Drizzlepath: Genie is a walking simulator that takes you on a journey through beautiful scenery. The rain soaked atmosphere is very relaxing. It's not as dark as Dear Esther. The colours are quite muted, but that's appropriate for an overcast day. The landscape contains various locations and objects of interest and it's worth looking around to find things you might otherwise miss. Occasional voice narration enhances the experience. It's extremely poetic and descriptive, painting pictures in…

I'm a pretty easy guy to please when it comes to games. A game does not have to be brilliantly written, beautifully textured, or flawlessly programmed to get me to recommend it. All it has to do is show me something I haven't seen before, give me an hour (or more) of a good time, or just be a little weird in one way or another. So let's talk a bit about why I'm not recommending Drizzlepath: Genie. I would heartily recommend Drizzlepath (the original). That game showed me something I've not…

Drizzlepath: Genie is a fascinating and very atmospheric game that offers exploration along two different paths and a well presented and narrated storyline for both of them. Both paths you can walk are exclusive to each other, so to experience the whole game you have to play it twice. That does not really get repetitive tough, because they are very different from each other, both in story and in presentation. I don't want to spoil too much of the story, but it is about a young girl that takes…

Drizzlepath: Genie is about a girl who takes a journey down one of two possible paths to discover what the "Genie" is, and what it could mean for her village and her future. If you're expecting the game to be anything but a narrative of sorts, turn back now as that is what this basically is when you break it down. No puzzles, no enemies, no difficulty involved - this is why people tend to say it's a "relaxing" experience. It took me just over 2 hours to complete the game. You choose one of two…

The term 'walking simulator' was first tossed around to be an insult towards games that some deemed to be 'not really a game'. For some though, sitting down to a game that's relaxing and likely visually pleasing can be a tranquil experience, and no less of a 'game' than any other. Lately though, you see the term 'walking simulator' being applied to just about any first person game that doesn't let you shoot things. Even games heavy on platforming or difficult puzzle solving. Drizzlepath: Genie…

2 ways to walk. Red one long. Blue extremly long. To long. The ways could be shorter or there could be at least more speed. Way to much slow speed. The story is good, like a part(ly) soul mate make it. I come to most of the same conclusions. Good for achievement hunters & philosophs lovers/ real fellow creature

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference. ~The Road Not Taken, Robert Frost Contrary to many beliefs that this means choosing a path that is not taken by others... Frost's poem actually explores the notion of choice, what it means to actually explore the consequences of ones choices, and that neither is wrong or right. In the poem, each way is equally untrodden and equally fair to walk, both offer experience. This is where…

Both paths are unique and provide you with a interesting journey to find this Genie. I recommend the game to walking simulator and 100%ers lovers especially. Gameplay You have the option to take either path Red (left side) or Blue (right side) The red path had the best storyline in my opinion BUT the blue path had the most…

Let me start this review off with saying, I've played my fair share of Walking Simulators, I've played a lot of the games that are very often referred to as "Not really a game", I know what they consist of, I know what to expect, I accept the fact that they contain little to sometimes zero actual content or interaction. I enjoy most of them. But this game? This game does not speak to me positively in almost any way. It's so boring, there is literally 0 content. There is no interactivity,…

Introduction Released almost one year after the first title in the eponymous series, Drizzlepath: Genie is everything a worthy gaming sequel should be. It expands not just the narrative, but it features a visual overhaul coupled with freedom of choice and multiple endings. Developer Tonguç Bodur (has a cameo inside his own game), proves his skill once again while offering a new meditative journey for all open-minded players to enjoy. And again, far too many negative reviews for a title that…

Poor. Drizzlepath: Genie is a walking simulator. It's sticks to this description fiercely. As you will walk, and walk, and walk. The problem is, the gameplay, without anything interesting going on, is fairly awful. It was just not fun. There is next to zero interaction which is hardly surprising for a walking simulator, so you need the story to support the game entirely. This is where it fails. The poor, monotonous voiceover is hard to listen to, and there's a couple of botched lines…

Being a "walking simulator", Drizzlepath: Genie's gameplay is very simplistic. There is almost no action to be performed apart from some jumps, pulling a lever and stepping on a platform. However, the whole gaming experience comes from admiring the beauty of the scenery while walking down along a path in the mountains and listening to the narrator's voice. The visual and auditive stimuli are very well balanced in Drizzlepath: Genie, successfully inducing in the player a state of deep relaxation…

First of all, Drizzlepath: Genie is a walking simulator in it's purest sense. All you do is walk while hearing a story. The good: The atmosphere is great! The game is created with the CryEngine which really shows. On your journey you'll see huge areas rich with detail. The rain, the grass moving in the wind, the various flowers - the all add to the beautiful scenery. Through your jouney you'll visit different places such as flowery fields, snowy mountains, and caves. If you like taking…

A bunch of pretentious drivel. The game trys to be deep and phylosphical, but it just ends up been slow, boring, and cheesy. The ending is terrible. The pacing is slow and dull. Plan on just 30-40 minutes of walking with cruise control while having terrible poems recited to you by a monocrome voice actor. I do appreciate that this game is trying to be something different, and for that it deserves praise. It just fails to be interesting or engaging. I found myself 2-3 times browing the…

I found this really underwhelming. The narration was bad, the story was not captivating at all, and the landscape unimpressive at max settings. The only parts I thought actually looked fairly good were the caves. If you are expecting Dear Esther, or The Vanishing Of Ethan Carter, this is not it.

I am a big fan of well made narrative driven game experiences such as this one. It offers you very pleasant voice acting, harmonious soundtrack, fascinating, surreal, weird atmosphere and decent graphics. Gameplay is overall relaxing, aside from some "challenging jump sequences". You can save and quit at any time. The vast game world provides alternative locations, away from the main path, to explore. There you will find additional, story related information. The story itself is dealing…

It looks pretty, that’s for sure, but is there anything underneath all that beauty or is it just style-over-substance? Shall we take a closer look? Genie was the 2nd in the Drizzlepath series and it should be noted it was a huge step up. The first Drizzlepath used the CryEngine and it was marred by optimisation errors. Graphics options were almost completely missing and it wasn't always clear where we needed to go. For its sequel, Genie, the developer picked the Unreal Engine. In terms of graphics the world created by this engine is just as beautiful, however, unlike its predecessor Genie is now greatly optimised and has a smooth…

I began my review for the first Drizzlepath with a small complaint about the lack of a "walk" button, especially in a genre of gaming where taking things slow 'n' casual is pretty much of the essence. I'm pleased to say that Drizzlepath: Genie immediately rectifies this flaw, endowing your protagonist with a steady-but-calm walking pace more ideally suited to this style of "walking simulator". The narration even justifies the initial lack of a "run" button, explaining that an evil wizard has…

Drizzlepath: Genie is a true waking simulator. You walk and walk and walk. And then, you walk some more. For about 4 hours straight. There are quite a few 'visual anomalies' along the way to keep things interesting. However, at some point, I found myself focused only on the trail and no longer paying much attention to the details around me. The good news is that there is an 'auto-run' function so you do not have to depress the 'W' key for the entire journey. You walk as Lula - a girl who is…

Well...that was a deluding experience. But that aside, let's just get to the point. This game that promises multiple endings (as most 'walking simulators' do), is rather limited so far that goes, offering two endings that are all decided shortly after the start of the game. The protagonist during the whole trip -which on the shortest path took a whole hour and half to complete- , will talk about her 'life and memories'...and bring up poorly written poetry and senseless koans. This game is a bit too long, with the environments, although pretty, feeling repetitive from time to time. The game also keeps focusing on a choice you make at the beginning of the game, at the end of the game you find out there was only one correct choice. This feels incredibly unsatisfying considering its just the difference between going left or right with no additional info what so ever. You have no way of knowing what the correct path is until the end. The correct path the mentions…

Excellent sequel, however this one is much longer so it's nice to have save points! Unless you really like walking sims, you wont complete the 2.5 hours that is blue path, but I recommend starting with that one. Overall I enjoyed the story of this one much more and recommend it even more than the first one. On to try Glass!

I wondered why this "game" is on the cheap side now I know. It isn't even worth the asking price I would say this should be free or maybe £2. It isn't a game so don't expect to do anything execept open ONE gate and jump over about 6 rocks but THATS IT. The rest is walking and you get to choose I think 2 paths to follow. The voiceover is one of the WORST I have EVER heard there is no other voice you will hear just the one irritating girl throughout. I completed the "game" so know what I am…
