is already so much content! And it s tough content! I recommend if you are looking for a gritty StS-like, even in early access. The balance is still a bit strange. It s more like there are 2 out of the 6 playable caracters that I don't enjoy playing. I find their mechanics reaaaaally slow compared to the others. Hypothecally I can see a few infinite combos, but I never managed to get them :))) 3 acts with varying bosses, 3 different deck-pools, increased…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played it for quite some time now and it is still fun to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's 2D slay the spire, but with ugly graphics, distracting dialogue, many minor UI and gameplay bugs, uninspired mechanics and little depth.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a turn-based roguelite in 2022, its mechanics are quite basic and lackluster. It only has cards, uninteresting artifacts, rarely used traps or items, and couple more classes in future. It's low in variety and doesn't bring anything new either.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The writing is so cringe, I did not make it past the tutorial.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great mind burning game for those have only 30 mins to play.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really did not like this game. Will perhaps give it another chance but it was terribly clunky..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Athough the premise is promising, its not worth it in my opinion. Wanted a Final Fantasy Tactics like game, you got it, but it isn't that good. Grinding and not having fun are not something I'd recommend. Its just not fun, the game looks better than it delivers and that aint saying much, it doesn;t look that good.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very fun and addicting game, highly recommend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah its pretty good i guess. It does a bunch of interesting things, but I guess how worth it it is, as always, is dependent on how burnt out you are on the genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really really great game that is well balanced, addicting, and also got beautiful pixel art. You can really feel like the love of the dev team, fantastic roguelike in Fantaland.! If you enjoy roughlikes like Slay The Spire and tactics games like Final Fantasy tactics, you will not regret picking this game up! JUST GET ITTT ITS SO GOOD!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately, bad translations let down what could be an interesting game. I didn't experience much of the game, but the depth seemed lacking a bit too --you didn't really have to respond to variations in enemies and the card pool seemed limited.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An enjoyable roguelite deckbuilder that takes the deckbuilding of Slay The Spire and combines it with the tactics of Into The Breach. The artstyle reminding me of FFT is what drew me in initially. At the time of this review, I've played 5 of the 6 available characters. I have yet to try the newest class, Trickster (which has only one character right now, Fengshui Master). I've managed to "beat" the game on 2 of the characters, Brave and Berserker (both Warrior class characters). Beating the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoy the game. The pixel graphics are awesome and the music is great. Lots of variety in monsters, items, cards. I'm a bit sad that there's only 1 Mage subclass available yet compared to the 3 Warrior subclasses as I prefer wizard-type characters. The Mage has very interesting game mechanics but can be quite hard sometimes. I've experienced very few bugs and even then, maybe I just didn't understand how the card was supposed to work or something. The quality of the game is high.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finish the game in 2hrs.. LOL Overall 10/10 Score This game have big potential! Hope you update more content!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's like Slay the Spire, Into The Breach, and Final Fantasy Tactics had a threesome baby. I've quite enjoyed it thus far. I'm definitely looking forward to more content added to it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really good! I really liked the couple runs I did! I am really excited to see more classes and cards come to the game! I'll go over a few things I liked and some feedback for the devs. The Good The art style is downright amazing. The game play is super simple. I was able to learn the Fire Mages gimmicks in just a few battles. (Would be perfect for the switch) Fire Mage = Win The Bad Don't let these detract, I really really enjoyed this but it isn't without flaws! The writing is where I have…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically nice enough bit addicting game, difficult and sometimes outright unfair as the game cheats and has LOTS of bugs. Sadly it´s dead, so no more bug fixes it seems. Sooo many Bugs.... :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the art is SO GOOD. I wouldn't put the game at the same level as those two, but I think it's very much above average. It reminds me of a more polished version of another "card battler x grid-tactics" game called "Lost in FantaLand" which mostly suffered from translation issues (Chinese devs)
unlabelledView post →I love how movement is as important as playing cards and building a deck and the different classes play totally different (i tried the mage and warrior) i Played a couplenof runs that I lost because the game is challenging but i didn't find it mean i lost because of my own mistakes and the gameplay loop is pretty addicting
