positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forgotten Fields is yet another narrative masterpiece from the developers of Rainswept. It features a heavy focus on self-reflection and the passage of time, as well as the importance of family and friends. The story is told seamlessly, and I was captivated from start to finish. Despite not having a high budget, Forgotten Field's manages to make up for it with its atmospheric soundtrack and brilliant ability to express a story in such a creative manner. Similar to the developer’s previous game,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely little story game and i enjoyed every tiny bit of it. You're playing a guy called Sid (and partly also his fictional character...No spoilers!) who's spending his time doing basic daily life things, reliving old memories and gathering new ones. Meeting friends, helping neighbours, meeting family members. All regular stuff, and doesn't seem to be so interesting, but what made it really intresting for me was the way of storytelling and the really beautiful artstyle. The developers…

Forgotten Fields engages the audience in a lot of self-reflection by the interactions between the protagonist Sid and his family and friends. It involves careful reading of the dialogue to get the most out of this title, and there is no voice acting. There are some gameplay elements with some running around, doing fetch quests, tackling…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved Rainswept so I had high hopes for Forgotten Fields. For me, it fell short in a few areas. You control Sid - a 20-something guy with a deadline and a case of writer's block. His mother is selling the family home and he is at that cusp in life where each of us recognizes that we are going to have to be a grown up. Much of the story and dialog is between a set of friends who are about to step out into 'real life,' each in their own direction. In parallel, Sid is writing a story about a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forgotten Fields is a good story and an ok game. The game discusses the topic of our past vs our future, and does a decent job, although the writing is clearly done by a non-native English speaker, if that matters. The game itself has some definite problems. The camera is awful, whether in the story or the story-within-a-story. The controls and object hitboxes are not good. The inventory system is not well designed (and can't be rebound). There are a number of graphical issues…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Could have been a Postcard A pretty postcard mind you, but 3 hours later all of the really good scenes are spoiled by a rather flat ending. A lot of this game feels incomplete, because it has it's moments where either the story is interesting, or the graphics are telling the story very well. And that's why I don't think Forgotten Fields lives up to it's name, it's a story about memories, but it's also a story about futures. It just cannot make it's mind up what it is. Forgotten fields has a…

unlabelledView post →A delightful insight into a writer’s creative process. Despite some issues with glitches and controls, the game has incredible art, soundtrack and a story that’s bound to be relatable to those of us who exercise our creativity. Video review at the end! For some of us, creativity is like a candle. You light it up, and the flame burns bright, lighting the entire room around it. You revel in said light - I mean, how could you not? - and you feel motivated to do everything there is to be done… up…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is pretty, however there are lots of glitches in it and it made my experience not as enjoyable, as well as the awkward movements and controls that happen from time to time. Glitches aside I enjoy the soundtrack and atmosphere this game gives.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really enjoying my time with Forgotten Fields so I thought I'd write a quick review. So far I love the art direction, cutscenes feel really cinematic and it has a vibe reminiscent of slice of life indie films which I really enjoy. The writing is great, characters feel like they have their own personalities and the interactions with them are fun and playful. The soundtrack is INCREDIBLE, really, really compliments the overall themes of the game. Puzzles so far are interesting and not frustrating…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3hrs long. This is a story about a novelist who is having a nostalgia crisis. It's "OK". It's very wordy and almost like it's a partial life story of the developer (which isn't a bad thing - don't get me wrong), but there are sequences where you may end up just clicking through text because it's just not interesting or engaging. If you like interactive stories, go for it. If you're not one for stories, don't bother.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some of the worst writing and dialogue I've sat through in a while. The fantasy novel....it's rough, man. Really janky gameplay too.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good idea and the music is great but the gameplay simply does not work as well as the writing. I did not enjoy the first half hour of the game and let's be honest, with such a title you have like the attention of the first 15-30 minutes of the player to convince him that the game is worth the time. Not for me. Controls are confusing. UI is unclear and dialogues, writing is not engaging. Less is more.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forgotten Fields is a very good adventure game with a beautiful story, some nice designs and a relaxing ambiant. I highly recommend it!!! 💗💗💗
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are reading this review I truly cannot recommend anything other than playing this game. It is short and is best played during a single sitting, it took me 4 hours and it was one of the best gaming experiences I've ever had. The sound track and story telling are both superb. At times the graphics are mediocre but throughout the course of the story there will be dozens of moments where you will be amazed by the beauty of the game. My complaints are miniscule in comparison to everything I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm really sad to rate this poorly. I am a big fan of narrative story games and I love supporting indie developers...but half of this hour of gameplay was spent staring at the pause menu, contemplating whether I hated myself enough to keep playing. Ultimately, even with the amount of self-hatred I deal with daily, I still could not bring myself to play anymore of this game. The amount of bugs (easily and repeatedly getting out of the game's boundaries and being forced to reload an old save,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful gem of a game. It made me relive my younger days and fondly reminesce about home. The soundtrack and look and feel are unique. The only con is that the game is a bit short- it took me under 90 minutes to complete. But definitely worth a try once!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing this game reminded me of Goa and life in a dreamy beach town. The art is beautiful, and the story is engaging and the soundtrack really wraps it all together.

Players must visit old friends, relive memories and help Sid with his writer’s block! Forgotten Fields is a cosy and casual game about nostalgia and moving forwards. It offers two engaging narratives, an engaging and relatable protagonist, uniquely stylised artworks and a mesmerising and varied soundtrack. Overall, it has a lot…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An acquaintance of mine mentioned this game. I don't really know how to leave a proper review, so I'll simply start by saying I enjoyed this game. The game itself is very simple in what it asks you to do and how to interact with others. The controls are a bit clunky and there are few bugs here and there, but that wasn't a big issue where it prevented me from continuing the game. There are two stories in this game. The story of the main character and the character in the story he is trying to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice atmosphere and dialogues, not nice controls. This game is very relatable if the passage of time has a great effect on your thinking and feelings. Basically if you are interested in the theme you will love it, otherwise it will be pretty frustrating. Positive: - Very good, nostalgic music and scenes - Good characters and dialogues - Pretty great ending Negative: - Camera/controls/collisions can be annoying sometimes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →-Beautiful artwork and lovely, colorful environments. The ocean waves particularly, at the beach scene, are drop dead gorgeous, some of the most lovely I've ever seen. Unique art style in the game. -No voice narration, but as long as you read the easy-to-view dialogue boxes you'll be fine. Actually having no narration makes one pay attention MORE, I think. -The control scheme (and I'm playing only with mouse/keyboard on a desktop PC) is functional, but awkward; to me the controls are the only…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recommend Forgotten Fields to narrative fans who don't mind a shorter experience. Forgotten Fields is the second game from Frostwood Interactive, coming on the heels of Rainswept, a murder mystery that was less about solving a murder and more about celebrating the lives and stories of the victims. Like Rainswept, this game is a game about people and their stories more than anything. The game uses a vibrant, nostalgic palette and has a good soundtrack to help sell the story. In Forgotten…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Story is the biggest plus point.Graphics are also good for such games. Down side is there are not enough directions what to do next sometimes you are lost,Game progress is also little slow (because of too many dialogues to read) so may be not for everyone. Here is the Gameplay https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCIBrF10kHc
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the story, visuals, music- everything. A masterpiece. Now Forgotten fields is one of my favorite story telling game. I love the cinematic shots and the way developer shows the struggle of a writer and the bonding between his characters. There's a mood of nostalgia throughout the gameplay. I would rate 10/10. Great work!!

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the most contrasted game I've played for a long time. There are abysmal flaws : a lot of technical issues, constant clipping, camera issues, framerate drops and stutter for a very basic game, very janky controls and mini games, and most of all... the "writing" part of the writing (by that I mean, the in-game book the character is writing) is so terrible that I'm suspecting it's intentional for some kind of meta humor. If not, jesus... And yet, there are a lot of qualities. The…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know what but this game offers something really unique... A unique feeling, that I haven't felt in a long-long time through video games. Somehow it made me dwell on my childhood memories... One should definitely try it out! 🎈
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was pleasantly surprised by this game. It may look rough around the edges visually, but just about every other part is done very well. The writing, the overarching story and the meaning behind said story, the sounds and music, are all very nice. Definitely recommended for people that enjoy slower games with heavy story focus.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forgotten Fields is a fairly relaxing walking sim where you play an ennui-ridden twentysomething with writer's block. He's all wrapped up in nostalgia and sadness over growing up and not quite ending up in the life he imagined. During the course of the day you visit family and friends in beautiful surroundings and reminisce about the past and ponder the meaning of life. None of it is super-insightful, but it is familiar - they're emotions that most everyone has experienced at some point in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Existential Musings of 20-somethings is not something I particularly relate to, but I appreciated what this game was trying to do. It's short, it's sweet, it has a clear point of view, told in interesting ways. Now, to some particulars: + The environments, especially the outdoors, and just the general atmosphere are remarkable. One of the best visual representations of the ocean I've ever seen in a videogame. - The human characters are a little too nondescript. It's absolutely an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Backed on kickstarter. A nice piece of interactive fiction-universal sentiments of being a twenty something as life sets in and people drift apart, with an interesting setting of a coastal indian town. The writing isn't mindblowing, but it also isn't clumsy like a lot of earnest indie games are. Unfortunately the way the game is programmed means the interactive bits aren't actually fun to go through, moving through space is buggy and kind of annoying at times, but if you can fight through that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly one of the most unexpected golden cosy games i have played. - The dialogue and approachable -non-cringe philosophy of acceptance of the transience of time was perfectly balanced with the alignment of morals, laughs and sentimentality within the story-telling. Now, my computer is traaash but the graphics are very unique, it's pretty but there is a bunch of scuffed visual glitches and the movement is all kinds of getting stuck, but overall highly recommend getting a few cups of tea and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lovely Ideas, Rather Too Many Sharp Edges Forgotten Fields is exactly the sort of narrative adventure I ought to like. Sid, a struggling writer heading back to his childhood home before it is sold, is a good setup for a reflective story about nostalgia, memory and creativity, with occasional excursions into the fantasy tale he is trying to write. And I genuinely wanted to know where it was going. Unfortunately, the game seemed equally determined to make me stop wanting to find out. The…

Pros + Interesting blend of real life situation and fantasy intertwining for a narrative + Nice colour palatte and whimsical feel + The nostalgia angle was nice, but under-performed (Try Venba for a better take) Cons - Very linear story line, without any real major developments -…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the themes, dialogue and story of this game. Effort has been put into some parts to make them feel more cinematic, but unfortunately the controls are so clunky and there are hidden walls in places that made getting around really difficult. The swimming section was awful, you cant turn or adjust your view. I would get dragged into the story then immediately lose my immersion once the clunky controls were back. I think the story is worth the clunkiness, but I would love to see the devs…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good little story game, not really that much to it, few things you can do and interact with but its a lot more of an experience. Visually looks very nice and is overall pretty neat. The only issue I really had was the animations, they're very buggy and clipping through stuff very often and it takes you out of the experience a bit unfortunately. Also for such a simple looking game it should run great but at times the performance does take some dips so could use a bit more optimization. The game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A neat game about finding your own path and gaining inspiration from the people and events around you. Sid is working on a new story idea during a final visit to his childhood home, and it's fun to see the two intersect as the events of his day affect the direction he wants to take the story. The game is a little wonky to control, and sometimes the characters wax poetic for a little too long, but those are my only complaints - the game was otherwise quite enjoyable!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall the game is very pretty. The ocean particularly was very breathtaking. However, the rudimentary animations and plethora of errors that resulted from them broke my immersion way too much to enjoy. The story is great, if a little text heavy at times. For the rest of the gameplay, sometimes knowing what to do is difficult if you missed even a single box of text. There's nothing reminding you what your task is, and especially in the house scene towards the end, its almost impossible to find…

No matter your age you will be able to relate to this game. I am truly honored to be one that played this game. If this game ever goes up for awards it could easily walk away with a couple.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forgotten Fields despite being simple w/ a nice soundtrack, was an awful experience on the gameplay front; due to frequent movement, camera, dialogue, audio & input reading related issues alongside immersion breaking bugs that created nauseating cutscenes, softlocked save files and to end my playthrough involuntarily, hardlocked save files that cause you to restart the story. Bugs appeared from the start of the game such as being stuck in multiple cinematics, clipping into geometry and a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forgotten Fields is yet another narrative masterpiece from Frostwood Interactive, far too overlooked. Like its predecessor Rainswept, the game focuses heavily on writing and atmosphere, this time exploring themes of time, memory, and the importance of family and friends. It's a "cosy" experience, yet still deeply thoughtful, and I was captivated from start to finish. The dual narrative structure, alternating between the ordinary life of a struggling writer and the fantasy world of his own…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Time waits for no man. Artistically it's great and can see the love the dev put into the setting. Writing is good. However there will be ample technical issues and wonky controls as you roll through it. I enjoyed it generally speaking but you will have to work through the jank at times and busted clipping as some areas are a bit rough. Save often as you can accidently break the game if you're skipping through cutscenes and it can randomly soft lock certain parts. Still it's worth a look…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While this game has an interesting storyline, a pretty visual style and a nice soundtrack, the execution is really sad. The characters keep clipping through objects and walls, controlling the characters is not smooth, the camera sucks, the models are many times hovering above ground, render issues, no facial animation, very basic character design, etc. There are loads of glitches in this game, and the puzzles are not very interesting either. Thus, this could have probably made a better film…

Rainswept packs full of amazing cinematic moments, a crime story has a fine twist, a solid plot, very plausible, mature and relatable story. It's a truly mesmerizing experience.
