60 of 194 · most liked firstThe game is quite nice to look at and is fairly fun to play as a rather short and very casual game. It's definitely geared toward kids and if there were no combat it would be perfect for extremely sheltered young'uns -- though maddeningly twee and boring for adults. Without combat it would be mind-numbingly dull. Combat is very simple, you choose your weapon and click on the enemy and it auto-fights for you. It has a very basic skill tree where you are able to choose if you want to put xp…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An old style RPG that is worth a look. It has good charcterisation and quests, seems family friendly from what I have played. I give a quick overview of the game/ review here if you are intrested: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PajaF50hCng
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Driftmoon is, to put it plainly, too charming to resist. An extended love letter to Ultima VII and other adventure/RPGs of its era, it may not look like much, but it's a game with plenty of soul. While the plot isn't particularly amazing or original, the writing is consistently very light-hearted, genuinely funny, and manages to make even minor characters unique and memorable in just a handful of lines. It's rather short, but manages to feel like a complete, fulfilling experience all the same.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are some things I like about this game - it's a fairly user-friendly explore and dungeon-crawl thing, but as I got more into it and more used to it, it really had limitations. There are only a couple dozen different loot items, a bare handful of potions you can create, you can only play as a male character, and the religious undertones get more and more annoying - it starts off as a couple of monks and quotes (mostly harmless, but then there are a few about intellect being bad and faith…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is very undemanding on your computer which allows it to run on low end pc's which is a good thing. The game overall feels like it would be something I'd let my young child play if they were interested in a role-playing-game. The dialogue is very child like and the world is super colorful and vibrant. The combat is very easy (even on hard) and exploration is time consuming. The game functions though, and within its self it is fun to play, and fun to explore the environments. It feels…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you have bought Driftmoon, congratulations, you have bought a really good game. It is a classic RPG set in a very well crafted world of fantasy, with loveable characters (actually there are a lot of them) and an interesting plot. The game starts a bit slow, but the pace improves quickly and then you will be hooked. The sensation of 'What is next?" is present throughout the game. The skill and stats trees are simple but effective, you won't feel overpowered so combat needs your attention…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, this was another in a long list of games I own that came from some bundle or another. It looked pretty cool though, so I thought I would give it a try, and I am glad that I did. It's not the sort of game that will blow your mind, but what it does, it does well, and is the true definition of a solid game. An RPG that has similarities to Zelda-esque games as far as art style and even mapping to an extent, but without really trying to be that at all. In fact, I would say this game does a good…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short and simple RPG likely intended for children but still managed to entertain me. It tells a nice little story with a bit of humor mixed in here and there. The art style though simple brings a lot of character to the game. Combat is super easy but still fun to advance your character. It's not a bad little game to be honest.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So you get back from vacation to find everyone in town turned to stone including your mother. Your father has been taken by the evil King Ixal and it’s your job to save everyone. Hey why not, everyone wants to be a hero right. Driftmoon is an action RPG somewhat like the old school classic Zelda. You return to your home to find the whole village turned to stone except for one of your friends. He tells you all what happened and that your father was taken hostage by the evil King Ixal. Your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Driftmoon is a pleasant indie adventure RPG with entertaining mini-puzzles and dialogue. The game itself is very short but the quality humor keeps things lively. Here's what you should expect from the game: - lots of collectibles that require you to be attentive - small puzzles (small in the sense that they are not too hard) - easy battles (the battle mechanics aren't very deep but there are at least 4 layers of difficulty) - rewards for exploration (doing all the side quests affects the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had this game in my library for ages and ages. I can't even remember when or how I got it but it always seemed to be the game I passed on as it looked boring. Finally started it over the Xmas holiday and boy I am glad I did. I went into the game not knowing to much about it, I thought I would play for 5 mins and turn it off, maybe this is what made it good as I had no expectations of it at all apart from thinking it would be bad. The game itself has some pretty rubbish graphics, graphics do…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Meh! While it is overall a good game experience and not too short for the price ... well I completed it in about 6 - 10 hours (though steam says 30 ... but I started it and forgot it for roughly a day ... I basically never turn my computer off) . ... It has some awkward moments. Some are based on the fact that the game teaches you early on to move everything you can move in order to find everything. So you are often move heavy things around .... which move awkwardly slowly... taking almost…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game will always have a special place in my steam library. I had a different opinion on it compared to 99% of the playerbase, I knew I had to agree with the majority and I knew how many downvotes I would get If I decided not to. So now I'm reviewing the game again in more detail and saying exactly why I decided to give it a negative review.. but I don't think I can do it. I was capable of playing the game perfectly but I couldn't enjoy the combat and boring, mostly Point & Click gameplay.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Driftmoon - Very interesting ARPG. If you like an ARPG that there is no need to rush, and "it is" worth looking around to find all those little hidden things in each area, then Driftmoon is for you. I have not had such fun in an RPG game for sometime. But I must say for a two person team Driftmoon is excellent fun indeed. Some of the NPC's are rather unique and have some interesting story interaction, querky comments, and the oddest of vendors you find here and there. I have had a great time…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →At the beginning the game seems fun and interesting, but the overall emptiness and dull storytelling quickly bores the player. Audiovisuals are very nice, combat system is average, and in general it's a very average RPG. I can't recommend a purchase, but I have hope that the following games of the developers will be better. Driftmoon seems like an ambitious project of an unskilled developer, who might yet create something good in the future.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is terrible. It's wrote as if it's trying to appeal to young children, it's practically 'My first ARPG'. The dialogue is completely dross. The characters are bland, forgetful stereotypes and the quests and storyline have been dragged out of a selection of RPG tropes. It seemed pretty much bug free, so there's that going for it. However, I would not recommend this game to anyone.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game does not have the most advanced graphics you've ever seen. There, I sait it, it's the only point that I could allow myself to bring on the negative side of this review. What you will find in this game however is: A carefully, and brillantly written story that will bring you smiles along the way. Clever, funny and original dialogues with a great number of references towards very well known scifi/fantasy book authors and old-school games. Original and most often - unexpected -…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's hard not to be charmed by Driftmoon, and that goes a long way towards making this somewhat straightforward, graphically modest game such a joy to play. The writing is infused with a very European sense of humour, and it wears its influences proudly. The story isn't particularly deep, but the characters are witty, eccentric and weird, including pirate-talking crabs and condescending panthers. It's all set in a rustic world that's packed with little details and witticisms, and while the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A short, but extremely charming indie RPG in the way the RPG used to be, i just loved it. Also it can be modded witch is a great plus. 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have over 600 games in my Steam account, and the vast majority of them are still unplayed. So now I'm dedicating an hour to each of these games and writing a series of One Hour Reviews. An hour isn't very long to judge a game on, so think of this as more of a first impression, and take this review in the spirit in which it's given. Be sure to read other reviews from players who have spent more time in the game. One Hour Reviews #51 - Driftmoon At first glance, Driftmoon doesn't seem that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game. Great story. Great artwork. Graphics worked perfectly for the game. Fun little world to adventure around in. Interesting NPC's, each with a unique story and personality. I would recommend buying it if you're into top down RPG type games and like a good story. I would also recommend playing it with the diffuc The only downside for me is that it wasn't longer!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →AMAZING litle RPG game. This is more based on story than combat . It is more like story driven game with a bit of a action. This one is the MOST relaxing RPG game i ever played. It is completely like i said story driven no presure what so ever for combat ,there are hundreds of characters to speak to and every one have there own story to tell ,and all are long if you want to listen to ofc (BEST idea to do so ) It is just,, it's wonderful and relaxingto to read there stories. i really…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Driftmoon is what you would call a simplistic RPG. It incorporates all the cliche elements such quests, leveling up and combat without the complexity. There are only a few quests available with side quests thrown in. The writing is humorous and will keep you entertained. The music isn't anything special, but doesn't hinder the game. Combat revolves around clicking on an enemy to automatically attack, which is a problem when your surrounded as you can genereally only target one enmey at once…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not yet anyway. While I can see Driftmoon could become a great game one day, it's not currently in a very enjoyable state. I'm struggling to see at this stage what it's going to offer other than another playable, top-down Diablo-style RPG. The combat feels like an MMO, with auto-attack and skills about as far as it goes. It just doesn't feel like it's going to offer anything different or fresh at this stage. Additionally, this writing is verbose and hit-and-miss in my opinion. Some of the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a really charming top-down rpg with pausable real-time combat. not a fan of the latter, prefer turn-based, but on lower difficulties it shouldn't be a problem if you're in it for the story, characters and exploration, like I was. it's not too long and more or less linear with new locations opening up as you progress, but it's very funny and cheerful, we don't get a lot of games like this nowadays. monsters don't respawn, which is always nice, but natural resources for potions and such do over…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Am currently enjoying my playthrough of this game. Driftmoon reminds me of earlier RPG games, with a twist of Harry Potter and Little Big Adventure thrown in. I have read reviews criticising the game's soundtrack and graphics, which in both cases were not an issue for me. I wouldn't expect a game with AAA graphics for the price but everything here is well crafted and works. I really like the humour within some of the characters and the item names. The dev(s) have known when to use sound…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the best RPG games I ever played in a long time! It has everything you hoped for an RPG I finished the game around 14 hours! The game is wonderfully made with intresting humor, puzzles, chracters (well described characters), items and NPC's. You must play this game if you are one of the people who played old school RPG's games!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm with the negative reviews complaining that the devs' religious views are pushed overtly and constantly enough to genuinely impact the play experience. That said, the game is genuinely enjoyable in parts, with light-hearted and interesting characters, humour and references. It's a yes overall, but frustratingly close to being an excellent game, rather than a tolerable but tainted one. Whether you buy this should depend on your level of willingness to be proselytized at - if you aren't too…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A clever ARPG, light on action, heavier on story and exploring. There are puzzles, but none terribly mindboggling, and although it certainly fits in the ARPG category, if I had to pick a game it was most like, I would be tempted to say Monkey Island. My only complaint about Driftmoon would be the fact that in an attempt to collect the feathers, and you do want to collect as many as possible, you need to move every single barrel, rock, and piece of furniture in the game searching for them.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting indie mixed adventure-role playing game. It's not a gem and you must forget about it if you are just trying to find a hack and slash title focused mainly on combat and action. Driftmoon is not that kind of game. This one is more about dialogues and reading a lot (only in English at the moment). Game is full of humor, a little cheesy but wonderful if you (like me) like also these things. I really cant made any complaint about that. You can even feel good or bad for the characters if…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game has lots of humor, good puzzles to make you really think, a cliched but well written story, interesting characters and gameplay. Definitely worth the 10 hours to complete it. Edit: 10 years later, the devs are still providing the occasional bug fixes and updates. Two thumbs up from me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Driftmoon is a lovely little action RPG / adventure game created by a team of two people that I had the chance to play before it got its steam edition. Now that it's on Steam, I'm hoping it'll receive a bit more attention. It's got a good story, it's fun to explore, it's got about 15 to 20 hours of content, and the combat is okay (not that great, but it's not a major focal point of the game). Graphics aren't the greatest, but they really don't matter and they accomplish what they need to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Having a good time playing this with 5- and 3-year old brothers on my lap. The oldest one has started drawing Driftmoon screens on paper, very sweet. I probably wouldn't play it alone, though the game certainly has a very unique charm and is very accessible without being pandering.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Welp. 6 years late to the party but Driftmoon is the real deal. And in the hellsacape that is 2020, it's also a breath of fresh air. It's a top-down indie rpg-lite developed by a Finnish husband/wife duo. And while it's old as dirt it actually saw an EE refresh just this past April. Beyond the fact that it can run at a billion fps on a toaster with modern hardware, what immediately struck me was how clean and straightforward the presentation and game design was. In an age of Ubisoft sandbox…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played it few years ago, when it wasn't on steam yet. I don't remember everything but what I do remember is that it was a wonderful experience for me. The developers created a fantastic world and they've put a lot of love into it, I'm sure of that. It's an interesting RPG with few twists here and there. In short: The combat system is the one and only weakness of the game. If you really love fighting and you are not interested in other game mechanics then this is not a game for you. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →More than a decade ago, I briefly played Runescape. There were low-fi graphics, point-and-click pickups, skill trees that were obviously more useful than others, and tutorials of questionable utility. In many ways, Driftmoon reminds me of Runescape. The graphics are a bit better, the game tries along the way to sortof let you know how to play but not really, and some of the skills are clearly better than others. They are similar enough that I almost missed the mining bots taking up all the…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is quite charming, smooth, and enjoyable to play. The graphical style is very attractive but not overly demanding on my poor processor and video card. Don't play it expecting a challenge, however: the final boss took me all of about 15 seconds to beat, and it really didn't get any harder than that throughout the game. There is a food system but the base game doesn't offer any real risk of starving, since food is so plentiful. Crafting is useful, but, again, resources are so plentiful…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best indie games I've played and reviewed. It is not much in case of the sound, graphics or gameplay and it is trivial as a game but the soul of the game is what captivates you and motivates you to continue untill you finish it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game for me is a lot of fun. It has a great story and lots of fun side quests. The combat is a throw back to older hack and slash games. If you are a looking for a relaxing fun game, give this a try. I guarentee you can't go wrong with this.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the few games that features a complete Bible! Not just excerpts but an entire Bible. The dev is like a digital Gideon. So any Christian gamers should throw this guy a bone for spreading the good word.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would consider Driftmoon to be an excellent game that combines some really funny humor with old-school top-down RPG mechanics. It's a role-playing game where you play the role of [Insert Name Here], a wayward village son who returns home in response to an urgent message from his father -- only to find the entire citizenry of his village petrified by mysterious magic. Without question, my favorite part of the game is the humor. The storyline is great and the conversations between NPCs are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely great game for anyone who likes RPG-games. It really needs an autosave-feature tough because I had to play one hour to get my progress back when I forgot to save.. I liked: -The story -Lot of stuff to scavenge -Deep dialog-system -NPC's have their own unique personalities -Graphics -Supports modding I did not like: -The combat system was too simple and I've seen it in dozens of other games. -Fewness of side quests. (Although the side quests were more interesting than in other…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing Driftmoon is a bit like reading an old, quality children's story, back when they weren't just written for children. The graphics are simple, the controls are straightforward, the story is definitely aimed at the younger set and the skills aren't terribly complex. That said, combat is quick and fun, with just enough variation and challenge to be enjoyable without being overbearing, and there are enough skill choices and options to feel like you're both making progress, and making the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just play on casual and change to hard after last boss for easy hard mode achieve Colourful, vibrant, not too difficult, maybe a little bit too basic, but definitely enjoyable. Very well suited for younger players just getting into gaming. A couple of light-hearted jokes thrown in too for good measure. It's a pretty standard rpg, following the age-old formula of levelling for better stats, gear progression, skills, some simple combat and exploration, and a pretty standard story of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Driftmoon is one of the few games that surpassed my original expectations of it. Completing it actually made me feel satisfied, achieved, and bittersweet. I never could expect what was going to happen next in regards to the storyline... and I was very surprised at how random, yet inevitably connected the interactions and quests with the NPCs all around were. Battle-wise, it was starkingly simple, but I had no problem with that. It allowed me to explore all around more without being hindered…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the mot enjoyable Rpg game I have played in a while. There are lots of reading in this game. Fun quests and interesting story. I totally recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really enjoyed Driftmoon, and recommend it to anyone who still loves "old-school" rpg's at their best. My only disappointment was that it was to short. I wanted more! Took me about 10 total hours to finish the game. I would love to see a sequel down the line to this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best RPG's I have played in a long time. Highly recommend it and there are mods to make it better as well!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Neat little game. It is only a couple of hours long and it is suited for kids if you want to let yours have a go at it. I had my heartwarming fun haha. It is nice to have simple games where you fight with silliness and everyone gets a happy ending.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Driftmoon is one of those games that I can't seem to stop coming back to play every so often, despite having lost count of how many replays I got on my record by now. It's just so full of charm and fun, obviously a labor of love. This is a simple RPG that, while being very accessible to young kids or people who prefer to stick to the exploration and story side of things, can still be quite challenging on the hardest difficulty. It's chock-full of classic but lovingly crafted story tidbits,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Enjoyable RPG with a good Linux port
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Driftmoon is an enjoyable action/adventure/rpg. There's a decent amount of story with light humor laced throughout the game. The combat is a little meh and feels kind of like "babies first action rpg", but it doesn't detract too much from the game. It's worth a look if you're up for something new.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lovely, relaxing little RPG with a high level of polish and attention to detail. The story is a fairly standard fantasy trope (evil king made a MacGuffin to rule the world, it got stolen and broken up, now he's trying to reassemble it and you are the World's Last Hope!) but the characters are charming and funny and there are some clever plot twists involving time travel. Combat isn't terribly difficult and doesn't require much in the way of tactical thinking, but is well implemented and not…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a fun little indie game. It combines the old text-RPG's with a more modern format. It also incorporates more than just combat, as it includes the occasional riddle/puzzle-solving in order to proceed. The classes are implied and chosen through a skill tree & attribute chart, but mimic the traditional melee/range/magic roles. Players are rewarded for exploration, and this is one of those rare games where they also get in-game rewards for achievements! The story is fairly light-hearted…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although a bit rougher than your triple AAA RPG title, Driftmoon has a proper setting, story, character list, and exploration that will keep delivering after every encounter. I played a full 11 hours straight, I almost had 100% completionist (some secrets I could not find, but overall should not impact your gameplay whatsoever). The one thing that really struck true with me is how every action of mine had a consequence in the game, most of the time surprising me that keeping that random item…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't know why, but somehow it really took me a long time to finally get to play this game. I think it is a real little gem. A surprisingly interesting story with many plot twists and side stories. Really humorous without being childish or feeling forced. Don't expect a challenging or complex fighting system. But it has some fun little physics puzzles and you can always discover something in the world.
