Con: Jaws, Y tu mamá también, Raging Bull, Life of Brian, Sound of Music is the perfect musical film but Wicked is fucking good guys. It's done the impossible - taken something so theatrical and made it work on film.
unlabelledView post →The Life of Brian (to use the current discourse's example) is a very good film that has a couple of bits in it that modern audiences might raise their eyebrows at. Things that wouldn't even get as far as the script's second draft, unless the whole point was to mock a particular group of people.

George also stepped in to provide finance for the film 'Monty Pythons Life Of Brian' when EMI pulled out due to worries about content. #GeorgeHarrison

unlabelledView post →Also, for a list so smugly by-critics-for-critics, putting Holy Grail above Life of Brian gives the whole damn game away. Buncha barely-passing film students smirking at each other and understanding neither popular film nor proper cinema. Genuinely disgusting.
unlabelledView post →The fact that Monty Python used the sets from Zeffirelli's Jesus of Nazareth to film Life of Brian is a source of never-ending delight to me.
