99 Levels To Hell
Developer Zaxis Games, B-evil
99 Levels to Hell is a roguelike platform shooter by Danish developer bom667 and published by Zaxis. The game has 100 levels which are randomly generated, and they are divided into 10 sections of 10 levels each. Death in a section sends players back to the beginning of the section rather than the beginning of the entire game. In the game, players assume the role of a wizard and start off with a shotgun until they… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

60 of 183 · most liked first99 Levels to Hell really does explain this game. There are 99 levels and boy...is it hell...I found myself being extremly annoyed with the controls of this game from the get go. Platformer where you aim with a second analog stick? Took me a while to get a hang of it. There is zero variety here either, the same enemies, the same weapons and items, all wearing very thin by the time you have played for over an hour. The bosses are even worse, they litterally just stand there and do nothing. I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I thought about this one quite hard - and I've come to the realisation that I would recommend this game, with a couple of caveats: - Do you like Roguelikes? - Do you like Twinstick shooters? - Are you a fan of THE METAL? If a resounding 'yes' to all the above, then HECK YES, go get this immediately. If not - I'd find it difficult to recommend, the controls are somewhat clunky, and the audio can get rather repetitive, and by the gods is it tricky to get into. But if you can put all that to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When you play this game you feel like you in an endless loops that you will never get out. Not to mention the ridiculous achievements. Yes, Its hell indeed. And I 100% this game during Halloween.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is ridiculously hard. Like Dark Souls, if you're a masochist, then this game might be for you. Unfortunately, that is not me. The bad: -- It's terribly difficult. -- Checkpoints are only after you beat the boss after every tenth level. -- Hearts are quite rare and easily lost. -- The controls and hit boxes are a bit wonky. -- Several of the enemies blend in to the background because of the color scheme or are just annoying in how they behave. -- Weapons and "symbols" (special ability…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I picked this game up because it was cheap and I thought I could fly through the achievements. I wanted something to play that I could pick up and put down easily. Within the first 10 minutes of gameplay the game bugged out and unlocked every dungeon. To think anyone would actually spend 100 hours on this game is insane. Tonight I decided to work on that last acheivement(Spend 100 hours in the dungeon). No umbrellas and no elevators, just a solid run through all 99 levels to hell. I finished…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its spelunky with a metal and hellish theme......awesome!! The game is really well done twinstick shooter with all the goodies of spelunky but with a awesome ost metel theme and creepy at time this is a indie game that you have to try if you have or plan on buying it's worth playing in my opinion and it will feel that rouge-like game style you are looking for so grab and play totally worth it!!!!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Please, someone tell me there are not actually 99 levels in this game. I seriously need someone to take time out of their day and confirm there are not 99 levels of this thing to get through. Twenty minutes was about all I could take, and that got me to the first boss on level 10. I mean, if there really are just shy of a hundred levels here, I'd be more than happy to tell you why that's a bad, bad, very bad thing. 99 Levels To Hell is a roguelike platformer about getting... to hell, I guess?…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I feel guilty for genuinely liking this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun and interatice game about dungeon exploring of Hell. Too bad it stood in my Library since 2015. EDIT: On level 66 the key was inside of the undestructable wall due to glitch. I literally lost my walkthrough because of that. And the levels have the same pattern, but with different textures for every 10 levels.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun 2D side scroller game. Worth every penny. Moreover, this game is free from bugs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →游戏可玩性很高,价格也比较实惠,值得入手一试
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Reasonably poor artwork, a lot of repetition in what is a very mediocre procedurally generated 2D platformer. Controls are very clunky, you need to unplug your HOTAS if you want to play, even if you deselect the use of controllers! A low effort entry in a low effort genre - most certainly not worth $5.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is nothing special. It's a somewhat simple platform shooter in which you run around killing monsters and looking for a key that opens the door to the next level, while also collecting loot in the form of gold, upgrades, or even special weapons and abilities. As the title says, there are 99 levels before reaching the final dungeon, Hell, in which you fight the devil itself. There's also boss fights every 10 levels, and each "pack" of 10 levels is an unique dungeon with its own theme.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do you want a nicely crafted rogue-like game with comfortable controls and the potential to spend around +100 hours just to beat all of it? Then this is NOT what you seek. Go get Spelunky instead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gets repetitive fast. The early charm wears off quickly, leaving a run that feels more like a slog than a roguelike.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Clunky, messy, 0 impact from your weapon over all, and on boss fights specifically. There are better games that do everything of what this game does but better. No normal soundtrack. Inability to plan anything; characters what you unlock are basically the same, except the weapon and HP; playing as them doesn't add anything to the base game loop.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Read the other negative reviews. :/ Not worth the energy to write another one, when so many other reviews do the job so well. Hard pass.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So where to begin. Yes I played through the game and got 100% but I kinda regret buying it. It's not completely a bad game but it gets boring real fast. I'll be honest because I'll never gonna play this game again. The idea behind this game is not a bad one but the stages get repetitive. What I like is the design because I think it's pretty and for every 10 Levels or so you get a new set of monsters. That is pretty nice. But all in all I still don't recommend this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this game in a trade basically as fodder for my library, but it did seem neat enough, and I always want to give games a chance. It is not as described though. It is not rogue-like. There is a SEVERE lack of variety in anything in this game, and it is far, FAR too easy. The mechanics are also extremely simplistic, which in my eyes can be done well, but that is not the case for this game. I liked very little about this game and would not recommend buying it. The music (or rather hushed…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They said the road to hell was paved with good intentions, not caked with the blood of my enemies. So many lies. 99 Levels to Hell is a rouge-lite platformer where you character is tasked with fighting his way through hordes of enemies across, well, 99 Levels. The levels are quick and your character moves responsively, but I found the early enemies predictable and not hugely challenging. 99 is quite similar to seminal rouge-lite spelunky but 99 is much easier and less of a rube-goldberg death…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Fun Rogue Like. Not the best, not the worst. Music and sound is amazing (i love heavy metal, which helps). Gameplay is fun but very same same. Very annoying that you can't change weapons once you have picked one up, and the controls feel a bit floaty. Powerups are few and far between, which ruins the fun of a bit. 6/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little time waster. Il keep it on my drive to play later.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →challenging but fun for only an hour or so. it feels like a flash game 3/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Game, Extremely Diffcult! Soundtrack Fits Prefectly!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a roguelike platformer, I got it as part of a bundle. I don't like time limits, end of level bosses, or platformers in general. I don't hold this against the game as that is just personal preference. I did enjoy playing it, despite getting annoyed by all the above, it's interesting to see what for powerup, or secret I'll discover next. The gameplay is done well, however the procedurally generated maps could use some more variation, as even in this video (link below) you can see similar…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fairly fun but it really does look like something out of newgrounds. I think I got this out of some bundle because otherwise it does not look like something I would normally buy. Bad platforming, fairly fun shooting while platforming, but it really does look like it would fit in a flash game of the mid 2000s.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is nothing as advertised. The only thing correct is the games name, there is 99 levels that are almost exactly the same where you fight really boring enemies that have serve no real threat to you while you try to find a key to the exit. the game has no replay value and is not fun in the slightest. The only time i got kind of excited (just to be let down) was when i got to the first boss and that wasnt even fun because the game is so poorly made that they just try to throw everything…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hard game so if you want to be better you have to spend a lot of time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't really get what everyone is fussing about... It's a wonky platformer/shoot'em up. It's fun for a few hours. If you want some fun for a few hours, get it in a bundle or on a discount, it's worth that much :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →99 levels to bad review
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is pretty fun until you've played through it once
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun, straight forward, 2d side scrolling, and dungeon crawling rogue-like complete with platforming and run-and-gun mechanics. Comes complete with a game save feature that keeps you from getting too burnt out on what could otherwise be a punishing and monotonous experience. The story, though short and to the point, is narrated pretty nicely. I recommend leveling your weapon of choice early on as trying to do some of the later levels can be a bit intense-to-impossibly frustrating.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rather be in hell, than playing this game!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It would have probably been more interesting if the graphics didn't look this ugly, and there was more than 5 rooms and 10 items. It's super long, boring, repetitive, and most ennemies are damage sponge. You can finish the game in an hour or so, and no tentation to play it again. (Before talking about my playtime, at least 30 hours (out of 38so far) is me being afk due to an achievement.)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Story: 7/10 - told in the story like an Audio book that you need to collect, it is actually intresting Combat: 7/10 - Click to shoot, right click for Bombs, but its still intresting Characters: 6/10 - multiple characters but they have no backstory Gameplay: 8/10 - Gameplay is average but well done World : 8/10 - most levels are intresting and you have a clear purpose Visual: 7/10 - some enemies are too small and plend in with the terrain, that makes it hard to see them Sound : 9/10 - The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hey everyone and this is my review about the game! This is a rogue-like spellunkyish game. Interface/Menu/Settings You are able to play the game with a controller. There are some resolution sizes available. You are able to play the game in fullscreen or windowed mode. There is a music slidebar available. You are able to toggle the Music. You are able to change the controls on the keyboard. About the game. You are a guy in a castle and you have to complete many random generated floors.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really loved playing this game, when I first saw it on Steam I was very interested in the name. The game is great though. It's a simple side to side blast em up game. You can get better by learning from mistakes and the patterns that your enemies form when they try and attack you. It's a simple game were you shoot baddies and decend each level of the dungeon. I highly recommend this game. I have a lot of fun with this one.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →99 Levels to Hell is so much fun, hours and hours of challenge and I normally don't play platformers at all. I really like this game and there is no way around it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They made this game fun and easy to play
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game, as it has everything a good game needs: controller support, achievements, platforms, demons, shotguns and roguelike-permadeath. However, everything it has, it does poorly. No atmosphere at all, bad sound effects. the game, just no. Happy I just payed 0.74 cents on this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Poor visuals, unimaginative gameplay, nearly no cohesive design philosophy. Pass on this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had more fun than the other comments led me to believe. A pretty good time for the price of a pair of undies.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…

The devil-op-meant of this game is luring, like a villians fishing hook. I am running to the Father! I hope this game gets a sequel, I wanted to write a review just so you could award me rewards and points. NINTENDO/NOFRIENDO. Conduct. 7/10 Hype. 99/100 Deal. 66/666 Dealing. 1/10 (It's hard to get excited about dealing with a game like this if I were to end up in heaven eternally, but hey, it's only…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sidescrolling roguelike with a handful of characters and variety of weapons and upgrades. A good bit of fun, but rather short.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It sounds like Spelunky with a Hell theme and more focus on ranged weapons but it just feels shoddy and isn't really fun.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Disclaimer, I am basing all my reviews on accessibility for the HOH/Deaf community. I will not review gameplay, controls, etc. There IS a story to this game, done through voiceover, without subtitles. I honestly found it by mistake, and it has no real sway over the game itself. Because 98% of any enjoyment you'd get out of this game is not affected by the incredibly seldom voice-overs, I'd give this a pass. If you are curious about the short story, google is your friend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think I don't really like this kind of game... This and Risk of Rain went dull too fast for me...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game couldn't possibly keep me interested enough to reach the 99 levels with the lack of quality involved. Feels and plays like a flash game than anything. It lacks life and that's really the theme of this game as you somehow progress on. That's actually what the developer might've expected from the player, is to go through 99 whole levels of nothing but a shallow attempt at a game. Pass.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Are you familiar with the free 2D games that you can play on Linux? That's exactly what this game feels like.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: --Good sound and music --Good controls --Good mechanics --Good weapons/abilities --Good visual effects Cons: --The bosses are difficult at the point of unfairness --Enemies blend in whith the background --You get a checkpoint only after you beat 9 levels and a boss 6.5/10-It's a good game but too difficult. DON'T BUY THE GAME AT 5€! It's not worth the money only if it's max 1€
