This is almost a good game... almost. It's a point and click game game without the pointing and clicking, instead you you walk with A and D. And this is where the first problem arises: The controls. You walk at a snails pace which means you have to hold shift at all times to run. Throwing stuff with F is also quite clunky as you have to hold A D again to get the direction. Here is the voice line you are gonna hear the most in the game: "oh no! You died!" It's like limbo, you are constantly…

WARNING ! This game is NOT an adventure game, but a platformer game, that requires quite a lot of keyboard dexterity, So bear that in mind, before you buy it. Furthermore there are no manual saving, meaning you have to start a level over again and again.

I got hooked on the concept from reading about the game and watching the trailer, but unfortunately, I did not enjoy playing the game. I like that you can peek into a different time period from the one you're in, as a way to scout out dangers, but in practice this doesn't always work well, as some dangers move quickly, and it also means that making a full switch often takes too long to be able to react quickly when you do wind up in immediate danger. There have also been several chase…

You need to be aware that this game ends on a cliffhanger. All questions you may have about the plot won't be answered in this game, so we should expect a great perhaps 2 in the future... The Great Perhaps is a side scrolling game with adventure game elements. I liked the time travel idea between two timelines and exploring the different changes in the world in the two was fun. I found the art style beautiful (which was my main reason to purchase the game), but the English voice over was…

A decent little platformer game but with some quirks: -English translation is a little off. -Voice acting is pretty bad. At least they could do is run the AI's voice through some kind of filter instead of just having them try to sound like what they think a robotic voice will sound like. -For being a platformer, the character movement (both visually and responding to key press) is not very good. -They don't explains some of the game mechanics very well. I.E. You are not aware there is a time…

I like puzzle games and dystopian themes so I bought this game on sale. For that price (2.5 euros) this is a meh game. The art style is nice, but the gameplay is quite bad: - the controls are confusing: using an item can be either E key or F key, depending on the throwability of the item - you carry one item only, which does not fit in the story. - autosaves only: there are trial and error styled puzzles, but you can not save before you try something, you have to do long sequences again…

Before I write my first-ever review, let us get one thing straight. I'm a 90s kid. I grew up playing Super Nintendo, Sega and Dendy. Times were good back then, you know? I had no responsibilities, school was easy, and girls — simple to understand. What else would a regular boy want? Time has passed, however. Games got more advanced and the world's gone way too complicated. For years I've been eager to play a video game that would remind me of my careless childhood — full of joy, adventures and…

Good premise, good ideas (especially, the time-travelling puzzles are pretty neat), but ultimately a letdown. What sunk my boat as early as the 2nd chapter is that the controls are INFURIATING. I mean, really??? If an object drops next to an interactable element, good luck spending 10 minutes trying to pick it up again because the game will prioritise the interaction over the object, and the interaction field is very wide. This plays like a bad video game from the 90's, or a bad beta version. My…

I like this game conceptually; an astronaut wakes up in the far future and needs to find out what happened on Earth...but in execution it just becomes a short and monotonous mess. I think it would had benefited greatly if it had been a point and click game... instead the developers went for this gameplay where you need to switch timelines, which sound great in theory, but the "switch" is timed, leading to alot of unfair deaths when it switches and you land on a pit or another instant death…

The Great Perhaps has an alright artstyle and an interesting premise. The puzzles are super easy, to the point it makes the game boring and not challenging. It actually wouldn't be a bad game if the controls were responsive. Although I'm not going to fight the controls to play it. Not recommended

In game menus are missing, something the developer is aware of and apparently fixed, but their publisher won't publish, so you'll be stuck trying to navigate that issue. Otherwise, the story isn't horrible, puzzles aren't too bad, just a shorter game with some attempts at being philosophical

Puzzle game where you switch between the past and present, though the puzzles are simple to solve and frequently buggy. Throwing items is an important part to solving puzzles and the 'switch' from past to present happens automatically, there is also an annoying bug where if an item is thrown as the world changes from past to present the item thrown doesn't start the needed cutscene. Thrown items can be out of reach or disappear afterwards which softlocks the game until you restart or find a way…

Pros no annoying dialogue apart from the beginning sequence great animation style future-past concept executed well with the lantern all the right elements for a good plot Cons there is hardly any interaction with the environment which is a shame because it's so inviting and intriguing soooooo slow - no way to speed up the character and he's very one-dimensional, just left and right I played for over an hour and the puzzle element just seemed to be mostly timing-based gameplay that requires…

Don't bother with this title, here's why. When Daedalic drops a new title, I buy - especially when it's marked to be an adventure game, because that's what they do best. And next to titles like Deponia, Edna & Harvey, Dark Eye, Pillars and The Whispered World, this new game sounded pretty exciting! Except.. The Great Perhaps falls flat, where all these other titles shine. The voice acting is dull and robotic, the story is unimaginative and overdone, the mechanics often end up feeling…

I actually liked the overall chill & pondering of life vibe of the game. Had some major issues with keyboard functions, I use a wireless one & it normally does fine. But for the apartment scene, I had to get up & use my laptop keyboard to only get a marginally result, it was really frustrating. But the biggest reason I'm giving this game a thumbs down is the ending. You don't find out the cause of the disaster, you find out the reason why you can travel to the past, but not why the world ended.…

Pretty disappointed with the game. Probably the only good thing about this game is the art style. Even then if you care for this art style. Everything else is less than stellar. The story is garbage. Also game struggles with the identity. Is it a platformer? Is it a puzzle adventure? The controls in the game is very bad when you have to do some more elaborate moves other than moving right and left. Puzzles are almost non-existent. Interesting 2D adventure game with decent puzzles for one or two evenings. The music and visual design of the game is very pleasant. It's kind of a 6/10 - art style surely carries it, but every other factor is lackluster. Game is about 4 hours long, but youtube has a playthrough of 1 hour (skipping dialogue, knowing solutions) - sadly a good half of that 4 hours is backtracing "puzzles" or dying from unavoidable/unexpected threats. Jumping and throwing work like you're on the Moon. Animations are just.. lazy. At points when dying into pits the game didn't even bother to let me fall out of the screen, I just stopped on a…

Not recommended. This game looks pretty promising, but doesn't really deliver in my opinion. It's about time-traveling obviously. Betraying the expectations on this kind of games, the mechanics have very little cause-and-effects between different time periods (other than in one particular map). The gameplay itself is pretty time-based though. A lot of puzzles need good timing on switching between time periods and some action to solve. This is easily one of the most boring games I've played in a long time. It's a strange mixture where the unique elements really only serve to make the game more tedious. The background artwork and the story were the only things that kept me playing to the end. I don't think I'd ever replay this game, in fact, I'd probably like it more if it was shorter. For a game like this, you need to have: (a) good voice acting (or no voice at all); (b) good art and animation. None of these are well executed in the game. What's left is gameplay which is unimpressive at best and essentially a long fetch-quest.

Voice acting was OK, the art-style was nice and I guess its technically quite impressive but the game-play was frustrating at times; unfortunately quite a lot of the puzzles rely on speed and dexterity rather than intelligence. More checkpoints would have been nice. Its also quite short, quite a lot of my game time was leaving the game running.
