There is a demo! ⚔️❤️😊🤝🏻🤖 #FantasianNeoDimension

I loved the gameplay even when it got super hard in part 2 with some of the bosses. The final boss was HARD. I loved it! 😍
unlabelledView post →I swear #FantasianNeoDimension has been such a fun time to play. It is very reminiscent of older PS1/PS2 JRPG’s and I’m completely here for it. The turn-based gameplay is very fun and engaging. The characters and plot so far has been extremely well done. My PS5 shows 50% through the game so far. 🤍🤍🤍

I'm gonna make a new thread with more observations here. But here's a thread I made when I did an earlier playthrough on Apple Arcade in '22.

unlabelledView post →This game is an example of what happens when story is just a series of events and the characters have no actual character. There's no meat for me to sink my teeth into, it's just shallow interactions and every potential mystery gets explained almost immediately with blatant signposting or exposition. Not to mention fights are long slogs, even with the Dimengeon feature, and boss fights especially so. I'm a little over halfway through the game and I don't feel any stronger in a fight than I did…

(Imported tweet.)
unlabelledView post →Fantasian Neo Dimension is mostly the same game it was in 2021, which to me means it's a great RPG. Yet despite the power of having Hironobu Sakaguchi's name attached, it is also the exact kind of inventive RPG Square Enix has sent out to die in recent years. willarowe.bearblog.dev/fantasian-ne...

unlabelledView post →The original Fantasian was notorious for being difficult. I completed it with sweat and tears, it’s a rough ride if you’re not prepared. This Dimension version has a few changes and additions for a smoother ride. The most notable ones are voice acting, normal mode and more customisation options for new game plus. All cutscenes are fully voiced and I have to say, I love most of what has been delivered in English. Especially Leo, the main character, did an excellent job. The original mode is now…

unlabelledView post →I was so excited for this game. With nostalgic memories of Lost Odyssey, I couldn't wait to play it. To avoid spoilers, I didn't delve into the game's origins. I wanted to approach the game with as little prejudice as possible and what it returned to me was pure disappointment. A positive point to mention is the lovingly crafted world, which was created from dozens of handmade dioramas and gives the game its very own charm. However, after 53 hours of playtime, it's the only thing I can still…

unlabelledView post →Finished FANTASIAN Neo Dimension! This is a special game. Bravo to Sakaguchi and the folks at Mistwalker. I think if you love older FFs, then you should give it a shot. It's really dynamic with a lot of moving parts, and the battles & bosses are challenging too. This is my GOTY.
unlabelledView post →The first 3/4 of the game are so enjoyable that I honestly feel a pang of regret for having to write this. The last quarter of the game is an insufferable grind fest. Bosses take upwards of a half hour and then at half health will suddenly throw in totally new tactics that you have no way to prepare for. Having to do these fights multiple times by design is not fun, it’s bad game design. On top of that you don’t get nearly enough experience from mobs at higher levels, so the grind continues…

unlabelledView post →If I had to describe Fantasian Neo Dimension in one sentence, I would have to say something like “Fantasian is an RPG out of time”. In my book, one of the reasons that makes Fantasian a great RPG is that it's unapologetic in its execution. If the game was released in Summer 1998, it would've been a mega hit then. Unfortunately, it was released in 2021. The world has moved on since then. Nobody has time for random encounters, pre-rendered maps, random anime silliness and steep difficulties…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If anyone still thinks "Final Fantasy should have stayed turn-based", you know Fantasian Neo Dimension came out recently, right? It's from Mistwalker (Hironobu Sakaguchi's game studio). Yeah, the father of FF made a new Not-FF game. I gotta point that out, some ppl didn't even know it existed.
unlabelledView post →This game has a lot of promise and interest, and I'll say I'm surely glad it's been released from its prison from Apple+ or whatever. But I cannot recommend this game- I spent over 20 hours on it, and while I can say it's not been BORING it has been RIDICULOUS. The characters, writing, and events had me laughing my butt off because of how asinine or crazy a scene plays out. Alls said, I enjoy the combat system, and find the game is willing to be challenging- but it only now opened up to a…

unlabelledView post →I was NOT expecting an RPG of this stunning, old school caliber when I bought this game. In fact, I don't even remember why I bought it but it was probably a recommendation from a friend in FF14. This is damn near as perfect and polished as an RPG gets. Bear in mind, this comes from an old-school Final Fantasy lover who learned to add and subtract from the battles in Final Fantasy 1 back in the 80s. The fights are *very* well tuned, there are quality-of-life things in this game that…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Whilst the dioramas are unique, the story (at least at 22hrs in) is very generic JRPG fare and the characters are all very 2-dimensional. I must admit, the dioramas are what predominantly drew me to this game, and unfortunately I ended up finding the execution of them disappointing. Certain areas (cities and wilderness locations) look great, but closer up environments often let the aesthetic down - objects often have a bit of a weird, cartoonish scale, and whilst I could look past that, the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Slow Slog at the start and Slog Slog Slog towards the end. The tasty part is the middle 50 hours of the sandwich. Was very close to binning it near the end because the game gets difficult and tedious, but was worth it mostly. Probably not for everyone though. I'm basically of the opinion that Uematsu Nobuo wanted to hide his short story about robots behind 50 hours of an RPG before letting you read it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The story is fine. The environments looks great. The characters are decent. Sadly the combat is not. It's a slog. On top of that: The final boss has three phases. After the first 2 phases your party gets put in a little rest area where you can speak with them, level up, heal, etc before the final third phase. You'd expect to be able to save your game here as well, but guess what? They removed the autosave checkpoint from this area in one of the patches. Meaning that if you die in the third…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The creator of Final Fantasy has come out with a new game that looks and plays EXACTLY like old school FF and I LOVE IT!!!!! Lets talk about Fantasian Neo Dimension! NEW VIDEO: youtu.be/Gna8M6xPY6s?...
unlabelledView post →The game has a 20 hour long tutorial, after which you're literally getting introduced to mechanics that should have been there from the start. The story is very basic, and the characters aren't anything groundbreaking. Combat gets progressively more tedious the further you get, as the normal enemies never quite get hard enough for you to care, but the battle animations prolong the fights way past the fun point. The bosses force you to adapt to their mechanics or you get wiped most of the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game feels like a lost gem. I just wish it would provide an option to scale the UI. Clearly designed for mobiles. At least this game didn´t die like Nier Reincarnation. Damn you mobile gaming. However, unlike other reviews, I think this game absolutely does not evoke any FF vibes at all. It feels like it has more vibes from Bravely Default with a Nier-like protoganist.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’m streaming Fantasian Neo Dimension tonight! This game looks so good 😊
unlabelledView post →I'm 99% through Fantasian Neo Dimension. After this, and Lost Odyssey (maybe my favorite game ever), is could not be more obvious how much more fun Sakaguchi and Uematsu seem to have making something that isn't Final Fantasy
unlabelledView post →This is coming from the experience of playing this game 100% on the Steam Deck, making it to the second part of the game. As far as things I did enjoy -The game runs great on the deck, battery life was fine even on default settings. -The idea of making dioramas was a unique approach and it was a bit wild to imagine how many hours of work they did to achieve that. -The option to have a set of music from Final Fantasy games gave battles an extra oomph to hear themes I enjoyed from…

unlabelledView post →Why would you want to play this game? 1) Pretty diorama backgrounds. 2) Charming characters. 3) Turn-base combat with a heavy emphasis on equipment and ability preparation. 3a) Probably the hardest turn-based combat can be designed without relying on RNG. Why would you not want to play this game? 1) An average story. 2) A combat system that doesn't have a lot of flexibility. 2a) The game hampers brute force grinding with heavy EXP limitations throughout the story, removing the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hello friends, Today I will review the game Fantasian Neo Dimension. This is a mobile port of a mistwalker game funded by Square Enix, that was exclusive to the apple store for quite a long time, but eventually got a port to pc, which is now why people can buy it on steam now. From others posts before purchasing the game, i did research to find out this game is quite a hard core rpg. In this terminology, this role playing game is not for beginners that are learning to play role playing games.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Legendary game director Hironobu Sakaguchi and famed game composer Nobuo Uematsu have teamed up again to make a very charming (and surprisingly strategic) narrative turn based rpg. This game quickly became one of my favorite games of 2025. The story is charming and hits all of our favorite jrpg tropes of the late 90s and early 2000's. Corny yet endearing characters? CHECK. A large and ever changing adventuring party with conflict and tension between them? CHECK. Kill god? CHECK I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's hard for me to recommend this game when I can't bring myself to finish it. Starting with the good, just about every core aspect of the game grabbed my attention. The majority of the map design being handmade dioramas is fantastic. The story was fascinating to me from the start, I loved how it presents exposition as a story book and I was engaged with how the plot ramped up. The dimengeon mechanic really cuts down the tedium of random encounters, and the combat letting you aim and curve…

unlabelledView post →I played through most of the game and enjoyed it. However, there is a bug where your save can randomly become corrupted. In my case my 50 hours of gameplay were lost, with no clear resource (the bugged save synced to steam cloud, overwriting my last one). Losing 50 hours of gameplay means I cannot in good conscience recommend this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →yes i am STILL PLAYING FANTASIAN NEO DIMENSION this game just keeps on giving, i'm at almost 72 hours at this point and i just discovered two whole new locations for me to go to. absolutely fucking gagged
unlabelledView post →This game went from a fun and different JRPG to one of the most annoying level-check on each late game boss fight game I've ever seen. It is such a shame because the game is overall fun with an interesting story and characters, but the design on the later boss fights is just bad. "Oh the boss has low HP, let the boss spam its attacks where it spawns adds everywhere that enrages while the boss itself becomes invulnerable." And if that is not enough, sometimes you need a specific character to…

unlabelledView post →Before saying anything, I 100%'ed the game. It's not worth the nearly 100 hours to do so. Let me explain why in time saving bullet-points: • Characters were uninteresting. • Story overall was very mid. • Literally started off with a character who has amnesia, which is very cliche. • Random battles were very slow and happened WAY too much, even with the Dimengeon. • Music was subpar, which is suprising because Nobuo did it. What happened there? • Way too much 'friendship beats all'. JRPGS do…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first half of the game is good fun with an engaging story and a beautiful world. Then the second half has a sudden and abnormal difficulty spike, a series of disjointed side-quests that feel like some bad MMO questing experience. The characters stop interacting with each other, the levelling experience is hindered by the game forcing you to fight millions of enemies most of whom offer little to no experience points because 'oh your level is too high'. There's nothing wrong with a game…
