It's not a bad game, so... But before we start: Neon mode: 🔲 off ✅ on LSD mode:⠀ 🔲 off ✅ on The mainframe in the company Highrise has gotten out of control, but unfortunately it is not around the corner, but on the eighth basement floor. So there is a small path ahead of us that we will tackle with a six-shot pistol. But there's a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terri Vellmann and Doseone, the developers of “Heavy Bullets”, have since gone on to carve out their own niche, and make their own small impact onto the indie scene, with 2020’s “Disc Room” and 2021’s “Sludge Life”, which both currently sit at around 500 reviews each, both with a cushy score of “Overwhelmingly Positive” here on Steam. Back in 2014, however, they created this tiny little action roguelite, centered around ammunition scarcity, and a peculiar, minimalist aesthetic. Summary PROS +…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game stutters all the time and the last boss is just throwing every enemy at once in a room, like a kid playing mario maker
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought Heavy Bullets somewhere around 8 years prior to writing this review. I clocked most of my time during that time in 2015, then a little bit recently. I think I got my money's worth (sale + already cheap indie game) but I think my opinion on Heavy Bullets has remained the same: interesting idea, tedious in gameplay past the first two hours. The only thing that's memorable about the game is its defining mechanic: if you shoot a bullet, it lands on the ground and you can pick it up again.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a significant issue with stuttering, apparently even on new hardware. You can read about this on the Steam community discussion pages. The dev has also apparently not been able to fix the issue for many years. For some people this may not be an issue, however it can be extremely bad, with significant stutters several times a minute, which can get worse when there are more enemies and objects in a room. When the game stutters time does not stop, this means that enemies still…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heavy Bullets is a very simple, but surprisingly fun and addictive roguelike. The art style is beautiful and charming, and the soundtrack is decent enough to keep you engaged. I started playing it yesterday, and I got all achievements today with 12 hours of playtime. My first win, however, took me around 6.5 hours, but once I got the momentum going, I kept winning and pursuing the achievements. They were a bit annoying due to the RNG-oriented nature of the game, but they’re alright. There is…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I gave this game a fair shot, and the only emotion it really brought me was *frustration* This game feels incredibly 'Cheap', and I don't mean the price, it feels like you're at the mercy as to whatever map layout you get. There's been many instances in my few hours of playing where damage just feels unavoidable, multiple turrets trained on you the moment you enter rooms, snakes blending in with the background. Most damage you take feels cheap, and when you're a RogueLite that's one of the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's always the worms
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quick fun game if you want an aim trainer, this definitely will do that for you. The gimmick of the game doesn't match the premise of the game at all though, and while its not detrimental it does hold the game back. The premise is that when you shoot a bullet, it lands on the ground and can be picked up again. Since there is absolutely no incentive to go fast, and are actively punished by the snakes hiding in the foliage and turrets (which fire way too quickly once they see you), you are…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing this game on Windows XP with a CRT on is fantastic.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Intense! And REALLY good simple shooter. I had tried it multiple times over the years but only now in 2025 did I go in with right mindset and it clicked. It is a short game, don't let the 7h fool you (I left it on for a day) it is a short game once you get the hang of it. A run from level one to level 8 and the final boss takes about 50 minutes. But to be able to do the sub 60 min run requires a few tries and learning how the enemies behave. Enemy variety is pretty decent and hitboxes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has its charm, with the low poly arcade appearance and bright colors, but my God if you don't have professional CSGO level reaction times, Heavy Bullets is just gonna piss you off.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥ the snakes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow I did not expect the FPS and Rogue Like genres to mix together this nicely! This game is quite challenging, which makes it pretty fun doing "one more run" trying to reach to the end. You can however give yourself an easier time if you play slowly and use the bank often to deposit money and buy life insurance. Love the visual style too, everything looks really striking and it's easy to make out where the enemies are (except those damn snakes hiding in the grass but that's definitely on…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally got around to beating this game like 5-6 years after I bought it. It fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Took me 12 years to finally beat this but man is it such a satisfying play through.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →actually a fun game to play once in a while. would recommend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A neat concept, but thats about it. What you see in the first 2 levels is what you get. Very overpriced, and even still on sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For my liking it is very generic and soulless to play. Progress is very slow and the game ends up being overall not that satisfying. I think it is just a product of the time it came out. No permanent upgrades is probably the biggest feature missing. The game for the time I played overall was just mediocre. And I felt like I have seen everything the game has to offer in the playtime of about an hour and forty minutes . Worth trying on sale if you think you might like it ,just not my cup of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →90% of the difficulty comes from gun turrets (perfect aim, can track you through walls) forcing you to cross corners quickly to avoid getting shot, combined with snare turrets (who can also track you through walls) locking you in place right after you've done that: all other enemies in the game might as well not exist. It's no surprise that both boss fights rely on gun turrets + snare turrets (+explosive spam) all crammed in a very small room, and even then after you take out the snares all you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the only thing consistent about this game is its inconsistency the enemies that run at you(expect for the exploder) are trivial and could be removed from the game and it wouldnt get any easier multiple items are functionally useless halfway convinced the game only poisons you when it will kill you the turrets have to fully active and charge to shoot you...except when they dont and start rapid firing at you the turrets that leash you should be removed from the game locking you out from being…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I, personally, am not too fond of this game. It's strange and annoying, but part of that annoyance probably comes from my lack of skill. If you're good at first-person shooters (unlike me) and are looking for something unique, you may find this game enjoyable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heavy Bullets is... Quaint. It's charming but pretty outdated as far as roguelikes go, and has very little meat on its bones. You have exactly ONE slot to keep an active or passive item (two if one of the vending machines decides to offer a backpack), meaning the vast majority of the upgrades you'll find will be abandoned because you like your current item better. As a result, you don't feel like you're powering up much at all as the run goes on. There are no synergies, and you can't even go…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heavy Bullets is pretty much a single gimmick game. You run, you shoot enemies, they die in one hit (although some of them might be tricky to hit), bullets you shot drop and can be picked up, and have to be picked up, otherwise you find yourself out of bullets. There are two issues with that. First, it limits your approaches to the game. You will find yourself waiting for enemy to come closer before you kill them, because you always want bullets to drop nearby. This is also enforced by the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So much content in just 8 levels. Really cool stuff, the game has nice aesthetics that're complemented with equally nice music. But in what world is a perfectly cut diamond worth $60?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple. Cheap. Easy to understand and play. Neat gimmick.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game! Pls buy it while it's still on sale. I can only recommend it, but I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HATE THE SNAKES.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a really simple shooter. What you see on level 1 and 2 is pretty much what you get the rest of the game. That's not really a bad thing. I want that simplicity sometimes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Heavy stutters" or "Stutter bullets" or "People from the Rami Ismail/JW/Terri Vellmann/whatever clique when they have to make an optimized game for once".

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heavy Bullets is an absolute blast! This roguelike shooter combines fast-paced action with a unique twist that keeps you on your toes. The gameplay is both challenging and addictive, requiring quick reflexes and strategic thinking as you navigate the procedurally generated levels. The retro-inspired graphics and catchy soundtrack create an engaging atmosphere that draws you in right from the start. I love the mechanic of reloading bullets after firing—it's a clever touch that adds an extra…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple and Very Enjoyable
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just because a game has retro graphics doesn't make it good
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This happened to my buddy Squiddy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cons: - Annoying high pitched sounds. - Most items are behind impossible to find hidden walls. - The difficulty sucks. Almost a good game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Character Assistant [email protected] Here's a short and positive review for Heavy Bullets: "Heavy Bullets is a unique shooter game with a challenging yet fun gameplay. The bank system allows players to store money for future runs, which helps create a sense of continuity and progression. The neon color palette is vibrantly gorgeous, without being overly distracting or eye-straining. Overall, Heavy Bullets is a fun and challenging shooter game that I highly recommend."
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →mmmm not that much to talk about it here: a rogue like shooter based on ''spotting'' the enemy and to plan ahead, which could interesting if combined with its minimalistic game design, with almost ''synth'' graphics and a straightforward story... Buuuuuuut it is way too miniminalistic to actually be entertaining for more than 2 minutes, failing its ''rogue like'' nature. So, nope. I don't get how much rating this game got but for me, it's a no (at least, not for the original price).
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty fun indie game, art style is nice and enemies have good variety. Boss fights could be harder then
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game doesn't get updates at all anymore, but it doesn't need them, this game is amazing. The graphics don't need to be great with the way the art style works, but are still amazing. The game doesn't need sound or music, but the sounds and music tracks are all amazing. Other than a lack of new content, this game is great, and I don't really have any complaints
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fast gun go bang bang
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun little game where you have to pick your limited ammo back up after firing it. It's not easy but it could be a bit short for a quick learner with good aim.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Heavy bullets is a nice short rogue-like fps shoot'em up rpg game. You have a revolver and must make it down to the mainframe to reset. Along the way you have enemies that will kill you. You fight back to protect yourself and get money from their dead body to buy items and upgrades. You can also find secrets in the game for unique items. There are a decent amount of enemy variety. with those that will chase you and others that are stationary. The game only has 8 levels, 2 of which has a boss…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rating 4/10 Intro It pains me to also downvote this Rogue-like, because it's actually one of the better ones I've checked out in my backlog of similar games. But unfair difficulty is the main culprit here as to why I can't enjoy it. Positives + Good soundtrack. + Good enemy variety. + Unique ammo management. + Weapons have good impact. + Good aesthetics and graphics. Negatives - Unfair difficulty. Yes, all enemies telegraph where they are with a sound, once you appear in their line of sight.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It looked a lot like Heavy Bullets, which is another game I liked. A lot of my interest is in studying this particular subspecies of fast-paced shooter.
unlabelledView post →does not have enough style or fun to get past the basic albeit for a purpose graphics and combat, very very not good
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent game if gotten for cheap, but i will not focus on the price for this review. The game is simple and has simple mechanics, maybe too simple, frustratingly simple, it's as repetitive as can be, most items are useless or maybe even buggy, others are incredibly OP and will increase your chances of winning by A LOT, but sadly most of these op items are behind hidden walls, which requires you to stare at walls spamming e like an idiot for most of the game if you wanna get those yummy yummy…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am heavy bullets guy. And these, are my bullets.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bullets fall, accurate title. One of the weirdest shooter games i have played and i love it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very fun FPS dungeon roamer where you try not to die and get through each randomly generated levels. You have 6 rounds in your revolver and can pick up bullets after you have already shot them. There are stores throughout each level and you can even store money saved for future runs. Great game with a great art style. Def check out future games made by same developers! <3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A perfect indie game 10/10. Love the art style, enemies, items, hidden secrets and most importantly the gunplay. A great game to warm up your aiming skills. Bullets are heavy so be careful how fast you fan that hammer. Die and lose it all, or bank some away for a later day. X marks the spot. An absolute gem of a game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →76/ Heavy Bullets Another roguelite shootybangs game, but the gimmick here is that you have to reload your revolvers bullets individually. Also, you have to pick your bullets back up off the floor after you fire them, so make sure you look where you’re aiming so you don’t lose any
unlabelledView post →Heavy Bullets It's a really fun rougelite FPS where you go into a "video game" and need to clean up some rogue NPCs. Stressful, randomly generated levels, and honestly... a tons of fun once you figure out the enemies mechanics. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bcpx...
unlabelledView post →Early indie roguelite that attempts to translate the brutal physicality and procedure of games like Spelunky and Nuclear Throne to a pure FPS format, with a striking visual and aural identity. Has its limitations for sure, but considering the projects its designers would later be involved in, this is an interesting piece of game design.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a 55 year old biker and trucker father, and probably one of the oldest people playing this game. I am a single father to my Son, who is 14 now. My son got this game for from his uncle, so we installed it on his computer and he started playing. By the end of the week he had 24 hours on this game. This was horrible for me, as it was already hard for me to find ways to spend time with my son, as he is always out with his friends or just watching YouTube. So i decided to make a Steam account…
