60 of 180 · most liked firstThis is a top down retro shooter. Each level is randomly generated, and you must clear every bad guy in the room before progressing. If you die, you start the level again on a new completely random map. I normally would find it annoying starting all over again, but this mechanic stops you from just running trial and error to eventually get through. You get a pretty standard set of guns, twin pistols, shotgun etc, all of which can be upgraded. I ran into no bugs and the games run very well…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →General Larva Mortus is a typical example of a isometric budget shooter with semi-cartoonish graphics. The interesting in it is the extremly low price due the constant 90%-off price label, which puts it into the bellow 50 cents category. And for that it offers quite a few good things. Gameplay We are controlling a monster hunter looking guy from a birds perspective, which gives us a quite good overview trough combat. Our hero is easy to work with, which is definitely welcomed as combat always…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a small top down shooter that is a horror based dungeon crawler. It's actually pretty good for a small independent project like this. It's not super polished, but it's not overwhelmingly amateur either. The game does have some bugs here and there, and one that can really hurt your achievement hunting, so be careful of that. The game has a mix of it's normal campaign missions, as well as randomly generated missions that appear on the map as yo complete more. Most of the campaign…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game lacks any remarkable quality that justifies buying it, even on a sale. It's basically a twin stick shooter (without controller support) where the player scuffles through randomized (but persistently unstimulating) dungeons, fending off flocks of uninspired enemies to tediously grind through a few repetitive mission objectives, all tied together by the most perfunctory of stories. The game's design and visuals transpire blandness. Enemy variety consists of the trite assortment of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Larva Mortus is a top-down shooter with nice 2D graphics and fast-paced combat. While it has a campaign with a story it's nothing you haven't seen elsewhere already. Still, completing the story still makes the world map available where more and more quests pop-up so that you can play for a long time. You have a decent array of weapons and a few dozen unique enemies and of course some RPG elements just to make sure you like getting things going. Achievements are related to special objects found…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →scum dev! they disabled any unused key. this should show buyers to stop supporting these crappy games when the devs repeatedly disrespect and rip us off. scum/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would be a really fun game if it didn't constantly prevent you from completing levels. When you finish whatever the objective is and no exits spawn, it's really annoying. First time I was OK with it. Thought it was just a bug. Second time I was annoyed. Third time I uninstalled the game. What a waste of money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ok, I gotta out myself as a huge fan of this game. I mean.. How could I not celebrate something that presents itself with "Ultimate Annihilation of Bizarre Undead Armada"? And that with a typo in it?! I love this ♥♥♥♥. It's casual, it's trashy and satisfying. I come back to it for years. That's about it. See ya.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🎯 Rating: 7.5/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐☆☆☆ 📜 Overview Larva Mortus is an action-packed top-down shooter with a strong focus on combat and survival, developed by Render Code. Set in a dark and eerie world, the game revolves around fighting off waves of grotesque enemies while exploring various creepy environments. Players assume the role of a character with unique abilities, hunting down monsters and solving environmental puzzles to progress. The game offers a variety of weapons and upgrades to help deal…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little twin stick shooter. Achievements hunters beware! Collectibles drop depends purelly on rng and you can get dupes.. Hunting for last one of them might take eternity xD
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Extremely primitive game. I would have played normally at the end of the last century, but now (played in 2009) it looks disgusting. Also, I couldn't get to the end due to a bug in one of the last levels.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is dumb. And it revels in its own stupidity. If anything they didn't go far enough really. You are a monster hunter of the Van Helsing variety called to investigate some strange going-ons. You eventually meet a man who claims to be cursed against his own will and only by collecting the various artifacts of doom can you save the world. Halfway through this you are hit with a plot twist from one of your would be targets that actually collecting the pieces is a bad idea and your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd say... It's OK. This is a top-down H&S game. The graphics are basic but decent. The music is not a big deal. The story is simple and pretty much a cliche, but I guess it goes well with the concept. Bugs, yeah, some... Mostly rooms you can't finish due to a monster that didn't spawn. The simple solution is to exit and come again inside the room. Near the end, you probably gonna need to exit and do the whole mission again if the boss didn't spawn. No crashes. Works fine on Win 10.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent dungeon crawler. Simple story. Mike Mignola aesthetics. Pretty much in line with Darkest Dungeon but in the shooter genre.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was fun...but after a few levels it got really boring and repetitive.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game is meh and achievements dont work for me
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a guilty pleasure for me. There are lots of mechanic glitches/shortcomings that impede progress that you have to deal with ---- such as being in a dungeon then finding yourself at the map having to start the dungeon again, losing your total score (keep a careful eye on the score, and if it happens, exit the dungeon, and your score will be where it was), difficult to understand instructions, and the lack of any sort of in game help. But in spite of all this, I love the game. The…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Primitive and dull top-down shooter.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great little game from 2009, recommend for sure but I took long way of grinding as per the hours I played but got to the point it was almost impossible to grind I think from around the 4million point mark so then just smashed out the main story which was actually really good to me. Very happy I brought this and played it, it reminds me of old flash games, this game is like 50 mb or something so come on people who are bagging it out, what you expect, clearly your not from old school gaming…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a shame that this game wasn't updated anymore by adding new areas, enemies, weapons and new characters, for me it would have had incredible potential. Personally it's a must buy for horror fans and all top down shooter lovers but also for action lovers since you will also be able to use a mighty Zweihänder to kills various monstrosities, this sword is the gem of the game in my opinion. In this game we will play with a badass protagonist who will be blatantly reminiscent of a muscolar Van…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish I could recommend this game because I enjoyed the gameplay and aesthetics. Unfortunately, there's a game-breaking bug where monsters spawn outside the room and can't be attacked. It happens frequently and leaves you unable to progress on certain levels.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Larva Mortus is a 10 year old top down twin stick shooter with procgen levels (similar to Binding of Isaac). With a dark supernatural theme, you perform missions around the world to gain new weapons and go up levels. There's a set of campaign missions to round out the experience. Unlike the indie games of today, considerable effort went into Larva Mortus, and this is laudable, but the game has problems. For starters, even in 2009, gamers enjoyed monitors with different resolutions, yet the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I normally write my reviews a bit differently and make them look more professional, however I'm not going to for this game as I couldn't really play it and here's why: Why I can't play this and can't recommend it: ♦ No real graphics/resolution options (Launched the game and it didn't fit my screen, read you could change the resoltuin on the forums by opening a .cs file and editing it slightly. However, this meant that the map and menus were slightly off and made things look smaller) ♦…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Top down action RPG-lite with a nice atmosphere, a range of weapons and items to pick up to improve your character, a few mission variants to do, although they mostly come down to either killing everything on each map, or killing almost everything on each map, and a reasonable variety of bad guys to take out where most of your enemies require different weapon preferences/tactics to deal with. The story has you as a Van Helsing style dispatcher of evil who gets letters from various parties who…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Larva Mortus, a top-down retro shooter, kinda like all of those flash games out there like Dead Frontier. You're playing as some kind of monster hunter, and you travel across the world to certain hotspots where monsters, ghosts, demons, werewolves, or whatever kind of evil have been causing trouble freely to end their mayhem spree. This game is a weird one. I know for a fact that people frequently disagree when it comes to this game, some say it's bad, some say it's pretty decent. My opinion?…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pretty boring and repetitive game really. There are much better top-down zombie shooters than this. Nation Red is one example. Story's kinda boring too. Too simple a game to recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is a good game buried deep, deep, somewhere in the decaying bones of Larva Mortus, but eleven years after its initial release, it's just not worth digging through the buggy rubble to find it. Back in 2009, I could understand favourable comparisons to the original Binding of Isaac. Trouble is, better games like BoI (while also better from the tip) have been revamped and supported over the years. This game, not particularly pretty to look at then, has really been left to rot. Things like…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remember getting this game from game giveaway of the day. That was years ago, and a while after that, I could not reinstall it since I had lost the installer (switched to a new computer and did not properly back up things). Years passed, and then I see that this game I REMEMBERED was on Steam. And what a surprise, the developers also had developed one of my favorite shooting games, Jets N Guns. Sure, why not? I remembered liking Larva a bunch back then. Well, this ain´t nearly as good…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game overall but beware the RNG god I got it on sale but if I knew its such a game I would even pay more. If you like top-down shooters, chances are you will like this game. Atmosphere is good, enemies aplenty, wide array of weapons to choose from and some RPG elements. Although there are some negatives, they are not as bad. Good game that keeps you occupied for a while... or longer if you try harder difficulty. + good music + atmosphere + better story than you would expect from such game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really underrated. It's a cool top down action shooter with some RPG elements. It tells an interesting story that's obviously inspired by classic horror stories à la H. P. Lovecraft. Except for some of the sprites, the graphics are very nice and athmospheric and there are various cool comic-style cutscenes. The only downside to the game is that there are some minor bugs that are fortunately not game breaking. And you have to make sure to configure your graphics-card to not mess up…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Brough the game as I had a 90% off coupon, worth the discount but not sure if it would be full price. Saying that so far i have enjoyed it and would reccommend if you want a fun game for 30-45minutes at a time that doesnt realy require any thought.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →★☆☆☆☆ Terrible! Action Repetitive. Very repetitive game, respawning enemies are incredibly weak. Overall the game is avarage and is lacking in several areas, but in the end not enough to say this game is not worth buying for action gaming fans, don't expect too much. Not worth it!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →solid top down demon shooter!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An enjoyable mashup of games like SmashTV and Diablo
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels really retro in a good way. Just a simple top-down shooter with an over-the-top theme. A few lighting bugs but played well otherwise. I'd wait for it to go on sale though.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Reminds me of good old CrazyMonkeydotcom days. It feels like one of those flash games that I used to play a lot when I was a kid. Simple top down shooter with a small plot. There is nothing much to it really. You can level up your skills, but it happens slowly unless you grind. There are only a few story missions that doesn't differ from infinite ammounts of sidequests. There are some visual glitches (rare and not annoying) and some bugs where monsters do not spawn where they are supposed to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring and very unoriginal. Nothing that you can't get in any typical flash game. 5/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lets start with this; the gameplay is really repetitive. At first is is pretty fun. Going around clearing rooms of spiders, bats, imps and other evil spawn. But after awhile the levels becomes expected which ruins the overall gameplay. T It feels rushed and unpolished as there are generally many small bugs, typos etc. A really frustrating part is when the enemies sometimes spawn outside of the rooms boundaries, making the level uncompletable (Unless you walk out of that room again, triggering…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll be honest, I was reluctant to play this game. Conceptually, it seemed pretty boring and the idea seemed dreadfully overplayed. At it's core, I really didn't want to like it. And then I played it. I'm not a fuge fan of overhead twin-stick shooters, but Larva Mortus did it right. In the whopping 3.8 hours I've played I must say it's very fun and pretty well balanced. The only problem that really bothered me is the levelling system. It takes a while to rank up (In my opinion, others may…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Larva Mortus ( Nice Name ) The game is short, you only need max 5 Hours to pass it, the dungeons are alot repetitive and the gameplay always the same, ingame you will hear the same music until the end of the Campaign XD True. The range of monsters or variety is good and the arsenal of waepons are good too ( Very vast indeed example: Crossbow, Dual Pistols, Cannon, Flamethrower - Burn those Bithes yes :) , Dynamite, Shotgun,Sword, and alot more but no magic spells :( . The story is one of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Serious Sam from the perspective of a bird but not as good but alright.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Classic game. Worth playing. Could be finished in 1 sitting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good Top-Down Shooter in the vein of Binding of Isaac and Smash TV. RPG mechanics bring leveling to the table, and collectibles give some equipment boosts as you find them. Short game, with artifical length due to the collectible problem. Generic Enemies with generic attacks, spooky images that pop up on you screen to give you the shivahs. Mostly fun. The only problem with this game is the acheivements. Trying to get all the items is very difficult due to the random nature of the drops and the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice arcade shooter. Creepy enviorment, great graphics, good leveling system, and awesome weapons! There are some minor glitches here and there but its overall a good game and worth spending money on. 9/10

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game doesn't run, regardless of reviews. Picked it up and it runs like the game is purposely trying to crash my computer... Is this a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ joke? I cannot believe that steam doesn't source the games and decide what's allowed. As it seems that given the name of the Dev is "Rake It In" games? this seems like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ thief placed it on the store and now is robbin folks of their money. ...Do Explain...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its like the 2D ketamine, its so good and adicting.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A simple horror game, it doesn't try to break the mold, and it doesn't need to; it can become repetitive, but as long as you get into the campy vibe, you will barely notice it. Some light rpg elements, requires a bit of experimentation, as some character building options are suboptimal while others are mandatory; the system is not deep in this regard, far from it. Music and graphics are ok, from a retro point of view. Some battles can be challenging, and choosing the right mission according…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked developer previous game (Troll) when I was kid, so I was looking forward to this. If you like random dungeon top down shooter games, you will like this one too. There are some light RPG elements and collecting of artefacts similar to Binding of Isaac. Story is cheese, so dont expect some amazing plot. Gameplay is funny, however, it is damaged by loads of bugs. Sometimes important monsters or even boss wont spawn, or some random lag kills you and you need to repeat whole level, If you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decently looking, but terrible game overall. Achievements are RNG based. There are only 11 different dungeon layouts. The story is weak. Gameplay is ridiculously repetitive. Sometimes enemies don't fully spawn, you can hear them, but can't see them - which results in an impossible to complete mission. This game thinks that Algeria is in Sweden.... or Greenland in Canada. Upgrade system is worthless + can't respec too. Nope. Nope. Noooope.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Feels more like some portable or mobile game than actual PC title - however that doesn't mean it is a bad game when price is right. The gameplay is so typical top-down shooter as the top-down shooter can be providing several enemy types, explosions and various weapons which all fit in your inventory just like in good old days when it wasn't limited in two. However, while gameplay is entertaining it falls flat rather too soon to be enjoyed much more than an hour or two and while the story is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is just an awesome game that is so fun to play, if you like The Binding Of Isaac you will love this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought it was the topdown arena shmup with metal music and was about to hopefully get a break in my "cleaning up my backlog" session. But apparently no it's not, or at least not anymore, instead it's that abomination: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1126755244 No pros. Cons + Gamepad (xbox) doesn't work. You can move, but you can't aim. + Non rebindable keyboard controls + limited ammo, and bullet sponge default zombie enemy + When out of ammo you have to run after…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I must say this game has something special not every game has. But I still think it's not better than every other game like this. I would recommend playing Gungeon or The binding of Isaac.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun, but why isn't it free browser based ?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a top-down shooter game with some character advancement elements that are very simple. The story is bland and in reality doesn't matter, as you just go from location to location and usually need to kill all monsters that are there. It was fun for about an hour for me, but as you can see in other reviews out there most people find this game pretty entertaining. Pros and cons: + many weapons to choose from + shooting is actually pretty fun - gets repetitive in about an hour - you gain…
