28 of 28 · most liked firstI am now updating my review. Hurray! Hexodius is an arena twin stick shooter. This means you have a character /ship/geometric shape/whatever, in a square area where there are enemies. You shoot in any direction to deal with them and they shoot back. Rarely is there any variation in terrain in these types of games. Hexodius is no exception. A few levels are longer than the screen and some have some indestructible boxes. But, thus far I have seen nothing majorly abnormal for a TSS. It…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hexodius combines a twin-stick shooter with customization and exploration elements in the form of ship equipment and a world map. Buy ship weapons or upgrades, or find them throughout the world, and equip them on your ship before a level. Weapons are unlocked through collecting energy crystals, a mechanic similar to Gradius (where Hexodius sort of gets its name). Graphics are well done but nothing amazing, and a lack of diversity between level stages means the game starts to feel the same…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hexodius is a traditional twin stick shooter. Usually games that reccomend the controller before you even start playing, really grind my gears. However, With this one after trying both settings. I'm glad I got that message for a change, because with keyboard and mouse it was next to impossible to play. The game is great fun and highly addictive, but from what I can see, not very popular on steam. I don't know why this is as its a fantastic game. You have a story mode, and a traditional…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a very underrated game and the Metacritic reviews are a joke. The 'God is a Geek' review for instance describes the game as "enjoyable" but then scores it a 40 out of 100, only for reasons by comparison to other games of it's genre. There are a lot of game reproductions on the market (the twin stix genre has to be one of the most reproduced) so its not really a fair reviewing Hexodius by comparison and not seeing it as it's own game. 'Hexodius', with it's own challanges, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While the concept is solid and the game inventive, Hexodius unfortunately lacks both the intensity and fun a good twin-stick shooter should provide.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh God, I paid good money for this boring game. D:
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hexodius manages to make the twin-stick shooter formula crushingly boring by adding "exploration" and score attack elements, and that takes some skill. In the former case, it makes the game quite grindy, as you're incentivized to complete every area in a world, which means finishing approximately 100 fairly-samey missions over the course of the story mode. They get more difficult as they go, but rarely all that much more interesting except for adding more and more varieties of enemies to the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →worthless purchase. absolutely no response to keyboard and mouse.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game starts a little bit slow, but it gets more interesting after 15 mins. I love the variety of enemies, the nice upgrades, and the map made of "board games like" tiles.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't understand all the negative reviews. The game runs well on Win10 with an Xbox 360 controller and I haven't found more than one spelling error in the many German text outputs yet. Every ordinary newspaper has more of those on one page! Only my thumbs hurt after playing one hour and trying the very demanding levels over and over again. ;-)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GAME IS UNPLAYABLE. I just tried this game again today wondering if things'd go any better. Nope. Still impossible to map the controls to anything. Once I start a game I have to alt-F4 out because of the lack of a menu button. Unfinished rubbish.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad little twin stick shooter...but definitely has some things going against it. The worst thing is probably the limited fov, and sometimes the bottom hud can obstruct enemies too. There's also no makers on the side of the screen to indicate where enemies are off screen. I also disliked how you only get 3 upgrade slots, there needs to be more! Regarding the upgrade slots, you can only have 3 equipped, but when there's bigger and stronger bullets, faster shoot rate and a larger magnet to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better than expected game best played in small doses. Pro: - Easy to get into twin stick shooter action. Quite traditional action with powerups and what not. - Fun bosses. Some even challenge you. Con: - Early game is SLEEPY BORING and the main reason why so few get far into the game. It does get better though. By the time you reach second boss the amount of toys available increases and you also have to start planning on how to both make money and spend it wisely
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hexodius isn't the worst example of this kind of game, but it's not compelling either. Especially not at full price. I got it on sale, but it's otherwise pretty skippable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoyable arcade twin stick shooter. Seems most of the negative reviews are because of it needing an x-input controller. The game itself is pretty decent though. Would recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's very good, with the only exception being the targeting system is a little bit awkward, not so precise.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's something unique about this game. It made me play it for longer and I am not a big fan of twin-shooters. Also considering how steam controller's right stick is abysmal. RECOMMENDED!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very fun game for streaming
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely love this title. The "story" isn't exactly a story what-so-ever but the campaign is fun and gives you a sense of progression with upgrades, unlocks, and boss battles. Gameplay is like most twin sticks, easy to pick up but this one is difficult to master. Lots of unlocks, lots of enemy types, and just a solid overall title.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hexodius, developed by Brain Slap Studio and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment, is a twin-stick shooter that tries to blend fast-paced arcade action with light exploration and customization elements. At its heart, it is a simple concept—a lone pilot navigating a labyrinth of hexagonal arenas, battling hordes of robotic enemies while upgrading and adapting to increasingly difficult challenges. Yet beneath its straightforward premise, Hexodius aims for something a little more layered than…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful graphics, the game trains your reaction well
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another twin stick shooter game. I love this genre, but this game does not bring anything new and interesting at all. Boring.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hexodius is an old arcade twin stick shooter. In my opinion is this game only playable with a controller. The graphics aren't that great, but what do you expect from an indie game dating back to 2013. That's not a valid argument to give this game a negative rating as plenty others did. The game starts slow and easy, but once you progress further it gets rather challenging quickly. I never bored myself because more and more smart enemies with complex patterns jump in the levels. All in all,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very mediocre game, avoid it. I was expecting something at least as good as bubble tanks..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A decent arcade-style twin-stick shooter with some light RPG elements, namely being able to choose your power-ups/support items before each stage and map exploration/clearing making up the game's story mode. There is also an arcade mode with 6 stages to unlock. Simple but solid gameplay although the robot voice that guides you through the game gets annoying quickly. If you don't have a twin-analog stick controller get one before playing or the game likely will be unplayable. A fine game for…
