60 of 96 · most liked firstI recently completed all four games in the 1000 doors series, and this one was my least favourite. I like the new gameplay mechanics added in this game, such as the use of the cat, and other tools, but there is a lot wrong with everything else. For a game released in 2018, the rendered cutscenes are an awful quality. It breaks the immersion and it's painful to watch. The voice acting is awful, for example, a Yeti that sounds like they hired some random person off the street to voice it. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did enjoy the game. It is a solid HOPA with variety of puzzles, special features and a cat that is your helper. I didn't encounter any bugs and issues unlike players from other reviews. PROS: * Solid 4 hours of gameplay * Beautiful graphics * Good music * Interesting plot * Bonus chapter * Variety of puzzles from very easy to more challenging ones * Right amount of HO scenes * Quite dynamic * Not too much backtracking (and you have an interactive map) Cons: * Really annoying voice and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very buggy. I was unable to continue an HO because the game no longer recognized/responded to clicks, so I couldn't get any further in the game. It also glitched several times when clicking on an interactive item - the boxes would open with flashing lines across the entire window, after which it could take closing it several times before it could be interacted with. It's too bad, the game itself seemed fun, as far as I got; but now I'm stuck with an unplayable, unrefundable (too many hours :\ )…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For me it´s the weakest part. Sadly they have changed so much that the series has lost its charm. But it´s still a good point and click adventure :D Es ist der schwächste Teil. Leider haben sie so viel verändert, dass die Serie ihren Charme verliert. Trotzdem ist es ein gutes Wimmelbild :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →*Contains spoilers* Let me start by saying I LOVE the House of 1000 Doors series. Nothing can ever beat the first one, but the second and third were excellent as well. Now to talk about the fourth. While the characters had a huge ramp up with their graphics and design, the rest of the game was a crash and burn failure, totally not up to par with the first three. Not only was the game enormously bugged with glitches in almost every other scene, the cut scenes were terrible quality, you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’d probably go with a mixed review if I could. This game is the fourth in the series for House of 1000 Doors. Like the others in this series, this game has some good points, such as the instant travel map and the built-in walkthrough. However, there is a lot of pixel-hunting and I didn’t like the new mini-games, so I’ll go with a thumbs down. This game introduces a new protagonist and some new game mechanics. No additional games have been made in this series, so apparently the changes weren’t…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I quite like the first 3 games in the House of 1000 Doors series with the 3rd game being my favorite in the franchise, even though the games aren't anything great, they were just fun, simple, short games, and I enjoyed them! However, the 4th game in the series is not very good. While it's certainly not awful, it's definitely the worst of the 4 and the only one I personally don't recommend. Let's start off with the things I actually like about this game. The gameplay is probably the best in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the House of 1000 Doors. But not this one so much. It is not like the first two that I bought. The HOBs are not self explanatory nor do they tell you what to do. You have to use the hint button.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The weakest of the series. Developers changed up the format from helping ghosts trapped in between worlds to some evil virus you have to shoot with light guns. The bonus chapter was the worst part of the game. You have to defeat the evil virus blob monster by clicking on matching symbols, but the game is laggy and glitchy so if you don't have split second timing, you get a large rock thrown right at your face/screen over and over. Broken Sword 3 taught us that those kinds of puzzles are never…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're a casual player of hidden object games, then skip this one. It's far too frustrating for the casual player. It looks like it should be good -- it has decent story, art, and music -- but the gameplay ruins it. PRO: + Decent story (typical for a hidden object game, but enjoyable nonetheless) + Good artwork + Good music CON: - Many Interactive areas (which are necessary to progress) do not change the cursor, so you have no idea you can interact with them until you start randomly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →do not waste your money on this game its nothing like the other three 1000 doors series I DID NOT GET IT FOR FREE THANK YOU
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Issue with HOG in wine cellar.... unable to pick up last cork?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is an ok hidden object game. It was a bit sparse on the hidden object scenes and it did drag on a bit to me, but I wasn't too bad. Works without any issues on Linux with Proton (5.13-5).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is top rung on the "Mountain Crime: Requital" scale~!! A fun tromp through the game's worlds. I enjoyed playing this game. The bonus game is more like the traditional Hidden Object game, but the main game is still just as fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The fourth in the House of 1000 doors series. This game was just bad, It is a shame, because I was really looking forward to playing it. I loved the previous games. So disappointed. Too many things wrong with the game. Can't be bothered to list them. Game not worth
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A couple of years ago I played House of 1000 Doors: Family Secrets (2011) through discord with a couple of friends and LOVED it. Since I just beat a game, I have decided to dive into House of 1000 Doors: The Palm of Zoroaster, and just booting it up has put a smile on my face.
unlabelledView post →A really cool game. Its a complete change of pace from the original in terms of graphics and mechanics, but pretty well made. They took a great risk in changing the whole game but they did it pretty well. The graphics and the puzzles where good, there is a little graphics bug in the bonus chapter but nothing too bad Still it feels good that they ended this series while it still has its essence. The story is mostly like the other parts but this is the whole point in the house of thousand doors.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While good, this entry in the House of 1000 Doors series is quite different from its predecessors. The graphics have been updated, the puzzles and hidden object scenes made easier, and the voice acting quite a bit better. However, I find the game rather short and somewhat disjointed at points. The story DID keep me going, for a bit, but it lost steam about 3/4 of the way through. Still, I would recommend this to any fans of the series or Hidden Object Adventure games in general.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my favorite genre, and I've played 100s of these games. With this one, I was constantly hitting the Hint button. I'm not shy of hitting the Hint button, but I hope I don't have to do it too often. Maybe I'm just an idiot with this particular game, but I often couldn't fathom what to do next (within the amount of effort I normally want to expends on these rather mindless games). Others may enjoy it. It has all the usual features. it was bright and colorful. Someone has a pretty wild and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really buggy. The flickering of the screen really takes the fun out of it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a sad thing to say, but Ho1kD4: Evil Inside is a massive step backwards for the series. It's such a shame because I enjoyed this franchise from the first game. When I booted up this fourth game and saw it was the first to presented in native widescreen, I was filled with high hopes. As I played, I realized that this game had so much less heart and effort and creativity put in it than any of the previous three games. Let's start with the things I liked, such as the gorgeous art and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bad in every way except pretty cool environments. And some of the voice actors sound familiar? Can't find info though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really enjoyed this game, graphically much more advanced than the previous House of 1000 door games, same excellent characters, puzzles, and a twist to the stand HOG 'locate an item' sections. I've seen people complaining about bugs, but I didn't come across any, so this was good. Only thing I was disappointed by, was there is an additional 'find the evil faces' in each page which I didn't pick up on until I couldn't go back. Would recommend if you enjoy HOG's, but would also recommend doing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I did not have the show stopping bugs that others had, but sometimes there was a bit of jankiness in the controls. I did play on casual mode. Once I got over the artistic differences from the previous 3 in the series, I rather enjoyed most of it and the minigames/HOG parts were generally enjoyable and sometimes challenging. Its not nearly as nice looking as the previous entries in the series.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The 4rth in the series, this game again surprised me with its unique premise compared to the previous games. Same puzzle style as before, though I found the environments less engaging. There was also a strange flickering when zooming in on areas. I'm not sure if that's just because I'm playing at a higher resolution than designed, but it was a little distracting. Otherwise, not a bad game. ^-^
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cozy, relaxing, with a guide if you get lazy, and plenty of hints.

This was a really fun game with a new main character, but all previous characters are still part of the game. Hidden object modes are varied, and some are quite fun. The puzzles (in casual) are just about the difficulty to expect, maybe a teensy bit lower or on the easier side. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the BEST of the series. I love Kate, but the addition of the new protagonist and her ability is fun and refreshing. The length of the game is good, the usual for most hidden object games. The puzzles are fantastic, challenging, and fun. I love the way that with some hidden object scenes, you not only have to find objects but use them within the scene in order to find the remaining objects. The graphics and voice acting are very good as well. My personal favorite would be the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cliffhanger ending !!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is entertaining and long enough to satisfy. I wish it had more hidden object scenes, however.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not quite the usual hidden object, it's a bit more involved, in a good way. Some of the puzzles can be a bit unfathomable but it's a great value game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good game. enjoyed it enough Im getting ready to play it again
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just not as good as its predecessors. It seems small and unengaging. You can skip this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best puzzle games i've played, the entire series of House of 1000 doors is amazing, never fails to impress everyone of any age.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not the greatest HOG I've ever played. Seems to have too many gimicks with a magic hand, a cat and such. You can be playing, forget you have them and be seemingly stuck for awhile until you remember you have access to them.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have never had a HoG I didn't like or one I haven't finished. There is only one reason I would not recommend this game and that is the fact that I had a buggy game. Not only did I have to start over, but I have never had a game I've played through to the end, bonus chapter included where clicking on interactive pieces created distorted images to the point it was hard to tell where I was clicking which made playing less than enjoyable for me. That being said, I think the game was fantastic.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's your basic HOG. Clearly designed for a touch screen, but still playable with a mouse. Nothing special, but well put together and worth playing if you like this style of game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm really enjoying this hidden object game and the puzzles are so well put together, very clever :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What a slop. mismatched low res graphics that are pixelated in an otherwise (mostly) nicely drawn environment, voice acting is atrocious, especially for the main character... "It's. Time. I. Go. Back. To. My. Family." Animations also fuzzes the images, and pixelates them until it settles in place. Puzzles are somewhat clever in some cases, but for the most part, random and "missing stuff" in most cases. The first 3 had their cringe moments, but at least they didn't look like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite my immense love for the first three games, this one is beyond disappointing. It it EXTREMELY buggy and laggy, you cannot see the instructions because the screen kind of pixelates more than half the time, you cannot properly access game mechanics for the same reason, and you keep having to shift from full screen to small screen in hopes to fix the bugs. Tech issues aside, it feels lazy. The game design is less complex, the puzzles are way too easy, and the mechanism themselves feel…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this one was a little different than the other games but fun in its own way
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good HOG. Tries to do a few things a bit differently - they don't all work, but most do.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i found this super enjoyable, just wish there was more of the "find objects in a picture" minigame lol
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nowhere near as good as the previous House of a 1000 Doors games. Exceedingly fanciful and and I lost whatever plot there was very quickly. Emily is described as a young woman - but her little voice sounds like that of a child. I took the voiceover sounds down to minimum.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is nowhere near as good as the previous three games.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This one sucked - without a doubt the worst game in the 1000 Doors series. Graphics were mediocre, challenges were not that interesting, and overall the game was boring. It was much shorter than the other games, and I was still wishing it was over the majority of my play through. The voice acting was bad, the graphics were bad, and the plot is bad. The deviation from the original character's design is disappointing, and the addition of a new character (Emily) who is completely bland and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are expecting this game to be like the first 3 House of 1000 doors, you are mistaken. Alawar has teamed up with Logris games for this one and not 5bn. However, after feeling disappointed at first as the game was completely different to the first 3, I was pleasantly surprised to see how good the game really was. The creativity is remarkable and the cartoony type graphics are very well done. The game is interesting and quite challenging. The developers put a great deal of work into this…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →35. House of 1000 Doors: The Palm of Zoroaster Collector's Edition I... have no idea what this game is. Not only is it no longer available on Steam, but it's so unavailable that it doesn't even have a store page any more.
unlabelledView post →Broken game, don't waste your time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →right as a fan of the game series for years, i decided to play it. Not an hour in and i can say this sucks i fear. My honest opinion, there's no logic, they don't tell you what and how, you don't play as Kate and the characters just don't feel the same, there's no beyond objects and i genuinely cant play this without using a million hints which sucks since in all the other games you could mostly figure it out on your own. It feels like a whole different game from how everything changed. I'm…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent point and click adventure
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent game. Very well thought out. Great mix of scene experiences.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best of all the House of 1000 Doors games. Interesting and varied puzzles, lots of point & click for fans of the genre and hours of gameplay. Less HO than some of the others. The hint and skip buttons come in handy if you're pressed for time, but I didn't need to use too often.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked playing this game, but I had a feeling that the story sometimes didn't make sense. And the previous three games were better, but I have a feeling that this one has lost its charm. Other than that it is a good game worth playing. It has decent graphics and a story. I love music and sound effects. Pros: + bonus chapter
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →5 year old bug that stop you from finishing the game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →House of 1000 Doors, play the series on steam, now. Maybe start with Family Secrets (Hidden object game, I used to play Family Secrets as a kid)
unlabelledView post →Game breaking bug. Impossible to get finish the game. During the tank-plugging HOG in the trophy room, I can't select the plug behind the plate, preventing me from continuing the game. The problem seems to be known since 2019 and No attempt to correct it has been made.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not really consistent with the 1000 doors series, it's so very different, but good on its own. Interesting touch with the use of a cat and other tools. The puzzles are not standard hidden object ones that are point and click, they're sequences, and you can search a while for the first object and cannot skip the puzzle. I loved all the other 1000 doors games, but this one somehow seems very different. As other reviews said, this is the "weak link" of the 1000 doors games story wise, but on…
