Free Running
Developer Rebellion
Free Running is a 2007 video game for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable, Wii and Microsoft Windows, developed by Rebellion Developments and Core Design and published by Ubisoft, Reef Entertainment, and Graffiti Entertainment. A Nintendo DS version was planned, but cancelled. The game was originally due for release in 2005 but was delayed due to apathy from its original publisher, Eidos. From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

60 of 76 · most liked firstI got the PSP version of it a while ago to pay homage to Core Design, who worked on that port. I also got the PC version on CD too, but the latter didn't work presumably due to on disk DRM that Windows 10 no longer supports. Now that it's seen a rerelease on Steam, I snagged a copy faster than David Belle in Soap shoes. It plays like a cross between Mirror's Edge and Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones meets Tony Hawk's Underground 2, having a large variety of moves, such as the chimney jump…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Perfect release! 4K support, runs like a charm and fun as I remember. Controls were always a pain but they'll grow on you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like parkour or want to learn parkour tricks this game is just perfect is based only on parkour..al you have to do is run and do tricks..considering the year of release i consider it a very good game..very realistic ..you can choose a character you like and change his/her clothes..i consider worthy for the parkour fun you will have without harm yourself. have fun !!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →why has no one told me they put this game on steam in 2019 as someone interested in this niche sport i don't have too many games to indulge in but at least this exists pc port isn't the greatest, supports high resolution but controls are pretty bad without a gamepad and it's capped at 30 FPS. i think it's based on the ps2 version which is what i played a lot back in the day. can feel a bit clunky for today's standards, but getting the hang of it and chaining smooth movement is satisfying and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →*I originally played this on PS2 and PC before it was released on Steam for ~15 hours* Free Running is a difficult game to recommend, but I still say I would recommend it, but with a one major caveat. I would not recommend this game if you don't have a controller, cause honestly, the PC controls are pretty abysmal and just not intuitive enough to enjoy the game with. A controller is just needed to enjoy this game. Putting that aside, Free Running is a pretty solid game for what it is, it's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's worth playing this game because of the experience, but the reuploaded version of this game is kinda eh, there aren't any videos, and some songs are missing, same with outfits. The game no longer has the OG Traceurs like Sebastien Foucan instead they are named, voiced differently as well as they models look different. And one thing that's been bugging me the most is the steam badge names. Tracer? You mean Traceur?!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let's make this one short. It playes and feels like the Wii version back in 2010. The graphics have recieved minor improvements, for example there is Full-HD and 4K support. Controlls are easy to learn and you can learn new parkour moves with almost every new buttonpress. Don't let the time recorded on my steam account fool you! I loved the Wii version of the game which i could only as long as i had the money to buy a new nunchuck every time i broke one when i got angry losing a race against…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Free Running is one of the first games I made screenshots for on Steam, though as a non-steam game, back in 2011, 8 years later the game is finally available on Steam officially! Previously besides PSP, it was only available in Germany and maybe 2 more countries, as physical disks, just very limited access in general, I still managed to get it, had tons of fun with it, even played with my friend over LAN. This one feels like it's basically the same game, the only difference it may have over…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is FAR better than it has any right to be. Is it a bit dated? Yes Is it a complete free-running experience? No Are there minor tweaks that could have made this amazing? Definitely But for the low price (I paid £4.79) it is honestly a very well rounded and unique representation of the free-running movement. Yes the camera can be frustrating at times, and there should be much more customisation and level diversity, but you would be genuinely hard-pressed to find anything that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very fun and nostalgic game, it's simply enjoyable to run/jump/flip/swing/wall-run around and explore the various locations while doing lots of fancy tricks. The game has quite a good amount of content for the cheap price, taking around 7-10+ hours to 100%. Although it does have a couple notable flaws that you will have to try and look past: The biggest issue is the camera, it normally tries to stick behind you, and it does a passable job most of the time, but if you try to move the camera…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just discovered a new OOB pole glitch in the game Free Running! This is the first pole glitch that doesn't involve an NPC clip. I suspect it has something to do with the pole being elevated above the floor with that little platform underneath it. I might have to look for more elevated poles later.
unlabelledView post →Good game people still complain control are hard but it's possible to learn untill you learn you see how fun it is to play Well camera is a little different and i can't use it and i can't even use WASD only arrow keys so yeah butttt to use tricks you have to use the other keyboard like wasdorosarfkaor you know but to move arrow keys camera not involved It's hard but i like the game and yes I DID COMPLETE THE GAME SO cool!!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Easily Free Running. It's a parkour game that is closer to something like Skate than Mirror's Edge. You can do air or ground tricks while running around. You don't really move that fast, and the controls can be clunky, but afaik there's nothing exactly like this game.
unlabelledView post →I was recently introduced to the PlayStation 2 release, and several days later, I found that it was released on PC as well, and in 2019 a re-release. I've since compared every release. What do I think of this one? It's good, but Core Design could've done better. Let me explain. The game is all there, and everything that people loved, however only the PlayStation 2 release was developed solely by Rebellion. The PSP, Wii, and Windows releases were co-developed by Core Design. Core Design…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I first heard it in this game called Free Running which that in *itself* is an interesting game. It's one of the last games Core Design developed (at least the PSP version) and you can kinda see where they were going with their Tomb Raider experience. Execution was eh www.youtube.com/watch?v=3h_u...

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game looks and seems like it could be very interesting and fun to play but unfortunately extremly clunky, difficult and unreliable controls gatekeep the experience, which makes it unenjoyable to play. (4.4/10)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the best parkour game ever made and nothing comes close. Make Freerunning 2!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Never played Free Running, but Bully was a great game
unlabelledView post →complete fever dream of a game I watched some very low quality videos back in like 2010 of this game and knowing it got ported to pc recently does not feel real. Even playing this game now feels weird like Dreamscape should be playing in the background at all times. Works well on a Windows 11 machine. You will most likely need to add the launcher and the game exe on graphics settings so that the launcher can see your actual card. Launching the game without this makes your onboard graphics the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hardcore parkour
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Look... Childhood was one h*ll of a thing... This game ain't it am sorry guys For a FREE RUNNING game it's the clunkiest game I've ever played, Janky as anything and bugs galore With a game that's emphasis is on precision jumps the fact you can't control your char exactly the way you want completely makes the game a gambling simulator every time you take the leap Which is fine on it's own but most of the progression is hidden behind timed or time sensitive events IE races. And when this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One that defo deserves more love, Free Running (one of Core Design's last games) has many original tracks (from their longtime sound guy Martin Iveson) with a lotta rad techno, breakbeat, d'n'b, and many others; 100% a soundtrack to check out (and a neat game too) youtu.be/3X9ehypU14A
unlabelledView post →this game is awesome think of it like tony hawks of parkour
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Controls are a little over-technical and convoluted at first so you need to take the time to learn them. But if you're willing to do that this is a pretty fun game if you're into those old arcadey extreme sports games like Tony Hawk Pro Skater/Jet Set Radio or if you're into 00s cheese.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you played this in 1877 then I bet youll love reliving it if you didnt and have no standards, you might still like it if you didnt but played literally any other game in your life, this may not be for you 2/10 not mirrors edge, probably cool for the boomers love, faith from mirrors edge, definitely not propaganda :3
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a nice parkour game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →loved this game on the ps2 decided to relive the nostalgia unfortunately thats where i went wrong at the time the game was amazing but it doesnt live upto today standards and doesnt control all that well for me personally it belongs in the past with the fond memories and not worth playing again

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Free Running is an ancient game from 2009. It's a whopping 16 years old at the time of this review. The game lacks support for the typical features of modern gaming PCs, hasn't been modernised or updated to run smoothly on contemporary machines. The game looks and feels dated. Despite this lack of modernisation, it carries a pretty high price tag for such an old game. This seems to have be lingering on Steam with an inflated price to try profit from abandonware. And wow... this game is…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great tribute to parkour and freeruning, especially in movement variety, but the gameplay is bad. Those who got used to it I believe had a blast.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game, old and great
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Had this on my PSP back in the day and as soon as I saw this released on Steam I instantly bought it. You need a good skill to make nice parkour moves.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's like being a kid and watching the invisible man parkour outside the car window, except you are the invisible man and you can't parkour worth a damn.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As my opinion on this game is fueled by the nostalgia of playing it 12 years ago on my PSP, this review obviously can't be objective. But does that really matter? "objectively" speaking, this game is pretty clunky and not that great design-wise. Some of the levels are pretty convoluted and not in a good way, leaving not as much freedom as I would expect from a Parkour game - "Mill" is a great example, with the level forcing you into a climbing section which is pretty slow, non-responsive and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best dollar Ive ever spent
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a game from my childhood. love it always. still nobody topped these parkour mechanics.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A one-of-a-kind game that's as much fun as when it was originally released. It's bascially "Tony Hawk's Pro Skater", but "Sébastien Foucan's Pro Runner", except the licensing for him probably ran out since 2007. I really recommend the game at it's usual price, but with any sort of discount it's basically a must-buy.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →damn great game, iconic
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the aesthetics and the level design. Controls are okay when you get into the flow.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My childhood game... I didn't even know it exists on steam. I'm so sorry. I bought it now and recommend it to everyone that was or is loving parkour games and parkour in real life.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like tic tacing
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was the first game I ever bought with my own money back when it launched on the PS2 and now I have it immortalized in my steam account. Thank you Rebellion for making this super fun game a part of my life forever and it's because of this game I started parkour (I am now a certified Traceur).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a fun game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is genuinelu a good game. It's got the PS2 era visuals, gameplay and all the DnB + Boombass beats you need.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game when it was released on my uncle playstation2 and I was amazed, when I saw game on steam a feeling of nostalgia overwhelmed,i played on PC is just good as on playstation, i would recommend no matter what device you play it on, the game is just fantastic.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →cool game! really nice to see this on Steam
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PS2 Nostalgia. Parkour and Freerun forever!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An older, but still very fun game. There are several different maps you can play around in either in a free mode where you can do what every you want to do, or in specific modes (time races, scoring, etc.). It takes a bit of time to get used to the camera which is pretty close to the character and moves whenever the character does. So if you turn the camera turns as well, but not instantly. This means that if you want to turn while standing still you run blindly for a bit which is hugely…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a game from my childhood back when I did parkour by myself. I was really happy to find out that it is on steam and it works on win 10. Yeas, there are some bugs and controls can sometimes be frustrating but i still like this game a lot. The music is great, challenges are interesting and there are multiple maps where you can "use your traceur vision". I like it)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game. Somehow, to this day I feel like we still haven't gotten another parkour game that tops it yet. Though admittedly, my judgement may be heavily clouded by nostalgia, considering I was obsessed with the game as a tween. Free Running (a title so stupidly generic, it is just about impossible to find anything about this game anywhere online) is essentially the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater of free running, though it's more grounded in reality. You have a selection of small stages to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Free Running is a parkour-focused action and sports game that places movement at the center of virtually everything it does. Instead of treating climbing, vaulting, and wall running as secondary traversal mechanics, the entire experience revolves around mastering these techniques and using the environment as an obstacle course. Developed and published by Rebellion, the game carries the unmistakable qualities of an older generation of 3D games, but its unusually dedicated approach to parkour…
