negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're looking for a game to complete alone or with friends in a couple of games without much satisfaction, buy Livelock. Six hours is all it takes to complete a dull and very predictable campaing. If I could give a neutral rating, I would, but since it's not possible, I can't recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not bad for its age recommend to get it on sale if you like top/down shooter 🟢 CO-OP/SOLO top-down shooter with great game play 🟢 Good graphics 🟢 3 different classes provide 3 different play styles 🟢 Variety of weapons with upgrade option 🔴 Being a linear campaign, it's very short (4~5 hours, although it is replayable 🔴 Okay story
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A painful game. It looks good, it sounds good, it controls well, but it has no depth and it feels boring. You get 3 weapons slots, but no reason to use more than 1 weapons. You get 6 weapons, but all of them are virtually the same. You have 3 classes, but there's little to no balance between them and if you play in co-op, as I did, there's little to no synergy either. You have a bunch of enemy types, but it basically boils down to enemies that rush at you and deal close-range damage and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have no clue how this mess has so many positive reviews. This game has every single thing made wrong. The story is one of those types where you wish there was no story, cause skipping CUTSCENES is not fun, neither is skipping dialogues. Said dialogues are pure cancer script-wise, but combined with horrible voice acting they become simply unbearable. Even without story your characters will throw “snappy one-liners”, none of them fun or smart RPG-like unlocks of skills do nothing for the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Completely middling top-down shooter. Not much to speak of from an RPG perspective, where upgrades are tied to levels, not gear. There's some decent shooting and mechanics, but it's packaged with an entirely predictable story. Probably better with friends, but playable solo. Short enough to be digested in an afternoon, with the option to replay missions, though I'm not entirely sure why you'd need to; you'll get close to level cap playing through the campaign on normal. Bounces between being…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Livelock is an action-packed, cooperative top-down shooter game that puts players in the middle of a chaotic robotic war. Players take on the role of one of three powerful robotic characters as they battle their way through robotic armies, traverse fantastical environments, and evade massive bosses. Livelock offers a unique and exciting experience with its combination of intense shooting action and team-based cooperative play. Players have the opportunity to customize their robots' abilities…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fine enough game, unfortunately too dull for any of my friends to want to play so I tried it solo. Played as the support to make my own teammates and her kit was interesting enough. Mobs are fine, generally, but I can really tell the game, despite saying it can be played solo, does not change anything when solo. So you get 3x the suiciders swarming you, you get 3x the tanky chaingunners that saturate the battlefield in bullets, and, most unfortunately, you get to deal with 3x the boss…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Picked a vanguard and just started smashing things like the hulk.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun pew-pew times that you could experience even in cooperative multiplayer. I'm not the type of guy who cares a lot about lore/story/aesthetics, but I can appreciate good ones and here these are a killer. And the sound design and voice acting are also a banger. Looks like the genre of top-down shooters is one of my favourites. Similar solid fun games: Helldivers Alien Swarm/Reactive Drop Red Hot Vengeance Similar bad/flawed games: Hatred Made in Canada. <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great twin-stick shooter but as of this review this game WILL NOT RUN ON WINDOWS 11! I run it no problem on my Windows 10 Home laptop with RTX 3070 graphics. I hope the developers fix it so it will be compatible with Windows 11 in the future... Windows 11 fix below: I got the same error, but also other games didn't work. I think it has to do with bugs in OpenSSL, because it started working after doing this: https://support.gog.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019775837?product=gog Great fun now…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought this would be a fun twin stick shooter, but not. This game expects you to have a 3-player fireteam. I played solo casual and was miserable by the 66% mark. If you play through the game on Easy, you may think it's neat. otherwise, ther are more enjoyable twin-stick shooters out there. I beg of you whatever you want from this game... find a different one. I promise you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Jank, generic and unrefined, not actually worth finishing and drags on too long even taking into account its short duration.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing with a controller (Xbox One) and you cant even reload your gun.Full controller support only for the steam controller.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is weird game. The game play mechanics overall are very well polished, but the story is just bad, the characters are obnoxious, and the voices and voice lines themselves are grating. The boss fights are uninspired with you having to just dump thousands of bullets into the sponges while dodging. There are 2 additional survival modes. Both involve surviving increasingly more plentiful spawns of the same enemies. One you must survive for 15 minutes, the other you survive as long as you…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Surprisingly good mech game, with 3 unique types of mechs, each with their own weapons and abilities. The objectives in the campaign could have used more variation than "protect this" and "destroy that". But there are lots of different enemies and lots of the environment can be destroyed as well. I had lots of fun with this game, too bad we never got a sequel. Recommended!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For a 90% off game this is pretty cool but only having three characters limits the game a bit I think but other than that it's a steal
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great twin stick shooter fun for the 99¢ price! Works great on Steam deck
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay: Fun Enough Visuals: Decent Voice Acting:... ok Story: poorly executed This Franchise have a serious potential if only the story is rewritten entirely

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice little gem to be honest. I am up to the 3rd and final act, I think... Story is not the best but it is okay, game play is pretty good, weapons are pretty awesome, abilities are sweet as well even though there isn't a huge amount of them but since you can play with the 3 classes, which adds some variety and you can keep changing characters for the next mission it seems but I have only stuck to the one for now. I have only used the purple dude(Hex), yet to use the chick or the other dude…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am NOT the target audience for this game at all. I don't like mechas/robots and tow down games usually bore me. That said i LOVED this game. The world, characters, gameplay, etc is so good and well made. It never felt unfair or too hard. I always knew where i was going and how to get there. The UI is nice and easy to read. I appreciate that the devs didn't make explosions and stuff hamper gameplay. There's so much to like. The only negatives is the final boss is way too easy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was fun and short*, didn't outlive it's welcome or let any of the mechanics get stale. Worked great on Steam Deck. Pretty sure co-op is dead as a doornail. Probably don't buy anywhere near full price. *I'm personally a big fan of 5-7 hour games like that. I'd rather pound though a short game then quit bored 7 hours into a 30+ hour game because the light at the end of the tunnel is so far off but the game hasn't introduced anything new since the 2nd hour of gametime (Borderlands…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's competent. I only played the Vanguard. The Vanguard is a bit clunky and its weapons have overly long reload times, but that fits the class. Regularly unlocking new weapons/skills or upgrading the ones I use. The game is from 2016 but it feels older--in a good way. No microtransactions, no loot grind, just straight into the action. I didn't finish it but I still enjoyed my time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →☆_Review in english & deutsch!_☆ Livelock is a fantastic cooperative top-down shooter! Livelock impresses in many areas; I’d like to start with the cooperative mode. Playing with two friends is great fun. You can quickly and easily invite friends in the lobby. The maximum group size is three players. The story is engaging and easy to follow. You can replay any chapter at various difficulty levels. There are three characters—a tank, a medic, and a sniper—and regardless of which class you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not much to say here, boring, generic, zero fun from gameplay, story not worth mentioning.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not my usual type of game but really fun. story is kind of cheesey but it feels like a game ,like something you want to close and come back to the next day and not like a chore (my subjective take on other top down games)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Livelock pros: //fast game with modern day graphics with easy controls that moves from location A to B to C and so on //good amount of action and special effects cons: //a lot of difficult battles/objectives //some overpowered enemies //some enemies have unfair attacks //could use more health drops, powerups, and upgrade parts //sometimes too many enemies constantly spawn //upgrades require a lot of resources //collecting resources are a grindfest //somewhat repetitive //some lack of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Could be fun. Ultimately buggy and frustrating.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to like it... I want to like it. The game has some solid production value with nice shiny graphics, lots of unlockables, loadouts a la Call of Duty, voice-acted characters with their own personalities, tons of bullets all over, etc. etc. Basically, this game has a lot going for it. A LOT. I just don't like it. I tried this in the hope that it would be a nice twin-stick shooter, and it is. The core gameplay is just too similar to virtually all twin-stick shooters: Shoot. Dodge. Run.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've gone on a bit of a buying spree this week (too much), HellDiver, Skull & Bones, Lords of the Fallen, some other smaller titles. I said no more crazy, that's enough for the year. Then I saw this one. I love sci-fi mecha, smups, top-down twin stick shooters, and said, "OK, this one looks really cool. One more game then." And I''m not disappointed. No buyers remourse here. I absolutely love it. I'm obviously not very far. So, I can't speak to the overall experiance really solid. Great…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short game at around 4 hours of playtime but it's a fun top down shooter for coop.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice short game thats a lot of fun with a group of friends
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished it on Normal in less than a day. Not a very long game, but I had fun. The dialogue and story were a bit meh, but the graphics weren't bad and the gameplay was good. Level was design was pretty cool and the attacks (for the tank anyway) were done well. There isn't much in the way on onboarding, so you kinda have to just figure it out. Most annoying thing was having WSAD directional controls on a top-down shooter - that was super weird for me since I was expecting click-based movement.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hi I finished the game twice—once solo and once with a friend in co-op. Playing solo was enjoyable, but co-op really made the game shine. It feels like the game was balanced with co-op in mind, and that’s where it truly excels. There is a story, which I do not care about. There are three distinct classes, each with its own playstyle. The ranged classes are great, while the melee class feels a bit weaker in comparison—though still fun to play. Each class comes with a limited set of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good, simple top-down shooter. With a story that goes nowhere. 3 characters, 6 possible different weapons for each one. The same with skills, but you can only pick 3. You unlock passive upgrades (either for your weapons or skills) as you play and that's about it. Kill enemies, kill some bosses - the end. I enjoyed it. It is great to grab it on -90% sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game was pretty fun.. only 7 hours to beat it, which is good cause it started to get a little mindless at the end. it's pretty casual so if you're looking for something straight forward that you can chew through in a weekend, this is a good option. picked it up for a buck, so the value i got was solid. a sequel might be interesting if they can change up the mechanics and add some deeper customization.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Right out of the gate I had an issue: My 3840x1200 resolution caused the character model on the initial character select screen to cover the button that you need to hit to select the character. They don't give you an opportunity to change the display resolution prior to selecting your character, so it's game breaking. If anyone else runs into this issue, my fix was to change the resolution in VideoSettings.xml, (probably in your Steam/steamapps/common/Livelock/ folder). 1920x1080 made the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →combat is really hard to control it does not let you turn around to shoot the enemy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →9 out of 10 Co-op up to 3 players Top down twin stick shooter with i-frame dodges. Played through the campaign with one friend and it took about 7 hours to complete. Never got to fully finish the game after Alpha dies because the game bugged out at the same point on two retries; its a 9 year old game at this point (I don't fault the devs for this). Game play is great, graphics are stellar, controls are spot on, effects substantial but not blinding, sound is top notch, class system is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A short but really delightful experience, some of the most fun i had with a twinstick shooter. The combat is always exciting, the abilities of each class are all well implemented. You are really getting stronger as you level up in this game which gives a nice sense of progression. Even playing solo, this game is really fun and very much recommended if you dont mind the short campaign. Its also very replayable and you can switch between classes at any time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. Unfortunately no coop.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a very short game for the price tag. The dialogue is okay. The story and concept are interesting, but it tries really hard to provide similar narratives to Drakengard/NieR, when it could've done it's own thing/theme. The gameplay loop is the most enjoyable part of the game. I only not recommend it because of the play time. Try it for yourself if you like Robots meets The Ascent.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A nice short top down action shooter about robots and with robots. The story can be meh or good, depending on what games you previously played. This is because of its theme and somewhat plot twists. The pacing is good. You get breathers and you get intense action. Good ballance. The characters are fun and unique in their skills and kit. I loved the soldier. Graphic is nice, bgm and music are meh. Some bad things, stuff that I didnt like: - game is too easy even on hard - no real setback…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring with no player base.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A strong, resounding 'Meh'! I bought this game for 1.5$ and really cannot complain because I got my money's worth out of it. On top of that it runs on Linux out of the box (using Proton GE 8.6). Initially I thought it was related to the game "Gunlok" from the 2000s, however this is not the case. The other ratings from 2016 are still accurate in 2023: An OK game with tons of wasted potential. Completely generic story. Negatives: - The game struggles to register more than one button press at…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought top-down shooters peaked with Hotline Miami, and Postal. However... this game goes so hard. Play it right now if you're a fan of the genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best played with the bois, it's optimised for online co-op. Single player campaign is a bit lifeless, and too difficult to conquer alone. Good controller action (unplug/reconnect pad if your R trigger doesn't work first go)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Been gaming since '89, this is arcade action at its best with enough variety and a satisfying sense of progression. It is high quailty and reminds me of a mix of One (psx) and Torchlight with no loot. Quick and addictive gameplay, vibrant visuals, decent cutscent animations. Easy to recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game that is easy to follow. The game play is relies on shooting and evading attacks with an easy to follow weapon upgrade system and skill kit. With the variations of AI/PvE and extra weapons/skills a you level up and upgrade, the game does alter slightly to keep things interesting but the missions itself can be repetitive after a while. Livelock is a nice casual game that has probably lacks players for coop but can still be fun playing solo.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I guess its one of those games that are well off their prime and it is kinda sad and shameful that they say that it has a single player mode.. The story is non existent and I guess this could have been fun twenty years ago but I kinda doubt it.
