unlabelledView post →Despite my great enthusiasm for this game, I came away disappointed for several reasons. Most notably, the noticeable repetition in the level design; I didn't feel there was enough variety between the different environments, which impacted the enjoyment of exploration over time. Additionally, enemy variety is relatively limited, and you will encounter similar models repeatedly throughout most of the adventure. The biggest issue for me was the value for the price. Based on my progress and the…

unlabelledView post →Not even a terrible game. Although not that great either, but my big complaint is the price tag on this one. If it was a $30 game I would choose to leave no review, but charging AAA prices for this is criminal.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →HAD TO leave a review after the reviews i just read, for everyone complaining about the character assisting you talking too much and saying there is no way to stop it, THERE IS! its in the settings and you can select to make them talk less not including lowering voice volume, to see a thumbs down when comments openly say the game is good but they talk to much is misleading for the players looking to purchase. The gameplay, bosses , and weapons/ abilities are great. The transition between…

unlabelledView post →Pros: The visual style is very neat. Cons: Almost everything else. To elaborate; The elephant in the room is the CONSTANT chattering the companion does. Repeat lines for almost everything you do. If you get hit, see a chest, get a streak, charge an attack. There is an option to 'reduce' the chatter but I could not tell a difference. Maybe it's bugged. But this alone would have me not recommend the game. I've seen some say the dialogue is catered to children. I don't think so. That is usually…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game itself is very fun. It is a Zelda game with more RPG elements and being able to play at harder difficulties at the start is a nice option. Your character and companion never shut the hell up though, to the point where I had to completely turn off Voices in the options menu. Every single attack, your character is grunting. Walking around exploring, companion is telling you that you're going the wrong way. Charging up an attack, your character is screaming while the companion yells "YOU GOT…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An aggressively mediocre game at a price point where it should be better than that. Seems like the game was made to require the least amount of thinking possible (even on max difficulty). The map and story fundamentally clash with the gameplay loop, making the game boring and uninteresting. The game holds the player's hand to a laughable extent. Before you even have a chance to register what the obstacle/enemy is, the game will tell you how to cross/beat it (sometimes both a popup and partner…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great gameplay, best zelda-like in years. Beautiful artwork. Some of the most immature and bland writing ever put down. 100% must mute, don't be afraid to skip most scenes. Which, uh, is another way of saying don't pay full price for gods sake.

unlabelledView post →This game had the potential to be a modern classic; this generation's A Link to the Past. It is a phenomenal game but is completely ruined by the useless sidekick Faie. I'm not sure why, since the dawn of video games, Asian devs include incessantly annoying characters with high pitched child-like voices. The story and game play is already good enough. It doesn't need this worthless addition. And I do mean worthless. She adds nothing to enhance the game. I also don't understand why devs…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wanted to like this game, but after 6 hours, I am accepting that this is more of a chore than enjoyable gameplay. The graphics and user interface are fantastic, but that's all this game has going for it. - The story (the beginning) is lackluster and takes too much time to advance. - The characters are flat, acting out their specific archetype. - The exploration contains a lot of backtracking and memorization after obtaining new weapons/skills. - The companions are not well-developed, and…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Currently seemingly has a very annoying performance bug on Intel/Nvidia hardware. When the fairy companion is summoned on screen, the frame rate tanks to 40fps. When you hide her, it rises to the locked 120fps. Unfortunately she's a game mechanic and is necessary, so you cannot hide her completely. As such, I'm temporarily not recommending you buy this if you're on an Intel/Nvidia cpu/gpu set up. Will change my review it if its fixed quickly.

unlabelledView post →Bought this specifically to play on my Steam Deck OLED. Not sure how it runs on PC but the performance i was presented with is straight up abysmal. No 800p resolution. The game defaults to 720p. And even on Medium it cannot hit 60fps. Only if i drop down the resolution slider to 75% i can hit 60fps. The problem with that: It looks disgusting. Foliage flickers all over the place and it's blurry as hell. I tried using LS from the Decky Plugin but it has weird outlines on the character so…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I saw someone say that "The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales" was a terrible title for a video game. Honestly, it's surprisingly normal considering it's from the company that brought us Bravely Default, Octopath Traveler, Various Daylife, Bravely Second, and Triangle Strategy.

unlabelledView post →As an old-school gamer who has been playing since the Atari era, I honestly don't understand the mixed reviews this game has received. Maybe it's a generational thing, but it feels like many modern gamers have become overly critical and tend to focus on minor issues rather than the overall experience. After playing the demo from start to finish, I felt something I haven't experienced in years: complete immersion. From the moment I started, I was drawn into the world and genuinely invested in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR at the bottom Preface Despite not playing the demo until just an hour before release, I had extraordinarily high hopes for TAoE. Considering how Octopath Traveler 2 is easily in my top 10 games of all time, I was sure this game would be incredible. TAoE is certainly good, but there are issues I have that certainly keep it out of 10/10 territory. When taking notes for this review, it quickly became apparent that I was writing a lot regarding the voice acting, writing, and story. These are…

unlabelledView post →I actually did enjoy the mechanics of this game and intend to finish it but there are two things that really annoyed me to the point of not recommending: 1) Faie (and no shade to the voice actor who did a great job) was way, way to intrusive. Yes, I know there is a setting to reduce the amount of talking, but even on the 'reticent' setting, Faie still comments every time you get a combo streak, end a streak, block something, get low on health, encounter any point of interest, enter a zone,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone familiar with Octopath Traveler and Bravely Default, I was initially a bit skeptical when Team Asano was making an action-RPG (not turn-based). But after playing it, I found it quite impressive. The HD-2D format in this game looks incredibly beautiful. The lighting effects and water reflections in the swampy areas are stunning. The transitions to hack-and-slash gameplay, a la Mana or Ys, feel responsive. The instantaneous switching between seven weapon types, with a satisfying…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Square Enix released a new trailer for The Adventures of Elliot - The Millennium Tales for Tokyo Game Show! The demo was good, but Elliot needs a few more mobility options in my opinion (like a roll). It's a very fun game clearly inspired by Zelda.

unlabelledView post →Unfortunately I can't really recommend this game, especially not at full price. The demo is really good, but the full game stumbles in a lot of ways. Combat is fine, but it's extremely simple and easy. I think I'm about 2/3rds of the way through the game, and every fight is trivial. You get a parry ability pretty shortly into the game, and every enemy flashes red when you're supposed to hit the block button to parry. The window to get a parry is huge, and there's an item that doubles it. That…

unlabelledView post →Specifically wanted to throw my specs out there to say the game has a weird bug with my setup as well. I run it at a solid 120 fps, ran the demo at a solid 120 fps. Anytime I bring out Faie the fairy I instantly get brought down to like 40-45 fps. It's almost as if it's locking my FPS at that framerate too. Drops it during the cutscenes and when playing if shes is on the screen. Very odd, I don't see how just having the fairy out causes a dip of 80 frames, kind of crazy. Will change to positive…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →To put it simply, if you're thinking of buying it : -the story is too generic -the game isn't worth €60 -there are 4 maps that are all the same with just a reskin -empty areas -dungeons with puzzles that would be fit for a 5-year-old
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A beautiful, but overall just OK game in the spirit of SNES Zelda, but with an actual fully voiced JRPG story. It is rather simplistic in may aspects (gameplay, story, worldbuilding), which makes it seem like the target audience are kids and pre-teens. The map design and enemies get repetitive quickly, you play on the same world in 4 different time periods, but the differences between them are not that big and so the game struggles to keep the experience fresh and exploration rewarding. Sadly…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, Square Enix...THIS is the kind of game you've been pretending people don't want anymore. It's like somebody looked at classic Zelda and old school Final Fantasy, threw them in a blender, and somehow didn't screw it up. The combat is fantastic because almost every weapon is actually viable. Imagine that...a game where you don't spend thirty hours collecting gear just to discover 95% of it is vendor trash. My personal favorite? Chain and sickle with bombs and fireworks. Nothing says…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Look, I went into this game expecting an epic millennium‑spanning adventure. Instead, it immediately feels like Elliot is running through the same handful of recycled zones, giving the whole experience a repetitive first impression rather than the grand journey I expected. Every zone feels like the devs hit Ctrl+C Ctrl+V and called it a day. “Oh wow, another forest that looks exactly like the last forest but with one extra rock. Immersive.” By the third age I wasn’t exploring I was…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a good game that does an incredible job at putting its absolute worst foot forward. The flaws it has are most apparent and most prominent in the first hour or two, but settles into a very good groove past that and elevates itself surprisingly well in the last 5-6 hours of the game. Set in the instantly-memed land of Philabieldia, The Adventures of Elliot stars the aforementioned Elliot, who apparently is an honors graduate from the Gary Stu…

unlabelledView post →Some fun mechanics and great art. The writing is so uninspired. The Farie companion has a tendency to inject dialogue into every moment in an excessive and obnoxious way. They did try mitigating it to a degree but I had to change audio language to Japanese to push through the game. The reuse of the same overworld and dungeons is as equally painful as the faire companion. It just feels like the budget allocation didn't match the ambition for the project. The full $70 USD price tag for the game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It has the makings of a masterpiece, but falls short in every way. It needs more map variety in the different ages, more enemy variety, more reason to explore. The pacing also suffers, you get bogged down by dialogue that's not that interesting. I was very excited for the game to come out but ended up having to force myself to beat it. I'd probably give it a 6/10 and I don't think I would recommend to anyone, especially at full price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really really wanted to love this game but it just doesn't stand up to the hype. This will be short but here's the good and the bad: Good Stuff: -Music is 7/10 -Combat is pretty fun (the companion you get later makes it novel) -The Art is great -Magicite system is a fun lil gacha experience and adds some cool customization to weapons and playstyle. Bad Stuff: -SO MUCH of the world is recycled and halfway through the game the quests and re-exploring you have to do feels mega stale.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is my GOAT of the year 2026. Helps that it came out just a day before my birthday. The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales is a game many would sing is like The Legend of Zelda done by Square Enix, but I'd argue it reminds me a bit more of the Ys series. A freeroam map where you can explore all that there is, locked by some spell or weapon or even key item barriers, that is expanded four times as you go further back in time to stop what starts as a mutiny before becoming a full on…

I also had an issue where the game defaulted to 720p on my 4K tv and I couldn't change it without editing the .ini. I didn't get this issue in the demo, and I had a lot of fun with that. Honestly, how do games get released in this state?

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales immediately brought back memories of the old Zelda DS games I grew up with. From the top-down exploration and dungeon design to the sense of adventure and puzzle solving, it captures the spirit of those classics while still carving out its own identity. One of the game's biggest strengths is its cast. The characters are full of personality, and their designs are fantastic, but what really stood out to me was the voice acting. The performances are…

It does a great job of showing exactly what this game is and whether its style of exploration and combat will click with you. I was hooked from the demo and couldn't wait for the full release.
