Unfortunately, the story in this game didn't pull me in at all. I couldn't sympathize with the characters at all and in general the story is very constructed and way too short to have any effect. Two and a half hours of playing time to finish this game is very little and it doesn't have any replay value for me either. This is…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR This game feels too short and too long simultaneously - too short because it seemed nothing had happened yet when the ending finally arrived, too long because none of its characters made me want to progress the story anyway. Its artstyle and soundtrack are strong, yes, but that's not enough to carry a game like this. It's like they take pride in being stubborn. This... I really, really wanted to like this game. Its premise sounded promising, and its artstyle looked pleasing.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A beautiful and original piece of interactive fiction that weaves the fates of people in three different time periods into an Inuit legend. I'd been looking forward to this game since the demo, and even more so since I read about the development process involving people from Inuit communities. I've become tired of "exotic" cultures being used for profit and misrepresented by outsiders, so I really appreciated that they made every effort to include those they were going to depict and give a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Both historical events and modern day cultural elements made the story interesting to follow. The game is also very well crafted, with an amazing art direction and music. Don't expect much challenge though, the game is purely narrative, with some very light puzzle elements. If that's your thing, it's a nice little game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Inua is an interesting game in so many ways, but the ending ultimately seems incomplete. We are left asking, "What happens next?" I also found Inua lacking as a point and click adventure game, which is how it is categorized in the store. There are some nice traditional puzzles, but those are few in number. Even how characters' thoughts are sequenced doesn't matter, even though this is described as a game where the player manipulates their minds. Gameplay in Inua is effectively a question of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →INUA: A STORY IN ICE AND TIME A point & click narrative supernatural adventure spanning multiple eras based the Franklin expedition in the Canadian Far North is currently 80% off on the eshop which is less than the price of a donut and a medium Double-Double
unlabelledView post →Inua - A Story in Ice and Time 2-3 hours to complete, Inua is a fun narrative game that follows three protagonists across three different periods of time, while you engage in a bit of time manipulation to share realizations and ideas between them to change the course of history. The story is centered around the real life disappearance of The Terror and The Erebus on the famously doomed Arctic exploration around 1846. While the wrecks were officially rediscovered in 2016 and 2014, the Inuit had…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is not bad itself: art style and setting of the story are quite interesting and uncommon in the space. Setting foot on an expedition across three generations, you are guided to find out what happened to the three explorer in the story. In an omniscient point of view, you click on their dialogue bubbles, explore little details of the scene and get to know how characters think about those details to progress the story. And that sums up pretty much of the gameplay. The game, from…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very compelling story. Liked the hint mechanic with the thoughts of each person about an object or idea.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let's get something out of the way first: this is a narrative experience and it plays more as a clever visual novel with (light) puzzle mechanics than as a "game" so if this is not your cup of tea, it might not be for you. This being said, I found the writing really good and was immediately drawn into the story. The switching between eras and the way the mystery is revealed little by little is very original and engaging. I wish there was more to the ending though as it felt a little rushed,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is beautiful with it's gorgeous art style and powerful, inspired music. But what really seduced me the most was following these intertwined stories, playing detectives across space and time. Discovering each moment and place is very satisfying. INUA puts the story front and center. Don't expect a hardcore gamer title but rather a well crafted game mixing history, myth and mysticism, all served by superb art, good voice acting and simple yet effective point-and-click gameplay. Highly…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm honestly blown away by this game. Not sure when I played such a great and touching story for the last time. It is relatively short, but still has a typical length for an indie game. If you enjoy narrative driven games and you are interested in stories about the high north and the inuit, this is a game for you. There are no braintwisting puzzles to solve, it's just a relaxing title where you discover hints in small scenes and use them in conversations to unfold the story. The voice acting is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The closest I found was Inua: A Story In Ice And Time. No Captain Crozier, but Graham Gore for a minute OR! In the same vein, The Pale Beyond, a fictional story about a ship beset. store.steampowered.com/app/1479890/...
unlabelledView post →such a short yet compacted story, makes me feel that I watched a good movie. The game is not too hard to play and all the achievements are easy to collect. If you enjoy visual novel this is a good game to purchase
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game's story isn't that bad but I wouldn't say it's that good either. Since this game only has the story as a reason to buy I can't really reccommend it. Also the artstyle isn't up my alley.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm sad that the game sold poorly. It's ambitious, and tries things I hadn't seen in a p&click game before. I've got some small issues - parts of the dialogue are awkward, there are some glitches when it comes to playing audio files, the "mind reading ambient" becomes rather annoying pretty quickly - but I felt like the general experience was pretty solid, especially the conclusion, and some of the visuals - mainly the tiny cinematics - looked great. I wish the devs all the luck with their next…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good, innovative spin on the the Franklin Expedition mystery. Great soundtrack, beautiful graphics and intriguing atmosphere. Played all of it in one session and didn't see the 3 hours pass by.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some things are better left Hidden Beautifully rendered dioramas, in a simplistic 3D style with interactive objects and tokens to find which progress the story. A story ultimately of 3 people with different origin stories, different times and completely different demons chasing them their entire lives. But who will die? Fire and Ice The story starts quite narrow in focus, at the beginning with a mutiny. And in a way it's a mutiny born out of fear that drives these 3 people to uncover the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →pro: -visuals -story (except the ending. Thats a bit underwhelming...) con: -controls -the "thoughts" should have been dubbed as well...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gorgeous little game! I feel like it's the perfect length, though the ending does feel a bit abrupt and in the moment was a smidge hard to grasp (though that could just be because I was strongly expecting it to go a certain way). There are some parts where you can bounce between storylines and do some time shenanigans, but it is still a linear game with no choices, which I didn't know going into it, but I think it makes sense. The art is beautiful, the voice acting is a delight. Love that I got…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →okay, umm first of all I love this game, such a hidden narrative gem for me. I can't even believe it only has 45 review on steam. it is quite a surprise on how the story went from where it started. so maybe it's also why people that expect a franklin expedition type of story are leaving quite a disappointed review on this game. I as a person can relate and at the same time quite annoyed with the characters towards the ending of the story. for me that is a sign that I am hooked on the story. so…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a quick 2-hour point and click narrative game with a beautiful interweaving of different timelines all encompassed by one greater story. It all comes together so beautifully at the end, and the gameplay mechanics are simple and intuitive. Highly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A neat little narrative experience with a distinctive artistic vision And it has a polar bear!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →OK admittedly I have a horse in the race here, as the devs are good friends. But still, I can tell you this game was a great experience for me. Aesthetically, it's amazing. The art is great, with a stunning use of colors and a progression throughout the story that adds to the scenario's tension. The music is also a huge boost to the mood, bringing us to places I never thought I'd visit - eerie, chilly places! Gameplay wise, it's smart and simple. You might scratch your head at times, but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice visual style, innovative adventure game mechanics, lovely music, and a very unusual ending which leaves you contemplating. On the negative size, the characters get really flat towards the end. Which makes you contemplate the idea behind it all even more, so maybe not so negative in the end. I wish there were more variations in the outcomes and choices.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neat little game with nice art, and perfect for when you're a little too tired for focus or action...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros - Looks beautiful - Fantastic voice acting, fairly large cast of actors. - Some really nice music - Simple to play, can be played entirely with the mouse including exiting the game. Note the game-play here is just clicking to advance the dialog and a few clicks on points of interest, all to advance the dialog and story. So its really just a visual novel in the truest sense. There are no puzzles of any kind. - Interesting story and very well told, although I'll admit I'm not really sure…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Inua was a peaceful and pleasant game that I played on my tablet via Remote Play while sitting in my backyard after being told I should go enjoy the nice weather. Playing this game felt like simply reading a book. It has a strong atmosphere and an interesting story that kept me invested throughout. I especially liked learning about the three main characters and seeing how their stories connected. My biggest issue was the ending, which felt underwhelming and incomplete. It almost feels like the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful game and soundtrack. I enjoyed the historical aspects of this game. The game did feel too short though, there should've been more before it ended so abruptly.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a sucker for tales of the Canadian arctic, so this one is an easy recommend if you share my enthusiasm for such things. Inua is (essentially) a cross between a visual novel and a point and click adventure, where you are introduced to characters and scenes and then by finding certain objects you can open up the thoughts of the characters and then unlock further dialogue/thought options, and thus progress through the scenes and the story. There is no real choice involved and no…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, I search Steam for Inua - A Story In Ice And Time and it has a blue box on it I can't remember if it's wishlist or library. I assume wishlist, because of course. I can't buy it. It's IN LIBRARY! It must have come in a bundle. I don't recall watching the little video, but I would have yelled

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredible storytelling, beautiful art, and a simple yet rewarding play style! Picked this up because i was a fan of AMC's The Terror, and really really enjoyed this. Lots of similar themes explored but in an entirely new way.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game literally changed the way that I think about the past. Emotional, engaging, satisfying. The art is simple and beautiful. The voice acting is amazing, the story writing is one of the best I've ever seen. It weaves legend and reality together in the best way. Unforgettable.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very beautiful and meaningful narrative experience!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game should have more reviews than what it has currently at the time this is written. This game has a truly lovely art style that exhibits the Inuit legend that it's portraying. It was great to hear more about the Franklin expedition, and having different perspectives was an intriguing and worthwhile endeavor. The voice acting was truly solid for the most part. While some gave riveting performances, others did sound wooden and non-expressive unfortunately. I also found that the audio…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a gorgeous gorgeous little game!! definitely recommend if you're interested in this historical event esp from an Inuit perspective
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the few games that i cant recommend enough. the story is instantly engaging and the information search is actually interesting, despite going back and forth between the same characters in some scenes, it never manages to feel tedious. I dont think i need to mention how rare that is. Its definitely worth the price, even if its not on sale. Its a fun ride with an interesting end and easy achievements, whats not to like?

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Inua is a serious game with deeps historical roots as we investigate what happened to the Franklin's Expedition of 1845. As we interact with characters from present and past we get a deeper knowledge of what transpired. I really liked that Indigenous voices are heard as well as Inuktitut. This is one of the highlight of this game as both 19th century white men and Inuit had to cooperate.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It really is a beautifully crafted game! Story seems compelling and the mechanics are quite smart to allow for cruising it at a good pace. A very cosy game too. I recommend it to narrative game lovers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I might be biaised because some friends of mine worked on the game, but this game is beautiful, its story well-told, and it's not so often you hear inuktitut voice-acting in a video game (or anywhere, really). Don't expect complex puzzles, it's more of a story you can unfold at your own rythm. I'm very proud of my friends.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An interesting story about the intertwined fates of three people throughout history, leading each to a singular obsession to a location deep in the wilds of Canada. An interesting take of Canada's local history with Inuit story telling, giving us a view of the local culture and interaction between westerners and the Inuit and how such has consequences on the land and its myth. The art style is told in a minimalist water colour palette which is quite pleasing, the dialogue is also well done by…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I found this game by chance while browsing Steam. I was just looking around, and then the trailers hooked me. I don't regret buying it. This game feels like a reflection of ourselves. It made me think about how we can become too confident in our ability to understand and control things we don't truly know. A clear and noble goal can become distorted when we cross boundaries, especially when we want to achieve something we don't truly understand. I really love the art style, the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very cool "mechanic" in a point and click game very pretty! some eye-candy storytelling music vocalizations are interesting, they remind me of LAIKA a bit with the shamanistic traits ARTE France my beloved
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i love the terror and the erebus and im incredibly biased, so. i was never going to NOT like the franklin expedition video game. i love the art style and the music and maybe this isn't the most well-crafted game but i do like it an awful lot. #mypolarbear
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →psychological ♥♥♥♥, little playable
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Inua has a great little story, and most of the characters are interesting enough to make you want to keep playing to the end. There are some gameplay elements as well, that keeps player engaged, such as needing to activate tokens to unlock new conversations.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very unique game, a true 'narrative adventure,' which means it's more of a story you watch unfold than a challenging game, but still very enjoyable nonetheless! This game portrays what it means to be human, with both the good and the bad, including the pride and the prejudice... I wish there were multiple endings and that our choices matter more, but I guess sometimes you just have to meet your fate! Also, as a linguist, I really loved hearing inuktitut :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →VERY, VERY FUN! p.s also fun for people who like history and fantasy! three time peroids, 50's, 1830's, and today!
