Heileen 3: New Horizons
Developer Winter Wolves
Traveling with pirate Morgan, Heileen seeks her lost friends, aiming to reunite. This is just the start, as the story unfolds with a fixed game time to secure a romantic or career ending. The Virtues/Sins system from the second game is incorporated, with each choice molding Heileen's character. From the Steam store page

60 of 60 · most liked firstAll I say on this review can be applied as much to Heileen 2 as to 3, so I'm reviewing them together. Once more a visual novel that disappoints. I was really excited about playing Heileen 3 (I got Heileen 2 afterwards from... somewhere, I forget, but it was free so I was like, whatever, cards!, and tried it for a while anyway in case it was good), even though I knew little about it. And then I played it and cried. :'( No, I kid. XD I played it and rolled my eyes a lot, though. It's a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A so-idiotic-it-becomes-offensive game you shouldn't approach with a very-very long stick. Never. It's so idiotic, I just HAD to keep going on, to see where the nightmare would end. If it ever ended. It did. Abruptly. But more about this, in a moment. First, a commercial. Did you ever wonder how life on the high seas would be, with your semi-dead parrot on your shoulder, with your fellow pirates waiting for the first chance to disembowel you, while ghost ships and giant squids roamed the la...…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The culmination of the Heileen series, Heileen 3: New Horizons has the heroine of the series, Heileen, rescued from a shipwreck by a band of oddly sympathetic pirates. This game follows her journey as she tries to locate her other friends and relatives, while having the freedom to have a say in her future, whether it is pursue a romance from one of 8 possible people, or whether she finds contentment in a future career. For how the game runs, it is reminiscent of visual novels (which the first…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game outright telling me I can go rug munching just made me think that the cost of getting these cards might be a tad too high if it climbs in 'time played' too high relative to real games that deserve to be played. Also i just played the intro portion a bit and the game is just... retarded. Heck if these characters where ciphers they would shine in charisma and character relative to the non entities that is the protagonist and every other anime stereotype in this 'visual novel'.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Im in lesbians with Juliet and Flora. And btw playing as a woman on games like this will make you feel sexualy weird, especially if you´re a man playing a girl that dates dudes. The beggining of the game made me love a man and i felt.............*drinks*. I mean i love the game for allowing lesbians things but seriously, that beggining made me go drink a bottle of vodka while Heileen was describing her sexual perveties towards the captain dude. And with all duo respect, writing this is making…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This concluding part of the Heileen series feature a female protagonist Heileen who is picked up with Ebele and Robert by a pirate band led by Morgan and Juliet and has to work aboard the ship while Morgan sails between colonies in the New World. While on the ship, Heileen reunites and will interact with members of her previous ship's crew and passengers and new characters will also join Morgan's crew. Heileen has the option to reach a special romance ending with Morgan, the captain of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So ive played this game for about 4 hours now, and my charater may have just been Sleept with against my will. Really thats the best writing you could come up with.... And what's with the rather random decrese to energy, it seems to take anywhere between 2-5% seems normal and some times it goes as high as 34%, the drain seems especially high when you make breakthroughs. Also something ive been thinking about is, why at all give us 600 days of repeating the same clicks, why is the Sin's /…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is definitely filled with pros and cons. While I did think it was an improvement from the first two games, there's definitely some issues to be taken with it. This game has a simulation aspect blended into the visual novel experience. Each day, Heileen has to choose certain activities to do in order to increase stats for skills and advance skills. While I definitely don't have a problem with simulation aspects being put into visual novels, I must say this game's sim system is quite…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Description Heileen 3 is the third part of a trilogy of visual novels telling the story of Heileen, a sheltered noble girl who embarks on a journey to the Caribbeans with her wealthy merchant on an uncle and ends up shipwrecked, stranded on an insland and then rescued and taken in by pirates. (note: the previous spoiler is only a spoiler for Heileen and Heileen 2 as those events take place before the start of Heileen 3). Heileen is a straightforward visual novel with no extra gameplay element.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well first of all, the game is: - Repetitive - Art repeated, let's talk about this: This company Winter Wolves makes Visual novel, the price of a Visual novel increases due to the original arts for each game. But this company reuses the arts and also charges the expensive games. - The game has no voice. - The game is boring. Some characters are interesting, some are not. I really enjoyed Winter Wolves because of their games like, Loren. But after playing several Visual novels, I DO NOT ACCEPT…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't really have a whole lot to say about this game, really. It's a visual novel/dating sim. I don't have a lot of experience with the genre, but this just felt meh all over. You're Heileen, the potentially most vapid and shallow woman you'll ever meet (then again her Lust and Pride values were high), as she tries to be useful aboard Captain Morgan's vessel while at the same time getting a date with just about any character that looks half-decent, because eye-candy. You don't get to pick…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before I played This Game... I had a small wee wee, no friends, no girlfriend, depression and absolutely no will to live. None of these things have changed, but the game is pretty good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just finished playing all three Heileen games in a row. I appreciate the fact that each one tries to do something different, and the fact that each one is bigger than the last. But that's where the positives end for me. Heileen 3 has many irritating aspects. * It carries over Heileen 2's virtue/sin system, which makes some vexing assumptions about certain aspects of morality. Heileen 3 tries to put this system to use by tying it to professions, but that doesn't help because... * The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Heileen 3: New Horizons" is final chapter in Heileen saga of visual novels by Winter Wolves. In short, it's telling the story of a young girl accompanying her rich uncle (who is pursuing the business in the New World) and eventually getting involved with pirates. It features all you can expect from a visual novel and it features elements of dating and raising sim. The game is running on Ren'Py engine and is not voiced (considering the number of characters, I actually see it as a sensible…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Super short review TLDR Don't buy unless heavily discounted and you have nothing else to buy. Positives Artstyle Music(it's ok at least) Negatives This game just feels like a very long common route where you split off into a specific ending at the last second and then it's over. Plot: You're on a pirate ship where you talk to people and you stat grind, there's nothing beyond this. There's a lot of dialogue in this game but almost none of it is interesting which only…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you a fan of visual novel games, this game really worth to buy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an OK game, but the RPG/stats features of it seem to have little to no effect on the game. Not very appealing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can finally say it. It's the worst detective plot ever. I thought I was so close to solving the biggest mystery - the glasses case. Abnormal glasses that end up lying in every single bed on the ship. Whose glasses are those? Where did they come from? Shinpachi-kun? Maybe the Flying Dutchman secretly loves to read? I mean, they're always in the sex scene. Uh...I mean CRIME SCENE. Yeah, crime!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is for gays. If you are the real man, don't play it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My opinion: When i buy this game, I was convinced that the game will be good. But as I downloaded, I don't understand it's the game or comic book. So who wants to buy this game, not buy. About game: Heileen 3 continues the story from the end of the second game and takes place in the Caribbean islands. Traveling side by side with Morgan the pirate, Heileen will search for her missing friends, hoping to reunite with all of them. But that's only the beginning, because the story continues!…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tags: Adventure - VN - Visual Novel Additional Tags: Delete Local Content & Remove from Library TLDR: Stiff scripting replaced with a now grind-a-stat system with social events represented as tarot cards. Not bad but high entry point in the heileen series and ultimately sloppily executed. Not really worth the bother.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't even know why I bothered I didn't like the first or second in the Heileen series. I guess I was hoping something good would changed. Nope, it's the same boring rubbish. 3/10 [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/45905648-Gork%2527s-Game-Grind/]Check out my curated list of games

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the conclusion to the Heileen saga. All of the adventures and travails that Heileen has been through to this point now reach their climax. Now, Heileen can pursue the man (or woman) of her dreams. Or find a career. Gameplay boils down to a bit of resource management as well as making the right decisions in conversations. There is a note when you reach an ending that seems to indicate that indeed Heileen was the first story produced by those who became Winter Wolves. As such, this is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Colourful, mild BGM, hard to recommend this if you don't like the game with long story but its still good enough to kill your time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →add some sex scene
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not at all what I expected. This is a "romance/drama" game which I personally want no part of. While the write-up on this makes it sound like an innocent adventure, it is actually all about having "romances" with all of the other NPCs. This is not at all a "child friendly" game, or one that I would recommend anyone playing, regardless of their age.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heileen 3 should have been a gamebook. The minor gameplay between lengthy batches of text is extremely tedious, mostly consisting of pressing the same few buttons ad nauseam to level up traits that do not appear to affect the story. For Linux users Steam Achievements apparently aren't implemented. The game runs through Wine, but I didn't get to the point of unlocking anything, so I don't know if they would work there.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice artwork! I like this artwork's style.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I dont know why this game is so expensive but it is really good! It's not worth full price because its not adults only but it gets super close and the lesbian dialog can get pretty hot and and erotic, so big thumbs up for that! I'm currently pursuing a 3-way lesbian romance between the main character. Juliet, and Ebele! If a lesbian 3 way is not possible and I have to pick between Juliet and Ebele, I probably do Ebele first then load a save to romance Juliet the female pirate captain as well,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was also fun because of the new adventures. I'm not a fan of job system, i found it unnecessary. You do jobs for the achievements, not so fun. Depelover(s) could add some useful features with that but maybe they will do that in future for other games, they indeed improved themselves from game to game and i appreciate that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have this game on android and still enjoy it. That't why when I saw a very good sale on steam I bought it immediately. This game of Winter Wolves is good to spend some hours, therer are many choices and both female and male options and also career path. Personally, I play this because of female and I do like all of them (but I am only interesting in Juliet though). Beside that, there is one thing I do not like. It is the way you have to choose only professional ending or romance ending. It…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i have to say this was the worst one of the 3. i would not recommend it. not only did heileen not really change from the other 2 this vn as now evolved into a simulation game. some might like while some might not. it didn't bother me that badly but it was eh. i don't think this is even worth the price full. the one thing i really did like was the music.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm literally in love with this game and the entire series its so worth it omg
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Awesome game :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the tasks and romance options in the story. Worth the money on a sale, for sure!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is amazing. Music A+ Story A+ Engaging plot and very fun activities to do throughout the game. High replay value!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved the game! It's a great one for fans of visual novels that have more to them than simply reading. You choose your own course (pun intended). I also thought it was fun to work toward the different career endings when the love endings are done. I could tell there was a lot of thought behind the storyline/s, nice art too. I do recommend playing Heileen 1 & 2 first just for context in Heileen 3. My one gripe was that I wish there were more male love ending choices. I did try to force myself…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better read a book than playing it. . .don't try this unless you like the game genre
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this visual novel game like a date sims. you will play as a girl in this game, join an adventure with a bunch of pirates while looking for your lost friends. you'll find your lost friend one by one, any interaction with other character will summon a tarrot card that affect the ending of the game. and the most interesting part is you can choose a job for many jobs that require some point on your skill.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The ship mechanic isn't fun, it's repeating and make so boring.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If not on sales it’s already $15 less here as it has all romances! This sequel starts right from boarding the pirate ship. You can focus on learning abilities and think of directing towards its virtue or sin for a profession. You can romance a man or a woman but you must finish the game with one or the other. I’ve done male romances before steam so cool I’ll do female romances for free. Each character represents a profession: Lora dancer, Otto is faith, Marie farming…each character will…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The 3rd installment of Heileen, and not having played the first ones I really recommend the 3rd one. It has a rich story great script unique, funny, and smart characters. Developed by WinterWolves these guys know how to tell a story and entice you. The thing I love most about this 3rd installment is that it gives you free range to choose Male or Female romances. It also gives you the choice to have a long-life profession, because who wants to have a romance all the time. XD All in all it’s a…
