But that doesn't mask the fact this game is kinda boring to play through. All flash, no substance. It's like someone was enamored by games like Superhot and Hotline Miami and wanted to make something like that, but it falls flat. You'd be better off getting the DOSEONE soundtrack and not even bother getting the game. Great for speedrunners or high score chasers, at least.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As with Sludge Life, this game by the same developer, oozes style from every angle. From the VHS/Cartoonish graphics to the banging soundtrack, this game delivers on the aesthetic. Merry that with some simplistic but addictive twitch 1st person shooting mechanics and you have a must buy. Sure it's quite basic and short, but the beauty is in the details and the length of the game boils down to how much better you want your times and scores to be. Any doubt, grab it on sale like I did.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →really just meh, get it if you have money to throw away. dont get it if you want a good fast paced FPS experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this game 6 years ago. Wow, I must've been pretty rough because I remeber thinking ths game was too hard and bad. I now have all the achievements and really appreciate this game. Would love to see more like it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →High Hell is a fast-paced level-based FPS speedrunning game where you play as a woman trying to bring down an evil tyrant by sabotaging his business ventures in the upper roofs and penthouses of the game's urban hell. The game is cartoony if not basic looking but the makeup of the levels and visual signaling is well done. The soundtrack is very intense, industrial, aggressive electronica that pumps up the action because nearly the entire game is intense and involves rapid gunfights where you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a classic shooter. The problem for me is that both the shooting and the controls are terrible. There's no feedback, the character slides on top of the floor instead of walking and I find it just terrible overall.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game. ABYSMAL bosses. The bosses were the worst part and almost ruined the game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros: - Unique game design - Simple game play - It was probably really cheap when I picked it up - A short game (but I'm not planning to finish it) Cons: - Only one weapon and it feels pretty worthless most of the time - Very inconsistent hit boxes on enemies - Requires a lot more patience than I have at this moment This game looked really interesting but it's just not for me. Lots of trial and error for very little payoff. And the more I had to repeat a level the more the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →mouse sensitivity so high my buttplug vibrations made me do a 360
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →🎮 2025 Game #20: High Hell Short, but fun fps with instant respawns and very fast paced gameplay. Love the aesthetic, the objective variety, and the overall speed, but the game is rough around the edges with regards to its technical aspects (always on mouse acceleration??) 7/10 #IndieGames

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →100% High Hell on 10/26/2017. This arcade-action first-person shooter is a high octane blast. Progress through hell killing all enemies and completing objectives. Casually playing is fun, but portions of the game and some achievements lean into the need to speedrun the game. If you enjoy speedrunning and routing paths, this game will be even more enjoyable for you. If you don't like speedrunning, you might miss out on some of the achievements. They are doable and not overly hard, but requires a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I found this to be a more challenging game than expected, but I honestly suck at FPS games so that may be on me. The game crashed 3 times unexpectedly which was annoying. Otherwise, this was a fun experience with lightning fast action gameplay. It has the same wonderful graphical style as Sludge Life.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →pretty fun, short and simple fast paced shooter game. took me around 2 hours to get all the achievements for it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's so random i love it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3. High Hell (2017) This game has a really solid art direction and ads to the charm a lot, but I didn't have as much fun with this one as Lovely Planet. While there's a lot more spectacle here, your movement speed is shockingly slow. Not a deal breaker, but forces you to play more carefully.
unlabelledView post →Fun and short "die and retry" style game. You're not going to get more than a couple of hours out of it so keep that in mind when you buy it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun fast paced retro shooter with levels short enough that they dont feel draining. My only gripe is it tries to feel like a movement shooter; but in reality it's a cover shooter since the enemies shoot hitscan and are extremely punishing without jiggle peaking constantly.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great art and style, great pace, short campaign, terrible final boss.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I can't play the minigames because I load the next level before the minigames pops up. 10/10 It is a great game. kinda overprice for an hour length tho.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I enjoyed the whole experience, it has a lot of secrets and u can tell the developers got some humor sense. Being all honest, you cant configure your sensitivity as you expect for a first person shooter, it annoyed me because I had to change it through my mouse synapse. I could say for sure its a excelent game, but, in my currency, it costs R$ 33, which pretty higher than I would expect to pay. I recommend this game if u are into casual fps and its costing less than R$ 15, it gonna be a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rating: ★★☆☆☆ (2/5) Not even enough to be a demo. There is a severe lack of content in here. Nothing but one single weapon, very few enemy types, small and barely put together maps, uninteresting boss fights that have no relation to the rest of the game. Overall the game feels like the result of a game jam rather than a final product. Worse of all, gunplay feels repetitive almost from the start.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game... All i can say as an old ♥♥♥♥ FPS guy^^ All in all a compact experience but fun, and higly replayable (especially for speedrunners, i assume. not really my forte^^)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the equivalent of eating a mystery hot dog from one of those sus los angeles hot dog vendors it tastes ok but eating it is a mess (read: bosses) and you'll probably forget about it as soon as you finish it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was super chill duders. I recommend doing a full achievement hunt after your first play-through. Great for work from home ;)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short and sweet. Fun game with some fun achievements to get. Be aware it is VERY short
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →10 out of 10 shooter for grandpa
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was a trip. Has that kind of Hotline Miami formula. Something like this with blood, actual guns, upgrades, a random level generator or something, and access to the hideout they tease in the loading screens could really be something special.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →2hours of content and not good content
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →High Hell walked so Sludge Life could run. I love the art direction in this one. Gameplay is okay, personally I think it could use a little spike in difficulty.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short, but nice! 6.8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →quick and fun! Glad that you can turn off the color bleed, didn't like that part. Not much else to say, it's quite short but it's real fun. Give it a shot!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game has the worst possible method of rebinding keys (aside from "no rebinding whatsoever"). You have to: - hold Ctrl while double-clicking the shortcut so that a window opens where you can rebind the keys - and then you have to launch the game this way every single time or your changed bindings won't apply
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very short, intense, and fun boomer shooter type game. might not be as complex as ultrakill or others in the genre, but on a sale for $3 it's definitely worth picking up
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short, sweet, challenging. Found this game after finishing sludge life collection, and wanted some more of that art direction. Goes to show you don't need to do too much to a game, you just need to know what to do. The game encourages you to speedrun for extra time bonuses and achievements, but will still make you work for it as enemies can do a lot to your health, and its hard to gain it back on the level to a comfortable level, so be aggressive and tactical at the same time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →games good, but the final level needs some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ working, eyes dont register ♥♥♥♥, took me way to many tries just for the shots to register
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Slick, stylish, bite-sized game - tons of funny little gags if you pay attention.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →boring unrewarding and poorly designed. the level design is super repetitive, you use the same gun the entire time, theres only 5 enemy types, the boss fights are uncreative and boring, the missions all feel the same. also i beat the game in just over an hour, barely any content in this game. after beating the whole campaign i dont even have enough playtime to refund.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →looks good contorls good, tough as nails but a really fun fps
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't be fooled by the trailer and Steam saying the game has "Very positive" reviews, this game is actually terrible, not only you barely have any health, but the movement is extremely basic to the point this isn't even a movement shooter, the only best strat you have to dodging bullets is by strafing a lot, or if you find that to be far too difficult still, you can just play the game tactically, which severely ruins what this game was trying to go for, also Level 13 is the most evil thing in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just not all that interesting. Kind of childish styling, poor enemy pathing and design, a single depthless weapon, no story to speak of, straight up bad movement, and a handful of extraneous achievements to try to squeeze more than the hour or so it takes to complete this out of you. The only interesting things here to me are the loading screen minigames and the real time mirrors which are both neat, but when everything else blows that's not much to hold onto. Oh and there's a few wieners…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah I'll be honest, it's not fun. Pretty lacking and boring levels, nothing that brings any "pizzazz" to any part of the game. And the enemies are extremely annoying, the game wants you to go in guns blazing speedrunning, but the enemies do so much damage, and can practically auto-hit you unless you're hiding somewhere, plus any HP you regain is useless, and the main gimmick is useless outside of doors, and some missions. First real bad game from Devolver, which sucks because nothing this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is just near perfect. The only complaint is that the enemies WILL see you if you are in any part of 180 degrees of their vision buuuuut that is balanced by having them not even realize if their colleague just got absolutely rekt 2cm in front of their face. I would love another game just like this but longer and improved upon.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got it at 80% off and it was a decent experience. Nothing fantastic, some levels are trash (The bot) but some are sorta good. 7/10 game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Game. It's a simple no-frills FPS that's fast paced. It's frantic in a good way, and there's a lot of replayability if you like speed running. Interesting art style and themes too. The loading screens are interactive and goofy. There's one where you throw hotdogs and cigarettes onto a frying pan. It's also a short game. If you go as slow as you can you'll probably finish it in 2 hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really disappointing. The only way to enter doors is to kick them, and the enemies react so quickly that you WILL get shot before the door's debris moves out of the way for you to see. There's also only one weapon type and it's an incredibly mediocre slow-firing rifle. Feels more like an alpha build than a finished product, don't waste your time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A short polished shooter that'll take you a few hours. Bosses are pretty BS but I'd still recommend it on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short, sweet, intense. Approachable achievements and collectables for a replay sprint. Music is bangin.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →interactive loading screens
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow, fast paced fun with nice replayability.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →High Hell, developed by Terri Vellmann and Doseone and published by Devolver Digital, is a frenetic and stylish first-person shooter that merges fast-paced action with a bold, surreal aesthetic. Players are thrust into a vibrant, neon-soaked world where the focus is on fluid movement, quick reflexes, and high-intensity combat. Released in 2017, the game stands out for its unique blend of arcade-style gameplay and exaggerated, almost cartoonish visuals, creating an experience that feels both…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →High Hell- Another first person game that's *kinda* speedrun focused. Silly little game from devolver. Took around 5 hours to hundo, but was pretty fun.
unlabelledView post →This game is a lot of fun. It's fast paced, requires good aim, has a bunch of collectable things to come back for, and most important of all, it's silly as hell. I love a good interactive loading screen, and being able to flop hotdogs at enemies while waiting for the next level to load is amazing. Plus it's got goats. Lots of them.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think tackling the achievements gives it some replay. I disliked the boss fights. But ultimately fun if a little short.
