Golf for Workgroups
Developer Cryptic Sea
Golf for Workgroups is a competently designed golf course, ball, player and cart simulation with a swing component designed to be satisfying. Up to four players each navigate a biped around a height field texture mapped to look like a golf hole. From the Steam store page

It was very much a golf game; mouse-based swinging and all, but the abstract sepia look of the courses, the brightly-colored robotic golfers with guns and teapots on their heads, and the rocket-powered golf carts certainly set it apart from the crowd. While not much became of "Golf?" around that time, the title screen always promised, "Free Demo (for something we eventually hope to charge money for)".…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Golf for Workgroups really maximized our golfing efficiency. Profits are up 25% and we're now golfing faster than ever!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's the same game as Cryptic Sea's "Golf?", presumably renamed because of how hard the former title was to search for. In it's current state it's fairly similar to the old game, but now has widescreen support, voice chat, a server browser and some other small things to make it work much better on modern computers. The only downside to it at the moment is that there's only one 9 hole course to play. Speed mode is great. Nothing beats stealing your opponents cart and launching it across…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, but the content runs out fast and its not looking like this is ever getting out of early access or getting any more updates.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →achieve greatness like arnold palmerman
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Maybe if it was free, I could recommend. Another Devolver game that was released and abandoned.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a pretty neat game with a good engine and could do with more levels and certainly a better multiplayer system. The game's already quite enjoyable even with other great golf games in existance. And then it never got updated. Just get 100ft Robot Golf.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You hit the ball with your mouse, control its speed with how fast and wide you move from right to left. Adding curves to the flight path, with slight up & down movements while hitting, is quite exciting! Selection of which kind of clubs/sticks, to choose which range and steepness you want to shoot with, is each time automatic, and then you can manually change it with the number keys. You are a robot in cubic halls filled with a dream like scenery, which itself can have special ways to interact…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →dead game really tho if if they would just add a course builder or moddability it'd be worth 5$ but it's a 1 dollar game. I actually really like it tho
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Less a remake, more a second (third?) chance: Golf For Workgroups. The game once called "golf?" was a multiplayer-focused, abstracted game of speed golf, with rocket-powered golf carts. It only ever received 9 holes, launched into early access on Steam, then stagnated. It could go places now.
unlabelledView post →Strange, and confusing to get into at first, but meet some people on here and have a great time for hours with some new/old buddies
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game didn't seem to work as intended for me at all. In the first server I joined I wasn't able to move. The second server I joined removed parts of the HUD so I couldn't tell what I was doing. The third game finally worked okay. I'd be willing to put up with this much weirdness in an early access title if the gameplay were good, but it's not. The concept behind how the golf swinging works is good. You have a bar that you swing your mouse cursor across in a golf-club-like fashion,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not a single oz of news has been said on updates regarding this game so unfortunetly it seems dead dont buy
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want more, MORE!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →By far the best golf simulation game. If there were more maps or a workshop this would be top tier gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I golfed at work and instead of a nice cushy promotion I got fired. Thanks Devolver!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →On the one hand, this is a fifteen year old placeholder for a real game but on the other hand it's neat and fun and different. The swing mechanics are buttery. (Dunno why the store page says they started work in 2008. Archive.org has a page from 2005 which matches the "last modified" for the files on one of my old hard drives. I am old and getting older.) I want to play with my friends but that requires convincing my friends to be hip and cool original gamester aesthetes like me. Recommended…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →best golf game, wish more courses were added or ability to be made by community.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →“Golf for Workgroups” fills you with exactly the sort of unease and malaise you’d expect from anything that has “Workgroups” in its name. It really is optimized for maximum productivity. Highly recommended for all upwardly mobile problem solvers, builders, thinkers, and doers who strive for more, move the needle, stand on the precipice, and always aim to deliver an ETA by EOD.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Probably the best golf experience in gaming. It's a great shame that it's been abandoned, the potential here was unreal.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am no longer allowed to use the TV at company events.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i really really wish they'd expand/finish this, it is Exactly what i want out of a golf game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My work environment has become much less toxic, and much more friendly ever since we played golf for work groups at our work group! 10/10 A must buy!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Work golf for groups is grea- good. and it's got some neato phytsics. annnnd the soundtrack is 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is probably my favorite game of all time. Every night before bed I speak a brief prayer to the developer for more content.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The worst game ever, it looks like it was made by a blind person who knows nothing about UI or game development. Don't buy this trash, if you really have spare money you can just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ give it to me instead of playing this. 0/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'd been looking for this game for years, since the third or fourth time I had to Format C. Years, you say? The last time I saw or played this game, it was on a CRT monitor. A CRT MONITOR, FFS! At the time, this game was a great cold turkey option to my Outlaw Golf 2 addiction. It was glitchy, obscure, and painful to play (as opposed to OG2 which was painful, drunk and technically a great golf game... just ignore Dave Attell). Can't say for certain when I first played Golf?, but I think…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forget tiger woods or johnny player or whatever, this is where its at. Do you like hitting balls with golf things? - If you do I don't understand why you are reading this instead of playing this game. A level editor would be cool and would probably elevate this to the greatest game of all time. Unfortunately this element is missing but this is a solid game worth playing through with friends if you have some.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Literally doesn't work. Renders a black screen in-game, no instruction on how anything works or what settings mean, and development seems dead. Please, please, avoid this. It's clearly some sort of lazy cash-grab. Even for a dollar this is abysmal. If they fix the game (big if), I'll change my review. But for now, waste of time and money, I'm not going to put in more effort than the dev did to make their broken product work. Put in a refund request.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very good much fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Actually a decent game. Needs more levels.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic game filled with hours of potential fun. Absolutely itching for an update though with more courses!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was a huge fan of GolfQuestionmark so I'm glad to see that it finally made its way to steam (under a new name). It's nice to have a full fledged golf game rather than just miniature golf(which is fun too). Plus, why wouldn't you want to drive around in golf carts with rocket sauce?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing the older version of this for something like 10 years, and now it's updated and works natively on OSX. Best golf game ever? I wouldn't know, I don't really even like golf but I sure do love this game. There's no better way to spend $5 assuming you have friends that will play this with you. Buy it, now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This looked hilarious, So i bought it for a friend and myself.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As typical as it is for the man who created this game, it hasn't been updated in almost a decade and most probably never will be. The man who created these games is a very close-minded and arrogant individual and these games will most likely sit and rot on this platform as another early access game never to be played again. It's like watching someone paint the Mona Lisa of video games, something so unique and sparkling like gold, then he proceeds to hit it with a sledgehammer and walks away as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this during a Devolver Sale for about two dollars. Spent about an hour mucking around with a friend, and playing through the nine holes available at the time of this review. And you know what? It may have been the best two dollars I've ever spent. The golfing itself feels well done, with mouse based swinging that feels good, and works even better. The art style is...strange bordering on unsettling, but not in a bad way. The music lends to the slightly creepy atmosphere, though I found…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forget about "The Golf Club" or alike. Go play this instead. Reliable controls, good physics, no random ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Really pleasing esthetics. And it runs on Linux. If it only had a level editor or workshop support, so the community could add more courses to it, it would be the perfect golf game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's got great controls and physics, and there's an amazing amount of freedom. Players can take their shots in turns, swing at the same time, rush to finish the course, or walk and drive around it at their leisure. Unfortunately, the game hasn't seen an update in almost two years. The same nine holes, even with the neat gimmicks some of them have, do get old after a while. A course editor/Workshop support would be a godsend. Still, as it is, Golf for Workgroups is a good buy at 5$. It's a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mad Golf game with robots
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's like golf inside my mind palace. 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Golf for Workgroups is very similar (if not the same game) as Golf? on windows 95ish? Anyway this is a fun golf game that you can play for a while with friends. There is only 9 holes, so there needs to be more, but the driving of carts is a different and fun experience. I do like the obstacles such as the water, the black holes and other things that I have no idea what to call. It seems like the difficulty messes with the gravity and forces you to be perfect with your shots. There is nothing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →it's pretty decent. thumbs up
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a very good Video Game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →BEST game I've EVER played 10/10 would golf again
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really unique and take on golfing simulators. BUT Game is abandoned in an unfinished state by this point. Only buy on deep sale, for under 1 or 2 bucks.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You should check out my favorite golf game, Golf for Workgroups - it's a surreal first person multiplayer golf game on Steam store.steampowered.com/app/572160/G...
unlabelledView post →@crypticsea.bsky.social would you ever go back and update Golf? for Workgroups so it supported AMD hardware? I love that game and would love to play it again but it runs so poorly it is unplayable
unlabelledView post →this game blew my mind
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nope, sadly its dead.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →for 5, nah. its like if golf with your friends had only one level but to make up for it had some weird art style to it that feels like "does this belong in a museum or is it simply not finished?" with that being said however, if its for 1, its a good foakin deal ma dude,
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This ♥♥♥♥ should have been delisted over 5 years ago.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tiger woods meets moonbase alpha = moist coworkers
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty jank, pretty glitchy. Fun to play with friends, we played four rounds with four friend and got about an hour and a half out of it. Probably won't start it again until there's a lot more content but it was easily worth the 1.24€ I got it for on sale.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DISCLAIMER: This is a first impressions review, and NOT a full review PLEASE NOTE: This review is/was written when this game was in/is still in Early Access. Think twice before buying/playing this game ALSO NOTE: I recommended this game with some exceptions, overall if the game did not live up to just a tiny expectation, I would not have recommended it at all, so please read the review carefully if you are thinking of buying/playing this game Golf for Workgroups is a... game developed by…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Near perfect in every way, the real next-gen experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →obnoxious game for awful people 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my go to games. Just simple fun. Great developers at Cryptic Sea. Best PC golf game I've played since 1996!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Isn't a bad concept but wow the music could use some work. It's pretty repetitive/dull. Other than that, i'd say get it on sale, because it really is just a good concept and not much else.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Golf for Workgroups isn't just a golf game, it's a golf game inside a surrealistic Dali fever dream. Giant robots, gravity shifting and other weirdness set this golf game apart from others https://youtu.be/IcQVdghYZag
