What people are saying
Mostly positive, with praise for music and tactics, but some criticize RNG and lack of updates.
Players generally enjoy the game's combination of deckbuilding and grid-based tactics, with many comparing it favorably to Slay the Spire and Into the Breach. The soundtrack and aesthetic are widely praised as standout features. [3][7][15][24]
However, some players find the RNG frustrating and the difficulty punishing, with auto-attacking enemies limiting deck options. Others note a lack of developer support and bugs that remain unpatched. [3][9][25][31][32]

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One run turned into five before I noticed. At some point my deck suddenly started working exactly the way I hoped. Cards chaining into each other, enemies getting pushed around the room, and every turn feeling just a little stronger than the last. That’s the moment Nitro Kid really clicks. You stop thinking about individual cards and start watching your build do ridiculous things you definitely didn’t plan when the run began. Then a boss shows up and reminds you the game is still a…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: A hidden gem amongst the CCG roguelike scene. The music is amazing, the balance and RNG, not so much. Genre/Similar Games: Deckbuilding collectable card game (Slay the Spire) + fighting (Fights in Tight Spaces, or so I’m told) PROS: ✅Some fun and unique build concepts ✅Stellar music CONS: ➖RNG is pretty bad ➖Pretty darn difficult Content (Game world/Narrative/Lore/Length/P2W/Mods) – [4/10] In Nitro Kid (NK) you take on the role of one of three operatives, each with their own…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In short: this game is a thousand times better than I expected. Since I installed it, I've made it a habit to never go to bed without playing it a little beforehand. It has become a ritual.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've become slightly, ahem, obsessed with roguelike deckbuilders over the past few years. As a result, I've played a good number of them. Nitro Kid is one of the better ones out there and is the kind of game that I will come back to even after going a few weeks or months without playing it. The game features three unique heroes with disparate play styles and decks. I find the difficulty just about perfect, with the game being challenging without feeling cheap. There are plenty of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Generic deckbuilder. Nothing new. Imho - into the breach, fights in tight spaces, griftlands - are better. Nice music though. And overall it is not that bad on a sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The font is too small on the steam deck. The game feels fun but hard to play on a smaller screen. An update with bigger font could change ts.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don’t understand people that say this is a “fights in tights spaces” copy. The realty is that both games have two things in common that you move on a grid and push mechanics. For me those games are very different. I personally like more nitro kid because there is more synergies and combos. And the soundtrack is VERY good one of the best.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got pretty excited when I realised this game was included in the humble bundle I got as Fights in Tight Spaces is one of my favourites, and another take on the genre sounded like a good thing. Unfortunately this game just isn't fun to me. It's pretty much FiTS but in smaller & more claustrophobic areas where the environment matters far less, with most enemies autorotating so movement is largely pointless (and far less interesting), and blocking tends to require all of your energy &…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent deck builder with a pleasing aesthetic. It's a shame this game isn't more widely known.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you have played FIGHTS IN TIGHT SPACES (FITS) and loved it, this is more of the same with a few worthwhile twists. The twists are the powers that let you save up moves and other things for when you need them, deepening your long term planning ability. There is really nothing I like about the gameplay in FITS that is not also present in NITRO KID. I would advise finishing FITS first, and then when you get bored and need that same fight/card-building that you loved in FITS, play NITRO KID.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The moving system makes it extremely fun and tactical. Great music. It is a pity there is no ending of any kind, just the endless run. Somebody needs this, but I'm getting bored after a while without a rewarding goal.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3/`10 played as 3 different people in this game and the movement system in place is awful for all of them - feel weak as hell whacking enemies for hardly anything, fight can drag on.... enemy moves away and ranged shoots me i can move once and get close to them in a single turn, must end turn cause all my cards are attack are melee attacks end turn cause i cant do anything enemy moves away and ranged shoots me
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR Take daze cards The game has its charm, but so far the only thing that matters in my runs is if your deck can deal with auto-attacking enemies. If it can, you will clear the run, if it can't you're dead. It is an overly powerful enemy mechanic that greatly restricts deck composition. Enemies that have both chase and auto-attack have very few answers. Auto-attack typically applies effects through whatever damage negation you have in your deck, or threatens enough damage through scaling…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good combination of Slay the Spire and Enter the Breach.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No idea how this game has such high ratings. I would request a refund if I didn't get this through the humble bundle. It is just a really bland and uninspired deckbuilding roguelike. It technically works; but, I played it for half an hour and that was enough for me. The idea is sound but the implementation is really clunky and boring. Also the game is extremely proud of its synthwave but the soundtrack was extremely unmemorable. I was hoping for something akin to Hotline Miami OST but…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think FTL might have been my overall favorite game of the 2010's. Anything with a space setting can immediately get my attention, but I think it also managed to be just the kind of roguelite gameplay I love, too. Fights in Tight Spaces and Nitro Kid are the closest I've seen to Into the Breach's puzzly/must-think-ahead style. Both are card-based battlers, though.
unlabelledView post →Its pretty cool. I snagged this for 4 dollars on the steam sale. If you're looking and the idea seems cool, I can confirm the game works as intended is fun to play. BANGER soundtrack as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm honestly not much into these Card style Games. But i find this one fun to play. When starting a Game you got your base set of moves (cards), but throughout a session you collect more and more cards. The more you look into it, the more you can see how tactical it is to choose a set of cards, which fits in use with cards you already got. And on your next run, you can try out a different set of cards. But every session start as simple as it gets, and there aren't many rules to learn or…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game doesn't have much content and by that I don't mean the 3 characters & sparse unlocks. It doesn't feature any lore or setup or story or anything to keep you motivated. Even the setting feels wasted due to that. The game has some very predefined "playstyles" and nothing else works. There is no mixing of strategies and since you can just "skip" card choices you can always almost force particular builds, since the "artefacts" you can collect in run are not build enabling in any way. So…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After 20+ more of gameplay I need to update the review. It remains positive and does fill the hole left by Fight In Tight Places but my opinion on the game went a bit downwards. So what is this game? It's a synthwave stylish FITP that borrows more from Slay The Spire (the pinnacle of deck building roguelikes IMO) and tries to be big brain like Into The Breach (and also be pixel artsy like it). Even where the art is sloppy it's still better than STS and the characters are more diverse, more…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun turn based roguelike, fights take place in a grid based battlefield and positioning is important as you can see where enemies will be attacking, they also do respond to your movements although you can prevent them from doing so with certain abilities. The 3 heroes have completely different playstyles and decks of abilities so give them all a try, I particularly liked the 3rd hero and her gun/ammunition based abilities. Good way to spend a few hours of fun and its on sale pretty…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gameplay is similar to Fights in tight spaces, but sufficiently different to make it fun in spite of the hundreds of hours I spent on FITS. If you like either, you'll also like the other. Also recommended if you like card battlers in general - the positioning aspect adds a tactical level that many deck building games are missing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Nitro Kid is both Excellent and Heart Pounding!" As a dedicated gamer who loves a good challenge, Nitro Kid has quickly become one of my favorite roguelike games on Steam. From its addictive gameplay to its outstanding sound design and retro visuals, this game has it all. First and foremost, the gameplay is incredibly engaging. Each run feels fresh and exciting, with procedurally generated levels that keep you on your toes. The difficulty curve is just right – challenging enough to keep…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a fan of both Slay the Spire and Into the Breach. I bought this game because of the similar gameplay style + the 80's synthwave aesthetic. I think it is pretty fun even if it lacks some of the depth of those other games. At the end of the day, I've already played multiple runs with all of the characters, and I can still see more replay value in the game even after 20+ hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This takes two of my favourite games - Slay the Spire and Into the Breach - and creates a delicious chimaera of them. So far I'm enjoying it. Hard to shake some of the similarities to STS (you might pick up a card and think "oh it's a Blade Dance", "oh it's a Catalyst"), but there's enough interesting and unique stuff that it feels like its own thing. The similarity to Into the Breach is more in terms of the battle mechanic, but the comparatively generous health bar leads to less pure…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don’t make this your first deckbuilder game, but if you’ve played Slay the Spire and enjoyed it and enjoyed it and want a new experience, this is a great grab. Adding movement to the game adds an extra layer of strategy to the genre, and becomes even more challenging the further in you get. Playing as the character with guns was an intriguing experience, albeit a tougher one to get the hang of (although, the same may be said about the game as a whole). Fun and colorful graphics, great 80’s…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Maybe I have just played STS too recently but the this feels a great deal like STS with 4x4 grid movement. Everything from The feel of the starter deck to the campfire crystals and merchant with one item always on sale. Its not a bad game, just... idk, it doesn't feel good.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Deck building games are popular because of their addictive gameplay loop and delicate balance between skill and luck. For those of us with that special affliction, card games like Slay the Spire light up all the bulbs in our heads. I'd recently started to reach for extra Slay the Spire content, downloading the popular game extending mod even. While Slay the Spire is amazing, I've beaten all the content on multiple devices and just NEED MORE! Thankfully my pleas have been answered by the fine…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was all i hoped it would be. 4/5 + Good music + various tactics available + not too complicated + not too simple Similar to: Fights in tight space
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you like Fight in Tight Spaces you most likely will like this game pretty fun cool soundtrack im enjoying it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →IF THE DEV IS READING THIS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE ADD STEAM DECK OR CONTROLLER SUPPORT. AND NO THE TOCUH SCREEN DOESNT COUNT. i HATE WHEN GAMES DO THAT. I have 120 hours in Knights in Tight spaces, and like 50 in FITS I LOVE these types of deck builders, ones that combine movement and different skills all in a combat arena in which you have to kill the enemies, get block and use various finishers and powers. Now would I reccomend this game for the casual, non card game addict Probably not.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →what an unexpected find! Such a great little game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mostly recommend, if you like deck building and a light, short tactics battles. I love the card abilities and art style/setting. Somehow the actual tactics in play and tedious to me, despite the abilities being interesting. Deck building is given lots of opportunities to add/remove and upgrade. Does a good job of feeling like you're building up things. Feels like it allows meaningful replay value. Multiple bosses you might find, different characters to play, and deeper levels that open as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A unique card game that combines elements of roguelike and strategic deck building. We will immerse ourselves in the atmosphere of bright neon lights and 80's synthesizer music and explore the endless floors of a mysterious tower full of enemies, traps and hidden rewards. Players start their journey by choosing one of the unique agents, each with a special ability and play style and as we progress through the game, we will collect our own deck of cards that can be found on the floors of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this well enough in demo but I've struggled to work out how to get it to feel as nice to play in full release. There are also little bugs that feel like they should have been patched out but I haven't seen any patches since release. I may just be bad at the game and at its core its enjoyable but i wouldn't rate it more then 6/10 atm
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Oh if you want games kinda similar to Midnight Suns, check out Fights in Tight Spaces and its upcoming sequel Knights in Tight Spaces, and Nitro Kid, all on Steam. Also Holocure because it is an awesome Vampire Survivors game, has really good pixel art, and it’s free!

Wanna see : *longer run like 2-3 more stages before final or depends on dificulty lvl . *Beeter rerun mechanic. Now we have only lvling with 1 new perk and skill. Mb its made for balance to not make char OP but i dont feel progres. For example for lvl 2 4 6 8 10 we can add/discard/upgrade 2/2/3/4 card in our start deck, For lvl 3/7/10 we can…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Like Slay the Spire and almost as good. It's got that cool 80s vibe to it that I love. Highly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nitro Kid tried and failed at copying Fights In Tight Spaces. I saw the negative reviews and how it was on G2A for literally a dollar so I got it just to see how bad it really was. It's bad guys... Movement is horrible and 50% of enemies auto move anyways so you just have to take the hit every time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Compared to a lot of its competitors, the game as a whole falls quite short. If the concept of this game interested you but the execution felt disappointing, I recommend giving Alina in the Arena a look, as well as fights in tight spaces.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great roguelike with a unique take, makes for many fun runs but trips over it's own feet due to lack of sustainable build options (or rather, placement and damage is generally better than defense). Pros - Great music and aesthetic, pretty unique even for games of it's type. - Pretty fun cards to use and most felt pretty useful up until the later security difficulties. - Solid replayability, I'm up to about 60 hours and have only recently gotten to the final difficulty. - Combos feel fun to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If Slay the Spire, XCOM, and Kung Fury had a baby.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Mostly a great game. The art and music are excellent. The world building is nice if lacking in a bit of substance. The combat feels great once you know what you are doing. However, the bosses act as road blocks that can kill runs if you approach them with the wrong build (even ones that are powerful in the rest of the game). This restricts the freedom of build choices in a way that feels like a buzzkill. Lastly this game falls victim to the same problem as other roguelites, such as Peglin,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Addictive deck building roguelike with heavy style - Worth the price of admission for the soundtrack alone, but the game is a blast to play too.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An excellent deck-building, tactical game with a thick layer of 80s neon sci-fi aesthetics on top! Think of this as Into the Breach with the added complexities of the deck-building and roguelike mechanics. Each of the three playable characters - fictionalized versions of Bruce Lee, Mike Tyson and Trinity from the Matrix - have radically different play-styles which makes for good replayability. Great pixel art and animation and cool synth tunes complete the retro presentation. Here's hoping the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What if an 80s soundtrack had its own deckbuilder?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Approved. Deckbuilding, tactics, tight positioning, cool 80s visuals and soundtrack.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Didn't like the Mandatory Damage mechanics in Fights in Tight Spaces, but I think it's actually worse in this. Literally EVERYWHERE I STAND does me damage to exist? Nearly every single Death feels that way; like it has nothing to do with me in the sense of what I could have done about it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great combination of turn-based tactics and deckbuilding. The cards play really well with positioning on the board. There are three characters with their own decks and different play styles. The card drafting is just random enough to make it manageable with lots of opportunities to try and build the deck you want. Still a challenge and frustrating at times, but an enjoyable game if you like this style.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not for me. 3/10.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this game at a pretty steep discount but I've really enjoyed what I've played of it so far (12+ hours, only just unlocked the third character) POSITIVES - The premise, the 80's' vibe and the synth music - The graphic design and the UI are very, very clean. Me likey. - I like the use of Bruce Lee (L33) and Mike Tyson (J4X) as inspiration. Both feel quite different from each other. I've not played as the third character yet. - J4X's combo mechanic is cool, encouraging the player to rack up…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game ticks all the boxes for me: - great vibe/feeling; 80's nostalgia - both tactical and strategical depth - enormous fun factor - challenging (enough) - fast, fluent gameplay Love it!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a bit too short, but I enjoyed every moment of it. I love the basic mechanic and vibe. I feel like this is a foundation for a truly great 10/10 game. I hope that there's more like this coming.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →if you're playing on a steam deck, the best controller layout is to throw your steam deck against the wall.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nitro Kid will almost certainly appeal to Slay the Spire, Into the Breach, Shogun Showdown, etc. fans. The graphics are simple, yet exciting and vibrant, and the 80s-inspired music is sure to have your head rhythmically bopping along. Thanks to three different characters to choose from that each have unique decks and traits, Nitro Kid is addictive and its replay value is high. Your game progress is saved often, and you're able to log out at any time without any concern. This is great for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A lot of fun, good balancing, and worth the buy. I think for the 2nd unlockable character, there should be a encore card for switching to pistol. Getting stuck with rifle out and not being able to switch to move when you have ranged enemies with global targeting is just getting locked out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't think this is a bad game but, it at no point felt fun - which is the whole point of a game. Cards are weak. Gold is scarce. Upgrades are not impactful. Little to no room for tactics means player creativity is suppressed.
