EDIT 3: LOL! I can't believe I am updating my review months later, but I hear and see that this game has been abandoned for many many months, with many glaring issues and bugs going unaddressed. Not surprised at all. This edit is A WARNING for any potential customers. See the behavior of the staff and the fact that the game has been abandoned for months, and proceed with caution. EDIT 2: I commented on a post from another user on the discussions, it was deleted, and then when I replied again…

Update: Now, years later, on the game itself, which finally hit 1.0. "Glitchpunk" is a very generic GTA 1/2 clone with batteries hacking included, I'd even say it is almost a carbon copy, but take it with a grain of salt as I did not touch GTA for ages. Also, please, note, that because "Glitchpunk" imitates the games of the era long gone, the gameplay feels dated, which is not an issue per se, but one should be ready to enjoy the gaming hardships of the times immemorial, heh. Update: The…

Caution: Contains game-crippling ADEROW DRM, Denuvo's parasitic smaller cousin via playgenuine. I got lucky and found this for $2.50 online from a real shady part of the internet. My pc is fairly high-end, however I had a lot of gameplay issues, stuttering, and several crashes requiring reboots. Not the typical behavior for 99.89% of games I run on this rig. There isn't much content to be had at the moment for the regular asking price. These early access games can go either way - a complete…

Update: There was a large patch on September 30th, Quality of Life update that should have fixed most of the serious technical issues. I haven't replayed the game yet. The game punked me immediately upon starting it by skyrocketing my fps to 482 in the main menu, effectively stun locking my GPU at 100% and 75°C in seconds. And my PC isn’t exactly a potato that needs frying, running an RTX2070, i7-7700K and 32GB of RAM, with an SSD to boot. Without capping the fps, it climbs to about 90…

I see potential in this game if the devs don't abandon their project and keep polishing it until it is fully complete. To speak for its current state, it's alright-ish. The main reason I got the game is because it reminds of the days I used to play GTA 2 when I was a kid. I hope devs keep supporting their game and improve it in the future.

This is not a review but more a warning. Right now, the third city/map does not seem to function. For me the game crashes every time when I try to load this map. The other 2 maps work perfectly fine. This also means that you can't play the 4th map as you need to have finished the story of map 3. I also haven't found any gameplay of map 3 or 4 online and with that in mind I believe that these maps are bugged and do not actually work. I concede that this could be a problem on my end, but why do…

Sadly, I can't recommend this right now. I'm a huge fan of the genre. 20 years ago I spent hundreds of hours playing GTA1 and GTA2. I like the core concept. I appreciate the idea of bringing it into a cyberpunk setting. But the performance issues are absolutely crippling. I couldn't enjoy the game. Once they are fixed I'll be back to play more and update my review.

GTA2 clone with terrible driving. Pros: • Looks and feels like GTA2 in almost every aspect • Additional cyberpunk elements • Some refreshing elements for GTA2 fans like: mouse targeting, diagonal roads, suburban areas, inventory system etc. Cons: • There is something really wrong with vehicle driving, which makes it MUCH harder and MUCH less satisfying, than original GTA2. I'm not sure what, though... Perhaps cars are too bouncy? Or too "slippery"? Or too light? • No tutorial whatsoever. If…

I am very sad to say that I cannot recommend this game in it's current condition. > Game is badly optimised and runs poorly > Resolution just seems off and textures poor quality > Police respawn just off camera and shaking the police seems near impossible > Story not engaging > Radio mostly talk radio and quite annoying I really hope it improves and I'll probably pick it up again on full release once these issues are resolved.

GTA 2 is one of my all-time favorite games. The weird mish-mash design of art deco, brutalism and futurism, the sick soundtrack, the wacky missions and dark atmosphere all made it really memorable for me. There was a reason why I played this game so much: I didn't have a proper PC, and I stuck with a really old one for many years. Therefore most of my video game consumption were old titles and really bad, dirt cheap, budget Polish games which flooded Hungary's market around that time (these…

If you think about spending money on this - DONT At this point game is just unplayable yet. Performance are so poor I couldn't control anything - basic movements make character stuck in one direction, esc to open main menu can't do it consistently. Graphics by default is setup to ultra, but all I can see is blurred stuff all over. It's not nearly similar to the gameplay trailer. It just ate all my RAM for nothing. I was able to play initial launch Cyberpunk on my device and had less…

GTA2-like that's a bit too overwrought for its own good. Got tedious to play real fast. It doesn't help that your character and the driving feel floaty and unresponsive so the moment to moment gameplay is rendered subpar. I can only recommend to those with a lot of patience for these type of games but we all know that's in short supply.

I really want to like this game, but it's hard. Technical difficulties aside (choppy frame rates), I spent most of my time in game trying to find npcs to kill, so I could have enough money to buy ammo or guns to run a mission. NPCs are ridiculously hard to find. so 1.8 of my 1.9 hours was spent running around an empty map just to get enough money for a basic weapon. **Edit** Came back a couple months later. If you treat it like a bullet hell, it's a bit more enjoyable. But... eehhhh. The…

Review of Alpha. Been on my wishlist ever since I saw it, since it did look a lot like gta2, which was my prime streaming game for a long time, so gave it a shot as soon as I could (didnt play demo though). Will start with positives: + Really does feel inspired by old gta's a lot: radio (humor and songs), gang-respect system, tank-controls in car, saves at home, burping, gouranga and other small things - pretty cool! + Upgrade system which carries itself into re-playthroughs + Multiple endings,…

I was expecting a GTA2-style-game with a cool cyberpunk look. What I got was a game that was far too difficult to control. Frustration from the second mission onwards, due to a difficulty level that was too high. Police cool down is way too high. It has frame drops and freezes some times. Yes it is EA, but please do something to make the game better.

Glitchpunk is a tribute to old school GTA style games with a cyberpunk skin. There are some fun elements like the mechanical modifications you can make to give yourself lots of ways of fighting enemies, but overall is kind of a shallow buggy experience right now and I'd say wait for a few updates before checking back in on it. Short take on this is to avoid as it is STILL a buggy mess with outright game-breaking bugs with a list of official work arounds posted in the forum. Not a great look that these haven't been addressed in the 18 months since it first hit early access. Started this out on the Steam Deck. While a plus is that it runs and detects the controllers, what isn't great is running head first into a bug where you get to the 2nd or 3rd tutorial prompt and cannot proceed. I don't understand why the hate against this game. Its a great GTA2 alternative, but its more than just a skin. The cars are indeed floaty, but that's because they are actually hovering. You can get used to it in 2 minutes. Just press SPACE to stop if you are sliding the wrong direction. BTW, it has never been easy to drive in GTA 1-2 either, and this is pretty much the same experience imo. Beyond the way the game was abandoned for a long period of time, the game just genuinely does not feel good to play. Floaty controls, cars hitting the most minor of obstacles constantly, and the horrendously boring missions ruin any value the game's story or visual design brings. The simplest summary I could give you is GTA2 with a cyberpunk skin. Mechanically it's not doing anything you haven't seen before, but that's not a bad thing. There's a decent if relatively basic story, good music and fairly large world with a lot of potential. You play an android bounty hunter, but really you're more of a mercenary. I won a key for this game in a giveaway on Twitch (thanks Bloodyfaster!) and after putting a few hours into it I can easily recommend it... if you liked GTA 2. Nostalgia alone isn't going to be enough to carry you through this game though. Just like games of the GTA 2 era the difficulty is a bit unrelenting and the learning curve is steep. Almost every component works not as expected: keyboard controls scheme is unintuitive, fps drops occur regularly (I have RTX 3070 laptop), campaign characters/employers talk a lot, but it is hard to catch what they need from you, it is really hard to understand if jump to the particular building/stairway is possible or not, the same for jumping down: only god knows — if it is going to hurt (or kill) you or not, lots of…

Cyberpunk GTA 2. I could forgive the bugs and annoyances here and there, but I can't forgive one thing: the driving is bad. Like, really bad. Here's a list of everything that came to mind, I could be forgetting some things too: (I will preface this by saying I used a controller the entire time I played, and some of these issues may not happen on kb+m.... like the acceleration when you exit a vehicle or firing your gun inside the car and hitting your own car every time you enter and hold down…

Promising But Needs Driving Fixes... I spent 2 hours diving into Glitchpunk, and overall, it's a good experience. The game looks fantastic, reminiscent of GTA 2 but with significant improvements. However, the driving mechanics need serious attention. Maneuvering feels awkward, often leading to frustrating situations like getting stuck in corners. Despite this, the missions are engaging, packed with action. I plan to revisit the game in the future, hoping the developers will have addressed…

Unfortunately I still can't recommend this game in the current state it is in. Driving is tragic, in my opinion there is no way to even learn it. Making a 90 degree turn in a narrow space is almost impossible without bumping into 50 things because of all the floating to the sides, also there is no way to do that without reversing once or twice first. New Balta - you start with 4 medkits, but the first contract requires you to buy one as part of the quest - why? So you end up without any free…

Awesome. Take GTA2. Feed it all kinds of drugs and some neons. But most importantly. Buy the game. On a more serious note. We all love GTA 2 for this one reason propably. Unique setting. A setting thats not really that much of a cyberpunk. There is very little of noir in both GTA 2 and Glitchpunk. But there is enough psychosis. Madness. Insanity is what sells this game and what was so charming in GTA 2 back in the days. Glitchpunk is psychotic and insane. I thought i hate its radio loops…

I absolutely love it, can't wait for future updates, love the ambient of the game, soundtrack of the game is absolutely brilliant. I'm a really bad driver but I managed to stay on the road :D I've played GTA from the very beginnings, and this game brings back the memories. So happy that creators put their time and effort to make this game!
